not to go full on HAHAHA LYNCHED on the people complaining about violence against women, which has actually been quite extreme so far this season, but I do think this is pretty deliberate. Kinda like the guy getting his shit kicked in repeatedly in episode 5. This whole season to me has been about subverting tropes and expectations. It's so over the top that it's almost humorous if not for how fucked up it is.

And frankly also I don't think Lynch is endorsing this sort of behavior either. BOB in the original series is speculated by one character as representing "the evil that men do". That's to me is a a decent summation of the core conflict of the entire series. But there will no doubt be Jezebel articles.

Everything about that scene was hilarious. The whole idea that this conspiracy shadow organization's preferred method of carrying out assassinations is to just send a midget with an ice pick running into the building is comedy gold on its own. Then the way he just starts slaughtering everyone he sees, and gets depressed when he bends the ice pick. Plus with that silly electronic beat playing the whole time, it's like an updated version of a scene of gruesome violence with some cheery classic song playing.

The Dougie scenes are a lot like some of Leland's scenes before you find out he's the murderer of Laura Palmer.

The original show had Leland jumping onto his daughter's coffin and the coffin lift got stuck making him go up and down in a really comical manner. Then there were all those scenes with Leland crying and trying to dance with everyone.

The Dougie scenes are basically the same thing, they're funny but uncomfortable and sad all at the same time.

Agreed. It's an 18 hour Lynch movie. The first 4 episodes felt really great to watch but I think they'd feel just as disjointed as the current episodes if I had to wait a week between each.
