aye sonic anon >>6473195
So I cut out a square in the bottom of Repugnus' chest cavity so that the TM could sit the way Fangry's sits, but it turns out Repugnus' is just too much of a fathead to do that. Basically every other TM fits in fine the new way.
>>6473195
>>Japanese:Little robots who built essentially mechs that their tiny bodies transform into heads for
>>American:Bonded to a living being who transforms into their head
>>6473193
>Usually the caveat is the fact that they only ever detach from the body to transform it to vehicle mode, and the process is pretty fast, or in the case of The Last Knight, the head is just as strong as a normal robot. See: Cogman (Smaller than most adult humans) breaking Crosshairs' finger and judo throwing him without even looking at him.
i think this is a stupid gimmick.
that means the character i like not the actual that toy im holding but its head-that tiny robot.
if i was a kid that would bother me a lot.
>>6473196
I want to like this, but alas I have issues with it
>the facial sculpts are strange to look at
>the gun is still meh
>none of the tummy cannons work still
>the white chest panels have less paint than hasbro's meaning iof kept close he's lacking detail
>the helmet, while new, isn't such a big departure from the old one
>the god engine cavity which is hollow on hasbro's for the up coming potp gimmick, has them filled in permanently if pic posted is correct
I still hate the hasbro's stickers and the silly black around the titan master look though, unless there is a sale its takara for me
>>6473196
>it's a takaracuck is deluding himself again episode
ftfy
>>6473199
Its a whole imagination based gimmick, many people are fine with it depending on their head anon.
Admittedly it was cooler with the g1 toys and the tech spec flippers changing on the toys, now we gotta use whatever is left of our creativity.
And good chance as a kid back then anon you would of lost their heads like most people did, we have more choices these days
>>6473199
It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I love shit like microman where vehicles get little pilots or have power armor. I'm too poor to get the new Diaclone stuff, so i'm glad headmasters are back in style.
Aw man, the Hasbro version of Overlord already looked dope and the Takara one is just icing on top of the cake. If something I just wish he had proper-looking hands instead of the regular round-ish ones, but he's still an aesthetically orgasmic figure nonetheless.
>>6473202
>hasbrocuck thinks this looks good
I don't think I'm the one in delusion here, friend.
>>6473204
Anon the new diaclone stuff is overpriced for a figure based on something without any fiction to go with it.
Sure its a nice bit of engineering with amazing paint but who the fuck is appealing too, people who grew up with a failed line, engineering nuts or geewunners who want a history lesson without the lesson?
I own a (damaged) diabattles v2 and while I got it for the price of a regular mp car its also the size of one, I'd had more fun with another mp car for less at full rrp
>>6473207
You're a takaracuck, you're eternally deluded. Not even the blunder that was MP-36 could break that delusion.
>>6473207
The black/blue mismatch aside it does legit look good. Better than Blackshadow at least.
>Face looks more well-defined
>Eyes are steely and focused, clearly ready to ruin someone's day
>If he had pupils and this camera was angled just a bit lower you would have the perfect "Pathetic" screencap.
>>6473212
>hasbro overlord better than skyshadow
You take that back, he may be a pretool buthe's sexy as fuck
>>6473199
I definitely preferred the US way. Bonded lifeforms who now HAVE to try to work together, and both with distinct personalities, VS the fucking yawnfest that is "it's a Gundam but the pilot is a robot this time how innovative right?".
And yet some retards think the Japanese way is better. Way to absolutely kill anything interesting about the idea, Japan.
>>6473210
I love how Hasbrofags just resort to the
>b-but m-muh MP-36!
argument when they have nothing left to say about the actual toy being discussed. It's quite sad.
>>6473212
>it does legit look good
he looks like a fucking child wearing his dad's oversized helmet. And it's funny how Takara got closer to that smug lippy Overlord face than Hasbro did despite Hasbro usually being the one doing IDW designs.
>>6473209
Isn't the diaclone fiction "Earth develops a special system of robots and vehicles to combat aliens known as the Waruders?"
Regardless, it seems like it has the same kind of demographic as indie toys; You buy it because you admire the figure in a vacuum and make your own story around that specific figure. There's all sorts of pegs and ports and sliderails on the toys that interact with eachother to encourage thinking outside the box.
The only flaw I can see to the new Diaclone line is that there is NO fucking antagonist figures yet. Even the original line had the proto-insecticons.
