Shinkocchou Seihou roughly means true skeletal realization, so better proportions and suit accuracy when remaking older figures, or doing Riders that have yet to get a SH Figuart, like Hibiki. While also giving them fancy boxes because they can.

So I got my second Han Solo today (had to return it because the damn shoulder joint snapped as soon as I moved it) and the new one has the exact same problem in that the left shoulder joint is ridiculously stiff to the point that it would break if I try moving it. Is this a common problem or am I just really unlucky with QC? Also, how fix? Heating it didn't seem to help

It will probably have issues of its own, so it'll even out. More people probably got the Mafex cause of the more traditional articulation and unmasked head, but this thing won't scale with Figuarts considering how badly they're butchering their own DC line.

That's where the swivel is, and is also what is stopping the arm from going 90 because the poser didn't move the shoulder into the butterfly joint to raise it higher, a rookie mistake with this style of joint on a SHF.

I think Bandai doesn't know what to do with Pokemon. I think the big push for them was getting to sell Pokemon in the West, which Tomy wouldn't allow it for various reasons. Max Factory and Goodsmile worked around that by being Pokemon Center exclusives. Meanwhile, Bandai can't seem to find an out. I'm guessing they don't see profit in selling Pokemon SHF with giant set pieces to get them across the Pacific like with Marvel stuff.

So, I think Ash and Team Rocket are meant be a "reboot" of the line, turning up that nostalgia up to 11. However, these releases are barebones because I assume they're worried about repeating low sales. So they gave these productions small budgets. If they fail like Mega Blaziken or Pikachu did, they won't suffer as huge a loss. Such a shame though, since Ash could have come with a separate Pokeball, an open Pokeball, and a Pokedex on top of what he already came with.

The thing is I think they could succeed if they wanted it hard enough. They have an advantage over Max Factory after Max jumped to Gen 7. Bandai could just keep hitting those 90s beats, releasing Gen 1 Trainers and Pokemon. That's another thing: the Pokemon. Of the two, Bandai is the only one willing to do actually Pokemon so far apart from little guys they can package as accessories to Trainers. Do something like the Zukan line but blow it up to 1/12. Justify doing certain Pokemon based on Trainers related to them, now that you have them.

But Bandai prefers to behave like an alcoholic parent to their children after having "failed" what was meant to be a big break. They'll tend to them sometimes, but those kids mostly won't exist to them. Whatever.

You could always pass on the SHF, but for the love of God, don't support MAFEX. I'd say 6 out of every 10 releases they do are subpar and that's being generous. Got my $30 Dr. Strange + Flame Effects set in. For $30 I'm definitely happy with it. At $90 probably not quite as much. No bicep swivel that I could find, a heavily restricted ankle joint, and the cape is hard plastic that weighs too much for the figure to stand upright straight on its own. Yet for $85+ they couldn't bother putting in a Tamashii stand. The box is more than big enough to contain one, too. A total of 6 sets of hands, two sets of magic rune effects, two heads with barely any difference, but a lot of very nice detailing and coloration.

I never seen the original series so it has nothing to do with "not living up to a previous work". I'd say my main issue is that I expected a decent story with a smart narrative and all I got is the Yamato overpowering everything in a boring way and characters that most of the times didn't have a good arc of development.

Imagine a show with super robots rules that instead of going all out in awesomeness operates as a semi-grounded sci-fi space opera. It's quite boring.

Man, 2chan pictures are usually my favorites. Yeah, their cameras aren't as good as the "pro" reviewers, and their lighting and setups sometimes suck. But their pictures are typically more creative, their sense of humor is better, and they often showcase articulation better than the pros. I feel like it also gives us a better spread/range of ideas on how to pose the toy, since there are really only a handful of "pro" reviewers that everyone repeatedly runs to, and if we're really being honest, I feel like some of them are burned out and just going through the motions cause they need to churn out SO many toy reviews. 2chan feels fresh by comparison, it feels like people who are really enjoying the toy.

I will still go to the pro reviewers to see the toy all shiny and perfectly lit and crisply defined, but for my personal enjoyment and a deeper insight into how the toy can be posed, it's 2chan every time.

Overall I like figma bodies in terms of construction and look. Just comparing Sailor Moon to Miku (I randomly grabbed her from my shelf to do a quick comparison), there's a smoothness to the joint movements in a figma compared to figuarts. Figuarts does have nice posability like a figma.
The one issue I have come across from some of the figuarts girls is the wrist peg. It is extremely difficult to change their hands. Poor Ichigo's hand snapped right at the peg and all I had done was just change the position of the hand. Ever since I have been extremely careful with Sailor Saturn and Nico because they have that same wrist peg type. Oddly enough, Sailor Moon's hands are much easier to switch out, but the wrist peg is different.
Apart from that issue, Figuarts have a few figures from shows I do like (Precure, Ranma, Lupin, etc) and since they don't have figmas, I'll take a figuarts just the same.

I know it didn't exactly work perfectly, but anyone remember Twist Action Form? It was an interesting attempt at making seamless bodies by placing hollow plastic body parts over a wireframe armature, then covering it with a cloth "skin." It was a good try, and they looked quite nice from the front, but sadly, their bendy limbs looked strange from side view. But anyway, it does show that Bandai can come up with some interesting ideas...I hope they have something unique up their sleeve for seamless SHFs.
