That Drift isn't 3P. It's officially licensed.

Looks good, but

>non-transforming Transformer

Right into the dumpster it goes. If I wanted regular action figures I'd go buy some figma and revoltechs (and I do). I want transformers because they turn into stuff. I don't care if what they turn into is some nonsensical fucking cybertronian vehicle, I've bought guys that turn into fucking boxes that don't do shit (Soundwave, Blaster), and guys that turn into a fucking chair for fucks sake.

Yes but we talk about it here because no one in the official thread likes it or cares. Plus technically it IS a true official third party toy.

Babby shockwave is pretty nice. I wish he had an ab crunch but aside from that, he does what a shockwave needs to do. I love the shade of purple, his lightpiping works well even if I'd prefer yellow, and the hose seems to be implemented pretty well.

All told though, I think I sort of prefer the combiner wars one. I just wish I could find the little bastard to properly compare them.

Babby starscream, I'm less down with. He seems to suffer much more from parts colliding, and he really could have used double knees more than bridge watcher. Like, he's better than the generations one, but this is one of those times where you really have to ask if he's 4x the price better.

So yeah, I bought this guy, but I didn't blog about him. He's my first big 3P purchase, and I like him, but not as much as I'd hoped. He looks great, but he's a bit... inelegant? Like he's more the equal of MP-01 than MP-10, that's for sure. The ratchet increments in his legs make some poses weird, and he's a bit top-heavy. I had to do some tab-shaving to get some of his panels to clip properly, and all of his fingers are loose, but it doesn't really matter. Paint apps are great all over, except for the hood where the red/black gradient is misaligned from left to right. Kind of noticeable, but doesn't ruin the overall presentation. He looks great in both modes though, and Takara will probably never touch a G2 Laser Prime at this level, so I don't regret it, but for 100 bucks, it seems a bit crude.

I'm hesitant to invest more in 3P, but Takara's official products are really bringing me down as of late. PotP looks a bit trashy, and the MPs have gone full retard. I've got FT's silver Grinder on order for next month, and that's a whopping 200 clams. I just hope he's half as good as people say he is.

So seriously, how are these guys? I bought the three-pack of Prowl/Streak/Smokescreen and I was pretty underwhelmed. They looked and posed great, but their transformations were lame, and their alt. modes were basically just a pile of robot parts on some wheels could barely roll. Some people buy purely for bot modes, but I'm a "whole package" kind of guy. I appreciate some compromise toward balance.

My favorite thing about them ended up being the tiny armory they came with.

I don't know how you're not completely impressed by Laser Prime there. He's better than the majority of MP's, and definitely better than MP-10, let alone the trash pile that is MP1 compared to stuff being produced today. I think maybe you hyped yourself up too much and expected the world, rather than just an incredibly solid, well articulated toy, for less than the cost of an MP.
>>
>>6446719
this is just plain ugly

their Drift looks amazing, why are Tarn and Optimus so shit?
>>
>>6446701
>but I'm a "whole package" kind of guy.

Heres the thing with IF stuff: They have cybertronian alt modes almost through the entire range, based on either IDW, War Within, or FoC/WFC. Mostly IDW or War Within. Atop that, they definitely focus more on 'bot mode than vehicle modes.

tl;dr I think you might be expecting the wrong thing for these figures. Or they're just not the ones for you. But IF stuff on the whole is pretty damn good.
>>
>>6446685

Because you have some kind of magical idea of what the fuck his mask is supposed to look like in his head, based on 2D images in a comic book that change in dimension and curvature from panel to panel because comic.

Thats why. It's you, not the sculpts. You want something that can't actually exist as you see it in the comics because how it looks varies from panel to panel and some of the poses it's in literally cannot happen unless the very mask itself reshapes on a whim. Which it most certainly will not in a physical, 3D object.
>>
>>6446762
bullshit
it just needs to look like the cover of mtmte #7, that's literally all it needs to do to look good, many amateur 3D modelers have nailed the mask already

It's still better than Kultur. I think the main issue is that the design is hard to capture in such a small scale as a mass produced toy. Only time I've seen detail that sharp and layered in such a small scale is in gunpla model kits.
>>
>>6446685
It's clearly stylized to the sculptor. It may also be a Hasbro mandate thing that it can't be too accurate. All licensed figures aren't based on an explicit depiction from media, so they might have to make do with their restrictions.
>>
>>6446813
>It may also be a Hasbro mandate thing that it can't be too accurate.

