Just boosted my Star Wars Collection a bit more without seriously breaking the bank!

$347 got me (all unopened, factory sealed)...
75048 The Phantom
75053 The Ghost
75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium
75103 First Order Troop Transporter
75172 Y-Wing Starfighter

Also included in this was 2 loose Minifigs (also priced within the $347)
Sabine Wren (from 75150 A-Wing vs Tie Advanced)
Sabine Wren w/Helmet (from 75106 Imperial Assault Carrier)

Wish they made a Sabine Wren with the Darksaber and his Season 3 hair, but oh well.

I was almost able to eBay snipe a 75054 AT AT Walker for $180, but it got away from me...

Don't have that much superduper rare stuff besides a misprint of a regular yellow head printed on a red headpiece, two of the crazy expensive antenna pieces, a Basiliks, bunch or early 70s STAMPS. Doesn't come anywhere close to the amount of money i spent on wacky minifigure and decorated parts though. I'm a HUGE sucker for those and my wantedlists are spiraling out of control.

>>
>>6376038
>75194 CONFIDENTIAL_HERO SPEEDER NEW
So probably that Speeder they were using on Crait against the Heavy Walkers
>75195 CONFIDENTIAL_VILLAIN SPEEDER NEW
Hopefully its not a normal Speeder Bike, because we've had like 5 of them in the last 2 years
>75196 CONFIDENTIAL_HERO FIGHTER NEW
This could be interesting. We already have the Resistance X-Wing, A-Wing, Y-Wing, and we know the new Bomber is a different set number. Could this be a new B-Wing, or maybe a canonization of the V-Wing Airspeeder?
>75197 CONFIDENTIAL_VILLAIN FIGHTER NEW
TIE Interceptor or TIE Bomber would be fucking awesome here
>75198 CONFIDENTIAL_INFERNO PACK NEW
Inferno Pack? Could this be the gang of Mercenaries that Del Taro's character will be leading? More cool characters is at least a plus. Would be nice to see maybe some Jetpack troopers that arent Clones or Mandalorans.
>75199 CONFIDENTIAL_CLONE TROOPER PACK NEW
FINALLY MORE FUCKING CLONES. Hopefully this set wont be garbage like the Senate Clone Pack...fuck those Blue suits.
>75200 CONFIDENTIAL_FIRST SPECIAL FORCES PACK NEW
Always happy for more First Order packs. Hopefully this will come with some Stationary Turrets and nice doodads for outpost building.
>75201 CONFIDENTIAL_JEDI COUNCIL PACK NEW
Please update Mace Windu, Ki Adi Mundi, and Kit Fisto. I actually wouldnt mind if this was a bigger set that came with a Moc Jedi Temple.
>75206 CONFIDENTIAL_ACH-TO DUEL NEW
So this might be a Luke/Rey training set, as Ach-to is the Island theyre on
>75207 CONFIDENTIAL_IMPERIAL CORVETTE NEW
YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
>75210 CONFIDENTIAL_TBC WAR ROOM NEW
Another playset type set, most likely. Could give a new General Hux, and some other Imperial Officers (which are welcomed). Not sure how exciting it could be though. Definitely something I have a hard time trying to picture since it sounds uneventful.

I like it. Was fiddling with the orangish yellow version of that helmet the other day. But don't really have any other spacey orange figureparts to go with it.
The azure and red in the face might not go with the copper green and white of the suit that well.
Maybe use an old futuron torso in blue or red? Might make the colourscheme a bit more calm.

>>6376008
I personally don't really read the legs too well in combination with the legs. The lips around the belt seem to stop or look unfinished and the button and overlap of the fly is cut off too.
Maybe try swapping out the with just a plain white.
>>6375990
Man all the recent lego movies sets are incredible now.
I don't even care about batmans that much but both the sets and the movie were really great.
Don't care that much about Ninjago either but definately a bit hype.

While i liked the first moviesets and the first movie was ok i didn't have the same reaction despite more nostalgiafactors. I guess it really helped that I knew what to expect and concentrate on, and that all the elements i liked about it were ramped up or atleast really solid
>>
>>6375990
>all dat sand green
Welp, there goes my wallet again.
>>
>>6376144
I feel the same about the movie sets (though I didn't really like the batman movie as much)
I also recently came into the ninjago dragons so I'm kind of hooked on that aesthetic now, but let's see if that lasts until the sets come out
>>
>>6376115
its fake, confirmed
>>
>>6376231
Really disliked Ninjago when it came out except for the garmadon figure, wich was exotic and new back then. The steampunky quirky qualities as well as the high emphasis on pearl-gold didn't really do it for me.

