Looks like I ended up falling for the Iron Factory meme.

Bridge Watcher is actually pretty nice, I think my only issue with him is that the head is impossible to get out of his chest without tweezers and that his double-knees do that annoying thing where the second joint likes to bend before the first.

And the joint tightness seems mostly fine, maybe slightly tight but nothing locked in placed or impossible to move or anything. Ironically enough his right hip balljoint is actually kind of loose and I'm in the process of letting some floor polish cure on it.

Mine has a pretty rough sprue-mark on the back of the clear purple part of his head, try that? I can consistently grab it by that and I have really short fingernails. But yeah, the first time I transformed him back to robot mode, I went "where am I supposed to grab that?" when I got to that part.
>>
>>6460214
There's no sprue to grab onto there for me, I might try cutting a notch into it or something.
>>
>>6460205
But it's a MT promo shot, so it only makes sense for Despotron to be used.

Loving my Bridge Watcher too. Although now my two Insecticons look like looming giants standing next to him.
>>

I always use my finger nail to get the hexagonal point on the side of his head. If you pull from there it'll turn the head enough to grab his lil ear thang.

I haven't actually like locked in a purchase yet so there's still time for me to be swayed after we start seeing everything in color and all that, but I'm pretty sure I'm on board for UT. I don't necessarily care that much about the partsforming on the Zeta one and the combined mode looks really nice but the individual bot modes are just SO good on the UT ones and SO bad on the Zeta ones.
>>
>>6460356

I already have Warbotron.
>>
>>6460356
Neither, I'm waiting to see what other companies will do. Zeta's looks better though.
>>
>>6460356

I haven't decided yet but I'm really happy that the Bruticus wars have finally kicked in cause these both look great

I've wanted a new Bruticus for forever since the Fansproject one that I have sitting around somewhere doesn't exactly feel up to snuff anymore but I thought the Warbotron one just looked absolutely awful. Just like the exact opposite of my aesthetic tastes, really not for me. So I'm glad both of these are happening and I have two really good seeming sets to choose from. I'll hold off on actually deciding till there's been like reviews of everything.
>>
>>6460356
Neither, I don't care about scale and Iron Factory looks more aesthetically pleasing in combined form. G1-er's can fuck off.
>>
>>6460356
At this point, neither.

For the sake of curiosity, Bridge Watcher's hose is easily removable, though when the rubber eventually rots it'll probably be a bitch to actually replace it with anything.
>>

A little more effort and this would have been great.
Bigger feet, thinner forearms, maybe reduce the backpack size.

Cross line stages/stands/props are common for figuarts and gundam stuff that all use a universal peg system but it's a damn shame that 3P/TF's can't get on the same page.

Even if turd party companies all directly copied the tolerances on the weapon clip in system on MP's so we could have a universal weapon system it would be great.

Hadn't ever bought Bootformers before, but I got curious after seeing a bunch on AliExpress for $3-$3.75 each with free shipping that looked a lot like classic ones. Ended up picking up the Megatron knockoff and have to say, he's not too bad for the price.

Knockoff company is Machine Boy or something like that. Megatron does look like Megatron at least, minus the cannon but the gun is okay. Surprising articulation for a $3.75 transformer, head can turn and he can flex at the elbows and knees for reasonably dynamic posing.

Here's the back, which doubled as simple instructions. The line had knockoffs of Optimus, Hot Rod, Bumblebee, Starscream, Megs, and another that I can't remember but whose head and color scheme heavily reminds me of Beast Wars Terrorsaur.

The figure doesn't feel flimsy and he looks alright for the price, so I might pick up Starscream for him to choke out sometime.

I figure a kit that maybe changes the grill, forearms, or the lower legs some could be a huge improvement and less invasive.

>>6461236
Sure, but I would also say if you're going to go to the trouble of making an add-on kit that changes almost the entire figure, why not just MAKE an entire figure instead?

Actually, that's what I said when that add-on kit was first revealed, because I feel like it's almost an entirely new figure anyway, and they could still make it CW-compatible.
>>
>>6461238

I'm still hoping we see some kind of 3rd party combiner wars limbs or torso compatible figures.
>>
>>6461201
I haven't had any paint flake off my MP Laserwave's hose yet and I hope to god it doesn't happen any time soo. It looks so nice.

>>6461217
The only reason I think all those CW Optimus kits are dumb is that for all the lengths they go to improving the base figure, they do absolutely nothing to change the completely godawful arms
>>
>>6461250
Major issue I ran into with the mold was the hips. Though that was with the CW Optimus. They weren't loose, just the ratchets weren't able to go to the right positions, so I just flipped them around so it was a friction join instead.

