Does anyone feel like they are all on their lonesome with their love of all things Twin Peaks? Besides the online community, I literally don't know a single person who is remotely interested. My girlfriend falls asleep when i watch it. My kids think I'm weird. I even got this comment from a coworker: "What the fuck is Twin Peaks?" It's kinda frustrating cos I don't have anyone to discuss the latest mindfuck episode with or bounce ideas off.

Ever seen the movie The King and I?

Hey, so... cutting to the chase: I think music may have some kind of literal potency for keeping pure evil (usually but not exclusively personified by BOB) at bay in the Twin Peaks universe. I also think that when music ends, it’s almost always an invitation for evil to come and fill the silence left behind.
I think it’s an interesting piece of unspoken world building that possibly links up certain actions and reactions in the story so far, that may have otherwise seemed incidental and/or unrelated. I even think it could have a bearing on the overall plot for season 3. But it could just all be tinhat nonsense.
Let me know what you think!
The evidence, which I will present in roughly the order it came to me:
In the opening scene for season 3, the Giant is sitting with Coop in his badass sea fortress/the White Lodge when he tells Coop to “listen to the sounds”. The pair of them then focus on an old time-y record player, which is emitting a soft, scratchy, repetitious noise. The Giant follows this up by saying “it is in our house now”.
At first I thought this noise was something specific being played on a record, but in the absence of a new episode this week I’ve been watching season 1 and 2 again. When I arrived at Maddy’s murder, I noticed something interesting that I had only ever assumed was incidental before. Maddy dies to the sound of a skipping record player, the needle jumping back and forth at the end of an LP which has finished playing.
That sound is pretty similar to the sound of The Giant’s old record player in the White Lodge, no?
That made me think about what the Giant might be trying to tell Coop, if he is indeed asking him to consider the absence of sound at the end of a record.
So I started thinking about other times diagetic music – especially that involving record players – has been used.
In episode 5/6 (depending on how you count the pilot) of season 1, more than I am "right". That's part of the fun of the show :)

It's happening again.

I don't get this at all. How can so many think this is even remotely good? After episode 7 I thought I'd give it another chance since the story actually progressed somewhat but what the heck did just happen in this episode??? It's something you could watch in some surreal modern video art exhibition. It contain zero story, just weird and stretched out scenes and goes on forever and adds nothing.

I agree with some other people, this is NOT Twin Peaks anymore. If we took the actual story of interest in the last 8 episodes, we could condense it down to 1 or max 2 episodes.

After 8 episodes we don't know what's going on, hell, I don't think Lynch knows what's going on. I loved the original Twin Peaks but this is completely horrible, I give it a 0/10, it's NOT ART, it's incoherent images jumbled together without any context unfortunately.

Watching this reunion interview thing earlier today, I realised two things. David is absolutely into trolling. He purposely pronounces Madchen Amick's name wrong and says 'it's what I call you though'. He calls MacLachlan "Kale".

And secondly..this. Coop is never getting to return to Twin Peaks for coffee and comfy pie. He will never get to settle down there like he hoped in s2. When Lynch was talking about the mystery of Laura Palmer's killer being the driving force behind the original series and him still regretting them revealing it, I realised the similar way they had set up this season, with the question of whether Coop would ever return to his former self. If David and Mark are getting to do it THEIR WAY this season with no studio/network interference, then it's very likely it will end with this point being unresolved. He might get his mind back for a moment to do a heroic act, but ultimately he will have to succumb to the fact he cannot return to being a normal human and he has a higher calling.

So one thing is bothering me about DoppelCoop, and that's how much of original Cooper's memory/thoughts he shares. Otherwise he wouldn't even KNOW to go to kill Annie, rape Audrey, rape Diane etc. So I'm guessing he does share his memory and thoughts? However if that's the case surely he would inherit some of this from DougieCoop and therefore know HIS whereabouts/ get thoughts or memories from his experience that would lead him easily to his location.

Dougie still has two subplots to solve in Vegas.

One is that he's going to run into Belushi and Knepper again and they'll try to hurt him.

The other is Sizemore and corruption at his work panning out in some sort of a confrontation.

Considering Lynch's pacing neither of those two will be resolved in less than 4 more episodes.

So it's more or less in line with speculation that true Coop will be "back" in the final few episodes of the season.

Everyone saying there is too much to be 'resolved' in the next few episodes is absolutely missing the point or storytelling style of Lynch/Frost. There is plot and there is story. Plot is kibble, it's things like 'what is going on in Las Vegas', 'Was Jade hired'. The story is clearly a Return, an odyssey story for Cooper. That will surely be resolved cause it's their style. So why does it seem like half of the time the spirits are helping Bob and the other half against him?
