So was there any release date for this? Will it be cheaper than the original, or are they gonna screw us on the price of nothing more than a deco change with some addons that they've more than recouped their money on for sure by now from the originals alone?
>>
>>6422328
the old 3P market was just as stagnant, at least now there's potential for stuff out of nowhere.
>>
>>6422331
because having a bunch of MP and legends shit slapped in with CHUG stuff looks terrible on a display.
>>
>>6422331
>Why do people care so much about size?

One word: Space. Personally, I live in a tiny, shitty apartment. I can't even put shelving up on the walls per the renters agreements. So I'm stuck with some book shelves or whatever I can bring on in. Other people have limited space, even if they own a house: Children, spouses, etc, all demand their own spots for things, and you can't just line a wall with a hundred 'bots when 2-5 of them take up an entire shelf unless you put them in stock, legs straight, arms at side, boring shit poses, when everything is fuckhuge MP sized stuff.

>>6422328
>TLK Voyager Megatron and Optimus would be perfect with new heads that had optional masks and wrist jointed arms.

Fuck I hope they're at least solid. Thats all they need to do. Not crumble, or break. But of course

>XTB is just KFC under a different logo
>and $40

The plastic will be made of fucking wafers, won't it? It'll literally dissolve under a droplet of water.
>>
>>6422349
KFC has been improving but this being their first combiner makes things even more worrisome. I love what DX9 is doing with theirs so far but, feel like the individual figures will be too big. Or maybe the Takara cars are too small.

As someone who doesn't collect MP scale this was kinda boring, but I can at least appreciate the non-cartoon accurate 3PMPs. Legends stuff is cool shit, but I don't have any of them asides from Iron Factory's Scorponok. Bruticus looks tempting though.

The lack of variety though is a problem though. Outside of MMC no one's really doing non MP/Legends stuff anymore, and even then there's the lack of non-G1/Comics content out there. Sure we're getting Generation Toy's Baeast line and Maketoy's Galaxy Force Starscream, but there's still jack shit out there. Where's the love for weird shit like G2, RID, and the Unicron Trilogy?
>>

Man, I don't mind the MP scale too much but fuck Weijiang's 'only fuck hueg figures that can't scale with anything but themselves lol' mentality

I'm just super happy for the FT/PF Cyclonus. Those accessories are awesome and he looks pretty much perfect.

The MMC DJD pet is neat and so are their bigger cassettebots, but eh.

TFC Abominus could be good if he's like their seacons. But I only like a couple of them and don't have much interest in the combiner itself, unlike how I feel about Pirhanacon

>Being THIS contrarian
Most agree that Classics Prime is still one of the best looking iterations of him even despite his kibble. It shows it's age, sure, but it still holds up reasonably well. Hell, even among third party collectors, there are still plenty of people who like this guy as well as other HasTak offerings as well as or even better than some of their third party counterparts (Springer comes to mind). Honestly, aside from the arm kibble and lack of ankle rockers, you can't even say he's poorly articulated seeing as how there are still plenty of highly regarded MP scale third party figures being released to this day that can only pull of 90 degree elbow/knee bends and folks are still totally cool with that.

Hasbro may be fucking trash now because of their insistence on cheap plastic, shit QC, and oftentimes oversimplified engineering for $16+ a pop but there was a time when they did good work and Classics Prime was from that time.

don't sweat it. You'll find that companies are often all the same group at the end of the day. Right now their are rumors that Toyworld is also behind the BB7/Yes-Model KO company but we have heard nothing about that officially. Buy what you like, it's just good to know who is who if you need to contact the company (not the seller) for parts. 9/10 times though your seller will have spares.
>>
>>6422693
Is that true? I assumed it was shared designers. Like Mech Ideas and MMC.

More speculations
Generation Toy is Warbotron?
KFC is iGear?
>>
>>6422311
Oh shit, these have my attention. How is GT's shit other than their combiners?
>>
>>6422702
KFC is not iGear.

iGear was their own company and they died out. The same owner then started Toyworld which is now dying. The guy is a douchebag.

