yes
in ways, a bit more goofy a bit more often than season 3. the surreal bits of beatrice's past and dementia episode were real good
like the greater focus on princess carolyn.
bojack is getting very slightly better which is good. only problem is that his lack of progress is getting stale to watch at this point. glad hollyhock had a good impact on him.

The show just keeps getting better with every season. Only complaints I have with this one are that there's too much Todd, and that some of the side characters from past seasons are probably never coming back.

Also, woah there is far less porn than I expected.

She was goddamn amazing, as was the original director of Secretariat (can't remember her name).

Also, I remember reading somewhere that in light of the 2016 election, the liberal creators of the show were going to shift the focus of it toward social issues rather than personal issues. If this is the case, this was probably the last good season of BoJack Horseman.

ehhh id give it a 6/10. I felt like the majority of the season was filler with gems of really good plot drops scattered randomly. I feel like the writers came up with an insanely good story and then realized that they would never be able to stretch it out into 12 episodes so instead they just filled it with side fluff/rehasing/flanderdizing instead of coming up with more great story. There were a lot of moments that felt extremely similar to those stalling moments in modern Family Guy.
main problems that stood out to me
>spent most of the season rehasing old jokes or beating dead horses
>reopened a lot of old wounds or created a lot of lead ups that never actually amounted to anything
>The only characters that actually had any real emotion and attachment in this season were Bojack,Beatrice, and Hollyhock. Everyone else for some reason felt a lot like background noise unlike previous seasons
>contained clip shows or a lot of easy to draw cut aways so they could save time and money but just come off as annoying
>A lot of episodes/season finale didn't really end on that much of an emotional cliffhanger or bittersweet ending like previous seasons (I felt there was a lot less emotion in this season than previous seasons)
Things that were awesome
>still funny as fuck
>finally got some crude explanation as to how all these species have children
>actually show that there is some speicist tension in this world and its not all just hunky dory
>The episode "stupid piece of shit" is probably the best episode so far that actually devles a little deeper into how it feels to have depression/Beatrice's episodes that show us a look into dementia

Overall still loved the shit out of it but if this is a sign of things to come then I am really worried for the future of this show

I felt Bojack took a back seat this season. Didn't like that at all. Todd fucking sucks and so does peanut butter. Bojack parts were great though.

The stories of Beatrice and her mother actually made me think on the dominative actions of men for the first time in my entire life.

>>

Don't be stupid, what makes this show so fucking great is its focus on personal issues, and how we deal with them. Social issues aren't something you can talk about without being divisive these days, and this change will just polarize the fanbase hard while drifting away from the best part of the show. We've all seen leftist propaganda and personally, I've seen too much of it to really be bothered by it anymore; I would hate to see some deeper liberal bullshit ruin what was already a liberal show though.

Season 4 was really fucking good. Probably my favorite after S3. I also enjoy how the end didn't leave me feeling completely empty like the other 3 seasons, so that's a bit of a bonus.

I also enjoyed hollyhock's character, and the extra amount of sillyness in this season. However I will say the last scene with Diane and Mr. PB fucking killed me ;-;

>also mr peanutbutter's neutral speech about fracking had me in tears

>said feminist also stereotypically flies off the handle over small things and is a huge bitch to the best thing that's ever happened to her
And the show still paints her in the right. Go figure.
>>
>>11485603
Todd's little Axolotl girlfriend was cute though. It'll be nice to see porn of her where she's totally disinterested.
>>
>>11490514
That was during the time that feminists actually had something to fight for, and it succeeded. Modern feminists don't have anything to actually rail against so they just go after men in general.
>>
>>11499987
I don't see how the show paints her to be in the right. She and PB are sort of two facets of a caricature of hollywood liberals. PB is the guy who has no connection to reality, and is totally off in his own little world, yet has the best intentions, whereas Dianne is the caricature of the NPR-listening uber feminist who rails against anything and leverages her gender to make her points more powerful.

The whole bit about guns this season was so obvious I'm surprised nobody noticed: "Having a deadly killing weapon on me at all times simply puts me on an even footing with men." and "Men have no reason to ever have guns but all women should have them."

On a side note, she doesn't even come close to deserving mr. peanutbutter. He's a big sweetie and she doesn't even ever try to compromise with him. Everything has to be her way, and when he does nice things for her (the library) she is totally ungrateful and freaks out over nothing. She is a lazy bitch who has never had a real job, and is a professional whiner. She aborted his kid because she couldn't deal with it, despite being in the literal perfect situation for having a baby (wealth, security, and a loving husband who would be a great father). She's the most contemptible character barring Bojack at his lowest, and Beatrice all the time.

PB didn't want the baby either.
>and when he does nice things for her (the library)
This part and
>PB is the guy who has no connection to reality, and is totally off in his own little world,
This part are HEAVILY related.

