Who here /trypticon/?

And to the anon that wanted me to fill trypticon last thread, what his mouth, stomach cavity, or the TM pegs all over his body like warts?

Hhi /tfg/, this is the loot from my vacation in Canada. Being from Holland, this was Transformer paradise. I got most at TRU and Broadside at Walmart.

The little guys are from Dollarama.

How do you like my haul?

Saw TLK last night. Didn't really like it.

But I can't help but think that if this movie came out in 2009, we'd have so many more cool toys of non-sentient stuff that was in the movie. There's some real potential for some cool Transformers.
>>
I've not seen the movie yet, but I've heard from at least three people that TLK has made them not want toys that they thought they wanted before seeing the movie.

Can anyone here confirm they feel the same way? I'm scared they're talking about Nitro or Megatron.

I want Cogman for sure, Megatron is ordered, Nitro is a hilarious asshole.

Really, if they have a toy shown, consider it.
>>

Well, i could see people passing on dragonstorm and cogman after watching the movie, if they go for screen accurate.
Mostly for me, it made me not want toys we weren't yet getting, like onslaught.
The new spike toy is odd. As far as i could tell, he's not even IN the movie. Must have been a holdover from the previous line.

What are some of your favorite/most satisfying transformation steps?

I have to say that the way Artfire's ladder folds up and slides perfectly into his chest is one of the best. His whole transformation in general is satisfying, he's one of those figures I can't look at without wanting to pick up and transform.

Somewhat related, Artfire is amazing. He's become one of my absolute favorites. Highly recommend him, especially to anyone who skipped out on Inferno. I literally cannot think of a single flaw.
>>
>>6385273
He looks really good, but fuck, 12000 yen is a lot for a character I've never even heard of before. I want him really bad now, but I guess I'm gonna have to wait for a sale or for him to get KO'd.

>12000 yen is a lot for a character I've never even heard of before.
If you only buy characters because you've seen them in cartoons/comics, you're missing out. Some of my favorite toys of all time are the outliers or Diaclone repaints. Artfire spanks the shit out of Inferno in almost every way, but he's gonna get the shaft because he was basically never in anything, which is an absolute tragedy.

He is pricey, but MPs in general are getting more expensive. Artfire is one of the few that I have zero regrets. Hell, I have negative amounts of regret. I love him so much, he's made me forget about the regret I've had for other figures. He's one of those toys that, in retrospect, is worth more than what I paid for him just because I'm enjoying him so much.

Fuck man....if they were gonna fix shit the one thing I really would have wanted is a longer abdomen. Barricade's torso looks so short and squashed.

Are the prints on his legs actual prints or stickers?

I've been really eyeing him, or at least some version of the mold. I def like him more than Inferno and have no connection to the G1 characters anyway, but I kind of hate the head "wings" on both of them. Plus I love construction colors which pushes me more towards Grapple. But the firetruck ladder transformation looks more satisfying.
>>
>>6385340
Brawn is my favorite legends class TF.
Swerve has been dethroned.
>>
>>6385347
>Are the prints on his legs actual prints or stickers?
They're actual prints.

Grapple is great, but I find him to be a lot less... elegant than the fire truck version. I skipped Inferno, but I was surprised by just how different Artfire was. It's pretty obvious the mold was designed with the firetruck in mind first. Artfire's arms stay locked in better in robot mode, which was a bit of an issue for me with Grapple, and the way the panels on his back and legs fold up makes him easier to pose. It is a tough call, but you can't go wrong with either.

>>6385340

I actually love this a lot, but man if it just had sculpted fur...
>>
>>6385416
Would look better if they had decided to have the sculpted hair texture on the black parts, but that would have required way to much remolding to be justifiable.

I wish they'd do more toy-accurate optional redecos of things, but that would probably just cannibalize their own sales too much.

A review of mpm04 is up

>I will start by saying this - stunning. Simply stunning. He has that premium feel to him and he is much more articulated than the ROFT Leader class mold.

>First things first - I might have fudge up the transformation to truck mode as some parts are difficult to tab in. But I blame user error and also the instructions was very small.