>>
>>6446719
its like he's wearing a diaper but it's sliding off
>>
>>6446824
Not that I know of. It's just a guess based on official licensed figures. 3A and Sentinel do heavily stylized non-transforming figs only. Hot toys is the closest design to the G1 and even then there's some sharp differences on top of the Starscream and Megatron corpse parts. Only the Movie based ones are incredibly accurate, but that's because Paramount has co-ownership of the designs (Hence why Funko made Pops of the movie characters.)

Reporting in after yesterday where I mentioned some scumbag on eBay was probably trying to scam me on FT-10 Phoenix. I've started a dispute to get my money back so that's fine. Just gonna buy from ShowZ instead.

I assume ShowZ's website is totally fine? Any problems I should be aware of? And what's the "Remark" section in checkout? I'm wondering if I can put a request in there for them to mark the package with a lower value/as a gift just to avoid any potential import taxes.

Oh, and for reference, I apparently glossed over the first few entries, but this is the negative feedback on the eBay seller I mentioned:

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=huiziwang2014&iid=272741974467&de=off&items=25&searchInterval=30&which=negative&interval=365&_trkparms=negative_365

As you can see, despite their feedback percentage etc., they've pulled this shit multiple times before. Asshole. He hasn't responded to me for over a day since he asked me to pay him $69 more, so the dispute is staying until I get my money back.

Just thought some anons would like to know which chink to avoid.

>>

Depends what you want. MP-scale Dinobots would be GigaPower and FansToys. FansToys' Scoria (Slag) is pretty shite though. It honestly depends on what you want.

For me, I prefer GigaPower. You can't really go wrong with either of them though. Watch reviews on YouTube, read feedback threads etc.

>>6447322
The prices aren't THAT bad compared to when they came out and what for, and keep in mind that Wei Jiang knock shit off so 99% of their work is already done, hence why knock-offs are dirt-cheap to begin with.

So which is the better Legends scale Seeker mold, the DX9 or the Iron Factory? DX9 looks more GEEWUN but Iron Factory's stuff is stellar from what I understand. I own their Windblade and whilst it suffers from a few slightly loose joints (easily fixed) and some paint errors, it's a great little toy.
>>
>>6447360
Thundercracker and Skywarp come with the limbs for ghost 'scream and Sunstorm. Starscream includes the ghost torso and I believe the torso for Sunstorm comes with their conehead set. Here's hoping Acidstorm is split between the three Bruticus sets!
>>
>>6447479
It depends on your aesthetic taste, I only have the iron factory starscream and I love it. I think the iron factory one has the better robot mode but the DX9 undoubtedly has a more believable jet mode. Iron factory also comes with more accessories.

>>

Different Anon here, this is kind of bullshit I agree. Now if you want Ghost Starscream, or Sunstorm, you need to:

Buy 2-3 packs at $40 a pop and buy a set pack for $90 atop that. All to get 1 or two figures.

If you DON'T want either of those, now you're getting dinged $10 extra per original Seeker, because they cost $10 more per figure than the Coneheads do.

If you wanted them all, I guess that means you end up with 2 bonus figures you may or may not care about.

Either way it's kind of bullshit, unless you wanted all of them+the coneheads. Thats the only way this whole thing maths out to something resembling "acceptable".

Get Grinder my dude. A lot better than MP08''s dated mold.
>>
>>6446734
MP 10 is far more graceful, has a better transformation, better QC, and definitely a better alt mode, especially given how much more complex it is. Gunfighter doesn't even make an attempt to hide the arms or feet. I'm not saying it looks bad, but they clearly weren't aiming very high, and they still stumbled a bit.
>>
If any of you wanted the Yellow Rally he's only available at PSX right now. Ages3andUp sold out within a few hours last night.

>>6447860
Fanshobby is really about making simple and fun transforming figures with nice accents and a little bit of flair. Nothing they have done is particularly complicated so can understand why you'd want something more complex. I still haven't bought anything of theirs but I might cave on flypro. He just looks like a lot of fun.
>>
>>6447739
Absolutely this.

Grinder is superior in every way EXCEPT subjectively the dino head. It's a great head but it's not TOTALLY G1 accurate, HOWEVER if that IS important to you, FT has a more accurate dino head replacement coming soon.

