Hmm, not really any anatomical feature prominent enough to feel sufficiently characteristic like that, no. (Unless she has some congenital defect, which is unlikely since it would most likely have been symptomatic a long time ago.) Huh, I'm not sure what you might've poked against, but in some cases, the dorsal vaginal wall some 3-5 cm in can curve backwards enough to create a "sharp turn", or temporary fossa, which can snag the inserted thing. (Almost only with rather acute entry angles though, and only with very rigid things.)
If your entry angle was posterior-anterior (i.e. towards the bellybutton, or even pubis), then you might have been "caught" in the anterior fornix, which is a bit unusual but possible. (No idea what it feels like though)

Also, it's worth noting that very small changes in intraperitoneal pressure, pelvic musculature tone and posture, can cause the entire vaginal canal to be squeezed tight, and the cervix to be depressed until it's rather close to the vaginal opening. (Then things straighten out upon inserting something sufficiently rigid, of course)
The result of this is that one can hit--and slide past--the cervix far earlier than one might imagine.
