It was new, fresh and mysterious the first time around. This time it was expected and most details they added only dissipated the mystery and make it appeal less to the viewer's imagination. Apart from the tree, there just was nothing surprise this time around.

I meant recurring characters as well. It's a bit sad to see how most characters have aged way more than their role seems to acknowledge it, which makes it a bit sad. They shouldn't have shown Laura in the lodge, not this way at least, and Andy is just silly this time. I know make fun up of this up to a point, but they should have allowed characters to grow up a bit more. The only one that works right now as far as I'm concerned are Bobby and the owner of the RR which I forget the name of at the moment.