From what I know this was rectified in later releases of them?
>>
>>6461252
I'm not sure how I'd best fix the arms really. I'd like the grill section to maybe be less... wonky looking and some wrist rotation would be nifty.
>>
>>6461257
He's way too compromised from being a torso bot and being a motormaster pretool. Unless you do replace half the bot in kits you aren't fixing the bot man proportions.

"Humanoid" is a pretty broad classification of shape. There are tons of variations, and I think that still falls well within them. Plus, they're robots. I think their anatomy should be allowed some idiosyncrasies with what we typically consider to be a standard humanoid shape. It's more interesting that way.

I'm not sure how true that is but I honestly don't see it being a problem in the long run. They've had problems with other car companies in the past (Volkswagen, most notably) but always got there in the end.

Pretty much all the official Autobot car Masterpieces have great articulation though so I'm not sure why you're too worried about that.

>>

Just say third-party, like a normal person.

And for "CHUG" (ugh), you can just say Classics or Generations or whatever. Classics and Henkei are the same moulds (Henkei having some Universe crossover) but most Classics figures are smaller than all the later ones anyway, with only the aesthetic being the same.

That, and the Generations line is the longest-running Classics-style line at this point and the majority of the figures are from that line, so why not just stick with that?

Plus, we have things like Reveal the Shield which aren't included in that stupid acronym.

Personally, I just say "Classics-style" or "Generations(-style)" but, you know, whatever.

I just hate the acronym "CHUG" because it sounds absolutely horrible and is an imperfect grouping of product lines.

>>
>>6461843
I thought the original intent was that they were always meant to share the mold but nobody liked it so Tarn was changed to have is own.

Besides, parts reuse has been pretty common on MMC figures lately. Just look at the original Tarn's elbows (which are now on Hot Rod). Those are the same elbows that they used for their Lockdown/Death's Head/Cyclonus figures. The leg engineering is pretty similar across all of them too. If anything, it could be argued that they retooled Lockdown into Tarn and then into Hot Rod. It doesn't make it any less shitty but it seems to reach much farther back than the initial Tarn reveal.

Now we're seeing even more retooling with Thunderclash using the new Tarn mold and the whole Roadbuster/Strika/Bulkhead (though it was a good mold, I'll give them that) and Whirl/Obsidian thing (who are also using the same elbows as Lockdown and Hot Rod). Plus we have Drift coming who will be a retooled version of Wing. Something must have happened at MMC, either some sort of financial troubles or new management that is causing them to pinch pennies like this but I don't like it. Hopefully this trend ends soon because the results are far too hit or miss.

Alright, all mistaken shipping aside, finally had a chance to mess around with Optimus here. I gotta say, the plastic on him doesn't quite feel like the normal IF plastic, or at least, the red anyway. It doesn't feel bad or anything, just I expected...I don't know what I expected. Maybe it's just a case of "red plastic always feels a bit worse in most cases"?

Other than that though, I like him. A lot. He looks awesome as fuck, I love the truck mode, even if it took me like 20 minutes to figure out exactly how to tab the damn arms in. Love how all of the extra stuff turns into the truck trailer too.

And yes, my Shockwave had tight as fuck thighs until I gave them a turn, like other Anon's here. That loosened them up. I suspect maybe it's the paint doing it, at least initially. I've had other figures (not TF's) get paint in joints and parts break off due to that. Kinda hope it didn't damage them with that initial turn, unfortunately, the thighs are closed off so I can tell. Still...It's Shockwave. Simple but effective design. Wish he were a bit darker, but it was either not buy him and spend $15 on shipping, or get free shipping and spend $24 on a figure. I think I chose wisely.

The hips pinch the treads when the leg is moved forward and cause lots of chipping and stress on the plastic

the knees and hips have oddly spaced ratchets witch makes posing him awkward

his feet make him incredibly hard to balance.

one of the horns fell off his helmet as soon as I took him out of the box

all of his joints have fucked up tolerances and clearance issues. Shit is constantly falling off him

no waste swivel (without cheating the transformation and having it look like hsit)

he has one too many tank treads in the rear, and one too few up front. Id more a link from the back to the front, but it feels like it will break. ect, ect, ect.

Haven't they? TCP did it. The A3U third-party panel had comments on it.

Everyone has basically said it's quite good with some loose tabs such as the chest tab. So it's a decent price but you'll need some floor polish. It also comes with no instructions, for what it's worth.

Seems decent to me. I'm gonna grab one this weekend, most likely.

