All capeshit is bad aside from the Dark Knight trilogy. And only the second one was great. There are no exceptions to this.

It really was not good at all. Every time a character punctuated a joke with some forced laughing and pointing out the joke I died a little more inside. All of the serious moments felt super out of place tonally. It felt like a retread of all of marvels ideas, and worse it played out like a bad episode of a Saturday morning cartoon. You could tell it was trying really hard to be fun and funny too. On the positive side, it was very pretty.

Started off strong. When Ego got introduced, the pacing got a little weird. Climax was longer than it should have been, as was the movie. Pretty all right movie, beats your average nu Marvel movie.

laughed harder during this movie than at anything else in recent memory. Fuck the haters, I support things that tend to not make me feel like shit.
>>
I saw it yesterday evening. It was mediocre and very forgettable, but not outright bad when compared to some capeshit out there (looking at you, Thor). Far too quippy and the bad guy didn't have any real weight to him. He's a god and yet he says dumb shit like "you're pissing me off, peter!" during the final battle? Not even remotely tense.
>>
This shit caught me off guard. I very rarely laugh out loud at all, but this moment was so perfect I was in the theater fucking laughing and clapping, some other guy started clapping with me. I would pay full price and watch this flick just for this scene.

I don't see how it's not the best of the Marvel Studios flicks due to the fact it has an antagonist who is an actual fucking character. This, Iron Man 1, and Captain America 2 are the only Marvel movies really worth a second watch.

Audio-visual porn with a serviceable plot and characters, doesn't try to be something it's not. Melodrama can be a bit much and the excessive quips are awful ("Welcome to the Guardians of the freaking Galaxy - but he didn't say freaking" ruined a great moment, along with "you are beautiful on the inside" towards the ending). Still enjoyable!
>>
>>82512083
That scene got a mild chuckle from the audience in my theater. It just isn't that funny.

What? Ego doesn't even feel remotely believable. You can smell the evil dripping off of him from the very first scene, unless you're mentally handicapped.

Different anon here. I thought it was garbage on the first run through because for an "espionage/thriller" it was so plodding and predictable. I left the theater ready to fall asleep. I ended up watching it again last year and enjoyed it much more at face value of just being standard capeshit. Which it was.

I think the first Captain America is better in every way, though. Except for the fact that the movie offers no real closure within itself because the ending just serves to set up Avengers.
>>
>>82512302
>Winter soldier was fucking garbage, opinion discarded
T-thanks y-you too

>You can smell the evil dripping off of him from the very first scene, unless you're mentally handicapped.
Doesn't exclude the fact he's a character that passes the "describe them without plot relevance" test compared to Yellowjacket, Dormammu, Iron Monger, Zemo, etc

What was your favorite Marvel movie kinomaester?
>>
>>82512357
There is literally nothing wrong with goypple
>>
Pretty solid movie.

Better action sequences than the first movie. They were more aggressive with the jokes, and not all of them worked, but they had more hits than misses.

Marvel needs to let more directors run with their franchises like they're letting Gunn.
>>
>>82512302
>Winter soldier was fucking garbage, opinion discarded
>>
Was solid. I didn't like the dramatic moments in his movie though.

It's always two characters yelling and then one character has an emotional breakthrough and says something vulnerable and then they both pause.

Very formulaic
>>
DUDE DANCE OFF LMAO
>>
How many times did Drax laugh? I feel that was a running gag in this film.
>>
>>82512302
>Winter soldier was fucking garbage, opinion discarded

this. It's so predictable and nothing sets it apart from other Marvel "films". People often quote the duuuude it's a political thriller not a capemovie but just simply stating that doesn't make it so.
>>
>>82512366
>I thought it was garbage on the first run through because for an "espionage/thriller" it was so plodding and predictable. I left the theater ready to fall asleep.
This is how I felt. An abundance of cgi, essentially one long, awful boring action scene where Cap beats down hordes of bad guys. It very nearly did put me to sleep. I thought the whole plot was really dumb as well. Really there is not a single good thing I can say about that turd.