>The robot mode is glorious and it replicates the CGI to the best of its ability. Everywhere is nice and tight. and he does not have the big backpack that plagued the ROFT mold and its subsequent retools.

>The mask changing gimmick carried itself from the AOE AD-31 Armored Knight Optimus Prime. It is executed well here. Paint apps are spot on EXCEPT for the blue arch on his feet. The box seem to show the arches painted blue on his feet but seemingly absent here in the actual product. The flames are pin striped and there are no bleeding and smudges. Great work there.

>Now here comes the part where everyone is wondering - where are the die-cast parts? The abs, the feet, the knees, headlights, inner parts of the legs. Yes, he has some heft to him.

>He comes with his 2 blades and blaster. There is no where to stash or keep these weapons in robot mode and in truck mode, it haphazardly plugs at the back of the truck. Other than that, it is well made and has tons of detail on it.

>As for the transformation, the upper body is totally different from the ROFT mold, but the waist down is familiar territory, mimicking the ROFT leader class transformation. And for those who are wondering, nope, you can't plug Jetfire or any of the 3rd party add ons. The design is evidently different to allow any integration of the older toys.

>Would I recommend it? Hell yeah. The parts count are definitely higher and he feels solid all round. Definitely a keeper if you are into the Movie Masterpiece series.

I love this dude's work, go give him a visit at least

Best toy of Primal was made in 1997. So they did something different and made it show accurate.

We need high engineering and sculpt but NOT afraid to stray from animation accuracy, got a feeling the sculpts we crave may be best done by american sculpters and somehow work japanese engineering into the abomination.

Just came back from watching TLK

What a trainwreck

>Squeeks is literally a retarded child robot, was shot from the start and never repaired, the only thing it ever said is mumbling 'chihuahua'
>Suicide Squad-like sequence when Megatron striked a deal with the humans, he demanded his captured decepticons to be freed by drafting them one by one, pending approval from government agent man. The decepticons had a generic action shot, froze frame, then their name is printed in big red letters, just like in Suicide Squad. A few of them were killed quickly too, within the next 20 mins or so
>barely any fights, Megatron barely got any screen time. Megatron is someone else's (quintessa) lackey once again
>the tough little girl who needs no man was a pointless character, you could've removed all the scenes with her in it and the movie wouldn't be any different
>they tried to shove in too many plot points and end up zipping you through scene by scene as quickly as possible. Feels like I'm watching a shitty youtube video with tons of jump cuts
>too much suspension of disbelief. Before the final fight in the last 20 mins, Megatron and co acted surprised to be ambushed by the humans, even though they were in an open grass field with nothing blocking their view, and they could've seen the tanks and soldiers closing in on them in all directions from miles away
>Cogman was introduced as a headmaster, but they never did anything with it. He was in his humanoid form the whole movie
>the cerberus transformer is actually formed by the ancient 12 knight transformers combined together, cerberus never transform into robot mode
>earth is Unicron. They hinted at Unicron actually appearing in the next movie

tl;dr I got bamboozled by Michael Bay again. 2/10 would not recommend. The toys are godlike this time, though. Especially Voyager Megatron and Hound

>But shittier engineering, and depends which mp's we are talking about.
Pretty much MP-10 through 21, and even a few after that. Engineering was great, and details combined the best parts of toy, cartoon and original ideas where necessary.

>>6385497
Hardly. See: MP Inferno. An earlier MP release of the character would have put the toy-accurate sculpting on his legs and elsewhere where the cartoon design is lacking. Instead, he's the most boring, red brick I've ever seen. Artfire blows him the fuck out because he takes so many cues from the toy instead.