Diane, was sick of his campaign, her house being ruined and the whole almost-dying-over-fracking thing leading up to that.
She never truly got over any of that and the bellroom bullshit is the final straw that broke her because it's another huge bullshit decision for her life he made behind her back.

Let's say PB is a gud boy with gud intentions, yes he is and Diane is a fuckin cunt feminist whatever, that doesn't make what PB did any more fair to her.
Keep in mind she has to live with this idiot and the stupid decisions he makes.

>>
>>11505711
>she doesn't even ever try to compromise with him.
It's pretty fucking hard to compromise with someone that's always making decisions without you.

>She is a lazy bitch who has never had a real job
Keep in mind PB gets everything handed to him because he's likable, we even saw him just wander on set and get handed the lead role for Mr. Peanutbutter's House.

He can't handle actal conflict and we've never seen him do any actual work that didn't have a level of zaniness to it.
>She's the most contemptible character barring Bojack at his lowest, and Beatrice all the time.
Beatrice doesn't even come close to Butterscotch, Beatrice had an excuse for being cold and bitter. Butterscotch didn't have an excuse for anything he did.

While she was simultaneously being fed abortion facts and propaganda, keep in mind you said.

>The show was pro-death
not
>The show was pro-diane
I think a pro-death show would end with Aquafina saying WE ABORTING THAT BITCH, or whatever you think being pro-death is about.

Keep in mind I don't expect you to ever change your mind because you're already lost in your holier-than-thou mindset, I think the entire argument depends on your perspective, you'd kill an insect that stung you, you'd murder someone that's trying to murder you, you'd "mercy kill" someone or something that will only suffer.

I don't think most people even care about life, on some level, just being a potential human isn't enough to cross that threshold for some people and I can understand that.

You think things have to loud and unsubtle. Aquafina's role was to make it look hip and trendy. She was doing it for attention. Diane on the otherhand was shown to be in the right, and anyone who didn't support her killing her child so she could be a feminist blogger was an ignorant bigot.

>Keep in mind I don't expect you to ever change your mind because you're already lost in your holier-than-thou mindset

>>
>>11506445
Yes I didn't say she wasn't, you haven't explained HER decision based on what actually happened though.

>Diane on the otherhand was shown to be in the right
Not entirely, we saw that there were parts of the conversation Diane wasn't considering, the parts that involved people on the fence, she assumed it was okay and everything was okay by default but for some people are confused and kinda freaked out. Diane hated the music video but that music video made the conversation easier for others.

>Lol, the irony of this sentence. You're full of yourself.
I never said anything was okay or bad, you're the one taking a hard stance on abortion and telling me a tv show was, in your words, "pro-death".

You even acknowledge that by not even acknowledging my perspective and jumping on how much of a sociopath I am.

You honestly can say you care about all life regardless of what it is? or do potential humans need to be given special rights to spare your innocent sensibilities?

I can see the hypocrisy in a system that's okay with only murdering 'some' people but not others and you can't? because no matter where you live that's the kind of system you live in.

Tvtropes isn't an authorative source, you retard. That episode was pretty goddamn clear about Diane being a hypocrite liberal championing issues that she didn't really understand. As is the case with a lot of her episodes, like the one where she's taken in by a charismatic humanitarian only to discover he's an ass who doesn't really do anything to help the world.

Overall, it's still a pretty liberal show. But you're just fighting shadows at this point.

PB was just supportive of her, but he did want the baby iirc. Might be wrong tho. As for him making decisions without her, it's his fucking life, he can do nice things as surprises and have his own business to handle. It's not like she ever consults with him over shit, like going to the Balkans and then having a college-esque depression-bender. The only time she ever really tries to compromise with him is when she was holding the article over his head and was essentially blackmailing him for a position he got forced into taking by dumbshit todd.

>>11507505
The only actually liberal thing about it is that it treats gay and asexual people like regular people, which is pretty much the standard in hollywood IRL. The rest of the liberalism (dianne, corporate jew liberals, croosh rat blog) is all satirizing slacktivism and being disconnected from reality.

Did anybody else here get frustrated that Bojack and Diane didn't get together? In the episode where they just get shitfaced she pretty much reveals that she also has had a lifetime of depression just like Bojack and is broken inside. Their talks definitely had more emotions than any of the moments with dianexpeanutbutter.

