>12 hours of kids shows with subtle liberal propoganda
>PBS Nightly News sponsored by the Democrat party
>BBC news telecast for some reason ft. globalists
>Marathon of old people selling useless junk - the reality show
>Telethon - gib me money pls
>some shitty opera or theater program
>science/nature documentary about muh climate change
>random episode of forgotten BBC shitcom from 1992
>Telethon #2 - pls gib more $$$$
>random episode of mid-2000s BBC crime drama that is essentially CSI or Law and Order with accents
>some fucking history documentary about Democrats being good and Republicans being bad
>30 minutes of watching paint dry

Wow. Yeah, this DEFINITELY needs to be funded with billions of taxpayer dollars and not outright shut down.

PBS used to be really based in the 90's.

>Mr Rogers
>Bob Ross reruns
>pre-cucked Sesame Street
>Nature
>Nova
>PBS Mystery, you would get stuff like Granada Sherlock Holmes, or Poirot, or Inspector Morse
>Keeping up Appearances reruns
>occasional broadcasts of operas or some kind of unique show with only intermissions inbetween to sell the thing and shill for the channel's money (I once saw the Blue Man Group on there)
>occasional Monty Python and Fawlty Towers
>decent children's stuff like Cyber Chase, Clifford, Barney, Theodore the Tugboat, Noddy Shop
>Charlie Rose was in his prime, and hadn't been bought by CBS yet
>PBS News Hour was still about news, and was the last straight news show on the air when the rest of them became overglorified entertainment in the 00's, Jim Lehrer was still the main anchor and head of the show

Honestly, PBS really was worth it back then. But sadly, PBS these days is no longer the PBS that Mr Rogers defended. And while being "viewer supported" and Govt funded was originally supposed to keep it neutral, it's clear that this failed. because the big organizations and (((non-profits))) that contribute obviously influence it.

Not to mention PBS is run by Paula (((Kerger))) and WNET, the NY/NJ broadcaster affiliate is run by Neal (((Shapiro)))

A&E also used to show opera and theatre and is now Duck Dynasty and Storage Wars: the channel.

I blame libtards and jews dumbing down the country with lowbrow degenerate programming.

>>
>>81829672
they still get money back from merchandising, faggot. still have to get ratings to sell merch.

The perception is that employees get paid to do nothing. In reality public stations operate with minimal essential employees and shoestring budgets. its a more cost effective system than anything you could find in commercial television, it also caters to a niche and doesnt degrade itself like any commercial station whoring themselves for ratings
>>
>>81829782
>I was referring more to A&E (and other networks like Bravo, Discovery, History, TLC, Nat Geo, etc.) getting dumbed down. Was that the libs too?

Essentially. Those networks' decline from arts and culture and educational programming to utter trash targeted to the lowest common denominator indeed the work of a systematic progressive and globalist effort to dumb down our society and make us complacent to government whims via mass media sources.
>>
>>81829656

Bush and Obama greatly expanded the PBS and NPR budgets. It's virtually impossible to find since google has become a propaganda outlet, and I don't have the time or patience to look for the pdfs in the propaganda search results.

middle class educated audiences got sick of constant pandering through commercials and emigrated to streaming services as they became available. Older and poorer demographics stayed watching television and no longer had interest in higher brow education. >>
>>81830425
>But free market capitalism had nothing to do with the death of arts and culture in mass media
no but unsurprisingly the cheapest products are oftentimes the worst for us to consume. and a degredation of the value of education through television and commercials makes us more suspeptible to advertising and less interested in more challenging content.
This society is fucked because we are lazy and shortsighted, we want to chase the capitalist dream with none of the sacrifice that it recquires to succeed. This is why countries who have taken up these values (asia) are bridging the gap and were losing influence. Capitalism was our best weapon but we let it degenerate us

Be fair though, why would anyone WITHOUT a circle with the power to influence all or nearly all mainstream media even try?

Frankly, they just didn't count on FOX delivering down-homey counter-propaganda. A potentially fatal error, some decades down the line.

Forget the mainstream media all agreeing on nearly everything to establish it as fact, don't any of you enlightened true believers ever find it odd how extremely similar their selection bias is? How they all report and promote more or less the same things, large or small, despite the plethora of news happening on a variety of scales of importance constantly?

