My bet, they were designing thunderwing when they got the clear to do sixshot and overlord, but one of those three had to be a retool
So they decided to roll thunderwing to potp (wave 4) and the work they had done got tweaked into blackshadow with overlord legs. The upper torso being 85% different is a strong sign it started as a different toy.

Got these 3 recently. Paid the full price without regrets.

That green legion Warpath is brilliantly designed. Love it.

G1 Quake is pretty neat and he felt very familiar about how he transform. The arms become the turret and the legs work just like those AoE/RiD 1step cars. He do feel a bit cheap but he's very well painted and solid all over. Love his targetmasters.

G1 Crosshair is BRILLIANT. He look amazing in both modes and his simple transformation is fun. Still, there's a missed opportunity here because with this shape and colors, he's definitely G1 Orion Pax who was misnamed.

The spaceship mode is still as incredible as ever.

Both Snapdragon and Apeface cost me 180$CAN each. That's 360$CAN total. A fucking fortune, but no regrets because I finally got back my childhood's Apeface and Apeface is finally with his bro.

Eh, it was hit and miss but it had it's highlights nonetheless and some pretty good figures. Headm- I mean Titan Masters don't bother me, unlike all the autist raging nonstop about 'partsforming'.

My biggest nitpick however is that we never got Snapdragon and Apeface, ACTUAL triple-changer headmasters. That and the fact I just wish Galvatron had a better head. I know he's a bad toy but I could have lived with it had his helmet been better implemented.

I could be biased because I got back into collecting Transformers with Titans Return.

Is transformers suffering 'fatigue' as a brand like it had in the late G1 and into G2 stage? All the stores I see seem to stock on movie and RiD toys that slightly sell and on some Titan Returns which sell even less, much to my eternal annoyance since I see stores still on wave 1 and 2, mostly full of shelfwarming voyagers I already have.

How many frickin' toylines are out nowadays? Three? Maybe Transformers need a break, as much as I hate to say this. Maybe Transformers need a bit of a break for a bit, at least on the shelves. I'm sure the IDW comics have their fans and could be keep going. Not that I care, however, never really read those.

Titan Return is an awesome line. I just love the fact that the Headmasters are back. Sure, making non-headmasters characters into headmasters is weird, but they DID brought back most of the original headmasters.

Making me want to collect the main ones PLUS their G1 counterparts. Expensive as fuck at 120$CAN plus taxes each, but oh so worth it. I love to see the G1 original paired with the new TR version.

Already got TR Mindwipe and Hardhead. So their G1 counterparts are already been ordered and on their way.

I'm not going to lie I sort of got back into buying Transformers by getting whatever struck my fancy, which for the most part were the Voyagers. Yes they are a bit weak in some parts but I'm a bit of a sucker for triple-changers. Galvatron and Six Shot are a bit of a buyer's remorse, I won't lie, but Triggerhappy makes me....well, happy. If we ever get later waves in fucknowhere, where I live, I plan to get Misfire and Slugslinger to make a trio. Plus maybe grab whatever else I can find once they start the inevitable aisle cleanup given how little those figures sell.

I'm a bit hopeful for PotP, even if I expect it to be just as much of a hit or miss. If the new combiner rumours are true, then you can bet I'll be scrounging up every store to try and build myself at least an Abominus. Odds are we may end up seeing more combiners in PotP as a Combiner Wars 2: Electric Boogaloo but since I missed out on CW, having only a G2 Menasor set, you bet that I'm hyped at the possibility of more combiners.

Is it wrong I have hopes that, if the new combiner leaks are indeed true (with a Voyager-class Hun-grr and seemingly Grimlock) that we get some redone Monstructor in some form? Now, hear me out on this:

Monstructor was retooled into Dinoking from Victory. If the dinobot combiner rumour is true, then perhaps they could mix and match some of the Dinobot and Terrorcon molds and make some re-imagined Monstructor team. I say re-imagined because odds are they would look like the Pretender shells rather than the inner robot, at least to some extent.

Dunno about this one, but Skullsmasher have a factory fault that give him very loose ball joints at the hips. It took several layers of Pledge Floor Finish to fix it. But once that problem is fixed, he's a solid toy.

Krok is a hommage to the old Action Masters original character. Wonky colors, but it work. If the hips are fine, good. If not, it's still worth picking up even if you have to pledge the ball joints.

The combined mode for PoTp Grimstone really does not resemble dinoking at all. Even with heavy retooling the Dino parts it would not match up to the proper parts. The allure of dinoking is the shells and to have the deluxe dinobots resemble them would not have the combined mode look like dinoking.

If you were to go the route of having a Dinoking with the deluxe dinobots painted like the interior robots and gone through the trouble of making a new center not since Grimlock is supposed to be reused as Dezaurus while packaging prime masters for each dinosaur with a shell resembling the dinoking team shells it would be a very expensive set. More expensive than Combiner Wars Liokaiser. It would essentially be a titan class price point which many retailers would find hard to swallow.

I would presume takara would alter the instructions so it tabs correctly, mpm03's manual differs slightly from hasbro's (I lack the hasbro version but they're printed differently), and after enduring emgo's rant its a very sensitive area that requires specific steps that aren't properly explained in the manual.

I don't own the toy, but I'm interested in it. I had a feeling that a lot of the mis-alignment issues ultimately just boiled down to the fact that most Transformers fans are fat-fingered mental-midgets with no sense of spatial awareness, 3-D thinking or problem solving skills. I mean, it shouldn't be as finicky as it is, but the fact that nobody was able to figure it out until now is kind of a disgrace.

If they don't retool him it'd be a waste.
Looking closer at the PotP grimlock, he doesn't have the tail piece that flips down by his knees. This suggests that, like his pretender version, he'll have the tip be partsforming.
At that point, all you really need to do is replace his chest cavity "wings" with actual wings, and slide them down on his back while keeping the head upright, and he's 90% the same as g1 deathsaurus
The only difference is robot mode isn't backwards.

I liked the Beast Headmasters. The others I could do without. In fact, a lot of the original Headmasters were done fairly well, like Triggerhappy. And I still have a softspot for Nautica, but I'm just a sucker for female TFs.
