Bob literally is real though. Leland was half responsible for the murder of his daughter and subsequent rape. This is explored in FWWM. He willfully turns on the ceiling fan which spirits travel through electricity in the series. He wants to do these things, but also knows the terrible nature of his desires so he calls upon Bob to allow him to do what he truly wants by proxy.

Bob is real, the spirits are real. All the supernatural elements are very real in the show.
>>
So basically, my general sense of what's going on with the story as a whole is that murder, corruption, and violence are out of control in the world of Twin Peaks due to the influence of the Black Lodge, which has been an unchecked force of mayhem and chaos ever since Cooper got trapped there and the Doppleganger began to wander the Earth. The violence, corruption, and murder serves as a way for Black Lodge spirits to consume garmonbozia. Cooper, as a force of pure good, has been sent back to Earth in order to correct the balance between good and evil, but his wires are crossed and he's basically a shell of a person who has limited guidance from the supernatural forces that sent him back to Earth.

Am I missing anything?
>>
>>83865096
Evil Coop is using the billionare from mullholand drive to try and stop coop. Initially he used his funds to create the glass box so at the exact moment that the entity in the glass box appears, Coop would appear there and immediately get murdered. Thus Bob would not have to return to the lodge.

The eyeless lady stops this though and he is saved yet again and replaced with dougie, which was also a contingency plan created by Bob in case his plan failed. He is with dougie now and with this information had sent assassins hired by lorraine to kill Coop. She did not kill him in the allotted time so he kills her and this connection is confirmed with the billionare and the envelope.

This means that Coop is now in danger because he knows that the other spirits of the lodge are trying to bring Bob back. Why? Because he has not returned in a long time denying Mike and the man from another place's gargambozia.

This to me is definitely what is happening.

Thoughts?

Original
>>
>>83865595
Think about the nature of the citizens, twin peaks is no longer warm anymore and electricity can be heard surging constantly throughout the episodes. The drug trade is worse, the bang bang bar is not a relaxing place anymore where denizens go to hang out, it's more of a drug ring where young people go to get high. When the child is run over the townsfolk seem to care, but not enough to elicit a strong emotional response considering how a kid was just ran over.

Something dark is happening to twin peaks and it is due to the black lodge's influence and Bob refusing to return to it after all this time. Therefore Mike and the arm are consuming garbambozia from the actual town and are corrupting the very fabric of it's existence.
>>
>>83865298
I'm thinking that was the intention

The bystander reactions were very stiff, on purpose I believe. One anon described one of the on-lookers as thinking how he's going to tweet about this later which convinced me that Lynch is critiquing social media coverage of tragic events or at the very least the bystander effect

Yeah, compare this to how everyone reacted to the Laura Palmer murder. The police weren't even shown to be involved or informed about the kid getting run over.

Exactly, when Laura died it was a strong sadness that enveloped the town, everyone felt the loss of her even if they didn't know her that well. In the old twin peaks people would literally be crying while Baldamenti's music intensifies the emotions of the citizens.

Yeah, and in this season we're explicitly reminded of that when Deputy Bobby sees Laura's picture. He goes into full on melodramatic sadness, but everybody around him is just awkward and stilted.

Right before the scene with the kid in the street ends you hear sirens. I wasn't even thinking the call at the end was about the kid getting hit but if it was then that scene was back in time a bit and not after the hit and run.

I didn't even think the town they were in was Twin Peaks or was anywhere near it considering it's near the trailer park, which while I don't think like others that it's in Oregon, isn't really near Twin Peaks.

I did see it, but that aspect was also hidden, it lurked beneath the surface of the all american town of twin peaks. It's more overt here, it's always present. Now the goodness of twin peaks is subverted and the opposite is true. The darkness is the encompassing force while goodness is beneath the surface.

Also, the Twin Peaks Sheriff's Dept. is portrayed way differently than it was originally. Robert Forster is an old man who's in charge of a large modernized department and he doesn't seem to be particularly with the times. There's corruption on the police force, as well as assholes like Chad running around. The two policemen from the original run who are still around are both isolated from the rest of the department. Kimmy can't handle modern technology.

