What's all this about ABS and POM? What's the difference and how does it affect plamo stuff?
>>
>>6413079
ABS and POM plastics are two kinds of durable plastics.

ABS is a common durable plastic that is also used in mechanical keyboard bodies and stuff.

POM is slightly superior in terms of resistance to wear and tear, IIRC, and some of the Chogokin mecha are made of it where they're not made of diecast. Newer FAGs and MDs use more POM joints and peg-parts to reduce breakage.

Time to discuss anatomy.

D size cups and beyond tend to hang on the 6th rib line or lower

Breasts will sag a little after you remove supports, but they don't drop that low unless your size is that big or you're elderly.

A modest breast size stops close to above the 6th rib line, and somewhere above the elbow line, somewhere close to the lower end of the pectoralis major.

I've got some half-baked custom ideas and I was hoping you guys could help me flesh them out.

The main one is slapping this bitch's armor plates onto an Architect to make an armored urban sniper with asymmetrical armor - sort of a modern take on Monster Hunter archer armor, how they have that half skirt thing only armoring up the part of their body that's actually exposed to the enemy. Another one would be using the same idea and same base, but going the the MSG gatling gun instead of a sniper and make her more of a front line tank, but I need some more armor plates for that. I don't think it would look quite right with these plates. But the concept would be similar to a droideka, how she'd be a mobile turret.

And I also want to make a demolitions gal. There's lots of good explosive weapons, but I'm not sure about her armor past wanting to make her bustier and giving her a cigar to smoke. I'm thinking thick, padded front, but I'm not sure how to get that looking right.

And finally, I've been wanting to make a knight using the Frame Arms Durga (or whatever) but that one needs a lot more work before I even consider buying anything.

A word of warning. You might know this already, but the Kagutsuchi only uses the Architect frame in a very loose sense. As in, it re-purposes the torso for its pelvis. Very few if any of the leg armor pieces attach with 3mm pegs. Not only that, but most of the tiled parts are in one piece. With that in mind, and the tiles' simple geometry, I would consider scratch-building the armor instead, as it will probably be less work than the modding you'd have to do.
>>
>>6413904
>>6414127
A sniper's posture is also more... symmetrical? I guess. Which might weaken the aesthetic of asymmetrical armor. A possibility to consider.
First step, figure out what pose your Architect is going to have. That will help with deciding on armor placement.
Mind you, I think this is a great idea. Heavy sniper Architect was already something I wanted to see, so go for it!

Thanks for the tips, I didn't realize they'd be one piece. There are a couple other armor plates I can use in that case. I have a dozen other half completed projects, so I know if I completely scratch build with plasticard and apoxie, there's no way it'll ever get done.

I like this shield. Toss it at an angle on her shoulder, like a mobile lean-to. And I could use some parts from a Tieren Ground Type, but I'm not sure I like the idea of line mixing since there's no way everything's going to be in scale and look good together.

I'm the same guy working on the torture dungeon from last thread. I've been meaning to open an Etsy store for fucking ever, and I might just do it when I finish my amputee parts and stump-caps.

Right now I'm just using oomoo molds and the smooth on stuff that doesn't require outgassing. It doesn't take modeling grade paint too well from what I've been seeing so I might need a real vacuum chamber and real recasting shit if I want to ever sell anything.
>>
>>6413884
Big improvement.
>>
>>6414970

Which isn't taking paint too well, the putty, or the smooth-on resin?

If it's the putty, I've had no problems with it retaining lacquer primer and paint, or even Stynylrez.
>>
>>6415014
The smooth-on resin, yeah. It tends to chip insanely easily no matter what topcoat I use. I think i'ts mostly the primer. I was recommended to use auto-grade primer on it, but that makes small details get lost. I might try another couple brands of topcoat to see, but I'm not totally comfortable selling anything until I get at least one or two good solutions.

>>6414862
nope. At least not the ones I am sure he is referring to, and what 98% of discussion on gundam panel lining is referring to. People forget there is 2 types of panel lining gundam markers, the fine tip pens everyone uses and then ones that are like you said essentially premade panel lining fluid that you just use capillary action to make work. I have no experience with them and have yet to see anyone on /toy/ have much experience either. They ain't easy to find online due to confusing names.
>>
>>6414946
>>6414955
Thanks for the suggestions, is it possible to buy any of these in stores or do they have to be bought online?
>>

1. Wash the resin in warm water and dish soap
2. Use thinned down primer, but model-grade lacquer is good enough
3. Stop spraying in thick coats.

Which fag should I build first? Architect, stilletto, or jinrai?

Is there anything special I should be aware of in advance?
>>
>>6417189
Stylet has the weakest engineering of the three, in particular really bad wrists. She also needs paint if you want color-accuracy on her wings and chestplate.

Architect and Jinrai are basically identical, except Jinrai doesn't have a skirt or the elbow joints that let her connect to mainline Frame Arms forearms. Both are great and my two personal favorite FAGs. Note that while Jinrai doesn't have the elbow parts, she does have the knee parts that have a 3mm peg on them. I found one of her knee plates to be a bit finnicky about staying on, so I swapped both plates for the 3mm ones and attached Energy Shields to them.

