You do know that most of the government funding goes toward distributing vouchers to small PBS stations use to get a discount on paying for national programming (NOVA, NATURE, American Experience, so on). So in effect if you remove funding you are pretty much going to shut down rural (heavily republican) PBS stations which can't fully fund themselves via fundraising as their population density is low.

Shutting off government funding WILL NOT end PBS in any large city. Just the rural folks like me.

NPR really disappoints me with it's ever more obvious bias. I know it's always been 'rich city liberal radio', but it's gotten notably worse since I started listening to it last October. The level of dialogue and discussion about subjects is much better then about 90% of non-print news I've seen but that ever increasing bias undermines it.

And the only people who don't understand why Republicans want to defund it either don't listen to it or are liberals that can't see their own bias.

Basically, updating their educational models for the current generation of children.
Sesame Street is a multi-generational show that adapts to contemporary standards.
If you actually go out and buy the old-school DVD sets they made, there's a notice that the episodes on there may not be suitable for today's children.
Not that the show back in 1969 was inappropriate for them, but the way they used to teach children back then wouldn't necessarily work today.
That's why they constantly have focus group testing where they show groups of kids episodes that they're working on to see what works and what doesn't.