>>6473199
Personally I think the Japanese way is pretty fucking awesome. Little dudes that train themselves to be able to control bigger bodies so they can hold their own against large opponents is pretty cool.
And yes, the character you like is the little dude, but he's also the big dude, too. Stop with the 'tism.
>>6473221
I love how takaracucks will still defend MP-36 even though it turned out to be so shit that chink toys were better than it.
>>6473220
Considering the way they treated arcee in the same series japan was very bland back then.
>lets just make her the secretary and hand out paper work like a good woman
I hate this use of arcee more than idw's take, jesus christ
>>6473225
>The only flaw I can see to the new Diaclone line is that there is NO fucking antagonist figures yet. Even the original line had the proto-insecticons.
The Japanese have this thing about never making villains because they don't sell. Transformer's is one of the rare exceptions to this for some reason. Probably because the molds are already made most of the time. But yeah, asking for villains to get made in 90% of Japanese toylines is basically falling on deaf fucking ears.
>>6473225
Huh, guess I'm devoid of imagination, only pulled it apart and back together then and that was it, if this was marketed towards kids with even a manga it may of worked better, frankly I'm amazed they were able to give people big powered gv despite being FUCK HUGE with DAT PAINT and sheer engineering complexity.
Eh they'll come, the line needs that
>Takara is more toy accurate than Hasbro for once
>>6473231
>He looks like a dude wearing an open-faced helmet.
Except it's not supposed to be a helmet. It's supposed to be a natural part of his head. Hasbro failed at that spectacularly.
>>6473234
The original toys don't look like pink faggots
>>6473191
You know I once bought a figure from brr-icy back in 08.
>>6473227
Flawed, but there are far worse figures in the mp line, I still find mp ironhide worse
>tiny head
>hip kibble
>tabbing requires perfection
mp36's biggest issue boils down to the one sole problem, paint, even the inside of the silencer barrel is painted and even following the instructions to the letter can be detrimental, why paint an area you can't see?
Still, his articulation and expressiveness are his highlights, I pray any redeco's are done in just bare plastic, I transformed mine once, never again
>>6473234
Anon I'm color blind and even I can see where you are wrong
>>6473237
They're headmaster anime accurate at the least
Base mode speculation on PoP leaders, anyone?
>>6473236
In Titans Return, everyone is a tiny robot.
Those tiny robots need protection if they're gonna be waving around as the big robot's head, AKA a helmet.
>>6473249
>Those tiny robots need protection
They have better protection from having a helmet that actually fits properly than a oversized piece of shit. And Overlord isn't supposed to be a headmaster in the first place despite what shitty agenda Warden is trying to force.
>>6473250
>The original toys have a pinker torso and red arms
It's a shade of red, still not pink.
>the original toys don't have white faces
They don't have nigger faces either
>>6473207
>But mah supuriur paint aps.
Best option is to get both.
>>6473234
Yeah, Hasbro gave them their rebirth colors.
Are Mega and Giga recolors of Ominus and Dreadnaught with new faceplates, or new heads?
>>6473226
>Little dudes that train themselves to be able to control bigger bodies so they can hold their own against large opponents is pretty cool.
ugh...
no id rather prefer thinking that the Megatron is megatron.
And Astrotrain is that astrotrain
not some little dudes that train themselves to "ride" bodies...
>>6473261
new faceplates.
>>6473254
Okay you're just fucking stupid, moving on.
The LG Blitzwing looks good for the most part. Tank gets kinda "oh christ what do we do", but otherwise I'll probably get that as the definitive Blitzwing.
>>6473261
>>6473265
Whole new molds.
>>6473259
Holy shit, the Takara sculpt looks so fucking basic and retarded in comparison. Cartoon accuracy fucks everything up.
>>6473269
>Both images from show/boxart show them with eyes
>Takara Legends versions have visors
This flies in the face of everything I've been told
>>6473273
You no like Overlord (Female head)?
>>6473269
>Hasbro goes for toy accuracy for toy boxart they never used
>>6473273
I'm hesitant to believe that's the final product, but if it is then holy shit that's bad.
>>6473256
>It's a shade of red, still not pink.
>it's a shade of red, still not a shade of red
???
>They don't have nigger faces either
Yes they do. It looks slightly lighter in color but it's a fuckton more accurate than white.
>>6473259
I'd be curious to see this in practice.
>>6473234
Hasbro went for accuracy to the show, well, the rebirth episode.
