They don't really have to retcon that one. It's implied Galvatron had no spark. and they just used technology from Megatron's corpse to create him, which ended up altering his programming.
If Megatron was brought to life (again) separately, they should both be able to exist at the same time.
It's just weird that they wouldn't bother explaining this, and the fact that they didn't makes me wonder if they are just going to ignore it all together.

It's probably just general toy sales. I can't think of many transforming robot lines. And Star Wars is probably competition but at the same time both brands are owned by Hasbro.

If I had to take a guess maybe Power Rangers/Super Sentai? They're kid oriented and made by Bandai.

There doesn't seem to be tons of mainstream toy brands in the US. It's mostly Mattel/Bandai/Hasbro and I don't even know what Mattel would have to compete with TFs cuz GI Joe is dead.

Overseas for transforming robots those various Chinese Sentai shows and Korea's Biklonz line might be direct competition as well.

This film was really enjoyable apart from all the submarine bullshit in the middle. having prime actually identify himself as Nemesis Prime made the film for me. Megatron was done perfectly too.

I liked it too but I still can't help but believe that those rumors about a 3 hour run time were true and leaked from test screenings. I imagine this scared Paramount who had Bay cut it down. There was a lot cut from this film. Remember the bots and Lennox's G Wagon in UK? The sequence filmed in the middle of nowhere Michigan? This also explains why the credits were (super fast) flash screens, instead of the traditional scroll. There was much more than what we saw in the theatrical release. If any TF movie is eligible for a directors cut, it's this one.

I have to agree with this. I'm hoping that the odds this time time are much better than for previous TF releases, given the horrible box office performance. After a few days to digest the film properly, and not be on "a high" of it simply because it is new, here is my review of Transformers: The Last Knight.

As a preface, I have seen the film twice, once on the 20th, and again on the 21st.

Following the conclusion of the movie, my first reaction was, "When can I get to the theater to see it again?" Not because the movie blew me away, but because the story it tells is simply hard to completely see everything the first go-around.

I loved the first four films, I even loved Revenge of the Fallen. I honestly felt that there was little Bay could do to make me dislike one of his Transformers movies, because he always has served up exactly what I have wanted out of them. That said, I am happy to report that Transformers: The Last Knight is no exception. However, this does come with some caveats. In my opinion, we finally get more focus on storytelling, more mystery and intrigue, but it comes at the expense of the action. Whether you like that better or worse really depends on whether you care more about awesome action scenes or a deeper story that will stick to your bones a little more.

It seems like they spent more energy borrowing plot devices from shows like Prime and G1 than they did actually paying attwntion to the previous films and trying to keep the continuity consistent.

The thing I really loved about this one, besides the broader TF lore it brought into play, was the sense of energy and style it had compared to the others. It just went beat to beat, never lingering too long on something or over indulging. Always conscious of the visual and tone. Despite the shorter run time it felt like more story than we've gotten before and it was like a rollercoaster ride in movie form. Almost like watching a Michael Mann film about giant robots.

What it lacks in robot on robot action, it traded for real screen time and dialogue for most of them. Leadfoot just hanging around in Havana for a couple scenes had more lines than he had in the entirety of DotM.

Megatron just being back with no explanation and Bumblebee being a-ok with falling apart with no explanation (despite this being lethal to other TFs in past movies) are going to stand out to anyone who's seen the other movies, whether they analyze it carefully or not.
