I agree. It seems like she planned it all along and acted it all out brilliantly. Besides, it's the Master. The character always cheats death and comes back, and this time there's actually a plausible answer (she prepared for the full blast/the cybermen repair her enough to regenerate).

We never did get an answer as to how she escaped the Daleks in The Witch's Familiar, did we? Where she said she had a very clever plan?

At this point fans don't even expect a logical answer anyway, the Master's always survived and it hardly ever gets explained.

Out of everything in the episode the thing that bothered me the most was how Simm's presence was handwaved as quickly as possible.

I don't even know what the deal is with the Cybermen anymore. This was their Genesis, right? As in, in WOAT, those were chronologically the very first Cybermen ever created in the universe? The Mondasians.
Yet in this episode we're shown that they've evolved over the years and years and years at the bottom of the spaceship and turned into the new, current Cybermen we know.
So what's with all the Mondasian Cybermen appearing in OldWho? Did they escape from the ship before they were "upgraded" to NuWho Cybermen and fly off to distant planets?
How were the Mondasian Cybermen even in The Tenth Planet and Tomb of the Cybermen if they were created on this spaceship and upgraded all the way to the newer version we see in current Who?

If you think about it, Capaldi's guitar is like Smith's bow tie. It'd be like the moment Smith took off the bow tie and dropped it on the floor. A final nod to his character before the next one takes over.

While I loved the episode so much and was able to overlook little details here and there, this was the one that was just bad. WetGirl was possessed by an alien who's ship was crash-landed. As far as we know that was just a random spaceship and knowing how to control a random spaceship and knowing how to control the TARDIS are two very different things.

I liked the whole episode apart from pulling a deus ex machina bullshit ending out their arses right at the end. 'On you know that awful love-wins plot from the first ep that nobody liked and didn't really make sense; let's make that how they magically beam off the ship!'
They had so much potential with the Masters Tardis and going back to the city, instead they wasted it on the companions half baked story taking centre stage again.
Redeemed it a bit with Capaldi fighting his regeneration and the Cloister Bells going off and 1st Doctors appearance.

Really good episode, touching different themes.There's just a bunch of things holding it down. Pacing wasn't great, it felt a bit slow. There was a good finale for Bill's adventure, but what about Nardole? Unless he appears in the christmas special what was his finale, being chased by cybermen trapped in a spaceship heading towards a black hole? His farewell speech was good but this sounds like a huge "fuck you" to the character. The master's standoff was great, although i would have loved a regeneration.
