I'm not ready to write off Bryan Fuller as a complete hack, because I liked the first two seasons of Hannibal a lot. He just seems way too susceptible to the opinions of his fans at the expense of following his better storytelling instincts. If the fans knew what they wanted, they would have come up with the show in the first place. Now you've got the circlejerk of Hannibal S3 where everyone's gay, every scene is slow motion, all for the benefit of the tumblr gifset crowd, and he seems to have basically ripped that entire style wholesale for American Gods. Neil Gaiman is great, but this obviously isn't sticking close to his source material, and since he had to threaten suicide just to stop Fuller from having the friend's widow suck Shadow's dick on his wife's grave at the end of the pilot episode, obviously he doesn't have much tangible creative control.
