Trying to make a titan/bigfig similar to the big demons in Nexo Knights or Groot. I need an idea for a head that's slightly bigger than a minifigure head that's black and gold and regal. Could be brick built or a helmet. I just have no idea where to start.
>>
>>6450293
You'll need to tell us more
>>
>>6450307
Neck joint is a towball cup vertically oriented. If a minifigure head won't take a pin or axle I can go for brick built. Like a brick deep is as far out the head can just out front the neck without getting in the way of the chest. Other than that it can be 4 units or 3 units wide. I hope I'm making this easy. And I'm going for a helmet/mask look. If there's a way to make a towball go into a piece and then use that piece inside of a minifigure helmet that also might work.

I liked some design elements in this scaled down Makuta figure but I'm not trying to 100% recreate it. I really like some of the torso elements and the arm designs. This is the starting point. If you can think of a head that is smaller than what this moc currently has that would fit well with the body size and aesthetic, then shoot some ideas. I just want some evil god titan for my minifigures to be oppressed by.

>>
>>6450440
Honestly most Bionicle moccers these days just use the mixel ball joint system more than actual bionicle parts when it comes to limbs.
And the bodies are mostly made of technic.
Besides the head, weapons, and some armor parts, Bionicle mocs hardly use Bionicle parts.
>>

That should definitely be a part of it, but for that size of figure, Technic/CCBS ball joints are definitely necessary.

Whats's a good complex set for someone who hasn't built in a long time? As far as the ones with lots of pieces go the one that interests me the most is the Sydney Opera House cause I love opera, and Lego doesn't have Teatro Colón. Too bad the lego set doesn't have the night light colors.

the sets (outside of technic) aren't hard at all to assemble, but the creator modulars or architecture sets would be the most complex. But I haven't made the sydney opera house myself

modulars still have them, and they are sold separately as part of the 'classic' theme

as to why regular sets don't have them, it's probably because sets are more vehicle/action oriented nowadays than just buildings/structures. to be honest it's a lot less limiting in terms of design so I don't mind

>why did they get rid of baseplates?

Lego baseplates aren't made in the Lego factories, they're actually made by Bayer. Because they're outsourced, the cost to produce them is higher than Lego would like. This, coupled with the fact that Lego's design philosophy has moved away from "static building on a single baseplate" to "multiple small structures that can be linked together, each on their own separate 16x16 plate", has caused their use in official builds to drop. They still appear in the Modular line (often in colors that either have never been used for baseplates before, or haven't been used for baseplates in decades), and you can still buy green and tan baseplates, and a couple varieties of road plates, in regular department stores.

Perfection.
Already did the aquarium that was earlier in the thread and dove into another idea I've had in my head for a while. Its a sports bar/restaurant in a modified shipping container.
Not decided on the colors and the stuff in red is heavily in progress

I hope so. Like I said, ive been AMD for the better part of close to 15 years now, mostly due to cost, but because my current system is falling apart at the seems, my GF was kind enough to basically hand me a blank check for my build, and when AMD decided to delay fucking everything and only made enough cards for miner fags, I said fuck them and stepped up to luxury.

Fuck, it would just be my luck that my new build would run everything at ten million fps, ultra mega super settings but crash and burn on something like LDD, which I use all the time.....

I dont know if you are all about "purity vs heresy" but you COULD just print out some of your own stickers. Theres also quite a few companies that do custom printing on OFFICIAL lego parts.

>>
>>6454752
Yeah, fuck, same here with the stickers. Ive tried to follow all the tutorials and youtube videos and such out there, but no matter what the stickers are always off by enough space for it to matter. Id love to know the exact specs some of those people used for their PCs, right down to the exact software because I just cant ever get the measurements right.
>>
>>6454752

I haven't tried this myself but Windex helps, supposedly, letting you slide the sticker around until it's placed just right. Then you just wait for the piece to dry.
>>
>>6454803
To be fair, I specifically was talking about PRINTING them out, but.....

Does that trick really work with official stickers?

I usually just use an xacto knife if they are crooked. Peel them off carefully and re-apply them, but I know one of these days ill slip with the knife and either fuck the piece, the sticker or my finger (wouldnt be the first time. Warhammer vet. nerve damage is a bitch.)

This solar panel is packaged along with the E-Motor and a sort of dynao doohickey whose name I can't remember that's used as supplemental materials for Lego Education stuff. They can be used alone, or in tandem with NXT for a medley of experiments.

Depends on which one. Some of them have pieces in an exclusive color, or near-exclusive, and the sellers know that people only want that piece for doing a modular, so they price it accordingly. I think I looked at what it would cost to part out the Green Grocer, and it was close to the actual list price. That was the only one I looked at though, so ymmv

I like it, maybe take one of the designs from the first floor and tweak it for the roof border? The curves look out of place if it's the only place that piece is in you build
The roof needs something also. Maybe you should make an air conditioner unit or pidegeon coop on the roof
And I know it's hard in LDD, but putting some of the tiles on the building askew can really help sell that it's a seedy building (that is if that's what you're going for, I remember you talking about this project before

We will get 5 sets especially for the celebration "60 years" topic.
Blacked out (not really, but without images, just boxes) but seems to be a new theme. One looks like a creator box in shape like a brick, and the smallest one should be around 5.99 to 9.99..
It is the box from classic. I would suggest that we will get 5 sets placed in different themes (f.e. the box a classic one) ...