So let me get this shit straight... Takara made Overlord have two dummy godmaster engines in his chest (which don't look removable) and gave it two head masters: one male face and one feminine face. Is this actually what Takara did instead of just making two actual godmasters and giving us a dummy head? That's more stupid than some of the shit Hasbro pulls. It's inexcusable.
>>6473259
Looks like Takara has the superior helmet but the Hasbro version has the better face.
I think we need better pictures to better gauge the new Overlord heads.
>>6473305
Yeah, they didn't fix the molded in torso guns to be deployable either, the only impovments they added are the helmet shape and the deco, and even the deco being better is up to opinions.
>>6473319
They also remolded the chest flaps which look like absolute shit when they're closed.
>>6473319
To think it was so close to perfection with Hasbro Version
Was it so difficult to add functional torso guns?
>>6473162
How do I search for them? I've only found the original PE kits, which I don't want, and loose feet or hands.
>>6473324
Yeah, I much prefer the Hasbro chest flaps.
>>6473334
They do look better
>>6473346
>implying hasbro didn't give us this beauty
>>6473247
There's a crack down the middle right below "what"
Those are hinges for the back parts
>>6473356
I haven't even bought the hasbro Overlord or twins yet but I will admit both companies are fucking stupid. I shouldn't have to strategize what I should and shouldn't buy. Just give me the product as it should be. Right now I'm internally debating if I should get LG Overlord but I really fucking hate the face sculpts and the fake godmasters. I could just go the hasbro route and get an upgrade kit later down the road but either way it's a shitty option.
>>6473368
Get both, piece together what you want, and return the rest as the hasbro figure to a brick and mortar store.
This showed up in my store today. The UPC wasn't on file in our system and my manager let me buy it for five bucks.
>>6473368
>Just give me the product as it should be
That unfortunately, will not happen. The Gen line is made to fit Walmart, and Walmart is not gonna let toys get beyond whatever it dictates in terms of size and price. That will harshly limit what Hasbro can make.
Because Takara just reuses Hasbro molds and slaps a new coat of paint on it (or doesn't even do that, in the case of some figures, it just recolors the plastic and thats it), this limits what Takara can do, because the molds they have available are made to fit a US retail chain that caters to poor people. The only thing Takara really makes are MP's, which currently are being limited to strict cartoon only designs and paint jobs.
tl;dr You're fucked, I'm fucked, we're all fucked by the very nature of the beast that is at work here.
>>6473368
I'm on the same boat, leaning towards the hasbro ver, the deco doesn't bother me but he needs a new helmet, iill try to adapt the Carnifex add on to it.
>>6473371
Some of us aren't assholes, and even then, getting both I'm not sure about keeping the takara torso, it depends on the godmaster slabs being removable.
>>6473389
>it depends on the godmaster slabs being removable.
$5 says they're glued in.
>>6473389
Wrong pic, I meant to post the carnifex add on.
>>6473376
That's an amazing score you made, then.
>>6473389
Takara looks more G1 toy/Anime colors.
Hasbro is definitely IDW colors.
I'm not a fan of the Hasbro helmet though.
Any pics of the Takara faces?
I thought the mini figures turned into the powermaster engines in the chest just like the POTP masters. Also thought the Takara is not a headmaster.
I like the darker Takara colors, but I'm good with the Hasbro I have.
>left
>stickers everywhere and a bunch of random colors to attract ADHD children
>right
>looks like a high quality collector's item with clean and coherent colors and with proper decals rather than stickers
Defend this.
>>6473438
Wait, is his face not even silver on the Takara version? Jesus fucking Christ, how did both sides of the ocean fuck it up?
>>6473438
>pretending that any retail transformer looks like a "high quality collector's item"
Ok buddy. The Takara is definitely better, but that's just hyperbole.
>>6473438
How hard is it gonna be to get the Shuffler repaint? I really like the edgelord colors
>>6473443
Blitzwing's face was never silver. It's either purple or white.
>>6473438
>Left jas a dull beige.
>Right has dull purple.
>none has silver face.
I'd go for the deep purple with the whiteface.
>>6473442
Wait, one painted and one unpainted face?
>>6473456
See I would prefer the beige from the Hasbro one and purple from the Takara one. Wanna get both together and swap parts?
>>6473438
>>6473351
>>6473458
The painted face is the Hasbro version, Takara seems to be using white on the faces instead of silver, anime accuracy I guess, look at Blitzwing, same white face.
>>6473463
This gimmick was a fucking mistake. Holy shit.
