Where to buy second hand Shinkis:
>eBay, Amazon - generally overpriced, but you might get lucky.
>Mandarake, Rakuten - search 武装神姫 and don't trust listing images.
>Yahoo Japan Auctions, Suruga-ya - you'll need a proxy if you’re not in Japan.
>Taobao - some shops ship international now, so you might not need a proxy.
>Amiami, Jungle-scs - occasionally get some preowned.
>Check the BST threads, My Figure Collection, and Busou Shinki World too.

How can I get a Singaporean gf?
>>
>>6453329
Does anyone else think the Magical Girl and Witch designs seem a little phoned-in?

I just get the feeling that Nagi was either bored or busy with these two.

>>
>>6453438
I think they just need kneesocks and will look a lot better.
>>
>>6453438
I'm not fond of the magical girl one, but I like the clean and simple style of the witch.
>>
>>6453424
Isnt she korean?
>>
I am deeply interested n the mecha fox girl but I'm hearing she's from a game I'm not familiar with?
>>
The Foxgirl and the Archer I can't get around, as the archer got Ara-Ara and spectacular hair and fluffy tail must be touched, but I'll give this Ninja a pass.

The magical girls I can't care about either.
>>
>>6453424

Just fly here and hang out in the right bars. Singapore party girls love white dick. Even the fattest, baldest turdfaces can easily pick one up.
>>
>>6453329
I can't help but see Nagato and Mikuru in the new Megamis...
>>
These kits won't be all that difficult to get after release, right? I assume they (megami device) will be popular enough to get reprinted?

I can really only get one out of roadrunner and hornet at the moment, they are both in stock at hlj but due to the gimmick of combining their weapons it would be sad if I couldn't complete the set later on.
>>
so about the Shinkis, someone mentioned something about a panel event or something where they would discuss things. i assume it probably happened by now but did they say anything?
>>
>>6453843
Megami Devices seem a bit sparse on the aftermarket, I'd recommend pre-ordering them as they release.
>>
>>6453843
There are no planned reprints yet.
>>
>>6453495
Does it matter? The design's the same whether you're intimately familiar with the source or not. That same reason would stop you from buying FAGs or MDs too.
>>
>>6453907
>>6453919

I ended up ordering both at a place that I'm at least certain will dodge customs unlike HLJ that gets caught every damn time which makes it cheaper. And on HLJ Hornet was more expensive than the norm for some reason.

Guess it's still potatoes and water for a month for me though.

I wonder if they will make a megami device anime in the future after the success of the FAG anime.
>>
>>6454193
They'll first make S2 of the Fag anime IF they see noticable increases in sales. The toy company actually paid for the cartoon, both for its production and for its spot on TV, so they'd like to see some ROI.

>>
>>6454336
yes, though isn't the plastic plenty smooth as it is? i know this is what some people do, but I wonder if it's unnecessary.
>>
>>6453329
I'm not feeling it anymore since looking at Juden-chan's art in color, something about them makes the whole design look kind of ugly.
Alice Gays look cool, though

Someone said in the last thread that Stinko is most popular FA/FAG and yet it's only Baselard's Extend Arms that get re-released.
Is Koto being dumb or just greedy? I don't want to have to buy a whole Khanjar just to cannibalize the Extend Arms now that we are going to get the technology to adapt them.
>>
>>6454336
You can use decal setter in lieu of gloss coat. Real time saver. I'm pretty sure it's just white vinegar, or vinegar and dish soap or something like that. Look it up if you don't want to buy any.

Can somebody hold my hand here for a second? The painting process goes like this:
Apply thinned paint to colored parts, wait till it dries, apply decals, color the lines, apply matte coat to parts and body.

>>

>How do I apply primer without losing the details on parts?

In thin layers.

>Is that really necessary?

Only if you completely repaint the kit.
>>
>>6455167
Alright, got it. What about decals though? Will they apply to acryl paint?
>>
>>6455194
It's generally advised to put a gloss coat on all the spots you'd like to apply decals to.
You'll put a final semi-gloss over the whole kit anyway, so it doesn't matter if it temporarily looks messy.
>>
>>6455082
piping on clothing is like a raised hemline between different pieces of fabric. You see it in sportswear, like a kind of a raised stripe.
>>
>>6455196
Is that because they apply better to an even surface?
>>
>>6454472
I for one would love to get a STyko, if only they decide to update the kit.
>>
So I just bought a tittyninja having never built one of these before.

