Here's a little trick I learned from my English teacher years ago that might help catch those smaller mistakes:
Read each sentence backwards. Not like in the mirror backwards, but read "Judy is top waifu" as "waifu top is Judy" What your brain does is it reads each sentence as it's supposed to be, not as it actually is, but by reading it backwards you are forced to read it word by word.

Now, I got that part, that his collar is preventing him from being honest with his feelings, and in extension, his father, but perhaps I was a bit muddy myself. What I meant is

Because afterwards, the collars forced him to lie, forced him to hide himself. He was effectively hiding everything about how he felt under the collar. That's why there's also an emphasis on emotional outbursts, anger, why he starts pulling at his neck when he gets angry or scared. He's been forced to be a liar his whole life.

The part with his father might have gotten a little muddy, but it was more just "Holy shit my son is getting hurt in front of me" sort of moment.

As for the use of the Collars to maintain an apartheid state (where Predators just HAPPEN to stay in Happytown long after official segregation ended), I don't know if there's any getting around it. The only reason they'd keep the Collars in place is to maintain a status quo. Anyone invested in it is either doing so out of fear of predators (which, frankly, Manchas' attack almost instilled in NICK) or disdain for what Predators used to do to Prey.