Generation Toy is 100% Warbotron though.

I watch almost all of Skullface's reviews, and over time he talks a little here and there about companies because many send him stuff directly. He lets slip who is who else sometimes.
>>
>>6422702

>>
>>6422709
Yeah, shared designers. Is it the same owner though?
>>
>>6422698
but the figure in question is a convention exclusive, would they really make spare parts for it?
>>
>>6422694

Sorry to hear you've having problems, but contact MMC right away. Ocular Max is a label under MMC for their more traditional MP line, by the way.

>>6422707
>I watch almost all of Skullface's reviews, and over time he talks a little here and there about companies because many send him stuff directly. He lets slip who is who else sometimes.

Quite a few people who talk about 3P's have singled out that a lot of these companies are owned by the same people. And it makes sense, how many rich as fuck, factory dealing/owning people who want to make "knockoff" Transformers can there be? Because this stuff takes serious cash. Molds are retardedly expensive, and quality plastic/paint/big parts counts/etc eat up money, as does bribing factories to not fuck your product up because the factory sabotaging your product is a massive problem in asian countries.

This last year I've started collecting a decent amount of 3P Transformers but one thing I'm finding is they don't have enough extras, specifically weapons.

Is there anywhere that focuses on selling third party weapons for masterpiece and chug scale figures? I just want lots of guns for my Transformers.
>>
I do love me some Beasties, and these designs look very imaginative.

I've been focusing on building a Master Force collection tho, and with four of the Godmaster getting 3P toys in the next year or so, including the two largest, I'll probably be using my toy budget for those. Especially if I decide to double dip and grab a few of the TR/PotP Master Force characters as well.

I mean transformers are already an absurd concept as it is. It's also not like the ability to transform is inherently for the sake of disguise seeing as there's no reason for them to hide on their own planet. Plus, beast-formers just exist on Cybertron with characters like the Predacons and Seacons do really, what makes these more nonsensical than any of the already existing characters?

Just take them for what they are. Cool looking beast bots that transform into cool looking robots. Trying to factor logic into an already illogical franchise is pretty pointless.

Interesting hypothesis, considering Unique Toys already has Allen. And BBTS has Allen for a re-stock pre-order for $60.
>>
>>6423869
The plastic quality is exactly like Unique toys to be honest. From how matte and grainy it is to how thick it feels. As for aesthetics it has the Maketoys face and the general feel of their stylized transformation that is not stupidly hard but has a lot of folding parts still.

>>
>>6423833

>>
>>6423918
Hasblow realized that people will pay stupid value for their plastic crack also the added tooling doesn't help I guess.
>>
>>6423918

Economy in Japan went right down the shitter. Everything got more expensive. Figma's jumped from accessory laden $40 figures to $90 figures that you're lucky you get extra hands with, nevermind actual accessories, for example. Only ones who've kept prices somewhat reasonable has been SHF and sometimes Revoltech.
>>
>>6423918
>needlessly complex to achieve much perfect proportions
>include a metric shitton of boxwarming accessories
>douse everything in paint
>brand markup

I'm exceptionally frustrated by the paint part, though, considering Takara doesn't design their clearances with paint in mind at all. I can say with complete certainty that MP Sunstreaker won't survive a single transformation without shedding yellow flakes like a cat

>>
>>6423934
>douse everything in paint
Still don't understand this retarded fear of paint. MPs were always "doused in paint" to the same degree, more or less. The paint isn't the problem, it's that Takara is cheaping out on it and the engineering is a clusterfuck. Although recently I got Artfire. He's covered in paint, he's gorgeous, and his clearances are perfect. I transform him all the time and nary a scratch on him.