>>82512374
>What was your favorite Marvel movie kinomaester?
Iron Man 1 is objectively the best Marvel movie. The original GotG was pretty good, and so was the original Captain America. The rest of the Marvel cinematic universe is a sea of formulaic mediocrity and utter trash
>>
>>82510610
LOGAN is far better

>>
>>82512547
>Really there is not a single good thing I can say about that turd.
I think the one point in the movie I got excited was when they found the bunker with Dr. Zola's brain on a huge computer. I thought they were going to do something really interesting with that, because that was the kind of crazy time-hi-jinks I was hoping for in this movie. Instead he was just used to dump exposition and reveal the laziest villain reveal ever:
>"By the way, Steve, tons of evil stuff totally happened while you were frozen for 70 years. We've never really talked about it or shown it, but here are some newspaper clippings. And guess what. It was all Hydra. Hah!"
Then they blew him up. I felt kind of burned. Even more so when they revealed they had planned for Zola to do more and be in a robot body and fight Cap, because that actually would have been cool as fuck, but they said they "couldn't make it work". And here I thought Marvel was all about "fun".

Saw it just a few hours ago.

Its just about as good and maybe bettwr than the first. If you liked that you'll like this.

I simply appreciate that a movie like it was made under a corporation like Disney. Its cohesive under James Gunn since he wrote and directed, its got some stylish direction, an insane amount of color and effects, and overall fun cheesy scifi comedy.

If you expected more then yoj went in with the wrong idea bu i thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was. Some of the story arcs were a bit by the numbers and some retread but i was surprised by how caught up in the experience i was.

Enjoy the visuals and comedic parts and the much better 3rd act.

I know this thread is cancer just by this salty cunt>>82510620

If you thought SS was stylish and colorful then GoG2 would give you a fucking seizure.
>>
>>82512630
Peter wasn't that sensitive about at the time she made the mix-tape because he was a child. His resentment and sensitivity develops later.
>>
>>82512755
>If you liked that you'll like this
False. I really liked the first one and was so utterly disappointed by the plodding, predictable nature of this one. And far too much comedy, not enough adventure
>>
All capeshit is shit no exceptions. Disney and Time Warner literally hire out armies of shills to gaslight you into having opinions about these "films" that are not your own.

> Muh Captain America 2 was a thrillur!
It was the worst thriller ever its a garbage movie same with the Batman movies and Logan and all the other Marvel shit. If you take away the brand recognition and the paid shilling and hype on YouTube and stop being told what to feel about those movies they instantly become garbage when held on their own merits. That being said GOTG is a shitty kids movie but I kinda liked it
>>
>>82512755
>>82510571
Overall id say solid 6.5 or 7/10

Its weird and colorful which distinguishes it from any other movie that will come out this year even if the rest is mediocre or stays the course.

Id be wary of the polarized opinions here. Its neither terrible nor lmao amazing. People are just edgy cunts try to fit in by posing in their capeshit cliches
>>
>>82512819
Worked for me man. I thought they were equally as predictable.

Was there ever any doubt that the GotG would win in either? Theyre just particularly well executed scifi comedy imo which suits me fine.

But its hard to have nuance in detail here
>>
>>82512724
Really gets the noggin' joggin'
>>
both my dad and i preferred the first, we thought they tried too hard with the jokes. the characters felt more relaxed though especially gamora, she was super stiff in the first.
Anyway, the strong scenes were strong but i don't know if the rest is even worth watching.
>>
I don't consider GOTG to be capeshit. It's more like whacky space adventures with witty racoon who kills people made for kids. It's superior to everything in its genre that is DCU fi fantasy for example GOTG is better than Star Trek reboot, The Star Wars prequels and sequels, The Hobbit films the shitty Hunger games franchise standalone shit like Jupiter Ascending it's really the best Sci Fantasy geared for kids for the past 20 years or so
>>
>>82512222
Well put anon.