We've had this argument on this board so many times, and there's no consensus. The fandom is split into two groups:
>people who want the MPs to look exactly like the cartoon
>people who want the MPs to look good

>>6385524
Apart from Grimlock, MP-01 through 09 may as well not exist anymore.
>The old car bots move well but can't do what sunstreaker can in some cases like the datsuns
True, but I'm going to wait until we have the final in hand. Most MP car bods didn't have extreme posability because their transformations were simpler. Sunstreaker looks like all of that articulation might come at the cost of having an absolute clusterfuck of a transformation, like MP 36 did. With the higher price, I wouldn't doubt it.
>>
>>6385522
Thanks. Guess I won't be able to repaint a Hardhead into a stand in for Brunt. It's too bad there's no vehicle that works as a TM troop transport. The closest I have is Kup, but it looks more like a bunch of illegal immigrants hitchinga ride.
>>
>>6385535
Should of stated where you began in the first place since the mp line is so vast, of course mp10 while he looks amazing could be better (compared to mp36 he's a brick in articulation) though he was the best mix of toy and cartoon aesthetics, which I do prefer.

If they come up with a new line where the designers were given free reign I would buy into that, new designs made up just because without any media tie in other than some homage to a character, yes fucking please!

It actually makes him a bit scarier. I just imagine he senses living sparks and has an internal radar that instinctually guides him to where he can cause the most destruction.

>It'd be better if Takara weren't so autistic about cartoon accuracy

If they are it's because fans are pretty autistic about "show accuracy".

I have seen you people in previous Transformers threads bitch and moan about how certain toys aren't "show accurate". I've seen it here. Ive seen it on other message boards. I've seen it on the early days of Usenet. I've seen it in Youtube reviews.

Well, here you go. Takara listened. You have an Optimus Primal that's more show accurate. And yet fans still bitch and moan even after being given what they ask for.

>And yet fans still bitch and moan even after being given what they ask for.
>implying the same people bitching and moaning about the accuracy now were the people clamoring for it years ago

The big issue is that the line is based on something people have nostalgia for. There are people who collect Transformers not because they like robots, or cool toys, but just because they grew up eating their lucky charms and watching Transformers on Saturday mornings and they want their robots to look exactly like they remember, because that's how they remember it, and to them it's objectively the "best" look.

>If they are it's because fans are pretty autistic about "show accuracy".
Are they, though? I mean, sure they want it, but I don't think the older, less-cartoon-accurate MPs sold any less because they didn't look exactly like the shitty animation models. I mean, let's face it, fans that are this far down the rabbit hole are going to buy these figures no matter what. I feel like it would be better to stray from cartoon accuracy, because then the toys might actually appeal to a larger market as opposed to just the manchildren who were going to buy two of each figure anyway.

Takara is making these figures primarily for the Japanese market. In Japan, the shows are the main thing that went on far longer then they went for us. So of course people will have a preference for stuff looking like the show.

Myself, I love the increased show accuracy.
>>
>>6385713
Not surprising.

As someone who saw the first IMAX screening in my country yesterday, I actually really enjoyed TLK. Don't get me wrong, it's very flawed and the plot is held together with a macguffin object and macguffin character, but I still really enjoyed it.

On a technical level, the movie is fantastic. The directing was on-point, the art team should be given big bonuses for their work, and the general cinematography was very sharp with some gorgeous shots.

I'd say it's a good film for Michael Bay to go out on, and possibly one of his best works, actually.

It's obviously no masterpiece, but still, I had fun, and that's what matters.

TakaraTomy always try for super-G1 accuracy with their paint jobs, so if they're making new moulds exclusive to their line, it seems rational to expect them to be G1-accurate, especially when they even go to the trouble of making new faces for accuracy to the Headmasters and Masterforce anime.

Also, why WOULDN'T I want it to look like that? Sure, they could improve it, but you posted a picture of the G1 TOY, not an animation model.

And for the record, when it comes to Targetmasters and Headmasters, I care more about their accuracy to the Headmasters anime than The Rebirth.

Oh do fuck off. The majority of the fanbase likes G1 - why do you think they keep pandering to G1 characters and designs? You're not going to get rid of people who like G1 (who, by the way, aren't one small group of people as your dumb ass seems to think).

But, you know, Michael Bay did nothing wrong, etc. etc.

And this is coming from someone who liked TLK, but this recent G1 hateboner bullshit is far worse than Geewunners have ever been. The only autism here, sir, is your own.

