>top tier show with top tier gun play incoming OP
>>
>>81349894
No. That's a safety meme for range monkeys so people who burn through five hundred rounds a week in a contained space don't go deaf. Living with constant 65+db background noise in a city is worse on your hearing than a little occasional gunfire. Also with hearing loss, you lose your high frequency hearing earlier, but still keep most of the functional stuff.

You'll lose more hearing in a rock concert or working a day at an airport without protection than in the average firefight. Unless there's explosions, because boy does that fuck up hearing.

I never thought the garbage people's reason for joining Ricks war made any sense.

>give us guns and we'll fight for you even though we aren't involved at all

Fucking what? You'd need guns just to launch the attack in the first place, so why would you risk the lives of all your people just for a few extra guns. I can't remember why but I always figured that this group wasn't a vassal of Negans, so they didn't seem to have a reason for so many guns(also no mention of bullets kek).

So when they double crossed Rick it made no sense to me as to why they would go to Negan, a guy who extorts every group around him just for a payment of something. Surely they would have known that after they got in bed with Negan that he would demand tribute from them after the deal was done right?

So I think we are to assume from this that they were already paying tribute to Negan. How the fuck did no one in alexandria catch on to this? Did they literally not scope out the trash people at all to see if negans men stopped by to collect their goodies?

IIRC they used a "dummy" cartridge that had the powder removed but not the primer, and the primer had enough force to push the bullet into the barrel. Then they loaded a blank which shot out the lodged bullet.

They do not create enough recoil to cycle the gun. The recoil is produced from the pressure behind the projectile. If there's no projectile the gas escapes out the muzzle. There are adapters you screw on the end of a rifle that plug the barrel, these let you fire more than one blank at a time.

headsets that soldiers wear allow them to hear and also defend from the bad sounds

They do, Stargate SG1 used real MP5s and P90s with blank rounds for shooting scenes for its entire production run.

In fact, according to the commentary track, a lack of 5.7x28mm blank rounds due to the Iraq war is what caused Carter to have to carry around this frankenstein for a few episodes, because they couldn't show a P90 firing.

They make range earphones with microphones. At normal noise levels sounds are played through speakers in the earphones. When a certain Db threshold is reached the mic shuts off and the sound is muffled. sometimes they stagger on a bit, if they get shot in the head they drop and then stiffen up really fast. Depends on a few things but yea, you are right, never looks the way it does in film - mostly. Trying to think of a few good examples.

I bet most people would be underwhelmed if films started doing the reactions properly though.

Collateral is another good one along these lines.

My biggest problem with gun work in movies is the sound. Guns are loud, and indoors they are deafening. I have only seen a couple movies (out of literally thousands) that show people reacting realistically to guns fired indoors...They wouldn't be carrying on conversations at normal voice levels, to be sure.

Just looked it up, OP is an idiot.

The gun is real.

Seekins Precision Custom AR-15

It's just got a barrel that's the same length as the rails, so it's semi-hidden.

If you're outdoors (as they usually are) you'll actually be pretty okay. If it's a prolonged firefight your ears will probably ache a bit but you're not likely to end up deaf or anything.

Gunfire is a problem for hearing if you're firing indoors without ear protection, or if it's right next to your damn ear.

Fun fact: self-protection inside your home is one of the main reasons suppressors exist - the idea is to be able to fire your gun inside your own house without also fucking up your ears. It's still really fucking loud though - if you ever see a movie or show where a suppressor makes a gun basically silent or that high-pitched "squeak" it's fucking wrong. A suppressor won't do shit to stop people from overhearing a murder, it's still fucking loud.

I think it's in Johnny Get Your Gun, or maybe All Quiet On the Western Front, where the MC talks about first seeing soldiers get shot and how they just drop, and it not being like in the movies. There was no drama to it, but that made it scarier.

I think movies should just show people dropping instead of being pushed back like their being punched.

forgot to mention, they were also in 5.56x45mm NATO, a typical one on a helicopter is 7.62x51mm NATO. I think a 7.62 one would probably completely spin you around if you did a quick burst, because even typical battle rifles chambered in 7.62 are uncontrollable at regular RPMs, and a minigun is several times the RPM of those.
