It seems the Topspin thing might be overblown, I haven't heard of any of my friends having one with that issue, or seen it much online.

I'm more worried about Trypticon since it seems the chest connection doesn't work well, the hips could be widespread but most people are too scared to move theirs.
>>
>>6466730
Here in Manila, all Topspins are like that.

Will we ever have a Blast Off figure in POTP? I mean we have a CW Groove from UW, and Jazz and the other cons functions as a combiner, so why don't we just have that?
>>
>>6466744
Pretty much yeah. All the topspins in the pegs in all the malls I visited (and we have lots of malls here) have the bad knees.
>>
>>6466773
I fucking hope so, he's the only UW mold I'm missing, I didn't want to buy weird colors Bruticus just for him.
>>
>>6466773
They might throw him as a special since we're going back to combiners, probably with his original combiner limb since people will want him to fit with Bruticus.

Anyway, after reading some sites I discovered some stuff on certain figures:

-TR voyager Optimus abdomen needs to be locked (push down the middle near the pelvis) this makes sure the antlers don't pop up easily. Not recommended with Laser Rod Prime since his abdomen is painted.
-Broadsides command tower isn't meant for seating figures, it's actually meant for TM in head mode to dock with the ship. I'm assuming this is the intended cockpit for ship mode.
-Seaspray's rotor section can be detached and held on his arm (can't do it myself since I don't have it, but I've seen the pics).
>>
>>6466778

Picked up my first Masterpiece figure from a comic shop the orher day for $40. He's a bit fiddly and a pain in the ass to transform him, so I just leave him in robot mode. I really like his paint deco, the camo reminds me of something from Generation 2.

I ended up deciding to pick up an MP-07 Starscream because I liked Acid Storm. I'm trying to decide which Megatron to get. Masterpiece? 3rd party? Or Combiner Wars with an upgrade kit?
>>
>>6466856
It might be fixable the same way as the tail, but yeah, kind of annoying. I don't mind fixing this, but no kid would know about this and will definitely break it.
>>
>>6466857
>I'm trying to decide which Megatron to get. Masterpiece? 3rd party?

If you want a Megatron you will never transform and will ruin it's paint job if you do, but REALLY need what is essentially a G1 accurate action figure, go for the MP.

If you want a figure you can mess around with a bit, but is more accurate to comic depictions, go with Maketoys Despotron.
>>
>>6466860
>>6466856
Apparently requires gluing a piece in place (for now). I still don't have mine, but I'll be applying the fixes after it arrives.

Since I haven't seen pics for the tail alteration, I'll post it myself if nothing better comes along.
>>
Eh, since when did Exhaust got a Takasa Tony release? I just found one on Evilbay; the seller doesn't ship to my country, tho.

>>6466864
If it was true it'd be hilarious. All those experts and they are still throwing money into funding the F-35 Turkey.
>>
>>6466862
I'm kinda leary on the MP Megs, because of the paint issuies and the pricepoint. I've seen some youtube vids with him where he has scuffs and paint chips. I'm worried about that paint being chipped very easily, though I don't plan to transform him into his gun. I'm not exactly concerned about the gun mode, because who cares when you already have a tiny version of his gun mode that seekers can hold.

I was leaning either toward Mightron or Despotron. There's a Mightron at the same comic shop I bought Acid Storm at, and they're asking $89 on him. I considered buying him but opted for ordering Starscream the other day instead. I'm not sure if I like how skinny Mightron's hands look.

And the jet mode. The paint is done on the wings.
I still got tr V class prime and broadside to do. But both figures got like partial paint alrwady at the place that new paint. I am not sure one ia supposed to just paint it over or one have to stripe the paint first.
>>
>>6466951
Yes but you can ignore the combined mode. Unlike TR where you have to remove the head on nearly all of them just to transform them.

Leader class you can just forget the armor entirely and you still get a decent deluxe toy. That deluxe Hot Rod that comes with Rodimus looks way fucking better than the shitty blockhead TR version.

MP-36 Megatron is fine. The paint chipping isn't that big of a deal. Just be careful with the silencer - you might want to sand down the inside of it where the barrel goes in before using it. Other than that, if you're careful, the paint shouldn't chip too badly. It's a great figure though.
>>
>>6467059
It's using the DNA kit and Toyhax labels.