I like mp36's upper transformation a lot but I hate the legs and waist parts.
>>
>>6385864
>RID will likely get very little, unfortunately.
This is probably true...
I mean, it still got some of the best toys from the late 90s and early 2000s, but I'd really like even better more perfect versions of the main cast.

At least the Trilogy will get some love. I NEED an MP Armada Optimus in my life.

>incredible amount of G1 hate is ridiculous and usually seems to come from movie fans
I have personally never interacted with a movie exclusive fan. I imagine most are normies that just stick to movie specific discussions or don't interact with the online community at all.
>>
>>6385862
Cognition does not imply that. It implies you SHOULD be able to figure it out for yourself. Cognition is your ability to gain knowledge by doing things for yourself. Even if you transform the toy once and throw the fucking instructions away, you should be able to figure out how to tab the waist in just by looking at it.

>>6385864
I like G1, too. I just realize when it's shit. Which is most of the time. Very little of it is worth being faithful to. You can improve on pretty much every design or characterization with minimal effort, so when people start lamenting that everything isn't G1 accurate, it triggers the fuck out of me.

Look, I'll apologize. I'm salty that geewun accuracy is ruining the MP line for me, and now people keep demanding that Generations become more and more G1 accurate as time goes on. I really have nothing against G1, I just wish the fans weren't so rabid about things always being accurate to it.

And for the record, I'm not a movie fan, but I do like them. I mean I appreciate them as a twisted alternate universe where Optimus is a murderous vigilante and shit is crazy all the time just for the sake of it.
>>
>>6385873
>I mean I appreciate them as a twisted alternate universe where Optimus is a murderous vigilante and shit is crazy all the time just for the sake of it.
I like the parts when Marky Mark says transfohmah
>>
>>6385873
Okay, I should have used "should" instead of "have to". Close enough. My point is that I did figure it out but it wouldn't tab in no matter how hard I tried, and I showed a friend to prove I wasn't going crazy. The moulding looks a bit flakey around the grey shin pieces on mine anyway so that's probably not surprising.
>>
>>6385884
I really like Marky Mark and I'm sad he's supposedly leaving. I really love the idea of having a blue-collar everyman at his wit's end being dragged around by all these giant robots. The Boston accent only makes it better.
>>
>>6385873
Things can be improved on from G1, yes, but anon, PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED OPINIONS. I don't know why this is such a hard concept for people to grasp. Some people want their highly-accurate G1 toys. Me personally, I think the *scale* argument is typically stupid, but people get hung up on it anyway. I think that is more objectively stupid because outside of Floro Dery's bullshit, there really wasn't much of a scale in G1. But lamenting about the lack of G1 accuracy is fine.

And my point with Aimless was simply that TakaraTomy goes very hard on G1 accuracy but didn't do that here. I don't know about you but I'm personally not into the whole folded-up legs thing where they just stuck the legs on top instead of folding them underneath.
I wish they had gone for a style closer to Universe Nightstick (without reusing that mould for the hundredth time) but they didn't, and I'm okay with that.

I think it's also fair to say that a lot of people who express dissatisfaction with something not being super-accurate will often still buy the thing anyway. I know I fall into the camp.
>>
>>6385895
Not even supposedly. He straight-up confirmed it.

I've never particularly like him in movies myself but I felt like he was playing someone other than Mark Wahlberg in AOE and TLK, so I enjoyed him quite a bit in those movies. He seems to work well with Michael Bay, so hopefully they make another film together in the future.

I mainly just get tired of this idea that we G1 fans get pandered too too much when we hardly get a bone from Hasbro.

Having a G1 character with a new altmode or new robot design that barely looks like either either the toys or character models is not G1 for us. G1 Optimus Prime is iconic to the franchise second only to movie Bumblebee nowadays and yet how often do we get a toy representing him?

In the past 11 years how many G1 Starscreams have we got? Classics Deluxe, a Legends figure, MP re-releases. The rest of the time it is based on IDW or totally original designs. Takara doubling down and giving those of us who wanted the show characters practically off the screen is a nice change of pace from the past couple decades.

Saw the movie. The action and new characters were pretty solid.