How all of their puff pieces follow one of a few given narratives...not the only narratives that can draw views, as Fox has proven with their own overt puff pieces resulting in them becoming the single largest network. Yet every other network continues to dance by the same formulas when they should be trying new and exciting formulas to edge each other out. If not for political, ideological purposes, than what?

Forget all of this small, partisan bullshit and notice, admire, understand the method underlying these things for once.

No, it's because crime is news, and good samaritans are entertainment. Crime is something with potential to affect you or your family or friends - something serious you need to be aware of. A good samaritan will not change anything in your life whether you hear about them or not. You'll just smile and feel all doublegood inside.

You're more of a commie fuck than I am, even if you only watch Fox News Channel, because you're nothing more than controlled opposition by the jews and media you think you're fighting against.

I've argued in these threads before how I dislike PBS News Hour for being leftist bent (better than BBC America but that's not saying anything), but it doesn't mean blatant strawmanning bullshit like the OP is actually accurate or relevant, nor does it imply my suggestion that the biggest heat on PBS currently is from ignorant cable network drones.

>he can't spot an obvious troll

just FYI you are the target audience for actual fake news

>PBS is fucking great because they broadcast other shit you wouldn't otherwise find (even right-wing programming).
They still carry on where A&E and Discovery and History all left off 15 - 20 years ago.

History Channel moved its actual history content to H2 Channel and Military Channel for Hitler stuff
>>
>>81834062
Why is no one talking about this? Some of the replies are also the same.

True, but PBS were doing such programs before those networks even existed. Also miniseries back in the day like Centennial, top-tier history shows.
>>81836428
Yes goy, just get the package with these next-level channels to watch the actual programming we used to have (and pay for these subscriptions to still view commercials). Fuck cable/satellite television distribution, there is literally no reason for that bullshit if you live in any sort of major city and have a copper wire.
>>
>>81836428
H2 shut down a year ago and Military is now the "American Heroes Channel" whose schedule consists of "UFO: the Lost Evidence" and "Codes and Conspiracies"

>True, but PBS were doing such programs before those networks even existed. Also miniseries back in the day like Centennial, top-tier history shows.

Absolutely, though in the grand scheme of arts and education related programming on cable and broadcast tv, those were definitely PBS' contemporaries throughout the 80s and 90s and early 00s

>waaaah there is one channel not behold to private interests!

kys amerikuk.
your fox heros went to the supreme court last year seeking legal permission to knowingly lie to you & still call it news. the court said sure why not?

enjoy your slavery.

fair enough, I don't watch TV anymore

end. all. television.

I feel you. I cut the cord 6 months ago and now do sling and local broadcast tv via an antenna, though I mainly just use my sling account to stream stuff from the channel's websites or VoD.

That's when I'm not just using Netflix of course.

Cyberchase could come back. There's been no word either way, and they've gone longer before without a new season.

Meanwhile, the BBC is openly firing people for being white males now.

Retard. You can take this type of logic and run with it. Why should you have to pay for any government program if you disagree politically? I don't agree on ANY level with our retarded president throwing a fucking MOAB at a small group of sand niggers, show me the fucking opt-out papers for paying for that garbage?
>>
>>81836200

The reason you think this is the case is because of selection-bias.
>>
Cutting off funding from PBS is retarded because of how insignificant it is.Every American only pays 1 Dollar annually in taxes to PBS, there is a bigger issue(military) but like a crazy heroin addict they will cut out spending for food and housing for the "essentials" in this case more tomahawks and funding welfare queens.
>>
>>81824778
>spend billions of times more bombing civilians than we do on PBS
>cutting PBS will make a serious dent in the government deficit

Pick one and only one.

I really liked Zoom as a kid.

Average Trump Schedule
>Wake up
>Golf in Scotland
>Be """informed""" ISIS is lose again
>Have to make a """choice"""" to bomb Syria
>Inevitably bomb the shit out of Syria with missiles that cost millions
>Come back to the White House and have the first lady ride your flaccid cock
Wow. Yeah, this DEFINITELY needs to be funded with billions of taxpayer dollars and not outright shut down.
>>

If you seriously think liberals are the one who are watching fucking Duck Dynasty and Finding Bigfoot in high enough numbers to let them replace the actual content that used to air on their channels then you're fucking STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPID!