Even figures like Ironhide are pretty intricate, but the paint on mine is still in top shape. On the flip side, I've heard that Ratchet scratches his own paint to shit pretty quickly. It all goes to show that Takara just needs to use better paint. Unpainted plastic is ugly as fuck. Paint is part of what makes MP releases look good. That's why Laserwave looks like cheap garbage.
>>
>>6423846
That's trash. Partly because of the retarded cartoon accuracy, and partly because of the terrible face. Springer works best as non-g1 accurate.
>>
>>6423948
>IP drama
>in China

How is this even an issue? China's IP laws are looser than the average porn star's asshole. A billion dollar company like Hasbro couldn't even be bothered to try anything, what does that artist think he can do?
>>
>>6423958
It's only a problem for me because of how inconsistent Takara is with their paint quality. I absolutely love the look of my Inferno, but my Grapple looks like ass in vehicle mode because Takara's yellow paint is awful and there are a lot of tight hinges in the crane transformation that no longer have paint on them.
>>
>>6423965
Have you handled it personally? As a toy it looks really nice. The face is really the only thing I hate about it besides that I never owned a G1 Springer nor watched the season 3 of the cartoons. My only real encounter of the character is from the 1986 movie and learning about the character from buying the Generations Voyager a while back.

So if you think about it, I'm quite unbiased when I say it is a solid figure. The face even for somebody like me who isn't fully invested about the character's characteristics can tell how shit the face is.

>>6424022
It's a gray area in Japan. But these types of artbooks has the unofficial approval of the rights holders.
>>
>>6423804
To be fair, it's pretty common knowledge at this point why third party figures are so expensive. Smaller companies don't have the access to the same massive factories so they can't produce as many figures to offset the cost of developing them. HasTak does and they stick with simpler engineering, fewer paint apps, and in Hasbro's case, cheaper plastics do they can drop retail prices quite a bit. If third parties were producing figures of the same caliber as Takara TR figures, they'd still probably be double the price.

>>6423833
>It's like Takara's trying to get as expensive as 3Ps
Pretty much because they see us all paying those third party prices and thinking "oh, well if they're willing to pay that much, we must have been undercharging for ours!" That or it's their way of trying to punish us for our disloyalty in buying bootlegs lol

Look at all the whining going on in the Fans Toys Cyclonus thread on TFW that they dared to make him look better than the awful 80's animation and gave him some optional parts for an IDW look.
>>
>>6424122
This. MP-11 is an antique in terms of engineering now. I wouldn't think it hard to do better. That said, MP-11 looks a ton better because it came from a time where toy designers weren't infected by retardation.

Seriously. He looks fucking amazing.

But people in there: he's not tall enough, he's taller than Sovreign but not by ENOUGH. Scalefags, cartoon accuracy fags to the point of nonsense, people bitching about the OPTIONAL IDW parts as if they have to use them.

Too cartoon accurate and shit looks terrible. See: MP Inferno, and likely even that Maketoys Starscream up there. Bunch of bland boxes unfortunately.

Is MMC doing ok? It seems strange that they've been forcing so many remolds of stuff lately. Thunderclash looks basically ok I guess but man their Cyclonus, Rodimus and various others have been average to shit. Is it a money grab thing or is the company having trouble?

5-6 3P figures that aren't shit and look good per year
>Everything else (Movie, Classics, non G1 cartoon MPs...)
40-50 official figures per year
70-80 3P figures per year

And people are STILL bitching about TOO MUCH ACCURACY. This fandom is definitely the worst.

Also to those who think FT/PF is going to make IDW stuff regularly, you're wrong. They simply needed to add some accessories to make it more valuable once they learned their early molds were stolen by KFT.
>>
>>6424428

With an original design you could do something like have parts that unfurl and expand for combined modes and compact down for the other modes to make it appear that a figure is mass shifting. I still want to see an all in one combiner that integrates everything by virtue of being a ground up design made for that purpose. Cross dimensions would be a perfect line for something like that.

Different lines. The Terrorcons were Cybertronians with mechanical monster altmodes. Why were they monsters? No idea. What even was Blot? No fucking idea... a sort-of gorilla, I guess.
There was no suggestion they were supposed to be primordial monsters from Cybertron itself (at least until Beast Hunters).