They've made an Optimus, Omega Supreme, an OC Donut Steele Dinobot, Perceptor, Starscream, and I think teased Megatron recently.

Also, save up, it's what I do. I'm a huge poorfag, most of the stuff I get involves saving for at least a month, usually longer. It's a real bitch too, because usually this means I can't preorder anything because I might not have the money by the time it comes out. This thing is still my grail, took me soooooo fucking long to save up for it.
>>
>>6463082
Right but I'm saying that it took a KO to make Leonidas good, and I'm specifically saying fuck Leonidas, the genuine article.
>>
>>6463087
I guess! I'm just glad that floppy piece of shit exists, that's all.
>>6463086
>tfw got him for piss cheap on eBay because they were all factory stolen copies, except for Talon
>>
>>6463086
Oh, I remember Omega Supreme. Didn't realise that Starscream was theirs but I might have to get that at some point. It's gorgeous and I like that design. I should look into some of their others, I suppose.

I'm bad at saving money but that tends to be what I do anyway. Also.. I have lots of other things I want before that. I just like buying things because I'm a fuckwit (I probably have a legitimate shopping problem), but I rarely get paid for my work at the moment (long story short, cutthroat industry) so that makes things hard too.

I just wish I had more disposable income, I mean, because there are SO MANY figures I want to play with. If I had friends who were into Transformers and local to me, that wouldn't be as much of a problem - there are lots of figures I'd absolutely love to play around with but not buy, for example.

Also, no offence anon, but I bought Feral Rex a piece at a time and... I didn't like him in the end. He LOOKS awesome but I just didn't find him even remotely fun. Most of the individual figures were quite fun (I wasn't really big on Rampage though), but to play with it as a set and especially combined, I just didn't enjoy it. Maybe part of it is because I don't really have the space to play with it, but still...
>>
>>6463094

Oh, I'm not gonna deny he pretty much sits on my shelf. But then again most combiners do. They're usually pretty fiddly things and eat up space. Also my not-Tantrum has kind of a weak ratchet compared to the rhino guy, and has a somewhat loose screw on his arm flap that tabs into the body. Kind of a downer, because I'm one of those people who is OCD as fuck about any flaw in my figures. I've been contemplating trying to replace him, but then I'd have spent another wad on a double of an already expensive figure just to satisfy a problem that is 2 parts real and 8 parts OCD.

Still, I love the thing. I think it looks gorgeous and issue with one figure aside, it's damn nice. Of course, that hasn't stopped me from nearly breaking the damn thing by tipping it over on accident, which let to me scraping some of the chrome off the shoulder guns.

...My luck is pretty shit at times, now that I think about it.
>>
>>6463100
I think they might have put out replacement elbows for Bovis and Fortis. I don't remember. I know some people had problems with them. I didn't really but I think if you do, MMC should replace them.

I'm not sure how to contact them (probably Facebook) but look around TFW and you'll probably find out. Send them a message and they'll probably help you out.

And yeah, my luck sucks too (what luck?) so I understand. I find Hercules to be more fun as a combiner though, personally (yes, I know, I know, but still).
>>
>>6463127

It's not the elbows actually. It's the screw that goes into the black...Flap...Thingy that the entire arm is on. The big black flap armature you swing around to put him into foot mode. The screwing holding that in is super loose, but screwing it in more doesn't tighten it. I think maybe the hole inside is wrongly toleranced or something.

Dunno why his ratchet is weaker. Maybe because the screw is loose, and that screw goes into the body, it's not putting the last bit of pressure the other 3 screws are? No idea.

Also I've had him for a while, don't think they'd replace parts on something I've had for like a year+.
>>
>>6463136
I'd have to look into it further to remember exactly which part you're talking about, but I still say it's worth asking MMC for parts. I've heard there pretty good in that regard.

Most third-party companies don't mind when you bought a figure; that if they do replacement parts, they'll replace hem for you whenever, as long as they have them in-stock.

It's worth at least asking them and seeing if you can get a replacement, because it certainly beats getting a new figure, and I'm OCD about that sort of stuff too so I totally understand how you feel about it.

Alternatively, you but another, return the original one, then use the store credit to buy something else.

Vulcan is pure genius and best Dinobot available right now period. Summanus is cool but has issues. Quirinus is cool but has issues too. Neptune is their early figure and it shows - it works, but flawed. Caelus is good. Triton is retool of Neptune with even more issues, so avoid it unless you really want that Paddles.

If I could dial it all back, I'd get Hephaestus or new Metallic Vulcan, maybe Summanus and Quirinus and stop there. Vulcan mold is a must, it's too good to pass on, even at it's price.