What's even the point of the leaders being headmasters if other figures look terrible in them?
>>6473473
It's a fun gimmick.
If it let you avatarfag like a complete douche I'd be against it, though.
>>6473442
You are correct.
>>6473473
Try putting a leader head on a deluxe for mentally-handicapped bots.
>>6473473
>>6473479
Swap only between leaders then, but that size clas can ignore the gimmick anyway.
>>6473480
Shuffler looks nice on pretty much everything, heres Shuffler zeus.
>>6473438
I think it looks good, but not 55 burgers good. Will probably buy it secondhand or on discount.
>>6473438
Takara's beige is ALL paint. Not the good kind, but the one that bleeds through and might scratch.
>>6473480
>Shuffler
I swear that little fella goes well with anything
I'd Get Ramhorn too but I'm not much keen on the TM colors. Is there a variant of that face mold?
You know what solves the Takara vs Hasbro debate?
Not buying mainline figures and just getting MP figures.
>>6473512
For Ramhorn? Well, LG Kickback has Clouder and he uses the Ramhorn TM in different colors.
>>6473512
>Is there a variant of that face mold?
Why do you people worry about the colors so much? The heads are just pilots.
>>6473513
support takasa tony
>>6473513
But then you just have an aesthetic debate about whether or not ultra cartoon accuracy with the more recent MPs is better or not.
>>6473533
He's a disaster, apparently most of his black bits are actuall clear plastic painted over, and his head (both of them) are rubber.
>>6473324
The chest flaps aren't supposed to be closed for robot mode anyway.
>>6473538
>>6473539
Dangit
I guess I'll get a normal Ramhorn and paint it myself
6472982
Yes, because fun things are fun. If you don't ike it, tough. Give us one good reason(what we care about) as to why we should obey your opinion, rather than our own when buying shit for ourselves.
Go on. I have all day.
Something weird I just noticed about these two guys, no idea if anyone pointed this out before, they are the same figure but with different paint apps.
>>6473196
>>6473438
>tfw you didn't fall for the Hasbromeme version and decided to have patience and wait it out till the Takara version came out
>>6473555
For what's it's worth I've had exactly zero issues with Kickback and I mess with him fairly regularly. He does have rubber and painted transparent plastic, though, but nothing has broken or chipped on mine at all.
>>6473557
>Why would they paint something they could just cast in plastic?
Lots of companies do this crap, collectors defend it with "it makes it look less like a toy" or some other nonsense, but it just leads to extra paint chipping.
see Neca and Mattel casting figures in black and painting every bit of them.
i want my dinobots...
when that new line with dinobots come out?
during Winter?
This guy just arrived in the mail today.
>>6473191
US Military Brat growing up in Germany these were are to find and when you did they cost a shit ton of money.
>>6473473
Putting TR Quickswitchs head on LG Blaster looks fantastic. Swapping amongst other leader class figures works great.
>>6473620
I have both Blasters, and Quickswitch, can confirm.
>>6473614
My guess: november-december for stolen overpriced listings on ebay, january-february for online stores, march for retail.
>>6473376
$5 my ass
>>6473615
What a shame.
>>6473622
HOLY FUCK
MARCH OF 2018
i will suicide the shit of myself till march. people dont live that long
>>6473259
I do agree with you about buying the shit out of both. But I do bet they're worth 1 week of starvation
>>6473355
>who buys whatever they enjoy
When can I be in that side now?
I got MP-Ironhide and Hasbro's MP-Bumblebee just because
How is Generations Sky Lynx? I immediately fell in love with the design, before I even started collecting Transformers
>>6473625
*that is bad comedy
>>6473650
He's pretty cool. the fact he has a decent lynx fanmode makes him well worth it to me. Combiner mode suffers from loose hips sometimes, but it has a nice design and shouldn't be a problem once you have it set up. I paid $40 for him and have yet to regret the cost.
>>6473652
I suppose it's all down to preferences, same reason some people here buy those rescue bots figures, atleast those are cheap though.
>>6473557
>Why would they paint something they could just cast in plastic?
Easy, cost.
>>6473650
Good figure but the downside is his hip ratchets suck balls for combined mode because they didn't do...Something with them. Didn't make them stick out enough on the inside? All I know is you can fix the ratchets, but you need to take him apart to do it. However, if you don't care about combined mode, you don't have to do anything.