>>82512302
I knew he was the villain before seeing it and didnt notice excessive foreshadowing.

Its not like its a fucking mystery or arthouse sublety but its not "dripping evil" you have to have a very preconcieved or skewed idea of the movie to get that interpretation.

I'm curious about these two.
Stallone plays Stakar, the dude on the left.
Michelle Yeoh plays Aleta, on the right.

There's a lot of bullshit comic book continuity between the two. Do you think they'll even go the Starhawk route at all with them?
>>
>>82513070

Realistically this movie is a 6.5/10 for neutral movie goers who don't really care about the Marvel brand, maybe a 7/10 depending on if your sense of humor mixed well with the jokes.

looked great, kurt russell as the bad guy was pretty good. suffers from the same problem as the first movie (cutting the tone of a scene in half with a joke) and a few of the action setpieces were boring and tension-free. i laughed a bunch of times. was satisfied. not great, certainly not terrible or even bad. decent.

Too many forced characters.

Maybe it's because I've played the fuck out of Awesome Mix vol. 1 but I find vol. 2 much more repeatable.

Songs are mellower. I thought vol. 1 had great songs but they just got a bit overbearing so they didn't blend well into each other as a playlist (though this wasn't really the intent). vol. 2 just has soft music that's consistent. Plus the original Guardians Inferno ft. Zardu Hasselfrau is great.

The tumor broke my "immersion" so hard I never recovered.

"Hey, let's take Ego; have him talk about how mortals are insignificant, and then in the same scene shoehorn in that he was so affected by one that he had to kill her even despite in the same breath talking about how he reproduced with hundreds of other species in an attempt to create a child."

Who the fuck thought that was a good idea for any reason other than to turn something remotely interesting into a by the numbers villain? He goes from interesting concept of immortal being to turbo hitler in the span of 30 seconds.

Let's not even talk about how he can control the entire planet as an extension of himself but only in the darkest hour when we need to feel that our cast is in danger and no other times without any explanation.

Or how Yondu is powerful enough to walk through leagues of his own men with absolute ease or why he would destroy 3/5ths of his ship for no reason. This action only serves to give tasermeme enough time to loop the sovereign back into the plot because ego isn't threatening enough?? Despite being powerful enough to destroy all of their ships in the opening with one of his own, which we see he has many more of docked and which he should be able to use.

Let's not even go there

Ego is an *egomaniac*. He kills her in service to his egtistical end-game; It's precisely because he wants to view mortals as insignificant that being in actual, real love with a mortal was harshing his vibe. It's like breaking up with your gf to get super good at Jazz with J.K. Simmons.

>Or how Yondu is powerful enough to walk through leagues of his own men with absolute ease or why he would destroy 3/5ths of his ship for no reason.

I though Yondu's weapon was dumb in the first Gotg mainly because I had no idea how it worked, but they kind of establish in this movie that it's a finesse weapon that A: anyone in principle can use and B: is very hard to use. Yondu must've been using that thing for decades to get that good with it.

The "plot" is amateurish C-movie tier and the characters of a soap opera have more charisma than this "band of misfits". Lots of colorful shit on display, but not a single shot deserves to be in a kino screen. The soundtrack is cringy and out of place and every pop-reference and feels tuned for the population of Idiocracy (muh hasselhoff). Saw it yesterday, meme free post:

Only time I laughed was when Mantis got bashed in the head when everyone was posing.

I found a few other jokes amusing but... Not worth laughing (I laughed plenty at deadpool, I'm no patrician in terms of quality).

I enjoyed the trailers much more than the film. I felt like there was no meaningful humor. Each character had the exact same jokes. And all the gags were predictable and pointless.

Speaking of... Mantis was completely useless. No reason for her to exist in the film. She didn't reveal anything that characters didn't discover on their own.

