Season 2 would have been better if they just went the slice of life route instead of having ridiculous shit happen for "Comedy" and having overly dramatic Soapy shit with James. You know it is true. I actually like the Diner scenes closer to the end of Season 2 because they are more like a slice of life moment and it was nice to have them.

How? From season 1 he talks about how is work is classified which implies he does something very important that we can't know yet or possibly ever. Then in season 2 he tells him about his deeps pace monitoring stuff and the cooper cooper cooper message. It was pretty obvious he knew about the supernatural stuff and I never felt like him being involved was out of nowhere. Also the actor who plays him is great too.

I think that is part of it. I never expected Cooper to be "back" so early I thought it would focus on other characters and things. I think Dougie is mostly just a convenient way of keeping Cooper in the show without having him actually be in the show for real. It also stresses out the viewer not knowing what the fuck will happen with him. If he was just in the lodge the whole time I'm not sure if it would be as stressful since there doesn't seem to be a risk of him dying in the lodge. I still don't know for sure if they will even bring Cooper back at this point. I could just be completely wrong about all of this.
