I'm not much of a David Lynch fan outside of that film and Twin Peaks as a whole. I like Mulholland and Lost Highway, and Eraserhead was the first "cult classic" I ever watched, but the rest of his stuff doesn't excite much... I feel like Inland Empire stands apart from the rest of his work as some colossal nightmare fuel that has made me feel ill, cry and never lets go. Maybe you need to be on the right mindset (at the time I was hooked on DXM) or watch it under certain conditions, but to me it was a very powerful experience.

I usually post in these generals but I haven't been much since Ep 8.

It's not that I didn't like it. I loved it. I thought it was amazing and mesmerizing.

I dunno how to describe it. I feel like it kind of knocked the wind out of me (in a good way) and I don't really feel any compulsion to discuss the episode like I usually do.

I have a really hard time deciding whether MD or IE is his magnum opus. IE is an absolute nightmare but with a happy end. IE is Lynch at his most "Lynchian", the film is incredibly complex and obtuse making it very hard to watch the first time around. The more I watch it though, the better and better it gets. I HATE digital, it looks like shit compared to 35mm film, but Lynch showed me what use you can get out of it that 35mm simply can not. Thanks to digital cameras Lynch was able to create a film that looks insanely dark thanks to the high ISO inherent in digital cameras.