My biggest complaint though is, and I know there would be retconning of the history because of the whole Cybertronians in Medieval times shit, but my biggest complaint is how the retcons just made more fucking plotholes than it filled. And what is Quintessa and what does she want? Is she a Prime? Is she a servant of Unicron, even though she was trying to kill him to rebuild Cybertron? Like what the fuck. I loved her character but what she is/who she serves is just not explained and a fucking mess.

I loved Squeaks surprisingly. Honestly though, 1st film is the only one I have no complaints with lore-wise. Each new installment just makes shit more and more scattered and convoluted without explaining how it all strings together. Hopefully there will be a tie-in comic or something that actually salvages it all. If you consider the first trilogy and the last two films as their own seperate continuities then they make total sense. Otherwise, you'll just give yourself a migrane.
>>
>>6385941
The fan base waited 20 years for Masterpieces. Now that Beast Wars is 20 years old, it's getting Masterpieces too, and at least two of them look like they should have been held back for a few more years for the engineering to catch up. That's not going to stop me buying them, but still.

That all being said, as much as I'd like some newer characters made into Masterpieces too (where the fuck are my Dai Atlas and Armada Optimus?), I still love G1 despite not growing up with it and I'd prefer them to do as much of G1 as Masterpieces first before moving onto the next thing. If I have to wait a lifetime for RID masterpieces, so be it.

>>6385770
No, stores are empty because stores are bunglers and Hasbro, while controlling many formerly independent brands, protects them with an embargo.
>>
>>6385950
Pretty sure she's just meant to be a Quintesson.

I won't give you my hours-long spiel but from what I can work out, it seems they wanted to make the Quintessons but didn't want to spend an entire movie establishing them so they just made one, Quintessa, and because of the way the rest of the film was written, Quintessa and the Stick of Truth (as I'm now calling it) were macguffins of necessary evil to tie the rest of the film together.

Which isn't to say the plot was rock-solid either way because it really wasn't, but hey, be lucky that we didn't get Batman & Robin with that retard Akiva Goldsman on the writing team.

Iktf. Fort Max itself is disappointing, and I'm not sure if Toyhaxing it up would make it worth having.
>>
>>6385956
Honestly, that is part of the reason they're empty (and I'm not in the US, so when I say empty, I mean that there are VERY few Transformers to be found, and they're usually from early waves), but over here, there are actually people scalping them (long story short, just trust me on this, people are buying at least some of them up then reselling them locally with stupid markup).

That and they just put the price up for all our Transformers with TLK (and some stores had already put them up for Generations starting with Combiner Wars or Titans Return anyway), so now it's literally not worth buying Transformers locally for me. Imports from Chinkland and Japan all the way. It's the only cost-effective way to do it.

And seriously, the fact that I can get a MOSC Titans Return figure that isn't even on the shelves over here for 3/4 the price with shipping included from China is fucking insane.
>>
>>6385963
Really?
>>
>>6385961
remember that Quillfire is all you need
>>
>>6385961
Agreed, which is why I imported the Japanese ones (to keep it simple: it's cheaper for me to import the Adventure versions even after shipping than to buy RID toys here).

Still, at least the mould reuses aren't Combiner Wars levels yet (though at least they had a reason for that, even if it got out-of-hand eventually).

Also: am I the only one who REALLY doesn't like Getaway or any customs of that mould? Every time I see that vehicle mode, I cannot ever unsee Chromedome, and not just because that was what the toy originally was - it is very specifically designed to look like Chromedome.
>>
>>6385959
Just so dumb. There is so much potential with these sequels if done right. For instance, the Bee and Hot Rod in WWII can easily be explained as them searching for the Allspark and arriving on Earth earlier in history. Allcit would take is one fucking sentence of exposition but no. And when they did all the fanservixe from the previous films, they couldn't even get that right. Like Starscream's head. His head was fuxking obliterated in Dotm. How the fuck did they manage to fuck up something as simple as whether or not his head was destroyed in a previous film?
>>
>>6385924
The level of entitlement here is pretty high. You don't think you get pandered to, but it's actually heaps more than anyone else gets lately. So the fact that geewunners still stamp their feet when details aren't identical to their 30 year old cartoons is outright laughable.
>>
>>6385964
Really. It fucking blows. Transformers is basically dead here. We haven't had Marvel Legends since the Toy Biz days (and even then, not many), and now there are more Marvel Legends than Transformers these days.
>>
>>6385969
I dunno, I honestly liked TLK more than all the others though. It had good pacing, solid art and sound design (though I thought the dialogue was a bit hard to hear but it could have been the mixing for IMAX - I'm not sure, I'd have to see it again on a regular screen), some absolutely beautiful set pieces and well-done shots (props to the DOP and art team on that), and some really good action scenes.

