Nah, he's right. Lynch gets a bit too much the benefit of the doubt from everyone. The karate chop sfx was pretty bad. You need to judge things on the basis of "do they work". Doesn't matter what the intent was. I still love Lynch and the series, and the genius bits are so good that they make up for all the clunky stuff, but there's about 10 minutes of genius for 40 of "well it might be good if we interpret it this way" recently, at least as far as I'm concerned.

Now can we talk about Andy's gut in his first scene, with the camera spinning around him as he talked to the guy who wanted to meet him elsewhere. How in the... Was that real?

No it's not ridiculous, I've watched the scene about ten times before moving on with the rest of the episode because I liked it so much. I know it's picky, but still had trouble with the sound effects though.

I actually thought in this scene, Jerry experienced something related to the Lodge. Jerry says someone stole his car, Ben repeats "you say someone stole your car?", and Jerry replies, "you say the same thing". That implied to me that he had some interaction with the Lodge spirits and their habit of repeating phrases, which Dougie currently suffers from. Kinda like the Jeffries scene, but with a comedic ending.

Actually I guess the Jeffries scene already had a comedic ending thanks to /tv/.
