The Horror of Fang Rock is, well, a horror story with some of the trappings of science fiction. Probably one of the most interesting things about it is that the Doctor fucks up and everybody except himself and Leela dies. It's not especially deep but it's bleak and British as fuck.

There were a ton of movies about Vlad and Radu after Ceausescu gave a speech about how interesting it would be if people made movies examining major figures in Romanian history like Vlad and Radu, and all of them mythologised things in different ways.