Either way, it's still overall the superior figure. Articulation is a bit better, it's in scale with current MPs, sturdier, similar transformation but with small tweaks like having plates to cover the entire inner legs which makes his bot mode's aesthetic significantly better, and he has fewer hollow bits. Take the toes, for instance. MP and Reximus have hollow dino toes whereas Grinders are completely solid. Even more obvious is the inner detailing on the "wings". The original MP mold's "wings" are much less detailed and what details that are there don't look as much like details as they do the underside of a mold. Ginder's "wings" are each two pieces sandwiched together so the details on the inside look just as fleshed out as the details on the outside.

Basically, go for Grinder. He's just so much better.
>>
>>6447885
All the review samples that have gone out for him really are driving up my anticipation (I already have the first two). As always, promo code ECBUY2 should net $10 off when you buy directly from them -- valid through August 31st. If you go whole hog, FH15OFF is 15% off a purchase of $250 or more (cannot be combined with the other one). Wish that I had had these before I placed my order, rather than getting them with my first shipments, but that's just the way things go sometimes.
>>
>>6446791
I'll agree that the actual mp is pretty great. He's the subject of a lot of ridicule because he's very small and was very expensive if you got cucked by bbts or tfsource, but he's a damn great figure. I also recall people got mad over his alt mode being realistic instead of cartoony.

I highly recommend G2 Bee. Bling as fuck, and if you don't care about Spike in the exosuit, the jet pack is a better accessory.
>>

I mean honestly to me as someone who collects a lot of legends scale that Soundwave is just big. I guess you could argue that the thighs and waste are a little thinner which may not be to your personal taste but I'd hardly call that "completely fucked up", not to mention I have no idea what your complaint with the arms is. Are you sure you're not just looking at pictures where they forgot to collapse the forearms or something?

Either way, I'd still say slightly off proportions are more than a fair trade-off for the overall better finish. Like I said, the MP Grimlock mold's inner legs look like a total mess with all of the visible tail bits folded in there and the wings look so cheap from the inside. Also, I should mention that Grinder just kinda photographs oddly in robot mode. For the longest time, I also didn't like his proportions and something seemed off but I just decided to bite the bullet anyway because of the aforementioned extra finish and he looks a lot better in person. Proportions look completely normal in person.

It's ultimately your money so it's your call but I'd still recommend giving Grinder a chance instead of tracking down Reximus Prime.
>>
>>6448301
The only thing I'm disapointed in with this kit is that I would have liked to have some kind of clip or something to attach to the trailer so that it would both be able to connect more securely and also hide the gaping screw hole.

It's really a complete non-issue, but still
>>
>>6448320

>>6448654
MP-08 looks cheap and outdated without comparison.

I keep hearing this same praise for Grinder. It had better not be just one shill, spamming it over and over...
>>
>>6448812

The problem with praising Grinder is that he isn't something new. He isn't something Takara hasn't done. His transformation hasn't really changed, because it was already pretty great.

So there isn't really much to say about him other than he's Grimlock perfected. He's not as exciting as other 3P figures, but that doesn't make him not great.
>>
>>6448054
>IF is always tight joints, the only joint that is dangerously tight is his thigh swivel. his hip join feels like a hard brittle, and I worry about the torque on it

Got my IF Shockwave today and I noticed that the thigh swivels are so tight they might as well be glued together, I can't get them to move at all. And I also noticed the plastic feels brittle and slightly chalky? This guy is my first Iron Factory figure so I wasn't sure if this is normal or not but honestly I'm disappointed. I can't use the thigh swivels, the leg pieces pop open everytime I bend the legs and overall he feels oddly cheap in hand.

I think you just got a bum copy, sorry to hear that.

Alright, I've fiddled with my massive order enough that I'm ready to offer up some opinions.

>Ultimate Commander/SG Optimus/God Ginrai
Looks the best out of all of them.
Wish he had forward rotation on his legs for the super mode
Leg armor could peg in more solidly
Other wise fantastic figure

>City Commander/Magnus
ALL THE GUN
Clean robot and vehicle modes for the most part
Wish the rear of the vehicle mode tabbed together better, also it's a pain to get everything to line up properly so that the vehicle sits level

>Shadow Tengu/Sixshot
Whoever designed these fucking shoulder joints to be on a swivel for transformation at theis scale with no way to lock them in place deserves to be shot
Great in most modes, gun mode is meh
Would be perfect in bot mode if it wasn't for those GODDAMN SHOULDER SWIVELS KEEP ROTATING WHEN I JUST WANT TO MOVE THE GODDAMN ARM

>Soul Reaper/Sky Shadow
Looks fucking fantastic, great bot mode
Okay vehicle mode but tabbing the wings in can be a bit tricky.
Great colors, great personality, great toy. Don't know anything about Sky Shadow but hey.

