I wonder if Jon will die again in the last season. Right now, the idea of death terrifies him even more than it did before, and it almost feels like he is safe given that he has already died and resurrected, and is clearly the last male Targarian (in the TV show). It would surprise some viewers if he had another death scene, but this one heroic.

That said, dark stories rarely age well if they don't at least have a happy or bitter-sweet ending, as all that darkness has to be building up to something other than weaponized depression. It has killed the lasting popularity of other popular shows. Game of Thrones actually ending, and not being able to look forwards to new seasons, will probably drive half of the internet to suicide anyway though.

Maybe, and honestly, Game of Thrones is pretty much all drama. Surprise twists, deaths, and all that. Once it's over, and everyone knows how it all turns out, all it will really have left is the sex scenes, the popular characters, and the ending. If that ending is boring/they don't make it a Jon marries Danaerys 'happy ending' or something equally 'uplifting' it will be shunned by a massive portion of the fanbase.
