For most of the books they're canon until contradicted and I imagine it's the same for the newest one. People just can't accept that Twin Peaks isn't a 100% Lynch production, even if it is mostly him. With the new one though it was written by one of the writers after the new season was written so it's stupid to think they won't share things. I don't know how involved Lynch would have been with the Autobiography or Laura's Secret Diary or how they influence what he's making if they do at all.