>Pink Assassin/Arcee
It's cute, I guess. Definitely shows itself as an early release
Transformation is practically non existent
Good thing she came with a stand because it's hard as balls to get her to stand on her own.
Uguu~

>Bridge Watcher/Shockwave
Fortunately avoided any real issues with mine
Looks great, feels great
Gun mode will have to be a submarine mode until I get something to hold him

>Lord Scorpion/Scorponok
Some how a better base mode in legends scale than any official release of the past decade
Big, beefy and full of gun
Scorpion mode is adorable
Tolerances are super tight on the turrets, worried about stress marks

>Tyrants Wings Red/Starscream
Great in both modes, love the tiny coronation gear
Transformation is sketch because tolerances with the wing pack folding down
Popped a panel off the back but got it back in

Nope didn't work, but it did make the hips softer and I was momentarily worried they would sheer right off.
But yeah I am not impressed with this guy at all, thighs swivels won't budge, backpack wont peg in without serious aligning and brute force. I'm kinda tempted to just return him at this point since I have the CW Shockwave.

Same here. I was dissapointed at first with the reveal. But after biting the bullet the figure was better than I expected. It is the best build FT Dinobot. But it isn't the most exciting figure because it doesn't feel like something new but rather an improvement of something we already had.

Some of us would like super accurate versions of the character that we can pose like a figuart or revo that isn't sacrificing design accuracy so that it can still transform. There are a few of us who actually want that believe it or not (I know it's difficult).

I got him from HLJ and considering he comes with a transforming Spike, I think it was well worth it, personally. Cheaper than the other Autobot cars, for starters.

The G2 version's jetpack is kind of crappy. He arguably looks nicer (I personally prefer the G1 version but that's just me), but he's about the same price (maybe a little less) and without Spike. I'd say it's down to personal preference though.

>Transformation is practically non existent
Make sure you're transforming it with the weapons (especially the gun) stored so that it tabs everything together properly. Otherwise the transformation for the legs is kinda pointless.

But I assume you know all of this already.

>Good thing she came with a stand because it's hard as balls to get her to stand on her own.
It's tricky but once you get the hang of it, it can be done very easily.

Also, it's a bit tight so be careful doing this but you can store her weapons on the pegs of her wings. I had to ease the gun on very gradually. The swords were a bit easier to peg in but still tough. But now they go on easier. Not super-easy but firmly, and it makes for decent storage.

>You're simply more forgiving with Grinder because it isn't an official figure.
I'm not "forgiving" anything though. I genuinely like Grinder's proportions. I said they look a little off in a lot of photos but they don't in hand. I only brought up them looking thin because that was the primary complaint I've seen about him when folks first saw him. I still don't exactly understand why you think Grinder looks like shit because you still won't articulate what exactly is wrong with him aside from vague statements like "completely fucked up" but I guess it doesn't matter as you've made up your mind on this so there's no further point in trying to convince you. If you really want Reximus, then I wish you luck and hope you find one at a good price.
>>
>>6449547
>I can't understand how paint can make something inherently better
Because paint looks nicer than bare plastic, despite the memes people are trying to propagate. Paint allows for richer colors, nicer looking mattes, and vibrant gloss. Yes, plastic doesn't always have to look as cheap has Hasbro's retail-level shit, but a good paint job always looks better than even the nicest plastic.

>>
>>6449851

Yeah, and that dildo was called G1 Transformers, all of whom ended up floppy rusted pieces of shit if there was diecast in them. When will you mongoloid fucks just accept that diecast is a garbage metal that has little to no actual use except as a filler material and as a "premium" for unaware toy buys who wrongly equate "hurr weight=expensive"?

Prime is so forgettable its no surprise no 3Ps ever took to it; even animated can't get 3P traction, and BW 3Ps are mostly heavily reworked to appeal more to G1 fans. I doubt we'll ever see faithful Prime 3Ps because the market just isn't there.

