The mission of /lbg/ is to promote the intelligent discussion of film as art by providing members with opportunities for intellectual discussion, by recognizing patrician taste through examinations and by calling out embryos as they arise.

Why do you watch movies for directors or place emphasis on directors over editors, screenwriters, actors, producers, or cinematographers?

Because that is what is most interesting.
>>80694852
Yep, I'm really glad I decided to do this silent film mini-project,
It's shown me a whole other side of film that I probably would've never seen or thought about otherwise.
Do you have any other recommendations? A few big ones I'm still missing are Greed (1924), Les Vampires (1915), Metropolis (1927), and I want to see if I can delve deeper into some of F.W. Murnau's other works. Do you have any idea where I could find a version of Der letzte Mann (1924) with either English intertitles or subtitles?
>>80696826
Not that anon, and not entirely familiar with silent cinema either, but Metropolis is fantastic. Watch it ASAP.

Private torrent trackers.

Commando obviously

>Why do you watch movies for directors or place emphasis on directors over editors, screenwriters, actors, producers, or cinematographers?
This is one of the dumbest questions I've ever read on /tv/. Who ever asked this, or thought it was a good point of discussion, clearly has no idea about film making or cinema in the slightest.
>>80697217
I have not, what is it about?

What about Class of 1984?

I first saw this as a teen and thought that was really Shelley Winters underwater.

Safety last, the Student prince in Old Heidelberg, Seven year's bad Luck, Sherlock Jr., Lagong; Dance of the Virgins and the Crowd are all good.
>>80697217
Pabst's best is Der Dreigroschenoper.

>It's shown me a whole other side of film that I probably would've never seen or thought about otherwise.
i'm glad you are looking into the silent era with your project, but why wouldn't you have bothered with it otherwise?
>>80696826
I would recommend without hesitation any of Dreyer's silent films, with The Parson's Widow being a personal favourite (and Dreyer's only comedy).
>>80700773
Master of the House has funny bits
>>80700588
I was caught off guard how inspired much of the composition was. If Laughton was more proud of it he probably would have been a successful director.

WHAT'S UP FAGS
>>80703231
That's a disappointment. I thought we had a super smart guy making the OP's
>>80703231
It's not from that video. I tried reverse image already. I think it's from Godard's Histoire du Cinema.
Thanks anyway.

Why don't we have serious patrician generals?
>>80704662
Who would post in them?
>>80692517
Hello, guys.
Is this where patricians hangout?
Help me build a watch-list.
Recommend me some good movies, please.
Anything really as long as its not trying to be forcefully artsy.
I could rarely watch a movie nowadays because life so I'm gonna go with quality vs quantity option.
I mostly just care about visual and aural aspects of a film but whatever. As long as its not trying to be forcefully artsy.Skip the arthouse canon because I've seen most of those.

no
No one else noticed this thread isn't a patrician hub? It looks like some pleb space
That said, I ask for some scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and some hashbrowns, then I.. Oh god someone's strangling it and now he ra- Oh shit it's the guy from a couple posts up! HE CAN TRAVEL THROUGH POSTS! AHHHGHHHH!!!!
I feel like this thread has the highest density of autists on the board. Is it because of the redditor infestation? Or is it one autist posting non-stop?

>>80713369
It's a website about cataloguing and rating every film you ever watch and no one is every really going to see it. Of course these lots of autists in this thread.