I'm not sure what its using for Scavenger's bucket though.
>>
>>6467068
And while I'm at it, are there any MP-10 KOs that look like that (i.e. with the TakaraTomy box and everything, trying to pass as the original)?
>>
>>6466853
Here's a good post from Metroplex[IH] on TFW which sums up the problem with the tail:

>Here's the deal with the tail - It's supposed to lock into the two positions (up and down), but (at least in my case), the tail would loudly lock into the up position, but then would be hard to move back into the down position without a loud scary pop, but not so in the opposite direction.

>People have said that the joint has broken to the point where it no longer locks into either position and, while I'm not positive that's the case in the same way I was with the hip joints, I do think that it's possible. When I took my tail apart, I could already see some stress marks on the cross section of the part that connects to the "washer" that connects to the gear (It's not actually a washer, but it's kind of a washer with gear teeth on it so that's the name I'm going with).

>I performed the fix, which requires gluing the "washer" to the post so that it no longer has freedom to move, become disconnected, or strip the cross post it fits on. I'm genuinely not sure what engineering advantage having the parts separate might serve. It seems pointless. I'm not an engineer, though. What I will say is that once I glued the "washer" to the post, the tail seems to softly lock into each position and moves between them smoothly. But I don't know why the parts were separate to begin with, so I'm not convinced it's the right move. I'm happy with how my figure works now, though.

>Aside from that chest door.

That's why I always did my toy shopping with my grandparents, they were incapable of saying no to new toys. Might explain my TF collection reaching into the 500s by the time I turned 18.

Lucky. Never seen those around here.
>>
>>6467165
My dad has typically been more generous than my mum but my grandparents wouldn't buy me toys if we went shopping.

I achieved about the same number when I was around that age but I've been selling a lot off because I just don't have the room and I don't get much money from work so I've mainly been downsizing and just trying to get rare figures (Kiss Players, fuck yeah) or Masterpiece stuff or just things that I really like which are unique/fun.
>>
>>6467168
At least you HAVE Transformers. They're removing them from most of the stores here in New Zealand, it seems, or at the very least, selling very few (and for far too much).
>>
>>6467173
I sold a few redundant figures some years back, shit like First Strike movie Prime and the first movie Starscream, Universe Blaster and that garbage DotM Dread guy. I find it a hassle to go through though, just for a couple bucks, so my lazy ass now sits on dozens of TFs I don't really even want but can't get the gumption up to sell. I really should just sell 90% of my bayformers, I have so much extra junk that I have no room or use for anymore.
>>
>>6467179
Yeah, understandable and I agree. I got rid of most of my movie stuff but it's a real pain. I'm still trying to get rid of bits and bobs, and I'm starting to wonder if there are other things I should get rid of.

I love my original RID toys but I'm starting to wonder if they're just eating up shelf space now, even though they're my childhood (only two are actually FROM my childhood, though).

I'd say keep them but them I'm a hoarder. I still have most of mine, but I lost a couple bits of Omega Prime over the years and kick myself for it.
i did manage to hold onto 99% of Landfill though, what a weird series of combiners that series had, none of them followed any scheme and just did what they wanted, apart from Ruination.
I wouldn't get rid of my RiD stuff, but I have little to no love for my Armada stuff, apart from the minicon army. I'd probably keep Blackout and Demolisher only, and Sideways I guess because of his headswap gimmick.
>>
>>6467195
I still haven't got Ultra Magnus, and my Rail Racer has yellowed to hell which is legitimately sad.

I got rid of my Unicron Trilogy stuff a long time ago (except Armada Jetfire and then I eventually got an Overload) but I recently got Micron Legend Super Convoy, and Micron Legend Rumble (Perceptor). They make nice display pieces, I guess, plus the Takara Prime is pretty.

They'll probably do him/Hound/Star/Saber/Thunderwing if they get more slots for original leader class molds. The latter two can be remolds of each other. If not POTP probably in the next two toylines given that Warden is giving everyone the Predaking, Dinobots and Abominus people were asking in POTP. So he is listening to what fans are asking.

Definitely. The Korean version (Soon Kong, usually identical to the Japanese releases) used to be quite cheap and that's the one I got (but I fucked up Rapid Run's shield - maybe I'll showcase it sometime). Nowadays... not so much.

The Hasbro one doesn't have the nice translucent windows all through the trains but it's still a fun set of toys. They're all quite flawed but they're fun nonetheless.

Ruination is a great way to get a nice Bruticus (I don't think the Korean Baldigus is too hard to get, actually), and Scourge/Black Convoy is getting harder to get (don't bother with the Hasbro one - it was a TRU exclusive so it's the most expensive) but you can still get the Koran and Japanese ones okay.