I'll say this much (to try to avoid spoilers): I legitimately loved the moment(s) with Starscream's head and thought they were nice scenes that just added a little more character to the film.

It would have been nice if we had more screen time for the Decepticons but I still loved all we got of Megatron.

I totally called it though: not even a hint of Galvatron was seen nor heard. Amusing, really. So yeah, there are plotholes and stuff, but I just kind of expect it these days. Plus to be fair, MOST Transformers series seem to have potholes anyway.
>>
>>6385964
Yes. I distinctly remember TR Brawn being on eBay for $7 shipped from China. Makes waiting another 2 months to pay $12.75 an insult. Also makes it stupidly hard to try to sell legitimately sourced (like not scalped) toys just about impossible.

and fuck paying that much for it but I can't see any other alternative ever coming along at this point haha.
>>
>>6385968
Yeah. I feel like there was a better option for a repaint there. The fact that they didn't even remold the chest makes it pretty obvious they didn't give a shit and we're just looking to cash in a quickie.
>>
>>6385965
Quillfire is great, though Thunderhoof and Fracture are also pretty cool.

I do actually really like Strongarm even though she's quite flawed. I'm not sure why they couldn't make her far more accurate to her cartoon design, but the figure has a nice size especially when she transforms into a vehicle.
>>
>>6385981
Which is a shame, and I feel like the Powermasters have really been screwed in Titans Return (and the Voyagers and Leaders with their dumbass helmets).

I'm a bit miffed that they've done all these non-Headmaster characters as Headmasters but not done all of the Headmasters. They even made new triple-changer Headmasters but didn't make Snapdragon nor Apeface.

And now, some of the Legends aside, the Targetmasters won't be Targetmasters and God only knows what they'll do with Powermasters going forward. Kind of a shame, really.

Actually, I think Powermasters could be especially fun because if you lose them, you don't literally lose their head, they don't really get in the way, and they're just silly little add-ons like Minicons that aren't all that necessary but are a bit of fun. For as much as I like Headmasters, making the whole line Headmasters kinda sucks. I mean, at least the gimmick isn't too bad, but yeah.

Keeping Getaway though. I liked the Streetwise mold he's semi-derived from and I don't have many TRs so reuse fatigue hasn't taken hold. Plus, he set up that whole mutiny against that smug Rodimus in the comics so there's that too.

>>
>>6385997
is this someone who didn't see the movie?
>>
>>6386024
It would have been cool, yeah. I'm surprised the toy refers to him as a Titanmaster but that they specifically called him a Headmaster in the movie (and he's still around at the end, so we might get some Headmaster action in TF6).

Also, did I hear them right? The submarine is a Transformer? That'd make the most sense but I got a bit lost there. They were told to go to the Naval Museum and then they went into the sub as soon as they got there and... I dunno.

A lot of the lore and explanations are implied but given that Cade knew Bumblebee could do that and given that the Transformers are still being hunted, I assume Bumblebee reengineered himself (possibly with the help of Cade) to be able to basically parts-form in case he got blown to bits, so that he didn't instead end up dead as shit when they blew him up.

That first scene looked really good but was completely pointless. But it was fun, I guess.

>>
>>6386036
As pointed out by someone a few times, the dialogue saying he's a Headmaster was off screen so Hasbro might have told them to add the line so they could sell Cogman at deluxe price point. Not a bad idea since he's the most prominent transformer in this film, and they sure as hell had to sell him. The sub probably didn't transform since it was there since WW, and most of those bots shown off were senile.
>>
>>6386056

>>

>>
>>6386059
I know but my point is that he's specifically referred to as a Headmaster, NOT a Titanmaster.