Was waiting to see what takara was gonna do with Overlord but now that I've seen it I think I'm safe to pick up the hasbro version. I prefer the lighter blue as it pops more and shows off the sculpted details better, the grey/black elbows and crotch also add much needed color separation. The dummy powermasters don't look great and the remolded chest flaps to hide it also look worse. All three heads are shit though.
>>6473650
Great if you ignore the combined mode which you should be doing anyway
>>6473654
awfully cheap but hey, you can buy what you like. probably simple as that
>>6473662
Yeah, nowadays I just selectively buy the mps and some of the legends/generations. I used to collect the movie stuff until I decided to focus more on the classic versions.
>>6473650
I recommend getting the Takara Lynx Master set with him. His colors look nice and crisp and his mouth detailing looks neat. Plus the set comes with Combiner Wars Ratchet which is unique to that release with no US equivalent. It's pricier and 5 figures instead of just 1, but they're all pretty solid figures with nice paintjobs at least. The Hasbro Sky Lynx is fine, but his plastic color looks like it's from the home of a smoker in hand - Takaras doesn't.
>>6473668
Don't forget that Lynx Master's torso mode has way tighter joints all around. The shoulders don't lock in anywhere but they hold on noticeably tighter and the thigh ratchets are the best of all torsos since he doesn't have any wonble and has way more outward clicks.
>>6473620
>TR Quickswitchs head on LG Blaster
Pics please, my Marvel nigga.
>>6473674
Not the best picture. But you get the idea.
>>6473679
How does Sawback look in there?
>>6473682
Terrible.
>>6473642
Yeah, I made up my mind and am going for the hasbro, I like the headmaster gimmick and preffer the hasbro face and chest molds, hopefuly there will be a 3p helmet like they did for Sixshot.
heh, I had to do this chart to decide, but I am pretty sure it won't apply to everyone.
>>6473618
We did get a lot of the Mexican G1 TFs in Germany though. There were all over the discount shops and some of them showed up in major chains like Karstadt. Most of the Primes i have seen on fleamarkets and such were in fact mexican imports.
>>6473679
That's pretty good, thanks anon. Unfortunately I don't like Quickswitch or anything else in the set.
I'm just gonna hope for a Twincast repaint so I can swap the faces.
>>6473689
>pros
>facesculpt
>>6473698
I'm getting the legends, but the tr one does appear to have a better face than the legends one in that picture, I think the ultrasmug one we don't have a close-up of will look better though.
>>6473689
>Pro
>Deco
Eeeehhh, I don't know about all that.
>>6473698
Hasbro's face is ok so far I mean why would you compete with pic related...?
>>6473198
See I like the normal way because it makes it feel more like he is in a suit controlling it.
>>6473689
>better looking chest doors
You got that right. What the fuck happened with the Takara version? They look like the pieces were put on backwards or something.
Not really a TF fan but I always found the designs neat. Every store I go to though has such a tiny selection of toys that have been there for nearly a year. I heard a rumor that Hasbro's distribution in north america is garbage and China is getting all the toys. Is this true?
>>6473709
I think it's so that when they're open, that's the filled in side of the piece, if you look at the inside of the tr version, it's hollow. They intend for you to have the doors open rather than shut.
>>6473712
Walmart typically orders a years worth of wave one toys, so later waves trickle in slowly if at all.
Like, holy shit, if you ever told me ten years ago stored would be flooded with fucking Galvatron and Sentinel Prime toys, I would have fucking called you a liar for even insinuating Hasbro would make those!
>>6473712
Pretty much true due to how shitty US stores are. Your only hope is to order online from specialty shops. BBTS, TFS, toydojo, TCP, whatever.
>>6473712
All of Asia get more toys.
>>6473712
>I heard a rumor that Hasbro's distribution in north america is garbage and China is getting all the toys. Is this true?
The distribution depends on each store chain, but usually its shity everywere but some asian/australian countries.
>>6473712
distribution has always been the natural enemy of Transformers fans. Especially end of the line figures. Hasbro has done their best to improve things, but they still have work cut out for them. It's mostly with the way retailers handle the product rather than just Hasbro to blame.
>>6473650
One of the most posable transformer dragons out there. Of course the dragon mode is technically his robot mode so this makes sense. His torso mode is the best one out there in terms of proportions, but it's also the most loose.
>>6473723
>It's mostly with the way retailers handle the product rather than just Hasbro to blame.