Maybe a major theme this season is an association of the modernization of the town of Twin Peaks with its descent into open corruption and violence? That was like the seedy underbelly of the old Twin Peaks, but it seems like it's much more blatant in the modern day.

Lynch doesn't necessarily have the happiest endings, but he definitely has a soft spot for decent people, and maybe a fascination with scumbags, but he doesn't like scumbags and fucks their shit up often.

This guy may not come to a predictable demise that such depiction of a character like him would usually suggest, but he's never going to be made to be someone you're supposed to like.

He's obviously being made to be probably the least likeable character on the series, even for Lynch's standards.

A normal reaction would people literally screaming and rushing to help the mother and checking to see if this child is ok. The townspeoples reaction wasn't normal. It was completely played to show the difference in how Twin Peaks is 25 years later. Think about it.

Cool theory, but I don't think Lynch / Frost will be smart enough to continue it.

In fact, I have a brooding suspicion that everyone will "forget" the kid got run over, and we'll never see him come to justice, because of lazy writing. Expect the show to become plot hole central in the next few episodes.

My first post outlines how Twin Peaks is changing which alligns with what has been happening in Season 3. It makes sense thematically, tonally, and continuity wise brings the series full circle.

Lynch made mullholand Dr, Lost highway, wrote the best episodes of twin peaks.

I truly doubt that he hired 10 actors that couldn't act, what's more likely is he directed them to act according to what he was trying to imply.

I agree with him. At first it was kinda funny, now it's really sad. Coop's mind got so fried from being trapped in the Lodge for 25 years that he doesn't even know how to pee anymore. He's learning how to live again.

This is so much better than just havin Coop escape in episode 1 and he's back to normal, that's just a cop-out to appease casuals. Doing this Dougie storyline is only going to make it even more heartbreaking when he finally does wake up.

I haven't really thought anything was bad at all. I am loving the new season and think it's absolutely Lynchian to the max. Tight Budget? Most of the scenes don't even have effects, he was given free reign to do whatever the fuck he wanted, the series was originally 9 episodes, he told showtime to fuck off and now it's 18.

Consider this. In the original Twin peaks the town exudes optimism and 50's era americana. This is because you are seeing the town from Coop's point of view who doesn't know and refused to accept it's darker side. Which is why he was trapped in the lodge.

Now look at FWWM, the town is fundamentally different this time which was jarring to a lot of fans. Why? Because this is Laura's point of view.

Now take season 3, it's back to Coop's perspective but because he's in the state that he is in the tone of the show fits that paradigm.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-BDU-TvlTg

Look at the continuity of this scene between three episodes, this is the caliber of television we are getting. Lynch isn't fucking around.

theres no evidence that Leland was complicit at all. He probably had no idea the ceiling fan was connected to the lodge. in FWWM he yells "dont make me do this" as he is forced to kill laura.
>>
>>83866346
Twin peaks season 1 and 2 is also like that because it is a parody of Soap Operas, the town literally watches a Soap inside the show which is a meta narrative of how shit television was back then.

None of his films have bad acting, Naomi watts performance in MD is incredible and she was nominated for an oscar. Blue velvet is amazing "DADDY WANTS TO FUCK", "HE PUT HIS DISEASE IN ME!", and Lost Highway is also amazing as fuck. So is Inland Empire, and while were at it Eraserhead is also amazing including elephant man.

There's a reason why in the EU they voted MD for the best film of all time. Noone thinks the acting in these films are bad.,

>Maybe a major theme this season is an association of the modernization of the town of Twin Peaks with its descent into open corruption and violence? That was like the seedy underbelly of the old Twin Peaks, but it seems like it's much more blatant in the modern day.

People are starting to understand...
>>
>>83866442
There is a ton of evidence, because when Mike yells at Laura that "It's your father", Leland and Laura understand what is happening, and that she found him out. At the end of FWWM he says "I thought you always knew it was me", because his true desire was always to molest her.