Either way, Cogman was pretty awesome. Fuck the haters. But it would have been cool if he transformed.

To be honest, after the WW2 flashback, I think I'd prefer that to what we're actually getting with the Bumblebee movie, but oh well.
>>

>>

Seems like we could've used another 15 minutes in the movie for some exposition
>why can bumblebee reassemble
>why is Megatron no longer Galvatron with a normal body again
>where'd the baby dino bots come from
>Why was Prime shut off in space but immediately functional again upon crashing on Cybertron
>why was Cybertron is so many pieces
>WTF is going on with Unicron

The last one especially was next to unaddressed for having such huge implications
>>
>>6386056
Because the writers of each new film would just rather retcon anything and everything for the sake of cheap gimmicks and fanservice. Like how Galvatron is written out, as are the Primes and Allspark for the staff and Unicron, and Staracreams head not being destroyed.
>>
>>6386087
Don't forget,
>who is Quintessa actually?

Seriously. At one point she's trying to save Cybertron but the she's labelled the Great Deciever by the knights and they say Optimus betrayed his kind, even though she is literally trying to revive their homeworld. So is she a traiterous Prime like the Fallen? Who fucking knows because they don't explain shit. Literally all we're told she made was Optimus. Not the knights, not Cybertron, just Optimus. And we don't even know if she was lying when she states this.

Also, can we talk about how the film ends with what Sentinel essentially tried to accomplish in Dotm and the Autobots are just fine with it? Way to destroy your home in the 3rd film just to be happy with the same outcome you tried to prevent previously.
>>
>>6386087
>>Why was Prime shut off in space but immediately functional again upon crashing on Cybertron
Frozen in space, entering the atmosphere thawed him out.

Does Skulltron seriously not have a beast mode? Are they shitting me right now? Why would you even consider rereleasing a set of mediocre figures swapping out the only really good one for a non-transforming hunk of plastic? Goddamn, Hasbro, I thought you were smarter than that. Then again I should have realised they weren't since they refuse to stop recoloring Rippersnapper, arguably the shittest Legends/Legions to date.

Ugh.
>>
>>6386354
TR Scourge's badness is way overblown in my opinion, but LG Blurr's scarcity is a tragedy. TR Scourge's blue is at least nice-looking and not even five minutes with a paint pen will have him looking perfect, but fixing up a TR Blurr is more trouble than it's worth.

he doesn't have one, unles you mean his mobile ground fortress, you could makeshift a "Nemesis ship" mode bending the side flaps down 45 degrees using the legs as the wings, but he can't keep the pose, too heavy and not enough ratchets.

The mobile ground fortress was the original third mode, but when they redesigned him, they claimed the "new mode" was based on the nemesis, since the original mode wasn't functionally able to be duplicated without Brunt.
it obviously was a cop out, but there's flaps and hinges that make me wonder if something is doable.

I think I'm doing that thing again where I spoil a toy for myself by going over it and seeing really minor and easy improvements that could have been made to it.

Like I'm looking over Ultra Magnus here, and on top of thinking how much having more range on the head and wrist swivels would improve him, I'm just looking him further and thinking the knees could have had over 90 degrees of articulation if they were just molded slightly differently. There's really no reason for it not having a hip rotation. An added extra hinge in the shoulders could have given him backwards shoulder articulation (like how MP10's shoulders work) to go with how the transformation hinge on the shoulders can be used for forward articulation. I also tried it out of curiosity, and there's pretty much exactly enough room for MP10's matrix of leadership to fit in the chest compartment, and a very slight change in the mold could have accommodated it.

It's really just such a shame that toys can't do everything...
>>
>>6386191
It certainly made sense. The tail/legs are way more reminiscent of the G1 toy for sure. I'm not unhappy with the Triggerhappy retool, though.