Arms are too long, yes even when collapsed, it's not a matter of opinion, they are too long according to the source, according to the humanoid proportions most bots have, especially the rest of the team, and according to pretty much every single aesthetics convention ever. The waist is so thin it looks like someone slapped two figures from different sizes together. I also forgot to talk about how wrong the lower legs look like. Finally, no, there's no point trying to convince me of anything, I simply asked where to buy. It's amazing how hard it is to get a simple valid answer from people here.

My Susanoo sure didn't make a good case for metal. Those mushy details, mismatched colors, and poor tolerances brought the figure down. Doesn't help that typical plastic tightening methods won't work on diecast, meaning his floppy ankles would be a regular problem. What's worse is it's not even as bad as the giant loose metal butt flap.

Don't even get me started on PE Leo Prime's flakey tolerences due to diecast.

Joints like FT Phoenix and MP Shockwave are perfect uses of die cast, if you ask me. That doesn't include Shockwave's feet, of course, which I don't like (and I know many others don't), though I appreciate that most of the soles are plastic rather than all diecast like with Soundwave (that fucking paint-chipping on Soundwave is legitimately sad).
>>
>>6450219
If you don't ever buy official merchandise, you're not supporting a brand that, should it not get enough support long-term, could die out. Then eventually, we run out of source material to pull from. And granted, that'll take a while, but still, if there is a shrinking audience, third parties are going to go away.

I'm not against buying third-party products or even, in some cases at least, KOs, but at least buy an official toy every now and then to still support the brand.
>>
>>6450742
The only thing I wish they did differently is the hands - I wish they had given us some solid purple hands rather than them ALL being translucent. Basically, like the official one did (except without the extra transparent ones being for the side that doesn't have the fucking light in it).

But it's a minor nitpick because otherwise, he looks amazing and I want him.

Unfortunately, I'm poor so I can only buy so much right now.
>>
>>6451334
Fair enough I guess. I'm not exactly sure what his condition is but it seems to be something to do with one of his legs that restricts him to a wheelchair but he still seems to be able to stand...? I'm not sure.

But yeah, okay, those are fair points, though to be honest, I think his biggest draw are the KOs since he is one of the few that reviews so many of them.

You're right about SirToys though. I love how he's always unboxing stuff from them and yet he'll have entire comments sections of "fuck SirToys, these guys are scammers and dickheads" etc.

I really don't like how Ginrai attaches either but that's just me. I think he sticks out far too much in robot mode, and I honestly think it would have been better if they went for the engineering of the original toy but with more articulation, because that thing was a brick but a damn good brick.

And on a more subjective note, I think plastic looks better than something dipped in paint. Look at MMC's Overlord, or their Predaking. Fucking gorgeous figures, vibrant colors, and they're not dipped in head to toe with paint. Look at TFC's Seacon's, they look amazing, minimal paint at best. MP-10, once again, amazing and minimal paint. Etc.

I think that came mostly from Armada vs Micron Legend where Hasbro didn't fully paint the faction insignias and early Alternators vs Binaltech where...just look at this pic. >It's rarely done properly, at all.
Most MPs, especially the autobot cars. All the datsuns and lambos. Wheeljack only has it for his racing stripes, but it looks great. Tracks is glorious with his metallic blue. MP Ironhide in particular has some amazingly vibrant paint, and a lot of friction, but no scratching. Shame the same can't be said for Ratchet, but that does prove that the particular application and quality of the paint has a lot to do with whether or not it scratches. MP Artfire is pretty much painted from head to toe and looks gorgeous for it, and I've transformed him a hundred times with nary a scratch. Oh, and fucking MP Nemesis Prime's gloss-black paint job is pure sex, he wouldn't be the same without it. And quite honestly, Takara's Legends line. The paint on them is so fucking durable. There are parts on LG Brainstorm that I've TRIED to scratch just for shits, and can't.
> MP-10, once again, amazing and minimal paint
The Hasbro version. And honestly it looks like shit compared to the Takara version, which IS mostly painted. It's got red paint over red plastic on most outward-facing surfaces. I got the Hasbro version from TRU many a year ago, and always thought it looked cheap and out-of-place next to my other MPs, which were all imported and all had full-body paint jobs. (Prowl, Sideswipe, etc.) Then I picked up a Takara re-issue with some spare cash and it was a world of difference.