Bob is the one saying "Don't make me do this" through Leland, because Bob wanted to posses her, and Leland still loves his daughter even though he realizes what he had done.

In that same scene you see Leland appear to her right, then Bob appear to her left. He willfully allowed himself to be possessed by Bob because of his dark desire opened the door to the Lodge. But the act is so painful that he chooses to use Bob as a proxy.

Some people think that bad acting is anytime an actor isn't giving a totally naturalistic performance.

Method acting is great and all, but it's not the be-all end-all. Sometimes you need actors to give a stilted or mannered or over-the-top performance, because that's what is called for in the scene.

I don't think it was this dark desire that allowed Bob in, because Bob apparently possessed Leland from an early age. I think Leland acts very strangely sometimes because of the forced cognitive dissonance and repression Bob puts him through, which results in him freaking out at the traffic light. If Leland knows that he kills Laura, its on an unconscious level that he could only access in the black lodge or moments of spiritual clarity such as his death when he realizes and laments what he has done.

>>83866723
No, I think he acts that way because a demon lives in him who loves raping and killing people. That's the duality, a normal family man and a perverted entity of pure evil using him as a puppet. Leland is clearly the one who says "Don't make me do this." Bob would not say this, he is a lodge spirit that feeds on suffering. No better way to get Garmanbozia than to force a man to rape and kill his only child.

Although its possible Bob is literally a metaphor for "the evil that men do," which would mean that it was Leland all along. But in the Twin Peaks universe I doubt this. Even Laura almost always saw Leland as literally being Bob during the abuse.

Leland is complicit in Bob's action. He says at the end of season 2, "I didn't kill anybody", and smiles.

This is important because that's what Coop believes and doesn't understand that maybe Leland wasn't as innocent after all. Bob didn't want to kill Laura, he wanted to possess her, he says dont make me do this, because he wanted to BE her, but is denied because she puts on the ring. Leland is literally crying during the entire act but can't help himself, because Laura found out. He says "I thought you knew it was always me", then Bob says "It was me". Juxtaposing the two serves to explain that Leland at least understood what he was doing to her.

During the dinner scene that isn't Bob that is playing with her necklace, that is Leland because he didn't turn the ceiling fan on.

So it is society's fault; if society were not so sick, homosexuals would still feel compelled to practice their sodomy in the privacy of their own bedrooms, rather than parading naked in the street 15 times per year.

You're not only wrong about your first statement (nearly every single Lynch film has at least one outstanding performance including a handful that could be considered among the greatest ever) but you fundamentally misunderstand what a director does if you believe acting is out of his control. The actors give the performance that he directs them to.
>>
>>83866890
It was Leland's doppelganger that said "I didn't kill anybody." You can tell because of the white irises. I think he was trying to mock the real Leland and unnerve Cooper.

If Leland and Bob have separate actors to symbolize whose in control, why would the actor for Leland say "Don't make me do this!" during a scene where both actors are present, if it was really Bob saying it? And wouldn't that be pretty out of character for Bob? Bob was certainly willing to kill Laura at this point, especially if she had the ring. If I can't have you, then I'll kill you. Classic psychopathic pattern.

Also I don't think the ceiling fan is that important. Bob has been within Leland for years and often possessed him in areas very very far from the fan.

FWWM literally shows that Leland was complicit with Bob. Bob again says Don't make me do this, and screams, but then he realizes that she will deny him and then gets angry, and says that he's going to kill her. the ceiling fan IS important because its the basic conduit which Leland subconsciously associates the desire to molest his daughter with. In other areas when he dies the electricity becomes distorted and Bob is completely in control again, and kills him so he can return to the lodge.

She is not a good actress, she is ok. Not on the caliber of Watts, I was just making an analogy.
>>
>>83866947
I understand why you would see modern pride parades as a symbol of unbridled decadence, but here are two points:

1. Most homosexuals don't go to these parades and even most who do, don't act too degenerate. Its just that the particularly flamboyant ones are the ones you notice. Its confirmation bias. Should I hate white people because of the occasional KKK rally?