>>6386163
I'm not the biggest G1 fan, and I always thought the box was stupid, even as a kid, but I've grown to love it. On Grapple, it looks like some kind of extra head protection for construction purposes. The wings and whatnot are a little silly on Artfire, but I think it makes him look heroic, which is fitting for a fire engine. I suppose they could have made the boxes removable if they had wanted to, they're not too involved in the actual transformation.

>>6386134
You did the right thing, anon. You'll love him. If not, I'm sorry, but I find him absolutely brilliant. Grapple is certainly worth the purchase, too, but I cannot lie. As much as I wanted to love Grapple instead of this random repaint of a literal nobody, Artfire is buckets of fun.
>>
>>6386506
Deep breaths, anon. Repeat to yourself, it's just a toy, you should really just relax.

The only thing that really irks me about him is the uncovered white part inside the forearms. Makes his wrists look naked. Other than that I totally would have bought him if MP Hot Rod hadn't begged me to get MP Magnus.
>>
>>6386372

That bothered me too, but I think I'm used to it.

I want to get the upgrade kit for him too, but the Takara version gave it blue forearm replacements and I think they would end up making the vehicle mode look weird since the frame of the car carrier would go from white to blue half way through.

Do it. Do it right fucking now. If Inferno did nothing for you then Artfire will definitely please.

Even if you might think the toy deco looks tacky, all the added details are great and do wonders to break up the mold's flat surfaces. All the silver paint and chrome is a breath of fresh air ever since MPs moved away from making things shiny. The body colors are great on him too, the white torso breaks up the black limbs and all the black details compliment everything nicely, and he's all shiny and nice and shit too.

The transformation on this mold is probably among my favorites too. It's all clever and intuitive, and deceptively simple for the results you get out of it. It almost seems as straight forward as a generations toy but with the added MP complexities, you could probably do him blind without hitting any real road blocks and when you get him down it's maybe a 2 minute transformation max. It's one of the best molds in the MP line in my opinion and he's really one of those guy's you'd want to transform back and forth when you get him.

I think my only genuine complain about Artfire is he lacks any firefighting accessories (those effects are Inferno exclusive, unfortunately), but that's something I think you can live with. But hey, you get Nightstick, and and Nightstick is a cute little bastard too with a lot of personality.
>>
>>6386897
The only reason Inferno did nothing for me was I had already decided to commit on MMC's Backdraft (it was an $80 Black Friday purchase) and I didn't want to "double up."
>>
>>6386903
Well, as far as 3Ps that eventually got better versions of the character later go, you could do a lot worse than Backdraft. The plethora of vehicle details on him actually make him pretty competitive with the Inferno MP, if you ask me, even if I still think the MP wins out.

>tfw hasbro never sold seperate packs of different hands and feet for the combiners
>>
>>6387007
I get that the handfootguns were made to avoid any compatibility issues from buying the wrong set of deluxes, like, if you bought four deluxes that were intended to be feet, and then now you only had feet and you were fucked out of hands for your gestalt, but they really should have just packed dedicated hands and feet with the voyagers instead. It's a simple solution to a non-issue and it would have been a lot better than what we got I imagine.
>>
>>6386988
Man, I find it crazy that there was a time when you could just reissue a G1 toy as mainline and no one would bat an eye.

Imagine if Hasbro came out today with G1 Apeface and Snapdragon and went "here's guys, here's the voyager titans return horrorcons you've been asking for!"

/tfg/ I need to vent.
My MPM-03 arrived and fuuck this thing is bad on QC.
The pin machine fucked up the hole on his right shoulder where the wing and wheel assembly attaches to the main body, and the same assembly is actually missing the fucking screw that attaches the inner and outer wheelwells. Because of these two things the right wing is a floppy unstable mess.

Debating contacting my merchant or attempting to fix it myself. The pin machine stopped short of wrecking the whole hinge, it only dented the top of the last pinhole and that area of the figure isn't too bad to disassemble. The missing screw also doesn't seem like it'd be something my corner hardware store wouldn't carry.

Also, fucking kid gloves with the battlemask gimmick. That shit doesn't have anything more than paper-thin plastic and well-wishes holding it in place, and the latch for the diecast top-of-head piece disengages violently.

>no pic because phone camera is too shit to show the intricate damaged