I've worked with miniatures for a decade so I'm good there. Got all my tools/files and what not. But I'm more worried about paint/transfers. Do all the bits come grey like historical kits or are they "basecoated"? Do I need to bust out the airbrush? Is there any cheaper gundam figure or something I should destroy first to get a clue on what I'm doing?
>>
>>6455238
>updating kits
>Kotobukiya

One can certainly dream. I had a lot of hopes for Gourai Kai and yet what we got was the same V1 Gourai, recolored and with a couple of new armor bits. Even though they had a perfectly good InnoGourai from BD1.

>>
>>6455276
>Do all the bits come grey like historical kits or are they "basecoated"?

Yes, the parts come dyed, but unpainted except the faces. They'll usually end up looking decent if you just panel-line them, touch up some details and protect it all with a flat coat. As you've been working on miniatures, nothing of that should be new to you.

The manual tells you what each runner is; PS, ABS, POM, or PVC
>>
>>6456336

Yeah I don't have my kits yet which is why I'm asking. I'm not familiar with POM though, is it paintable?
>>
>>6456338
google "is POM paintable"
>>
>>6456338
>Polyoxymethylene (POM), also known as acetal, polyacetal and polyformaldehyde, is an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts requiring high stiffness, low friction, and excellent dimensional stability.

POM is also known as unpaintable plastic. But only the T-piece and some ball joint bits are in the POM runner, which is black. I don't think anyone would care to paint those anyways. And if you do, all those pieces are available on the ABS runners.
>>
>>6456344

Never mind, I remembered that hobbysearch has scans of the manuals and it seems like it's the hands that are PVC. That kind of makes me worried, as they're not flesh colored (at least looking at roadrunner) and as far as I know, PVC isn't paintable.

After well over a week of soaking , I have my report on RIT dye: Absolute failure. From left to right: cloth soaked in dye for 10 seconds, FAG upper arm (heavily sanded) , FAG leg part, White koto runner chunk, grey FAG part, White Gunpla part, Spess marine shoulderpad, ancient yellow resin (washed and scrubbed), fresh white resin (washed)

It looks like they've successfully got their new formula to only stick to cloth, which is bad news for anyone hoping to dye model parts.

Yeah, I seam welded everything together, then started priming+painting it all as one piece. I had the same fears as you of not being able to reach certain spots, but I went for it anyways. I did the first prime spray with the leg extended all the way, then I let it dry for 24 hours. Then I bent the leg all the way, exposing the areas that were not able to catch the first run.

Because I only had to spray only a few areas with no danger of chipping off, I only waited 2 hours before moving on to the paint spray (though you may want to wait the full 24 hours between every spray session). Still in the bent-leg position, I sprayed the paint on, making sure to get that little spot from before. Then I wait for the paint to dry 24 hours and extend the leg. Now I finish painting the whole leg. Again, wait another 24 hours and it should be safe from chipping.

You might have to lay it on a little thick in some spots so that the wet paint levels out into those hard to reach spaces. Be careful with that.

I'm using Tamiya lacquer spray cans, might be different if you're using something else.

Also, the joint where the toe piece and the foot piece connect rubs against each other. I made the terrible mistake of moving the toe joint before waiting the whole 24 hours drying time and I chipped off a bit of primer. I left that tiny chipped area un-primed. The next day I painted over that area and waited the whole 24 hours drying time. It's really amazing how well the paint holds up, that same area that chipped the primer and was left un-primed has not yet chipped the paint off. My recommendation is that you sand down that area a little so that the pieces don't rub against each other.

tl;dr: wait at least 24 hours of drying time before moving an articulated piece to a different position
>>
>>6456475
I'm wondering, if I lacquer prime with an airbrush, and since it's more gentle and gradual, that would it be possible I could prime everything in a single day, since the coats are thinner and dry faster?

Like, if I do a mist coat with the leg extended, wait for it to flash off then bend the leg for a mist coat and build it up so it's all even?

OR

is it all the same because the spacing is too tight? I've grinded out some more extra space so the joint doesn't grind against the inside of the limbs so easily?

Nearly done my first kit, a WISM sniper, and i have to say it was a good learning experience for future endeavors. Specifically:

-Paint carefully around elbow and knee joints.
-If at point you feel the need to force something in, sand that shit.
-Splurge on that good topcoat from the get go.

All that's left is to pray to my heathen deity that the super glue is strong enough to keep the hip joint together.
>>
>>6456516
Don't know if it'll work differently, but I'd personally still wait a whole 24 before moving joints.