Paint is great, and people never used to have an issue with it, and typically wanted to have more of it on their figures. I find it's only been the past year or two, when MP Ratchet started scratching itself to shit, and then later, of course, MP Megatron with it's clusterfuck transformation, and now suddenly people are clamoring for paint to be banned from every figure, when in the past, nobody had an issue with extensive paint jobs. Nobody looked at MP Prowl and said "Reeeee! It's DIPPED IN PAINT! It's SHIT!"

God, fuck off.

Also, Dinobots look better in silver. Fuck accuracy. Look at how much more the detail pops on pic related. Also, their color has nothing to do with whether or not they're painted. Almost every Grimlock is cast in this awful, cheap, gray, swirly plastic that is painful to look at. They should either use higher-quality shit (like the gray plastic on FH Gunfighter, which is pretty smooth looking) or fucking paint it. Most of the Dinobots have such simple transformations that they would make pretty decent candidates for an all-over paint job.

And since you're an accuracy-fag, take a look here >>6450944, the shading on Grimlock's gray parts clearly indicates a kind of metallic sheen, so a semi-gloss gray paint job on a Grimlock would be both accurate AND look better than the milky, flat, garbage plastic he's usually cast in.

>He's boring to listen to. He talks for AGES.
This seems to be a problem with a lot of Japanese reviewers from what I've seen. I don't speak Japanese either so I don't know exactly what they're saying but they have a bad habit of just focusing on one particular thing for fucking ever and showing it off 20 different ways before moving on to something else. Perfect example is when he's covering how the original Titan Master port and helmet integrate with the figure. He could just describe it while he shows off what it looks like and how it works but instead he just holds the figure there, looking at the piece in question, talking and talking and talking and talking before finally actually putting the part onto the new figure. Then he does the same shit as he shows off what it looks like and the limitations of it, just has the camera pointed at the part and talks forever, then he shows it off 20 times and just keeps talking about it.

How hard is it to just say "yeah, you can take the original HasTak head and stick it on here like this. It works but it limits the turning radius thanks to these hinges and it needs to be flexed to transform it like so..", all while showing this as he describes it.

Wotafa does this kinda shit to. He's not AS bad about it and he's at least energetic when he speaks so it's less of a chore to sit through but he still does it and it makes the reviews drag longer than they need to.

I get that part of the problem is I don't know Japanese so that adds to the frustration of having to sit through it or try to skip around but it still seems like poor form to do that in the first place and I'd have just as little tolerance for it if an English speaking reviewer did the same thing.

Full body paint should only be used if you're going for a color that can't be pulled off with the base plastic, like if you need a certain part to be full metallic colored. Just painting a red plastic piece red again adds fucking nothing and adds to the risk of paint scratching with no real benefit, since the plastic underneath is still going to look noticeably different than the paint. Paint should primarily be used for picking out details or if you need something to be metallic and since you're compairing the supposed night and day difference between Hasbro MP10 and Takara MP10, Takara doesn't pick out any more details than the Hasbro version does. Neither one paints all of the tech detailing on the blue plastic leg flaps that cover the wheels in bot mode. Neither one paints the visible pistons on the backs of the legs or bothered to paint the thighs silver. THOSE are the types of things that matter in the paintwork of a figure.

I think paint is great to have on a figure just as much as the next guy but it's not the amount of paint that makes the difference, it's what you use it for. Just coating the figure in paint for the sake of coating it in paint when the base plastic color already gets the job done is not only redundant, but it's risky and just serves to drive the price up with little benefit.

Sort of agree. I'd rather see them in metallic gray than flat but I think full on silver is too bright unless you're going for the full comic style team (which while I love the gaudy comic version of FT Grinder, it still bothers me that they chose black plastic over the dark blue like literally every other comic representation of Grimlock used). The point is that the Dinobots need to at least have a darker gray on them to help offset the bright chrome. I too would have preferred it to at least be metallic but I still prefer what we got to full on bright as fuck silver

Of what is out, Planet X's FOC starscream or any of the three legends ones (IF did IDW, DX9 made G1, Shapeshift did FOC) MMC's Hearts of Steel ain't bad either, just older and more fragile.

Of what is coming? Probably the Galaxy Screamer you're looking at. The test shots look impeccable.

>showed some tab problems on the legs, they look and sound horrifying
I haven't had any issues. Im not a fan of skull face. The shit he complains about is so petty sometimes.