Landfill should be cheap to get and I just adore that set so much. So a fun combiner. Not perfect but fun.

Megatron/Galvatron are usually pretty cheap and I got Galvatron for my eighth birthday, I think it was. Shit was awesome and still is.

Mandarake is a good starting place for the Japanese Car Robots stuff.

So I wanted to make a voyager or leader class scorponok for TR, but i currently only own a couple, pmop and galvatron. I've got a budget for 3d printed hands, but mostly I don't know if there's a good base or two for him.

Get either MP-11 or MP-07 if you want G1 cartoon accuracy. The only major difference between the two is that the MP-11 comes with his coronation cape and crown. MP-07 came with a display stand and was cheaper.

Both figures though will cost you over $100 though. I bought an MP-07 the other day for $130 shipped. He's got a complicated transformation, and I never Transform my Acid Storm because of it.

>>
>>6467463
This figure is shit it's the least fun
>>
>>6467460
What was my question?
>>
>>6467467
I really like my Acid Storm. He poses nicely and looks like he stepped out of the cartoon. Transforming him is the only thing I don't like. The only other decent option is the classics mold and that one's a manlet who can't lift his arms all the way without lowering his wing.
>>
>>6467474
>He poses nicely
If you're talking about the the arms, then yeah, but everything below the chest is terrible.

>looks like he stepped out of the cartoon
Acid Storm was just neon green in the cartoon, so not really.
>>
>>6467415
MP-11 is fine and looks good. Don't listen to the haters.
If you like 3rd party stuff, there's another option releasing soon, MT Howling Meteor.
>>
>>6467481
I'm talking about Starscream mate. My MP-07 hasn't arrived in the mail yet. Acid Storm's just my other seeker. His legs pose pretty good. I make him get in a number of positions and he stands up. I don't see anything wrong with it. His fins sometimes pop off if you really ham hands him. That's about it on him.

I don't like the CW Leader either, but the Classics/Henkai mold is probably worse. He's only good if you want him standing stock straight like in your picture since has such terrible articulation and stumpy proportions.

Honestly Starscream hasn't gotten a truly great and mostly G1 toy. His masterpiece toy came out at an awkward time so it was a more toon accurate retool rather than the new mold it should have been.

Unless yo don't mind the IDW style, I'd say the best G1 starscream is Maketoys Howling Meteor, which is styled after the current toon accurate masterpiece figures. just know he's a 3p figure, these pics aren't final colors, and he's not compatible with other masterpieces.
>>
Were any of the Armada toys any good? Like I can't remember anything from that era not being shit.
>>
>>6466884
The paint won't chip that easily. There's actually nothing wrong with its paint, it won't chip off magically. The issue is that the engineer didn't include enough clearance on SOME parts of the transformation so SOME parts may rub on others a little too hard and scrap the paint off. It's definitely an issue that shouldn't exist but in all honesty, 3rd party loyalists blown this out of proportions, it really isn't anywhere as bad as what you can hear or read for them. I don't even have a visible chip on mine and I transformed it 3 times.

Tl;dr: you won't scratch shit if you don't transform it and even if you do, you may not scratch it either.
>>
What are good stands for deluxe sized figures? Stage act 5?

>>6467494
>I really like my Acid Storm.
>>
>>6467518
(you)
>>
>>6467495
>but the Classics/Henkai mold is probably worse.

No, because it doesn't have a fake cockpit and a bunch of hollow shit visible on its wings. It doesn't matter if the toy can pose better if it looks shittier regardless.
>>
>>6467528
Also, his forward leg articulation is pitiful, pretty good? maybe for a old legends class, not a 40$+ "masterpiece". Fools are easily pleased I suppose.
>>
So why don't they use glossy ABS on Transformers like they use to? Is thicker and shinier ABS too expensive now?
>>
>>6467550
You sound like you're on your period and looking for things to nit pick and complain about.

>>
>>6467564

>>
>>6467566
As a follow up, i did some research
Back in 99 ish, abs dropped down by 25% and more or less stayed there for 8 or 9 years, when it then went up 75% from there.
So if there was a change in plastic between 07 and 2010, that was probably why.
We had a bit of an evening out, but now we're up about 15 % compared to a couple years ago.
>>
>>6467384

>>
>>6467463
>G1 cartoon accuracy

I mean yeah I suppose but it has that realism aesthetics because how the makers really sacrificed for the plane mode including the thrusters, the opening nosecone, an air break, etc. while the robot mode has some flaws. I really wish we can have a new Starscream mold including new changing faceplate expressions just like we have a new MP-Megatron mold.