2. These people are normally pretty repressed because they aren't usually allowed to flaunt their sexuality like their straight counterparts. Thus, they chimp out at a parade where they feel they'll be socially validated.
>>
>>83867042
Also before that scene where both appear Bob is not on screen because it's showing you the possession rather than metaphorically showing you by showing the two actors.
>>
>>83867133
She is an excellent actress and her performances in Personal Shopper and Clouds of Sils Maria are on par with anything Watts has done outside of MD. It's a bad analogy.
>>
>>83867110
Because she's going to be in a short side story that doesn't mean anything like most of the other original characters. And Laura Dern is in and is better.

>Bob again says Don't make me do this
But Leland says this. Ray Wise. Am I remembering wrong? Isn't Frank Silva raping Laura as Leland stands back and yells this? This symbolism clearly showing that Bob is motivating the violence and Leland is helpless.

Also the doppelgangers only represent the exact inversion of their real version. Just because doppelganger cooper is evil as fuck doesn't mean copper has hidden darkness. In fact, Mr. C being evil is only evidence of the real Cooper's pure goodness.
>>
>>83867227
Coop has a darkness, it is reflected in evil Coop. Everyone does, that's the theme of the twin peaks.

Yeah leland says that but him and bob are interchanging rapidly throughout the scene. Sometimes even speaking as one.
>>
>>83867227
Also it's shown he has darkness in him because Hawk talks about how in the face of the lodge having imperfect courage can lead to you losing your soul. Coop had this in his guilt and anger of not being able to save annie or his wife caroline. This is why he fails at the end of season 2.

You'd be surprised. Growing up gay is only ever easy in certain liberal areas like parts of the U.S. and Europe etc. but even then you're a social minority which is isolating. Isolation is never good for the human spirit.

Good fucking luck if you're born in the other 70% of the world. Revealing that you aren't straight will get you ostracized at best, killed at worst.

This doesn't justify the shitty nihilistic behavior of some modern homosexuals, but come on. Every group of people have their shitty normies. I could argue against literally any group if I focused on the worst of them.

ancient greece, the fountain of western civilization, promoted openly homosexual relationships. this pro-homosexual society pioneered political participation, philosophical and scientific inquiry, drama, humanist values... if open homosexuality is a sign of social decadence, how did a decadent society like that invent the western civilization from scratch?

the most famous poet and playwright in the english language was bisexual and wrote huge amounts of love poems to another man. one of the most famous bits of love poetry in the world ("shall i compare thee to a summer's day...") is a declaration of homosexual love. people recite that on their weddings without even knowing what it means.

despite the attempts by inferior jewish and chirstian thought to suppress homosexuality, it remains the pillar of civilization. it is currently taking back its place as the most refined human relationship. fucking females is for faggots.

This. It really astounds me how much people dislike the Dougie stuff. I think it's just because they hate things that are different.

Just like people hated Better Call Saul for being "LE SLOW AND BORING XD" until they started adding in more Breaking Bad characters. Now it's "GOTTEN SO MUCH BETTER" even though the pace hasn't changed at all. People just want to clap at their televisions and pat themselves on the back for understanding references and connections.

It is traditional for English boys to have homoerotic tendencies. Certainly not all will experience this, but many frequently do. However, one expects such behaviour to cease when they reach maturity, in their late teens or early 20s. And if you're saying we should all live our lives like William Shakespeare then I have news for you... nor will we ever be as gifted as Shakespeare was.

Try to compare the carnival debauchery of modern gayness with the Greek ideal passed down the centuries which you just alluded to. I personally wouldn't want to take that comparison too far...

So what were the pieces of paper Hawk found in the men's room door? More missing pages from Laura's diary that Leland hid there? Something that Dopplecoop hid there?

In FWWM, Annie appears and tells Laura that she is in the lodge with good Cooper, who is trapped there, and she tells Laura to write it in her diary. If Laura wrote it, it was obviously never found in S1+S2. LelandBOB would have known what it was about, but why hide the pages instead of just ripping them out and destroying them?