Hasbro has it's own fucking online shop for gods sake. Why doesn't it just sell through there? Ship the shit directly from the fucking factory or whatever the hell. Why bother with all of these middlemen that do nothing but make the product HARD AS FUCK TO ACTUALLY ACQUIRE?
>>6473725
Hasbro Toy Shop is technically a third party retailer, not literally an arm of Hasbro. They have to order product just like Target or Walmart.
>>6473725
>Hasbro Store still has to work like a store, complete with revenue, profits, and stocking
>only way to fix issue of distribution according to little kids on /toy/ is for Hasbro to order 40000 cases of specific waves so that they can always keep stock of a specific toy specific kids on /toy/ wants, so Hasbro Toy Shop is left holding 200,000 shelfwarmers.
sup kid?
Or is your solution for them to be psychic and predict the most wanted figures, because it takes about 4 months for China to produce and ship any amount of specific orders, thus only able to create a specific hot figure only cases after one and a half waves after initial wave with hot character was released?
Mayhaps Hasbro needs to create a teleporter so that China can make anything on instant demand?
ib4
>Hasbro has to cater to niche figures only collectors care about and that collectors don't make up 5% of toy sales, but 90% of them
>>6473707
Unstandable. Honestly it was just about how the bottom of his feet met the bottom of his beast head, it just made him look pudgy and it bothered me. I don't know. I ended up cutting a t shape out of his back to make space for his nose and crest so even Repugnus' giant face can fit now. Looks about the same and bothers me less.
>>6473196
I'm heavily debating between hasbro or takara's. If I grabbed Hasbro, who would be a decent stand-in for Mega and a good alt face for Overlord that's easy to get? The stand alone titan masters/deluxe heads end up really tiny too.
>>6473723
>distribution has always been the natural enemy of Transformers fans
Iktf. Major retailers here decided to skip TR entirely and the rest barely got any.
>>6473753
Didn't Hasbro admit at a Botcon a couple years back that Transformers is not the norm and collectors make up closer to twenty percent compared to the five percent they did back in the Armada days?
The percentage will just keep going up as kids get out of toys younger and younger while older collectors stick around.

On the Hasbro version, someone might release Godmasters bits that can be used with TM. I managed to get 2 Sky Shadow heads, one for permanent fixture on Overlord, and the other two for piloting and Godmaster positions.
Someone might also release TM with more articulation and the Godmaster emblems but I cwouldnt' count on it since no one's release articulated TM bodies.
>>6473753
How 'bout they follow the distribution method of damn near any other company out there, and take fucking preorders for their shit months ahead of time, so they know to make enough to cover preorders and then a reasonable amount to head to stores?
We are living in an instant gratification world now. Companies take preorders for every little thing. Television has been obsolete for years, replaced by all in one streaming. Yet these assholes are relying on ancient distribution models at the whim of fucking Walmart of all places, and still can't even put out a series as good as most of Netflix's and lets Cartoon Network shelve their shit in favor for 24 hour, 7 day a week, marathons of Teen fucking Titans Go. How fucking hard is it to get with the times?
>>6473789
>someone might release Godmasters bits that can be used with TM
Already 2 or 3 options on shapeways, also the kit on the photo, but what Hasbro's Overlord really needs is a better helmet, hopefuly Dr.Wu will release a kit like he did for Sixshot.
So at this point, it's pretty obvious the last two headmasters, refractor and scorponok, will go into a gift set, presumably with a perceptor retool as reflector or magnificus, and scorp as a stand alone head (how strange)
I am secretly hoping its a blaster retool as reflector, and an apeface titan master vehicle retool into a scorpion
>>6473800
Hopefully, I just hope it's not like Takara's attempt at Godmaster emblems.
>Better helmet
I get the feeling they'd just add a new head all together, which I'd be fine with for Overlord.
>>6473799
>How 'bout they follow the distribution method of damn near any other company out there, and take fucking preorders for their shit months ahead of time, so they know to make enough to cover preorders and then a reasonable amount to head to stores?
This does not happen with retail toys. Maybe if they did it with MPs and collectables, but Hasbro is not in that business.
>Yet these assholes are relying on ancient distribution models at the whim of fucking Walmart of all places
Walmart is one of the most powerful companies in the world dude. If you're not in Walmart because you crossed them, you're fucked.
>lets Cartoon Network shelve their shit in favor for 24 hour, 7 day a week, marathons of Teen fucking Titans Go.
They literally have no choice. Their own channel is dead, and Transformers Prime was so expensive it killed the animation studio and made Hasbro reluctant to spend a decent amount of money on any future series.