The entire mutiny subplot was also a big pointless gag-sequence. With an oddly epic arrow-murder sequence (I say oddly epic because, while cool, it wasn't a particularly epic fight in terms of narrative ).

Lots of little things that made this feel much weaker to me than the first. I get that people at large seemed to like it, but it was pretty disappointing imo.

The thing is, if you do this once or twice it can land. But with gotg2 it was extremely boring and predictable.

Almost even worse was that the jokes made weren't clever, just blunt. Really..lazy.

Also EVERY character makes jokes. It's not like there were a few serious characters for the main cast to joke off of... No instead we have the golden people being obvious asses, (the carpet roll out, the laughing at tazerface) and a fucking Celestial ruining a heartfelt moment by declaring g he's gotta take a whizz.

Why? Why does every character have the same loud crass retard humor?
>>
I thought it was very well put together and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It accomplished what it set out to do, "be a fun middle section where characters learn things about each other". It wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel and it didn't need to, I felt it handled the emotional parts well.

>>82535092
You're retarded.
>I felt it was made to be a waste of time. Good job mouse!

If "team bonding" was the point it could have been handled a million times better.

Antagonists: goldfags, celestial (a twist everyone saw coming), and space pirates.

Useless characters: nebula, Mantis, baby groot, every space pirate except for blue dude.

It was a mess. It got away with it because lazy "shock" comedy and slow-mo sequences with 80s pop are memetastic.

So an orphan boy who is raised by a gruff father figure gets involved in with a D&D party dedicated to fighting an evil warlord.

The orphan discovers he has magical powers and uses them to win during the climax, saving the lives of his friends.

In the sequel, the magical orphan meets his father. His father turns out to be evil and the gruff father stand in who raised him was just protecting him from Evil Dad.

Evil Dad tries to sway Magical Orphan into joining his cause, but they fight instead.

Disney films murder people in cold blood and in horrific ways.

Does she actually shave her hair for the role?

Just got out of the theater.

Pacing of the movie felt a bit off, to many jokes but there were quite a few good ones, for some reason 3 or so people in the audiance decided that EVERY JOKE was the funniest thing they had ever haerd and drowned out the movie with their laughter each time.

During the funeral Batista quips quietly, and the chuckle fuck in front of me bursts out laughing ruining the quiet scene.

1st movie was better, but overall it wasn't bad. It was what you expect of a Marvel film.

Star Wars + Family Guy = shit

So are we getting a Stallone Marvel flick or what?

In other words you're a miserable fucker who doesn't want to enjoy things.

Possibly? Or maybe they'll be in the sequel. Their characters were the original guardians of the galaxy in the comics. So who knows? I'm fine with either or because I'd like to see more of the Marvel Cosmic universe.

I enjoyed the movie but the flaws were noticeable, and by the time I walked out of it I wasn't surprised or really blown away by any aspect of the movie.
Quips, fight scenes, some form of drama.

The biggest issue of this movie was the sheer amount of jokes they tried to pull, sure a lot worked but at the same time a ton fell flat.

Batista turned into a meme character where EVERYTHING he did was because of a joke. Even in his "heart to heart" moment with Mantis he was doing jokes. Baby Groot was just there to sell merch, the sister drama wasn't interesting, and a blind guy could tell petes dad was the bad guy.

One of the moments I'm still surprised by is why would Ego just casually drop "Oh btw I gave your mom that turmor" when trying to bring Pete under his control.

That entire scene was the definition of "Boy, that escalated quickly".

Gunn has been very specific that Vol 3 will be the end "for this incarnation of the Guardians". I feel like Stallone and his team will play a pretty big role in Vol 3, and as long as audiences respond well to them then we'll see a "Ravagers of the Galaxy" flick announced not long after.

Nice, didn't know about that.

it was all part of his master plan

Well he probably assumed his son had already embraced being a celestial and their "purpose". When you're immortal, you tend to care less about stuff, because whats the point? It could have also been just a slip of the tongue. idk, as James Gunn, he wrote the shit.