I say 24 hours because that's an organic time interval. It's a day-by-day thing. However, I don't know if maybe it was properly dry at 8 hours, 12 hour, 20 hours? Who knows. How do we know if the difference in drying time between airbrushing and spray can is an hour, 2 hours, 5 hours, or no difference at all? Then we have to consider the temperature and humidity in your area. Maybe you sanded enough space between the parts that it's safe enough. It's a little too much uncertainty for me and I'd rather be safe than sorry with a kit and painting materials that are not cheap. I've fucked up several gunpla kits from being too impatient.
>>
>>6456549
The hip joint should be fine so long as you don't wave her around by the leg.

You have to remember the difference between DRYING time and CURING time.

Dry paint is usually touchable if you're gentle but it is very weak and easily susceptible to damage.

To be as resistant as possible to scratches and wear, paint needs to cure and curing time is usually measured in days to even weeks depending on application.

Pieces on joints need that protection the most and IMO it's not worth rushing it to save a day now only to get to the end of your project and find the paint is already wearing.
>>
>>6456746
You see, that's shit they don't teach you in art school. Which is kinda strange given the emphasis on interactive and conceptual art in this day and age.

For a photoshoot you can probably even use double-sided tape. I mean, it just has to hold until you're done.

>What would be good for attaching tiny metal bits like studs and clasps to the cloth?

Somebody made studs on handbags out of that window paint colour that was popular couple of years ago. For clasps, you'll have to make them and string them up on a flat piece of lacey.

You could probably also glue them on with a dab of epoxy.

At this scale? I'd say sculpt or paint them. We're talking about extremely tiny ass details here. Like shit that would've been painted on on actual life-sized sculptures for the vast majority of human history. A regular ring piercing'd be .25 mm wide at this scale -
If you're hell-bent on making them as seperate pieces, stretch a sprue to that diameter, warm it up again and turn it into a coil, then cut the small ass rings you need off that plastic coil.
>>
>>6457710
Melting and stretching a sprue seems like a bit more work than getting some beading wire and using that, but it's another option to look into at least. I think sculpting's probably the best, but I just wanted some more input.

Couple of things to mention.

First, there's a brand of dye that is supposedly closer to the original Rit formula (I think it's iDye, if I remember correctly). They also have a synthetics focused dye lineup. I don't know that it would be better than Rit, but it's something I wanted to mention.

Additionally, i've seen couple of how-to videos on dying ABS plastic call for adding a very small ammount (like a capful or two per quart of dye water) of acetone. Yes, it's a solvent, but in sufficient dillution it won't harm plastic functionally(at least not unless you soak it there for days), just break up the surface enough to give the dye molecules purchase. I would definitely look up more detailed how-to guides on that before you try it on actual model bits, though.
>>
>>6458169
All right, I'll do a little research and see what I can do.
>>
>>6458161

I've been wanting to start and I finally got a cheap airbrush and compressor set recently. I haven't used it yet. Do I have to dilute it or anything like that?
>>
Are there any good loli mecha musume kits?
Most of these seem about right but have big tits that look out of place.
>>
>>6458181

Megami device hornet and roadrunner aren't perflat but calling them big is just wrong.
>>
>>6458181

>>
>>6458177

>>
>>6458177
Yeap. 1:2 or near so. It must be liquid as milk. And dont try wet layer. Try half-wet. 2 thin layers before decal and 2 thin after would be enough.
After this slightly sand edges of decals to make them smooth and indistinguishable with surface.
>>
>>6458211

Dilute it with water?

Sanding the edges? Isn't that what decal fix (I think that's what it's called) does?
>>
>>6458181
All of the Frame Arms Girls except Hresvelgr and Innocentia have flat chests. Megami Devices are the ones with bigger tits, and even then only Archer and Ninja are properly stacked, with Snipe and Grapple still having a bit of curves but not a huge amount. Hornet, Roadrunner, Assault and Scout are all fairly slender, though not quite flat.
>>
>>6458181
There's ones but i forgot the entire name, Garden something or whatever.

>>
>>6458223
In Russia we dilute it with vodka. Easy and cheap. But you can use tamiya x-20 thinner.
Decal have glue layer all over it, not only the edges. Without sanding decal will look like bump on the surface. You better watch videos on youtube or visit ganpla thread and guide.
>>
I assume there isn't any lineart for the megami devices yet? I always have a hard time deciding on colors without them.

Also, I can't decide if I should paint my hornet and road runner in the same colors or not, I guess it would be nice to be able to switch the armor around without it looking weird.

It's not a Liger, it's MSS Command Wolf. MSS is a pretty tiny and cheap line, but they're relatively nice kits (and they include those landscape bases too). Don't get them confused with the larger and more expensive HMMs.