Certainly more than any other mythology at least. I'm sure if a kid saw a lego set that was Mount Olympus and that had Zeus Poseidon and Hades in it or if there was a lego set that was the gates of Hades and was this one big skull and it came with a Cerberus and a tall statue of Hades they'd buy that shit in a heartbeat.

I don't find it worth it unless you have a big collection already so you can shave off a significant amount of pieces from the get-go.

For Green Grocer I already owned a Monster House and just cannibalized its sand green parts for the Grocer while switching them for old grey in the Monster House.

Another option is changing the color scheme into something cheaper like making sand green into sandblue.

And sometimes there are just some weird anomalies, like one piece costing multiple dollars when you could substitute it for two smaller pieces that cost just a few cents, or you just change the color because it's barely visible in the finished model. Monster House and Green grocer didn't have the same amounts of the same parts so I made some calculations of how many Ls (1 brick height and thickness) I had. I had just enough but using that method I ended up having to put a bunch of 1x1 bricks next to each other above some windows which is not as sightly as using 1x6s or 1x8s but can easily be hidden behind furniture or the roof from some angles.

My favorite bullshit is the dark bluish grey 4x4 curved wedge. It's in a dozen sets and on average 5$ per piece but you can get the same part with a sticker applied for 30 cents.

Don't forget the option to change the Theme (I think the "View" or "Tool Box" from the bar).

Mindstorms only has Mindstorms and parts
The one you currently use has every part in one color and you can use the paint bucket to change the parts in all colors
But the third theme has the parts listed in all available colors and by hovering over them in the selection you can choose the color you want to build with.

The third theme is kind of fucked because they don't really update it anymore but changing through them depending on which is more helpful for the current task saves a bunch of time.

Because sometimes (a lot of times) it's cheaper and easier to buy a set than to bricklink all the parts
Like someone earlier said, parting out the green grocer is about the same as buying it on the aftermarket
I tried to do the same with the adventure dragon fortress but the parts were the same price as buying it complete also. You can cleverly replace parts with cheaper ones, but that's a lot for some people

I generally like adding printed parts and large vehicle bits that I initially use to start building with. Problem for me is I keep dipping into minifig stuff and accessories.

Generally in most builders can always do with more slopes & tile elements, add containers/doors/shelving if you plan on ever building a decent kitchen. Anything they have at £0.01 could always be handy filler as well.

Corn Guy, Butterfly, Rocket Boy are rather uninspired costumes.
Elf is nice but with all the LOTR Elfs just kind of not useful due to skin contrast.
Surfer is the worst figure I have ever seen when I think about how they raised the price with the Batman line to 3,99€ and just a year ago there was a 4,99€ set available with the same stupid guy in blue instead of red with a bunch of other figures, shark and tower.
Strong man, Dwarf, 80s Guy, Frenchmen and Gladiator, are ok but it's mostly just different prints, barely any new parts or new colored parts.
Hotdog Man, doctor and Retro Spaceman are the only ones looking like they are worth 4 bucks, frenchie is also only ok due to the dog.

The price mark up really ruined the line for me. I can not justify this shit anymore. 80s Guy looks perfect and I would gladly have bought 3 of him for 2 or even 2,50€ but the hair piece is literally 20 cents on lego.com, the phone would be less than a cent on Bricklink if it were black, a head is always 23 cents on Bricks & Pieces, the legs maybe 40-50 cents, the only special thing here are the printed tiles and t-shirt arms and I got an army of the last due to the soccer players, albeit in flesh but no torso and two tiles are worth 3€ unless you are bricklinking parts from a limited release set. It's like Lego looked at the prices of rare and popular Bricklink pieces and thought that's what their shit is worth now. Like the Jedi Starfighter going from 25€ to 40€ with the green Seasee Tiin one just because they barely tweaked the design and added a second Jedi fig.
>>
>>6457481
Yellow figures can be any skin color, that was legos intention.

fair enough if you don't like it but the design is top notch. Really hits that 80s vibe.

even within that range butterfly girl is worse. it's sort of half-costume, half ordinary little girl, doesn't really know what it's trying to be
>>
>>6457473
I thought people loved this series? I have the Miami Vice guy, 80's exercise girl, elf princess, dandy highwayman, and ze Frenchman hon hon. Not sure if I should get the weightlifter, and the hot dog guy would be cool for a 50's diner moc. I could always use more dwarves, so maybe Sheamus, but those three are just maybes. I want to save my money for the Ninjago movie sets.

The Friends supermarket is one of the GOAT sets for food pieces. The Elves Magical Marketplace has a lot of neat stuff in it with a library and blacksmith shop as well as the food market. I don't know how people can say it's a bad wave with Rocket boy, retro spaceman, 90's guy, meme corn man, elf warrior and three shirtless muscular men.