Cons: Pistons are barely moving in alt mode. You can't store every single accessory in robo mode. Double elbow joint is good, but one joint is stiffer than other.

Pros: Solid build, heavy without diecast meme in it. Good range of accessories. Very nice matte plastic, good to perfect paint job, perfect headsculpt. He is just good overall, no weird gimmicks, solid modes and choice of accessories. Doubt anyone will make a move to do their own take on voyager IDW Impactor for next 10 years, Spartan just fits perfectly.

Photos misrepresent him a bit, I thought that threads are smaller which gave that Metal Slug style, but in hand tower looks smaller and it does work as a tank. Similar thing I have with Calidus: he looks bulkier on photos, and leaner in hand.

I think my one gripe with Bridge Watcher is the lack of a stand to display him in gun mode. I guess they never expect you to leave him in gun mode unless a War Giant's holding him.

Also I messed up straightening out his hose (it came pretty wonky in the box for me) and left a few marks on it from where I tied it to a spoon to keep it straight while I dunked it in hot water for a bit. Not a major thing but it's still a bummer.

I have such a hard time filtering takaracucks from people who might have genuinely weighed the pros and cons of unofficial and official products and reached a conclusion that the takara product is better.

People were calling MP36 better than the unofficial options the fucking day he was leaked, and even when he was released and turned out to be a QC nightmare shedding paint, shit tolerances due to overpainting, and unable to use his fucking accessories without further paint damage, takaracucks filtered it all. I didn't buy the official one, actually.

I'm simply saying that PerfectEffect are not the gold standard that some of you people make them out to be. Their Ginrai has clear, obvious flaws, not to mention that you have to buy three fucking separate sets to complete it (or at least two, if you don't care about the God Ginrai wing and weapon upgrades), and for all the money you spend on those, you could buy the official God Ginrai at least twice over.

And whilst some things such as combiner pieces are indeed an improvement, PE isn't working on a restrained budget and parts count like Hasbro and TT. Yes, sometimes they make inexcusably shitty toys, but they make some gems too.

>he likes PerfectEffect's add-ons for add-ons for add-ons
Well this explains why you've got such a hateboner for official stuff. You're a third-party cuck.

Whilst I agree, >>6463597 is still right about how he presents his opinions and objective flaws, and that does become annoying. Still, I'd rather watch him than fucking EmGo any day of the week.

Listening to EmGo makes me want to slit my fucking throat.

Misery. That MP Tracks/Road Rage mould sucks ass, and I LOVE official Masterpieces.

Shoulders don't tab in well, head falls back, basically no proper back, backpack is a nightmare to tab in and often pops out when posing it (especially posing the shoulders and wings, which causes the shoulders and then the backpack to all pop out), and if it's like Tracks, loose-ass ratcheting knees that you'll need to pad (preferably with some sheet styrene) so that it isn't so damn wobbly.

>Possible. My Tracks had this, but not my Loudpedal
Loudpedal was a later release. I'm willing to bet Road Rage still has the knee problem.
>It's really not that bad. I don't get why people complain about it so much.
Yes it is. More people should be complaining about it. If you don't tab it in just perfectly, it comes out. If you move the wings, it comes out. If you move the shoulders, it comes out. If you move the arms, it often pops out. It's a disaster. Not to mention he's hollow between that and the chest.
>Um... no? It looks fine and you can have it in a multitude of positions
How can you think that head is okay? It's on a platform that can easily be knocked back because it has nothing holding it up but friction, and it's in an awkward default position. The whole design is terrible.
>a gun that can't store in vehicle mode
>Really, who cares?
The gun can store in vehicle mode, in the cab. It's in the instructions. Moot point. But how both of you missed that, I'm not sure. It just tabs in. The only downside if you have to store either the gun OR Blaster - you can't store both.
>back panels that don't close properly with the mirrors attached.
>They do close properly. You don't have the mirrors pushed into the doors far enough.
I'm not even sure what the issue is here. This stuff should be fine. It's everything else that's the problem.
>I love this mold
I am genuinely sorry for you.
>so I always white-knight for it.
Stop it. You're embarrassing yourself.
>It has a few more flaws than your average autobot car
No, it has several more, and is objectively the worst Masterpiece Autobot car mould.
>but it's so damn stylish that I give zero shits.
You shouldn't blatantly give into consumerism so hard, anon.

Depends on what you like. One looks like Arcee and one looks like Elita One. They DO have different colours, you know.

I have both Vulcan and severo. Vulcan is my favorite between the two. Severo has cool accessories though, and more of them.
