i know I've read or watched a featurette specifically about how they made the firing into the woods sequence as long as they could get away with. But I do agree it's not really about subverting America or whatever, it's mostly just setting up the strongest tough guy protagonists with the best weapons humanity has to offer, because that makes the Predator that much more intimidating when they all get rekt.