In any case... Rippersnapper is not a shark. He's an 'amphibious creature' whose head resembles a primordial amphibian, like Tiktaalik.
>>
>>6423728

Kinda lost my train of thought there: Beast Wars is a completely different situation. Maximals are fundamentally different from G1-type Transformers (although how, is never properly explained... it's not just that they're smaller though).
The beast modes were meant to be actual camouflage (or protection from the elements, but in either case, organic in nature... I'd like some more exposure on that), not just a battle mode with different capabilities like the Terrorcons'.

>>6423596

No he doesn't. Goblin sharks have extending jaws. Rippersnapper's head is all jaw. Almost like a crocodile, but more like a labyrinthodon.
>>
>>6423717
>I mean transformers are already an absurd concept as it is.

I respectfully disagree. Mechanical life forms are anything but absurd; I strongly expect them to be the outcome of life on Earth. The transformation is barely outrageous; a space-borne life form would get great use out of the ability to alter capabilities (space ship / landing vehicle/ humanoid).

As for the beast modes... well, that was an artistic choice to fold pre-existing beastformers into Cybertronian storylines. So now the idea is that on prehistoric Cybertron, there were 'dinosaurs'...

I overthink this stuff. Don't mind me. It's a form of mental masturbation.

>It seems that things like images are released with non-genuine transformer toys, but it closely resembles what I drew in doujinshi as a hobby before. I am not a mass product sketch drawn for these non-genuine items. In addition, I did not issue permission, because I am not the copyright holder.

I might be missing the nuance here that gives us full context of what he's trying to say but it almost just sounds like all he's saying is "no, I'm not working with them on this"

I honestly can't tell if he's complaining that they used his work, complaining that third party companies exists and get away with making TF toys, or both but he does seem to point out that he doesn't really have the ability to give permission because he doesn't own the property.

I dunno, I guess he does have a right to be a little mad. It's always a raw deal when somebody uses something you created for profit and you don't get a penny out of it, but at the same time, he's got to know that this is the nature of fan works and regardless, this is still gonna make a lot of people happy and I'd think he's got to at least be a little excited to see his designs put into plastic. Not to mention, he's got to be aware that China don't give a fuck and is effectively immune to copyright claims.

>I dunno, I guess he does have a right to be a little mad. It's always a raw deal when somebody uses something you created for profit and you don't get a penny out of it
This. It's one thing to take Hasbro's designs- it's a huge soulless corporation and the artists that design the stuff for them have already signed away their creative license directly to Hasbro to bastardize well after the artist dies even. Basically: they know what they're in for.
But to take art from some individual without even asking him or telling him? That's shitty. The guy doesn't work for a toy company and probably wasn't aware this stuff went on so I can 100% understand his anger and I feel bad for him.

The worst part is it seems like so many people want those toys that they don't give a shit how he feels and if he continues to complain about them using his designs he's probably gonna get a ton of hate mail and death threats if he isn't already.

This is the kinda shit that makes people quit fandoms and stop drawing altogether.
>>
>>6424904
The really sticky part here is that even if GT DID contact him for permission, gave him formal credit, and/or offered him a cut of the profits, I don't know if he could even accept any of it.

GT operates out of China so they're basically untouchable on copyright claims but if HasTak has somebody within legal reach like a Japanese fan artist, they could easily take him down.

Worse yet is that these designs have been floating around for quite a while now and HasTak HAS to know they exist by now. If HasTak catches wind of the figures, their lawyers could come knocking on the guy's door anyway and he'll have to prove that he has no involvement whatsoever with GT and that they just stole his designs.

His best bet might just be to keep his head down and stay out of it, else it could ruin his whole life. He may as well roll with it and just take the flattery that comes with knowing somebody was willing to make figures out of his work because you know damn well HasTak never would have, especially not at this level of quality because it's not worth getting into a legal battle that he will most certainly lose.

That being said, I'm a shitty person and will most likely be buying the figures anyway because I've been dreaming of seeing those designs get toys. I know the moral thing would be to boycott them and not support such behavior but those figures are too fucking amazing to pass up.
>>
>>6424565
>what even was Blot? No fucking idea... a sort-of gorilla, I guess.