If anyone has listened to the minitalk on the Fullscratch Love CD, can you tell what they're saying from 3:20 to 3:35? Here. Hopefully it's clear enough.
There are still nub marks but you would have to be looking for them to notice except for the ones on the back of the legs which are noticeable.
I can't find the proper file to sand them down on my country so I'll have to fix that next time I order something from HLJ.
>>
>>6418087
I used super glue on the cracked landing gear like a retard so now I might have to forsake them or try to get rid of the super glue and put cement in place. I wonder what brands are good, I doubt I'll be able to import any.
BTW it's almost impossible to get my camera to focus on the things, that piece that holds the wheels she has in her heels, and it can't even pick up the cracks no matter how hard I try to focus on them but they are noticeable in hand. I swear on my Stylet's corpse that I didn't hamhand it, I just tried to rotate it and the friction alone made it give in and crack.

Anyone new to building koto kits learn from my idiocy, fuck, add it to the OP if you will, wash your koto runners before starting to cut any part and sand down every hinge and swivel before assembly.

More like TEST the tightness of the swivel/hinge/balljoint before snapping everything close. It must retain a little friction.

Also, while a lot of swivel/hinge/balljoint on the Gourai and Stylet need some sanding, I noticed that Hresvelgr and Innocentia only had a few joints that actually needed sanding. Can't say for the other girls though.

>>

Come to Italy. You have to pay ~22% of the price+shipping as "administrative charges" if the total is >45€.
>>
>>6420109
Hello fellow italian. Just use RSAL, most of the times it goes off the radars.

Shit might get better now that the EU has signed an extended trade agreement with Japan.
>>
>>6420139
When is that going to take effect?
>>
>>6420109
Try 50% on everything, plus a flat 10 dollars on top of that, even for packages marked as gifts.
Treasure what you have, anon.

Jesus Christ. I know a lot of people call yuros pussies nowadays but enduring this on top of everything else must take some guts.

Which fags come with blank spare face-plates?

You sure? I was looking at buying architect but when I check the instructions it only lists the pre-painted ones.

China is, they just aren't very foreigner friendly though there are ways to work around that.

(White) Stylet and Hamburger both do for sure and I haven't opened mine yet but I hear word red Base has quite a few too.
>>
>>6420289
I think everyone but Architect, Stiko, and Jinrai does.

On a related note: are there any online sellers of aftermarket faceplates/eye decals? I think I remember one posted a few threads back, but I was never able to find it.
>>
>>6420284
Gourai type 10 doesn't come with blank face plates, just prepainted ones. Funny, cause It comes with a set of eye decals.
>>
>>6420314
>>6420289
>>6420269

Jinrai might as well come with a blank. She comes with 4 faceplates and 3 of them have the same mouth shape. 2 of those have eye expressions so damn similar the3 only difference I spotted was a tiny sliver of white
>>
>>6419517
Koto has been weird about FAGs. Just re-releasing the FAG weapon sets and putting out new faceplates would teleport otaku money into their pockets but they don't do it.
>>
>>6420289
>>6420298

Architect does not come with blank faceplates.

But she has face waterdecals
>>
>>6420365
>But she has face waterdecals
Man that is so messed up.
>>
>>6420269
Base, Hres, and Ater are the only normal releases that come with a blank faceplate.
Most of the Koto exclusives come with at least one.
Don't know about the BD ones but I'm pretty sure they'll add one.
Also, Powered guardian has one too

>>
>>6410226

Would you mind telling me how you got that image to fit exactly? Or rather, what size did you print at to get it to fit like that?
>>
>>6420736
I can't recall the exact size, but that model set comes with a few choices of images for the screen printed on cardboard. I measured one of those, then scaled the image to something close to the right size in word, printed it off and carefully cut and trimmed it to fit the TV.

I messed up a few times because I didn't realize that the image needs to be larger than the "screen" since the edges and a piece of the bottom will get obscured by the frame.
>>
>>6420736
>>6420763
I was thinking if you were either rich or had access to some secondhand 5" phones that they'd make a great in-scale big TV for your smol robots.
>>
>>6420769
Was just wondering since i have that exact tv set too.

>>6420763
Thanks. Guess I'll just have to trial and error it.

picked up my hornet today, just got the head done for now, and even with just that, I must say I'm very impressed by how the hair pieces were designed. much better than Scout's anyways. I like how the seam lines are disguised as hair lines

I'm really excited for this line, it just keeps improving the quality

Are the hair pieces interchangeable between girls? I want to swap Hornet and Roadrunner's hair to get a dark-skinned blonde.

Roadrunner is not out yet, but since they use the same helmet the faces are bound to be the same shape. And if you want dark skin, you should check out the Low Visibility version of Roadrunner.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veK3DyiQsxM
>>
>>6420853
the face plates and inner head construction of the first 2 kits and Hornet are completely different. hornet's face plate extends further up to show more forehead.

I think this head design might be the standard for future megami heads, if not, I'm sure at least roadrunner will be the same as hornet

What happened to that one anon that did the flesh color painting?

Pic related, was his.

What if he painted on white primer instead of grey, and reduced the amount of character flesh 2(pink)?

Would it match the fleshtone of the faceplates then?
