It's China, Korea is nowhere close

Japan: Some of the universally agreed upon best directors of all time such as Kurosawa and Ozu, long and diverse film history, and some interesting contemporary directors such as Nakashima or Sono.

China: No real deep film history, but Taiwan and Hong Kong have produced some great directors such as WKW, Edward Yang, HHH, and Tsai Ming Liang.

Korea: No real film history, made a few decent thriller movies in recent years. Entertaining movies, but not a lot of diversity or depth to any of them.

That's why the Assads run the show in Syria, they're palatable enough to the majority of the groups in Syria and not inclined towards oppressing any one group.
It's also why they're so opposed to the Sunni majority getting more political power, they know where it will go.
If you want a reformist group then you want the Ahmadi.
Who are quite literally every left wing "islam is the religion of peace!" trope in one convenient package. They believe the Islamic messiah has been and gone. Very much compatible with the west for the most part.

That movie did nothing new, it wasn't anything impressive or gripping, everything felt like it was just another crime movie trying to seem cool and one up the rest by having an Epic tweeest at the end. It's about 2 and a half hours of something you've already seen done better a dozen times. It's not bad in any way but to say it's a must see is such stretch.