In the final case I do partially agree with you though. Hasbro does not care because to care would cost money, and with the latest movie bombing and future prospects for the brand looking grim, we are about to enter another dark ages like Beast Wars.
Only, without an awesome show to keep us afloat.
To anyone who has Trypticon; does Kup fit inside his tail? He's a bit chunky for a deluxe so I'd like to know if he works well.
>>6473786
I think I'll just get the Takara version then.
>>6473811
That doesn't answer my question.
I just know to associate frog posters with underage users and idiots.
>>6473808
>Transformers Prime was so expensive it killed the animation studio and made Hasbro reluctant to spend a decent amount of money on any future series.
We talkin' about Hasbro Studios here? Because Polygon Pictures is still active.
I think I'm at the acceptance stage of owning MPM4. I'm kind of used to the misaligned everything.
Also, does anyone else have trouble getting all 6 wheels to touch the ground in vehicle mode? Those blue panels that make up the back of his shins almost always drag on the ground in vehicle mode. Like we're talking sub 1mm clearance off the ground
My TRU just got MP 10, not sure if I should get it. I've never owned the mold before.
>>6473859
It's a good mold. Literally the golden child of the entire MP line. Simple to transform, decent articulation. Only thing he's really missing are hip skirt flaps to get his legs fully out.
>>6473799
>kid on /toy/ thinks he knows better than major toy companies who have to deal with actual distribution companies and retailers like WalMart
Hasbro isn't making these toy lines for collectors. They make childrens toys, sold in huge numbers, in the hundreds of thousands to millions.
Bandai, NECA, Mezco and Diamond may be able to take preorders because they're selling only thousands to tens of thousands of single figures.
>We are living in an instant gratification world now.
lol, teleporters don't exist. Physical products still need to be produced and shipped. Chinese factories are half a world away and that takes a shit load of time to be shipped, nevermind the manufacturing process. Again, by the time Hasbro actually gets feed back on the current waves, China has already started shipping the next one and started production on the subsequent one.
So what is Hasbro to do? Go waaay out of their way just to please 20,000 collectors, which would increase the cost of their toys by at least 2x and their factories not being able to actually produce better looking toys despite the cost, because that would involve revamping the factories, which would cost even more money.
Or just continue making large amount of cases, containing toys collectors like, and hope everything works out? It's not like the majority of /toy/ even misses out on toys they actually like, aside from a very tiny vocal minority.
>>6473885
>cont
BTW, most any retailer can take preorders, but the logistics for that is a pretty headache for any major retailer and involves ordering stock that can be returned or cancelled.
So no way would WalMart or Target want to deal with that shit, especially when they're only going to sell to maybe a dozen individuals.
Only small collector stores are willing to do that, because customer service is the only thing they can offer and they sure as fuck aren't ordering enough for Hasbro to consider changing their case ratios (as proven with their experience with Diamond).
I'll never understand how Hasbrotoyshop works. They somehow got Blitzwing, but no Octane.
>>6473885
Could Hasbro try to force Walmart to order limited amounts of each wave or does Walmart has the upper-hand and will abuse that for all of eternity?
Making new molds costs a shitload of money and they are hemorrhaging money whenever retailers order billions of wave one cases, forcing them to cancel later waves of new figures that are one plastic injection away from being produced or chuck them into discount chains at a loss. I still remember that they lost like four waves to Ross during DOTM.
I feel like they are starting to abuse repacks and repaints/retools because making new toys for later waves is always punished by dumb retailers with no foresight.
>>6473623
>$5 my ass
Had to ring it up under a junk SKU because it wasn't in the system.
>>6473799
You could always buy the Takara versions on Pre-order.
>>6473884
I don't get why people want figures with legs that can do full splits, I mean does anyone ever pose them with their legs fully out?
>>6473929
it's one of those things that you don't notice maybe 99% of the time, but when you do hit the articulation limit it's kind of depressing.
>take like a billion pictures of this kit
>all of them ended up blurry as fuck
eh whatever I'm not retaking them. The upgrade kit for CW/LG Ultra Magnus is great
>>6473929

>>6473438

>>6473951

Has Ramhorn started showing up in stores, yet? I've barely seen any listings on Ebay.
>>6473438

>>6473247
I wonder if PoTP leaders will allow interchangeability for the super mode armors (e.g. being able to stick the small Primal in Rodimus Prime's armor and vice versa).