But now things have progressed quite a bit. Lots of cool experimentation, solid and imaginative vehicles in both play and design. Lots of different flavours of interest. Even a rather realistic highly detailed japanese castle to rival the old ninja castle theme (who would've thought that years ago)

Still hardly ever got pulled across the line to actually buy sets though. It's more of a space thing for me (literally as well as liking the swooshy pewpew variety) When the darkblue ninjaghostvampires with that sweet trans neon limbs and medium green spooky parts came out i really liked what they were doing and was hype but never bought a single set in the end. Definately getting some of those crazy spook katanas and minifigure parts though.

This sand green one tickles me again too.

I've switched back to the green legs but kept the white hands. I think either a set of dark green pants or white shoulder epaulets would fix the issue.

Id image they couldnt make it minifig scale, like other UCS models because it would just be too god damn top heavy and the legs would need to be stiff as fuck and bulky as hell to hold the thing up.

Id be happy with it just being noticeably bigger than any other AT-AT model theyve made and hold at least 2-3 Minifigs in the cockpit and like...another 6-8 Minifig stormtroopers comfortably in the main compartment area.

If you lock the outer pivots in place you can connect both wings with technic bits at the center, then hold that hinge by clamping the fuselage around it, but it really has to be built around for how small it can be.

Not my idea originally, I just follow a lot of plane builders, think I first saw it on a Mustang.

Budget for it, anon. I love having a steady stream of fun buys coming in. I'll order my monthly or half-monthly "treat", whatever my income allows, forget about it, and have a lovely surprise on my doorstep a few days later. The consistency is nice because I used to go long stretches without getting anything nice from anybody. Now I get presents all the time.

With how many themes have mechs in them nowadays, I wouldn't count on it.
>>
>>6376303
Have we seen ANY pics so far that imply that it actually has knee joints?
By now I'm worried that it doesn't even have proper hip joints, either, and only forward movement through those ratchet joints.
>>
>>6376303
>>6377277
It would appear that the legs can only splay and move forward, theres no indication of real knees.
Quite a shame, really.
>>
>>6377277
There's an alternate shot of this out there where you can see how the leg joints are attached; they're mounted some ratchet-ball joints to let it swing from side to side.

I think it might also be safe to say it doesn't have knees at this point. King's Mech probably spoiled us hard in that regard.
>>
>>6377277
Wait, scratch that hip part.
It seems like the large Technic ratchet joints are attached to brick ratchet joints that are connected to the mech's ass.

When was the last time you actually looked at them? The builds were all close to identical, EXCEPT for the non-humanoid mechs.

TLG must be doing something right with Ninjago for it to have exceeded the number of sets by a factor of 4, and run for over twice as long.

Mechs are just harder to play with. You have to pose them perfectly to balance them on carpet. Ninjago has more vehicles and playsets per wave, because that's what kids actually like. That and dragons.

You're gonna get at least two different mechs (one of which hasn't gotten official images yet) JUST from TLNM. So sit down, shut up, and just enjoy your children's toys, you man-babies.

Oh. Yeah those things were cool af desu. But there were 12, maybe 13 of the larger mechs. Almost all of them used the same configuration of joints with different colored and shaped pieces on them, and different weapons at the end. The second wave had some decent variation, but the leg coverings in the first wave all had the same pieces in different colors, with the only difference being robots had one set, and humans had another. I'll admit it was going places, but interest died off after the first wave and so it never got a third, sadly.

>secret print?

To quickly create a SNOT connection, just wedge a plate in between two studs. You can also use super glue like they showed in The Lego Movie if you can't get the angle just right. Plates can also be cut with a hacksaw if the ones you have are too long for what you need. If you want to get into making customs ("sigfigs" or "waifigs"), Play-Doh and hobby-store acrylic paint are your best options. If you trick a Lego Store employee into saying "Legos" they have to give you a free polybag. Some minifig heads have a secret face print underneath the visible one. Glow-in-the-dark pieces are edible. In Germany they call Legos "Danishblokken" because Legos is a slang term for penis. Dark bley pieces are actually made out of coral. The Pirates monkey was based on a monkey that Ole Kirk Christiensen shot as a boy. Primo and Duplo blocks contain a numbing agent.

Pirates technically still have PotC and the occasional CMF, but its latest ship sets have been pretty bloody disappointing. The people that made the first lego movie good left
Not to mention pushing a "cinematic universe" is one of the most creatively bankrupt ideas, so everything spawned from it is going to be mediocre to bad

>What happened to "every frame of the movies cam be reproduced with real Lego"?
It was actually "every build in the movies cam (sic) be reproduced with real Lego".

If you haven't seen it, The Lego Movie includes real-world objects like Band-Aid brand bandages and live-action human beings.