There's some videos out for Dragonstorm. This one is an hour of moon accomplishing very little, but yo can gleam some information by skipping around.
https://youtu.be/a9RnstXIrHc?t=7m15s

There's also a video warning about his fragile neck, but like most toy reviewers he isn't very clear or indepth with it. Apparently the plastic his head to his neck is too fragile, but I'm not convinced he didn't just hamhand it or get a bum toy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUA526mBNrM

Unf. These last few movies have given us god-tier jailbait. she's a perfect fit for my Kiss Players Neo idea.
>>
>>6468189
Yes, I really want to see a fightan robutts movie based on the human characters. That's totally what all the Bay movies have been missing, more focus on the humans! How do humans cope with these robots and such? In fact, maybe they should just remove the robots from the movies entirely, just have the movie be about how male and female humans decide to get together to mate! That would be a much better movie series.

And you can't call the movie "Transformers" either, that's way too goofy. You need to call it "In Plain Sight" or something else deep-sounding. You can't have the robots turn into cars either, there's just no way to work that in, so instead the alien robots will POSSESS cars for exciting chase sequences!
>>
>>6468156
Devastator was way too many robots for one kid to beg their family to buy. I could never buy em all.
>>

TR got me back into collecting retail stuff after CW was an absolute mess of compromise. I was never triggered by the concept of headmasters and "partsforming" like some faggots. I think it's fun on a bun. I'm actually grateful it's over because now my wallet can rest. PotP seems to be a bit more shit.

Top five are:
>Hardhead
>Triggerhappy
>Brainstorm
>Wheelie
>Kup
>>
>>6467963
1. Triggerhappy: Best transformation in the line. I sold him though because I'm buying the legends version.
2. Black Shadow: I prefer the edgelord colours.
3. Gnaw: I'm not a huge fan of legends but he's a lot of fun.
4. Quake: Hardhead mold is great but I like Quake's colours and headsculpt more. I also think this mold has the best titan master integration in the line.
5. Shuffler: I like the obscure characters and it's a cool face.
>>
>>6468317
>Quake
God I do love that motherfucker, I don't even have any attachment to the character he just looks like a perfect Decepticon d-lister and I love those. It helps that Hardhead is already a great mold, but Quake's colors really pop.

Haha yeah look at this fun uncompromised toy
>>

Galvatron was probably the only compromised toy, everything else was great.

Voyager Megatron/Blitzwing Excellent, G2 optimus/Octone excellent, Trypticon is excellent, Blaster and Soundwave are very good, Sixshot/Quickswitch is amazing, Skyshadow/Overlord incredibly well done and interesting.

And Combiner Wars doesn;t even seem that bad now since we're getting Seacons, Abominus, Predaking, and Dinoking/Monstructor.
>>
>>6468332
Talk about cherrypicking. Pretty much every other toy in the line came out great, especially the deluxes. Geewunners are just triggered because some characters are headmasters now.

Meanwhile, pretty much every figure in CW is a playskool-tier yawn-fest for the sake of being an arm or leg.
>>
>>6468340
>Galvatron was probably the only compromised toy,

No there was also Alpha Trion. We know that the ship mold and headmaster gimmick was added later and that according to the concept artist he like Galvatron was part of CW (it's questionable whether he was intended to combine though.

1: Blaster. Severely underappreciated mold. Good base mode, nice G1 boombox mode. Even has ankle tilts.

2: Hardhead. The guy is just great.

3: Blur. Bitch about his color scheme all you want, the mold itself is very good.

4: Weirdwold. Alright, he has the hinge issue. But otherwise, he is great.

5: Rewind. Great little Legends dude.

>>
>>6468350
I got the feeling galvatron was meant as a leader class and got scaled down when they decided leaders needed base modes, and galvatron can't really do that.
Then again, galvatrons arms are engineered in a way that he could have his forarms replaced with claws and then a bit of retooling and he's scorponok

The worst Titans Returns figures are the Decepticon Headmaster Trio.

Weirdwolf - The hinge issue. You may think yours is fine but it will break eventually unless you never transform him.

Mindwipe - 90% rubber

Skullcruncher - Loose floppy mess. This also goes for Krok.

and Galvatron sucks too.

Unrelated but kinda related.

