hey guys I have a pretty interesting university task

I need to find examples of manipulation, lies, violence / crime, superstitions / prejudices, mental disorders and traumatic situations (with demonstration of protective reactions) in fiction, TV series or films.

You can use those scenes of the Eighth Doctor getting bashed with electric batons. He also has a long dialogue with his fellow captive (there is a lot of good material about politics and the purpose in cowing people) about the making of his fictional worlds and constantly reassures his fellow captive that he will find a way to get the other guy out.

There is no such thing as an objective news outlet. Everyone has conscious and subconscious biases that dictate how they portray a story and what facts they deem necessary or unnecessary to present. Look at the headlines on CNN and compare them to Breitbart - they're just as clickbaity and aggressively telling you what to think of a story before you even read it. The pictures chosen for articles are also very telling of how the publication wants you to feel about a story. Just compare who gets a picture smiling or looking stoic to who gets a picture taken while they were talking and made a funny face. None of that shit was an accident, people decided on all of it.
