It's interesting how Cooper has basically become a baby animal of sorts. All of his prior FBI training was so deeply ingrained in him that they became innate instincts, even though he's basically catatonic now.

His interrogation ability ("He's lying"), investigative ability (the case files), and his CQC/ability to disarm threats are all still there and rush to the forefront when needed even though he's basically a walking vegetable in all other facets of life.

I don't buy that the Lodge has helped him with anything but the slot machines, even though they're "rooting" for him. I think MIKE's frustration in the previous episode shows that. We know that Cooper has had some form of "supernatural" intuition even before (Tibetan Method dream). This all shows that his basic abilities are all still there. He just needs to "wake up".

Blue Velvet for a relatively straightforward but still Lynchy feeling mystery. Dennis Hopper is the best Lynch character.
Lost Highway is a lot like Mulholland Drive, feels a bit more brooding in tone but has a similar puzzle-like quality to it. I personally like Mulholland Drive a lot more but Lost Highway's still great.
