This kills me. There's a German Lost Highway and some asian Inland Empire but they're expensive and hard to get. Tried to order the box set of his last three movies from Germany and it never came in. I got a refund but they said it's no longer available. I think Richard could be Ben's son with one of the girls he cheated with. Maybe someone named Linda who worked at One Eyed Jacks.

Perhaps she was underage at the time, drug addicted even and left the baby with him. The underage part would call back to the mention of underage prostitutes from the earlier episode. In order to avoid legal penalties for statutory rape perhaps Ben convinced Sylvia to pass the child off as Audrey's. Perhaps Sylvia agreed to keep up the charade in exchange for a large divorce settlement. The wake up call of this brush with legal disaster might have been what reformed Ben temporarily. I could imagine Ben making a bargain that he will be a good boy if this nightmare blows over.

Why else would Sylvia call Ben to demand more money unless she feels he is in some way directly responsible for Richard and owes her for her silence? That he owes her something specifically in connection with Richard? There must be something about Richard that she feels entitles her to pain and suffering money from Ben.

Again, this might also explain why Ben stopped screwing around, sleeping with an underage prostitute and getting her pregnant was his wake up call. Sylvia would also have legal leverage over him at least before the statute of limitations expired. She would also have social leverage over him by threatening to reveal the whole story to the town.

Once he gets the call about Richard, Ben immediately arranges to go on a date with his secretary. There has to be some connection between Richard and Ben's cheating. Perhaps he feels there is no reason to be reformed any more since his bargaining didn't prevent Richard from becoming a monster.

Has Donna? If he's either one's kid, there would likely have been a mention of them up to now, because they can't expect everyone who watches S3 to have seen S1 and S2. The only potential parent that has been introduced up to now, for better or worse, is Johnny. It must have been heartbreaking for him to watch his son do this while being strapped to that chair.

Main issue for me is throwing in all the side Twin Peaks characters. I absolutely love the extra Chet/Jeffries/Laura scenes (whoever took out her staring at the fan should be shot), but having the extra characters like Truman and Hawk going after Renault, Norma and Ed fucking around, etc just pads it out and takes away from the intensity of the Laura story. What I really want is a fan edit with that stuff cut out

Not gonna take the time to respond to the conversation but there is a reason people dislike the FWWM fan edit.

FWWM is an incredible film. It can't exactly stand alone from the show, but as a movie, its own entity, it is horrifying and incredibly emotional. Adding the missing pieces back in absolutely destroys all sense of tone and pacing that makes the movie so impactful. If you've already seen it, then yes the edit does make a nice bridge between seasons, but for a first time watcher, the official FWWM is a MUST. It has nothing to do with "the integrity of Lynch" or whatever, it has to do with having an incredible viewing experience of an overwhelmingly good film

I had a dream last night about the Jumping Man, /tv/. I dreamt that there was this massive single storey house, and at the back was a tiny room with a red suit and a pointed white mask. I didn't do anything, I just wore the suit and stood in the corner. Then the room turned inside out and I was in the Lodge with the Arm, and he had christmas decorations on his branches. Twin Peaks always felt like a collection of scenes, rather than a cohesive show. The first and second seasons are full of unnecessary scenes, FWWM is basically a mix and match of random scenes, and Season 3 is full of long scenes without music. It's begging to be edited. I wouldn't be surprised if when the season is over, a "cut" version is released where the scenes are far shorter.
