Got Trypticon today and immediately clipped a ring off the springs. Works like a charm.

Base mode is a hell of a lot better than Fort Max's, color scheme matches Six Shot pretty well, and I wish the ship's cockpit's canopy opened up to seat a deluxe figure.

I felt like I wanted some diecast in my diet but I also wanted a slugslinger, thankfully a good weeb shop had some tlk gasha things and because they're sitting loose I grabbed me an autobot and decepticon emblem, dunno what to do with them but I could bling out people in them I guess.

The 2 jars of paint are an attempt to replicate mp36's grey without the sparkles.

So my thoughts on slugslinger, he lacks the niftiness of triggerhappy and feels more like a straight retool of misfire, transformation is exactly the same between them and lacks the torso twist, but y'all already knew this.

Joints, nice and tight, tighter than my misfire infact which is the best part about him, and the toy sticker tampos help him stand out because frankly his color palette is shit, I'm considering using some silver gundam marker or even liquid chrome to "fix" that.

There are 2 issues hwoever, first is design, like the g1 coneheads his wings seem a bit intrusive, they can fold back but the arms still clip into them so if you're anal about clearance this counts as a knock, personally I like the generations seeker mold so this is nothing.

Paint work is usual hasbro sloppiness but mine is quite tolerable, pic related is one of the ones I left on the pegs however because of a fucking weird ass qc issue with the face

See that square indentation over his mouth area, that isn't a piece of plastic protecting his head that is just how his paint is done, mine's recess isn't as bad as pic related but he has it, and the area above his actual eyes isn't even painted (as if the painters said "this is too hard" and just left it) making it look lazy as fuck, the saving grace is his titan master's own head is painted (much like misfire's) so overall flawed by paint but does the job otherwise.

I'm also officially done with tr and possibly legends until we see what takara does with the POTP molds, frankly I need a large size rodimus and if its not the leader coming its the tweaked ko of mp09 that doesn't have exploding knees, but those are shipping without a box in a damn bag so no thanks

Which mp10 reissue, I own the takara reissue and he seems fine but the top of the trailer had a scratch, initial reports of the ORIGINAL HASBRO mp10 were that he was floppier than he should have been, and one anon here couldn't get his chest flaps to close properly on the current hasbro reissue, also the packing for that one was clearly space focused being one plastic tray with nothing over the top of him to protect the figure during transport

They have excellent transformations and are plenty hefty, but they have some big flaws that are hard to ignore. Their knee articulation is pretty limited, and the white plastic they use is fucking trash, it just obliterates all the sculpted detail, especially on Topspin's chest. The back kibble isn't the worst, but from many angles, it's pretty apparent how the torso is basically just a flat plate with kibble tucked behind it. Topspin's wings are ugly as shit from underneath, so I tend to pop them off and swap them whenever I transform him.

Topspin's alt. mode is pure sex, though. I basically just leave him as a spaceship 90% of the time.

It's not that much of a markup actually
Stores aside from toysrus never sell at msrp, and msrp is usually no more than 20% markup AFTER shipping costs, which means hasbro makes, on a 16 dollar deluxe, roughly 12 dollars revenue.
In all likelihood, they have at most a 25% markup on that, meaning the at cost price directly from hasbro would be 9 dollars, a 3 dollar profit per figure.
Then calculate in all the profit from a line and subtract all the after production costs, like unexpected error fixes, warehouse backups, etc, and you're losing a few more dimes per figure.
Hasbro also only sells cases of toys, so they're working on the economy of scale.
This is why lighter, cheaper plastic becomes so important. A lighter toy saves money in production and in shipping, allowing their price points to be higher and their costs to be lower, maximizing their profit margins.

They don't. On the deluxes/voyagers they only plug onto the HFG pieces. On the leaders they go in the chest cavity. It's completely separate from the toy unlike HMs where you're missing the head if you choose not to use it.

The bridge on the back of my ROTF Thrust broke because the fuselage assembly had shit clearance and always put it under pressure during that one step of the transformation.

The section with the stressmark is already broken, though.

What happened on mine was that when the two pieces that go on the sides of the chest in robot mode pass by the cockpit they put pressure on the arch and that's what broke it.
They are supposed to go past the cockpit during the transformation, and they do, but they don't without stressing that part because they are too close together to the sides of the cockpit and have to be forced to pass.
I don't know if it's a common issue with the mold, I've never knew of it before this happened which is why I was asking for any step in the transformation I might have done wrongly; actually, I recall transforming it without this issue long ago so I find it really weird.

Eh, it's not THAT bad. It's not GOOD, but it's not completely terrible. He's got ankle tilts, a kinda half-assed waist swivel due to his transformation, and decent range of movement in his arms when the fuckhuge cannon isn't there to get in the way. I'd say he's "adequate". BARELY.

Honestly, I think most of the problems with the mold stem from a similar issue the Deluxe had, in that they both needed to be a size class bigger to do the things the designers were clearly trying to do with them. Had this Galvatron been a Leader class, he could have had the same sort of helmet setup that the other figures at that scale got. I doubt it would have been perfect, even then, but it would still be better than the mask.

While I think a megs-into-galvatron leader would be the shit, I doubt they'll do it given both got voyagers in TR, and there's a pretty high chance we'll be getting beast wars megatron or thunderwing as leaders and there's not much room for more than 1 or 2 more leaders.
the biggest issue they'll have with a megs-to-galvatron is that the vehicle AND robot modes are supposed to combine.
So unless Megatron turns into a pretty small tank that ultimately becomes the grey backend of Galvatron canon mode, I don't see how they'd combine in vehicle mode.

It's very likely he's getting released, the issue is what they'll release him as. Galvatron so far seems like the likely choice, since Megatron doesn't have a weaker form to upgrade from.

So got a couple of questions

1. Anyone know anything about Titans Return Tidal Wave? Is he a good figure/good upgrade from the original Armada Tidal Wave? I never bought Broadside, so going in blind regarding the mold.

2. What's the best version of Powermaster Prime?

Was holding out for the Japanese PMP and Godbomber set simply because it was supposed to contain Hosehead and Minerva's headmaster figures. But I don't know when it's coming out. Should I keep waiting and if it's not coming out anytime soon, what are my other options? Regular PM Prime? Japanese Ginrai? Or the US release of the Ginrai retool Magnus Prime?

Armada Tidal Wave is still the better mold for the character as it was one of the best Armada molds and one of the few that was not a full-on brickformer.

TR Tidal Wave is tolerable enough but suffers from the fact that Broadside himself was a horribly conceived character due to the BS that was Hasbro deciding to make a fucking AIRCRAFT CARRIER turn into a standard size jet.
