Anyone that thinks season 2 is better than season 1 is a genuine fucking retard.

S2 was (rightly) disliked because there was no foil for the unadulterated moodiness and depression. Rust worked because Marty existed. There was no one in s2 to lift the mood out of the black, straight-faced mire every once in a while.

The plot was also baffling. Pizzolatto managed to somehow create a story that was simultaneously convoluted and paper thin. It just wasn't compelling at all.

I predict that there will be 16 main characters, upping the ante from Season 2. The conspiracy plot will cover the entire United States, and the amount of episodes will go from 8 to 6. In the final episode, everybody in North America, who is not involved in the evil conspiracy, will die.

Can't have lower stakes than Season 2.