Planet X's is expensive, but I love him so much.
>>
>>6453764
Skywarp and Thundercracker are supposed to cost less

>>6453687
He really does. I've always loved Motermaster's look so I may honestly pick him up as a standalone.

>thinking that accuracy to a shitty, 30-year-old cartoon and toyline is somehow objectively good
I was hoping to leave this stupid mentality behind in the /tfg/ threads. Blinglock is based as fuck. Can't wait for him next month. First big 3P purchase and my first Grimlock. I'm psyched.

I don't think any of the current third-party offerings look good at all though, and I'm not in the US so Japanese figures are cheaper for me to import than buying the Hasbro versions. So, you know, deal with it...?
>>
>>6453028
I would... if I wasn't broke. Someone buy me one and I'll suck your dick (disclaimer: no homo; probably won't actually suck your dick).

Give it up you stupid fucking cuck. No one likes you.

Yeah but they didn't use paint on EVERYTHING and not on joints and such.

Even then, some of my older MPs have minor paint chips and I've been very careful with them.

As much as I love all the newer Masterpieces too, the chipping is a fucking disaster. Inferno and Grapple are a mess, Ratchet is white plastic painted white and I've barely touched mine but it has huge chips all over it already (and both my Ratchet and Inferno had paint sticking out of the box)...

Look at MP Star Saber - minimal paint but he's still gorgeous and they did a damn good job with him (except for the hands and the elbows, but anyway).

>>6453166
Pretty much just this. Dunno why I wasted my time but yeah. The paint on the current MPs IS very pretty... until it chips off.

I agree. Accuracy-fags are fucking whiney as shit, and yet most of them get butthurt over TakaraTomy's hardcore accuracy thing. They're like "NO, I WANT IT TO BE SHOW-ACCURATE BUT WITH MORE DETAIL!" or some fucking nonsense. Like, make up your goddamn mind, you double-standard fuckheads.

But I also agree with >>6453653 that I prefer more of metallic grey than straight-up silver. Still, fuck that dull, unpainted plastic.

What's the best place to keep in the loop (other than this thread)? I want to put some money aside in advance this time and not have the flash sale drop on a day I have no fucking money like last time.

I know some Japanese but I can listen to someone like Wotafa and even understand a decent amount of what he's saying (even when I don't understand the actual words, because he's fairly good with physical communication too) whereas some of the others just bore me and I stop paying attention.

But yeah, I agree with you overall, anon.

And there ARE English-speaking reviewers who do it too. I tried to watch a Chefatron review for the first time yesterday and I just gave up halfway through because he rambled and talked about pointless shit for way too long.

There are others like him too.

>MP Ironhide in particular has some amazingly vibrant paint, and a lot of friction, but no scratching.
Maybe not yours but other people have had problems with Ironhide. The chipping on mine is minor at best.
Ratchet's a disaster though. And he's white underneath. And he has red plastic parts but they used white plastic for the waist and then painted it red. Someone give TakaraTomy a fucking medal for that genius idea. And this is coming from someone who loves the official MPs through and through.
>MP Artfire is pretty much painted from head to toe and looks gorgeous for it, and I've transformed him a hundred times with nary a scratch.
I don't have Artfire but I have Inferno and Grapple and I frankly don't believe you. Artfire and Grapple had paint chips new out of the box, let alone paint sticking and more paint chips over time from only minimal transformations.

Inferno's head gun thing scratches the paint for one of two reasons:
The pin is pushed too far in which scratches the paint.
If it wasn't painted, you'd have a layer of thickness less which likely would be enough to stop the pin scratching the figure.
I'm not sure if Artfire still has this problem but Inferno certainly does and unless you know how to fix this when you first transform it (which isn't super-easy - you'd need to heat up the pin and gently push it out a bit with a flat blade, praying you don't melt something in the process with the heat you'll need), you WILL scratch Inferno.
>Paint is great, and people never used to have an issue with it... Nobody looked at MP Prowl and said "Reeeee! It's DIPPED IN PAINT! It's SHIT!"
Except Prowl doesn't have paint all over the joints and all the inner workings like Inferno/Grapple/Ironhide/Ratchet do. My Datsuns actually DO have some paint chipping (mainly Prowl and Smokescreen, not Bluestreak) and I've carefully touched Smokescreen.
The problem is that they're putting paint on almost every part of a figure at this point.