I like Hollyhock a lot. She really reminds me of Bojack from season 1. If the show wants to take a dark turn then they'll probably show Hollyhock get torn apart by mental illness or life in general/bojack fucking up. If they want to keep it happy then bojack will help Hollyhock become the good person that he never could become. I kind of am hoping for the bad ending but I don't know where that would lead other than bojack killing himself

I still think it would be a more emotional a beautiful ending if he did but I guess feel-good redemption is also good. At this point if they were going to kill bojack off they probably would have done it the last season. I think one of the sad parts of the new season is that bojack disappeared on bad terms for a year and nobody cared enough to look for him so If he did kill himself then nobody would have much minded or been surprised.
>>
>>11517038
>nobody cared enough to look for him
Well, everyone hates him when season 3 ends and nobody cares about him because that
>>
>>11517038
Or option 3 where Bojack doesn't kill himself. He just stays senile and douchebaggy, alienates all of his friends again, and is a repeat of his parents.

Life goes on in his endless state of entropy, unable to move or change in either direction. The mediocrity his time on TV and his parents' approval amounts to.

Or, ya know, a campy ending with a cheesy pop-song.

I liked S4 a lot. This is the third season in a row with an ending involving Bojack leading a young woman to death's door with drugs or alcohol, but at least this one is on good terms with him after. I'm glad he finally caught a break.
Can we get some nice SFW art up in here? I have no Bojack folders of any kind, and that's a tragedy.

There are definitely other liberal points here and there, as are there also points that mock liberal hypocrisies and point out that Acceptable Targets are present on all sides of the political spectrum.

There's a lot of complicated subtext because there are some complicated characters.

>Aquafina's role was
You are entitled to your wrong opinion. If Aquafina's role was meant to be a meaningless one, then the show would've made it plain. If she was keeping her child for the attention, then the show would've, y'know, actually said that was the reason. Instead, the writers decided to make both pro-choice and pro-life perspectives appear rational and meaningful, based on context.
Consider Aquafina's profession: She is a stage entertainer whose income is based on her image, which up until this point has been one of promiscuity, physical attraction, urbanity, and mobility. Having a child is going to fuck everything up - there is no other conclusion to arrive at other than that she is keeping her baby due to her own personal feelings on maternity.
Which, y'know, is obvious when you watch the show.
You did watch the show, correct?
>>
>>11516731
My guess? Neither. Little by little, it's been a 'two steps forward, one step back' sort of progression; Bojack is employed again; in spite of his obvious toxicity, he has a small circle of people who genuinely give a shit about him which, after 'Horsin' Around's end, probably has not been a thing beyond Princess Caroline soldiering on out of loyal consistency; he seems to be trying to grow up and be a better person instead of a reclusive misanthropic hedonist, although his propensity to try for leaps and fits of self-improvement - rather than baby steps - has led to a lot of relapses of generally horrible behavior.
I see this show ending with Bojack being able to wake up in the morning without wanting to kill himself - maybe not with a smile on his face, but with the belief that that day could be better than the previous.
I am kind of disappointed that he demolished the old summer home, though - usually being responsible for the death of someone you give a shit about inspires dramatic lifestyle changes, and I'd really figured that his evacuation to Harper Woods (to say nothing of the duration) represented that. Instead it just seems more like it served as a meaningless detox.
>>
>>11516636
Diane would never allow herself to be in a relationship with someone who would shit on her as much as Bojack shits on people. She's depressed for sure, but her sociopolical ideals and...well, really, her own lack of personal strength and patience for having to be reliant on that kind of person ensures that she (and really, nearly everyone) will always keep Bojack at a comfortable distance.
Because Bojack Kills.

You're a pretty stuffy bitch, but your opinion doesn't matter if you don't understand shit, so hi!
>>
>>11507505
It didn't depict abortion as wrong, it depicted clueless abortion activists as wrong. That's the kind of nuance you lose when you start getting triggered by everything that doesn't toe the party line. The entire point of the episode is that getting an abortion is still a pretty big decision. It's not one you make lightly. And that's something people on both sides get wrong, because rabid idiots treat it like a convenience, whether they're for or against.

If your point is that it didn't trumpet your politics, well, too bad. Make your own cartoon.

>As is the case with a lot of her episodes, like the one where she's taken in by a charismatic humanitarian only to discover he's an ass who doesn't really do anything to help the world.

Sebastian actually DID help, Diane just didn't like that he wasn't angsty and serious and heartfelt about his work and became rich and famous off it.

she literally thought the attitude towards the problem was more important than actually helping to fix it, St. Clair DID build those hospitals and schools, he DID save and feed those children, he didn't mope about it, he cried zero tears about those people, he didn't relate at all to their plight nor held their hand, but that was the point, none of that shit helps, "thoughts and prayers" are useless and nothing but virtue signalling and ego-stroking, Diane wanted to stroke her ego and prove to herself she was a real social justice activist, a real humanitarian worker, but in the end she hated doing it and seeing no one paid attention to her in that place for it. St Clair was disgustingly open about his fame-seeking intentions but for the people he helped it didn't matter one bit.

That was the most defining aspect for Diane in the show, because it revealed to her that she isn't cut to being the kind of person she thought she was, she's only good for writing and complaining about things and never doing anything to fix them.