My main gripe with TR was how the first wave was so good with Hardhead and Skullcruncher being top tier but the others like Blurr/Scourge were terrible.
And how the Titan Masters there had painted heads or at least colored heads in wave 1 and then just dropped next wave.
They just stopped putting in effort.
>>
>>6468420
Yeah Legends Hardhead was the first toy with the gimmick I got and I thought he was great. Then everything just went downhill from there.
>>
>>6468402
This.
I only got Skullcruncher because I needed a deluxe BW alligator Megatron and had to spend hours fixing the hips. Rubber Soul leaves my Chaos Trinity two members short because Bugly never ever after the line that was supposed to give us a good Mindwipe. I'll stick to the fuckexpensive ROTF Mindwipe for extra edge.

The only one I bought impulsively was Perceptor and I really don't like it that much. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy every single product marked Transformer, Generations, or Titans Return.
>>
>>6468362
The face sculpt of Nautica sucking has nothing to do with the shape. The face is all wrong and the framing around it too. The eyes are narrow, the nose is too sharp and the lips are strange. You also hot the head crest which is wrong in it's detailing making the head look even longer. They made an effort to avoid making it like the comics and that's clear.
>>
>>6468428
I love Perceptor, but tastes are always subjective. I'm just bored of anon trying to rile up a shitposting war. If he doesn't like a product he doesn't have to buy it, end of story.
>>
>>6468414
I think what pisses people off is not the fact that they have to buy the toys or anything, it's more towards the fact of what we could've gotten instead if hastack didn't decide to go through with this shit gimmick.

I really liked the gimmick because piloted robots are cool but the lack of paint in the titan masters ruined it.
I just transform them back and forth, no pilot hijinks, I just don't feel like it. Thanks a lot, John "Butcher of Tat Thuong" Warden.

>>6468445
I don't fucking get it either but as >>6468450 points out some people really wanted a redux of a character that got a figure during TR.
Perceptor might have been one of the worst cases but only because it can barely be piloted in vehicle mode; I don't mind it being a headmaster but yeah, some might.

>>6468462
I don't mind Perceptor not being pilotable, I haven't even tried out his """tank""" mode yet, all I wanted was a good microscope guy and he's pretty much there. I do wish characters like Blurr and Scourge hadn't been done as headmasters, but given the option of not getting any toy of the characters that have shown up in TR I'm overall happy with the additions to my collection.
I did skip Kup though, even though the Generations one isn't perfect it's good enough until a better one gets made.

>>
>>6468402
>Loose floppy mess
If this is the only complaint, it's easily fixable with some floor polish. Seriously, at this point, every Transformers collector should have a bottle. I'm not making excuses for Hasbro, but it's not something that ruins a toy.
>>
>>6468493
Also rubber teeth, rubber head detail, rubber cabin cover, back cast in pink painted green, and hollow feet that can barely keep it standing.
>>
I got MPM Bumblebee today. Did anyone else have issues with those side clips not lining up and tabbing in correctly? I feel like the pressure is going to crack the windows that collapse into his torso. Also, are the arms supposed to go under those tabs to keep them from constantly swinging upwards?
>>
>>6468451
It's crazy how Blurr has more of a soft feminine face than Nautica does. At least the upcoming Arcee is better. Narrower nose, rounder eyes, softer lips. Her little chin piece and lack of paint on the lips is a bit detrimental, but still - better overall.
>>
>>6468420
I wouldn't put Skullcruncher in with the deluxe top tier, personally. For me it's Hardhead, Topspin, Kup (purists be damned, that transformation is amazing), Trigger Happy, and Double Cross.
>>
>>6468507
Yes those side clips are royal cunts. The problem is the round bar gets pushed upwards by the tab itself because round pegs and angles always work SO well. I'm planning on angling the peg itself with my fileset so it can stop happening.

The arms are supposed to go over the panels, but I can't shake the feeling that the small yellow panel at the top of the wheelwell was meant to be fused to the arm socket. One side of my figure was like that before I popped it apart, and it sat snugly without flopping.

I know people want everything all at once and they want it now, but there are over two hundred G1 and G1.5 characters to try to get around to yet. That's just from 1988 thru 1991. US, England and Japan.

That's not the 1984-1987 characters they skipped. Then there are the ones like Warpath that they know they have to redo. You're looking at a good five or six years to get past 1991 characters. Assuming they don't circle back round to 1984, they might eventually get to BW and beyond while you are still alive.

Hoist and Bendy Prime are A+ top tier deluded in any collection. Tidal Wave is like an A- or B+ depending on how much his lack of knees bother you.

From there you get a handful of toys that are like, really good TOYS but aren't necessarily the most posable. Toys like Overload and Scavenger.