...and proceeded to culturally colonize its conquerors, so that soon after the entire mediterranean spoke greek as a lingua franca, worshiped renamed greek gods, followed greek philosophical thought, and, you guessed it, practiced greek love. even the christians had to incorporate greek thought into their religion before anyone could treat them seriously. where do you think the trinity comes from? hellenistic neoplatonism. you're still living in a world where everything from politics to science to the arts follows the models set by the openly homosexual society of ancient greece. the concept of citizenship? gay greeks. the scientific method? gay greeks. endless words and terms you use every day? gay greeks. epic and dramatic storytelling? gay greeks. athletics? gay greeks. social responsibility for your country? gay greeks.

homosexuals invented your world. you live and breathe their culture. deal with it.
>>
>>83868185
>If Laura wrote it, it was obviously never found in S1+S2.

What gives you that impression? Because it was never found? FWWM is a prequel.

The common assumption is that Mike, as Phillip Gerard, had those pages (found at the train car when he throws Laura the ring at the end of FWWM) and stashed them in the door when he was being interrogated by the TPPD.
>>

>What gives you that impression? Because it was never found? FWWM is a prequel.

Nice tautology. Yes, If Laura wrote it in her diary, it was never found by the police/Cooper in S1+S2 because they would wonder who this Cooper guy Laura was writing about was.

>The common assumption is that Mike, as Phillip Gerard, had those pages (found at the train car when he throws Laura the ring at the end of FWWM) and stashed them in the door when he was being interrogated by the TPPD.

except homosex was present in those cultures during their golden ages of productivity and invention, it did not "pop up" at the end. are you really telling me greeks weren't "open with sex" until the end? have you even heard of dionysus? the greeks have always considered losing themselves in unconstrained sexual desire to be a fundamental religious experience that all people should regularly partake in. it's the repressed jews and chirstians that banished human vitality from the realm of the sacred, turning the divine into something cold and dead.

"YOU MUST WAKE UP, DON'T DIE" = PAUL DRINKING THE WATER OF LIFE IN DUNE

Dougie will become the Kwisatz Haderach and achieve CHIM. Twin Peaks exists inside the memory and perception of Paul Atredis when he saw all of space and time. Every Lynch movie takes place inside the mind of Kwisatz Haderach at that moment. Kyle MacLachlan also played the Kwisatz Haderach in Blue Velvet.

Lynch is a mastermind. Keep watching and you will see.
>>
This episode had no right to be this fucking good.
>>
(I haven't read the book yet so bear with me)
.

So remember in the twin peaks movie how Annie appears on Laura's bed and tells her the good dale is in the black lodge and tells her to write it in her diary before disappearing? I watched a deleted scene from the missing pieces and it shows Annie after she's rescued from Glastonbury where the lodge is, on a hospital stretcher being rushed to the emergency room. Then it shows Annie in a hospital bed and this sketchy nurse walks in and she tells the nurse the exact same thing she told Laura: the good dale is in the black lodge and he needs help. The nurse ignores her and steals the gold owl cave ring that Annie now has on her finger. Then the scene switches to the black lodge and the midget tells cooper he can't leave and someone else has the ring (Annie). When it goes back to Annie, the nurse is wearing the ring and you can see Annie in the background laying there and she looks kind of dead bro like not moving or in a trance. I tried to watch closely to see if she was breathing and it didn't look like it. Okay so fast forward to the new episode we just watched yesterday. Remember how Hawk finds those pages behind the door in the station bathroom? Those are the missing pages on Laura palmer diary that's gonna tell them that the good cooper is in the black lodge. So Annie was able to send a message back in time to Laura that night before she passed away. (I think the nurse kills her by taking the ring off or something because she doesn't say anything or move when she does) That's what I came up with so far. I probably need to do much more research and I'm welcome to any theories or important details to know.
>>
Can someone explain to me why did Bob give Leland's garmonbozia to Mike? Is Mike the alpha in the Black Lodge or something? And why did Mike, after finding Bob and Laura on the abandoned train, suddenly decided to go home after chasing them? I thought he wanted to stop Bob or something, yet he did nothing.