>>6473438
AM I really the only one that noticed that Takara Blitz has an upside-down tank barrel?
What did Takara mean by this?
>>6473911
>Could Hasbro try to force Walmart to order limited amounts of each wave or does Walmart has the upper-hand and will abuse that for all of eternity?
Mwahah! Foolish dreams!
WalMart orders so much product that they already change the case ratios full of figures you don't even like, all because a figure is a favorite according to whatever marketting WalMart believes, despite kids already owning the figure 3x over. They don't even care if said figure is shelfwarming in all their stores, because they can't or don't want to track each figure separately.
Change is really really slow because of WalMart, who in itself is slow.
Everyone is willing to bend over backwards for WalMart.
And Hasbro will use every single sculpt and mold as much as possible. We already see them releasing long ago planned toys for other lines, like Renegades Roadblock in their SDCC exclusive pack.
>>6473650
Get this OP, with the sword if you can, and have him ride on Sky Lynx's back
>>6473951

only drawback is the new feet don't integrate into the alt mode all that well.
>>6473247
This figure looks so fucking bad.
>>6473996

Compared to the monkey armed block headed TR toy and every other non MP Hot Rod released in the past 10 years it does look good.
>>6473703
God that thing is laughably fucking stupid looking. I really want to see some better pictures of the alt face. I don't want to get an overlord with a stupid smug face. I don't give a shit about the IDW sculpts, just give me a face to match the japanese animu.

>>6474031
None, you might need to sand it a bit, mine stays fine and only untabs by twisting it off of the hand.
>>6473539
>The only improvement has been the faceplates.
Disagree strongly, unless you just mean the fact that we now get optional faceplates. The sculpts on the older MPs were always more clean-cut and they had more detail because they were working in a gray area. Now they're strictly accurate to the cartoon and they're painted flat gray/blue colors which honestly looks like shit to me. Especially in Sunstreaker's case. He looks like a dumb, grinning, toothless grandpa wearing a bathing cap.
>>6474058
>Disagree strongly, unless you just mean the fact that we now get optional faceplates.
Yeah, that.

I don't know but, am I the only one who prefers Energon Shockblast mold over the more recent shockwave toys?
Surely the Beast Hunters one has a better personality and head sculpt, but Shockblast definitely was more closer to the G1 character design.
Maybe my nostalgia has blinded me, but...
>>6474149
I mean, I guess reviewing toys CAN work...but you make barely anything. I mean doing it as a hobby works too, but as a full time job...not the best.
Anyone have TR Blitzwing? Mind telling me the parts that are painted? I know most of Megatron is paint scrape free (the gun's the only part that chips, and it's only below it so no one will notice).

The Prime Beast Hunters Shockwave is my favorite design-wise but for fun and playability the new Legends one is amazing. Nothing wrong with the Energon one though, just not my personal preference.

>tiny head
I find the only people who complain about tiny heads are people who grew up watching the cartoon. The bots in the cartoons had heads that were WAY too huge for their bodies. I think the MP figures started out with a much better head size standard. MP Megatron, for example, has an almost comically huge dome, to me. Smaller heads on giant robots make them look bulky and tough, which is why I like the MP-10 design so much. His head is nowhere near as tiny as people complain it is, but it's small enough to make him look buff as fuck.
Why are the Legends figures all so scalped on Amazon? I just want some compact transforming mecha goodness
>>6474259

Headmasters in comics freaked me out as a kid for several reasons:
>organic beings coat themselves in metal, becoming cyborgs
>their limbs bend all the wrong ways while transforming into heads making me imagine it as a painful process
>the sentient robot rips off his own head, leaves it somewhere, while his body is out having adventures with some organic bonded little buddy
I was really happy to finally have little guys who could sit in the alt modes, but even back then I imagined them being just little robots with mechsuits, instead of the mess the Headmasters story was in the comic. And that was even way before I saw the Japanese cartoon or known that it existed.
Since Hasbro remembered recently that Octopunch exists, Voyager Octopunch when?

I decided to go mano-a-mano with MP arthritis over here and loosen every stiff joint I can. I found out that those gold plates on his thighs that obviously hide some screws and keep you from disassembling his less are literally just frictioned into place. Not glued, not tabbed, not even tight, just dig your finger nail into the edges a little bit and they'll practically fall off and let you get him apart no problem.
So yeah if you ever wanted to loosen your MP Cheetor's leg joints just poke them a little bit and it'll come apart