It just happens to be smooth and white and there's a white wall and chair right there, so even low angle shots of minifigs can work. There's also a variety of light sources (including natural, but not glaringly direct sunlight).

So far nobody's complained.

It gives me results like this.

Speaking of: I picked up this Batwing polybag at the Target store that's on my way to work. They still have the Batman CMFs on the impulse-buy pegs, but I'd never seen this before so I picked it up. Can't go wrong for three dollars and change.

It's a fun little build. Got a bunch of interesting parts like black teeth and light grey (?) lightsaber hilts. The hinged wings "flap" 90 degrees, straight out to straight down.

I recommend it if you're looking for a little something to build and you liked the Batwing from the TLBM movie cinema film.

This. I appreciate the design aspects, but it gets old building things out of dozens of 1x2 plates and 1x2 curved slopes, whatever they're called. Pic related. They seem to focus too hard on not having studs showing.
>>
>>6378944
It's not going to be $90, let alone $100. That said, it does have six times the minifigs, five times as many pieces, and better design every respect except the knees.

if that justifies spending so much more money on something despite it more or less being the same thing to you then thats fine but I really don't like it.

I feel like in a big set, the number of minifigs included has diminishing returns. I don't want a $60 set hiked up to $80 because it has five minifigs. I don't need them that bad and if they were priced as bricks they'd be a lot cheaper.

Did you do this in stud.io? Do you plan on actually building it when you're done?
>>
>>6379157

Yup! Plan is:

1. Finish design
2. Optimize build for price/weight
3. Order pieces I lack
4. Assemble and adjust for IRL conditions
5. Match digital build to adjusted physical and share .io file if anyone is interested

Probably going to host it privately somewhere though because I don't like the BrickLink's user agreement for uploading.

I can see that being true. I'm a 3D modeller by trade, and I found it to be very similar to software I'm used to. Initially I thought no way am I going to build anything serious in this, but the Mirage has taken me just two days so that turned out not to be true.
It's certainly not perfect though. The stud snapping is really fucking wonky sometimes and it could be streamlined quite a lot (why do I have to click a part twice to get the movement/axis gizmo up??).

Making a Lego modeling program is probably walking a very thin line between making it easy to use and offering advanced/effective functionality. It's been over a decade since I last built Lego digitally and honestly I am quite impressed by it!

Nice!
Now make one where you can split the lions off!
>>
>>6379121

>>
>>6379211
Honestly about 85% of the reason I don't use stud.io is because you have to click, navigate a drop-down menu, and then click again just to set the cameras origin on a piece. In LDD you do that shit in one right click. Trying to go from LDD to stud.io is a fucking nightmare because literally everything is about twice as inefficient in stud.io.
>>
>>6379121
Decent attempt.
>>
>>6379233

This is true. The biggest mark against it is probably its lack of features, keyboard shortcuts and documentation. Given that it is in early stages still (I think?) I can kind of forgive them for that though.

I really, really love the BrickLink integration though, means I can optimize the price without even having to leave the program to check anything.
>>
>>6379211
I can't recommend LDD over stud.io enough, the snapping actually works and the interface is better.
>>
>>6379224
Man i wish i had enough pieces to make a build like that. I used pretty much all my non 2x4 green pieces just doing this though. I really hope the Lego ideas Voltron gets approved so i can fill that void.
>>
>>6379241

I'll give it a go! I'm well familiar with just sticking to what you already know so better test different waters before venturing out too far to sea, so to speak.
>>
>>6379233
Stud.io fails at a very basic UX element - when most monitors are widescreen, putting the palette across the bottom of the screen is far less practical than up the side.

And THEN stud.io fills the side space with a comically overblown palette and step handler too.

>>
>>6378584
They explained this sometime ago. Ninjago is suppose to take place in the backyard of some kids house so there's a mix of brick and natural stuff. The LEGO Movie mostly took place in Finn's Dad's LEGO city and displays, so everything was made of bricks.

You can actually. I didn't even think of that.

Still, I do continually check prices while I build. In Studio if you grab a piece it will immediately look up the market price for that color, which is great since I don't want to find out only later that I've used tons of a stupidly expensive/non-existent part. Does LDD tell you if you are using a part for which the selected color does not exist? Does it have collision checking?
>>
>>6379338
You can, but stud.io doesn't understand some pieces and will import them in the wrong place or miss them entirely.

To be fair, the step handler functions as an outliner as well, and you can collapse both panels you mentioned. The parts panel will pop up if you hit TAB and go away once you grab a part (no idea how to toggle the palette though, if you even can do that).

I would like it if you could undock the panels freely though.
