Thread Challenge:
>Make something anime. Alternatively, make something to fend off the weebs.
But why?
>>6334406
Yeah, just like the adults who collect comic books didn't care about anything important.
Now look how that ended.
>>6334421
>>6334424
kids fad, it'll die after adults get their hands on it

>Yeah, just like the adults who collect comic books didn't care about anything important.
>Now look how that ended.
Marvel realized that spooky scary SJWs don't actually spend money on their products so they stopped trying to cater to that market?
In the future, please don't be a /pol/tard outside of /pol/.

they did?

A homemade instruction sheet photoshopped to look like a scan of a printed instruction sheet?
>>6334428
Some girl choked on one, I'm sure they'll be banned soon even when Lego already has, "CHOKING HAZARD," on the box.
>>6334464
That is to say she didn't choke on that build or on a lego but she did choke on a spinner.

>>6334479
>A fidget spinner is a three-pronged, palm-sized piece of plastic or metal that spins around a central weighted disc. Marketed as a stress-relieving tool with health benefits,
Oh, so basically a new attempt of relieving idiots of their money, carry on.
>>6334440
are the heads on these detachable?
>>6334480
Goddamn that is atrociously awesome
This is amazing, can't wait for more updates!
>>Make something anime. Alternatively, make something to fend off the weebs.
>>6334577
where did you get that uguu kawaii minidoll
>>6334482
An attempt that is taking the toy world by storm, apparently. Fidget spinners and fidget cubes are a million dollar industry right now.

I don't
http://www.thebrickfan.com/official-lego-fidget-spinner-building-instructions/
>>6334751
Why is this fidget spinner thing mentioned so often lately? Like the past 3 days at least twice a day it was brought up here and there across the web.
>>6334772
>it must be real because a website says it's official
No anon, it's obviously a forgery that's been made to look like a scan of an instruction sheet. If you look at the full-size version, you can see some amateur errors like how the space inside the letters is not the same color as the background.
As someone who routinely makes forgeries for fun, this looks pretty fake. If I'm wrong, feel free to point to any evidence other than thebrickfan website, such as an official set number or mention by official Lego channels.
>>6334810
fuck if I know, it's just the newest dumb fad.
For a while they were everywhere, but instead of fading away now they're REALLY everywhere.
>>6334822
Funnily enough, lego did put out instructions on something similar to this way, way back in the mid 2000's.
I remember seeing them in a lego club magazine back in the day, they were much simpler though. There was a little gag at the side where Ogel was saying he's going to use them to conquer the world.
>bricklink order arrives
>with mysterious sticky goop
>feels like melted candy maybe
Children are gross and Lego's too good for them.
>>6334855

Not saying that's a good idea, though...

Are robot waifus 'anime'?
If not, I feel sufficiently confident that she'd be capable of fending off weebs.
So yeah, I finally got around to building that construction themed robot girl I talked about all the way back in December.
Her name is Katarina, or Kat for short. She's a construction/demolition assistant droid.
Her immense strength is obtained through the detachable diesel engine on her back, hence the ice-cream exhaust fumes.
I've got more pictures and more detailed information about her in the descriptions on the flickr images, so if you're interested you can check those out here.

...And have some fan-service as pittance for my shameless plug.
I tried doing an adventurer esque minifig. Thoughts?
>>6334441
>Marvel realized that spooky scary SJWs don't actually spend money on their products so they stopped trying to cater to that market?
Keep telling yourself that. Perhaps one day it will be true...
Newest WIP. Meant to be a stationary canon. The end of the "feet" are drilled/screwed into the ground so it can withstand the power of its own shot. Everything in black is just placeholder.
Thoughts?
(especially on colour, looks a bit boring right now)
>>6334825
They laughed at me!

But Lego just posted a video! Magazines are for AFOLs.
>>6335028
So radical!
So cool!
So wacky!
I want to die.
Yeah so I tried the turbines. One with the old style clip the other with one of the new round ones. The old clip did not feel right, you guys were right. Way too much stress on the piece. The new clip though feels fine, even when it's up at the angle I don't feel any extra stress. Just somebody let me know now if they've tried the new clips in this fashion and they've broken. If I know it will break, I'm now gonna bother.
>>6334994
The feet are backwards if they aren't all going to be the same. You'd ideally have a single axis along the barrel straight into the ground to transfer the recoil. A loading or feed mechanism should hang off the side so the operator doesn't have to do work to lift shells onto the platform. The handrail probably isn't necessary because OSHA doesn't care about war, use that space for some other cool stuff. Maybe add some wheels for mobility? Looks cool man.
>>6334822
This is actually official. I work at a lego store and my boss told me about these last weekend, and some people chose to make them at the building event.

>>6335173
I am so divided on Technic.
on one hand that's really damn impressive and I want to try designing something that actually does something.
on the other hand it looks like I spilled a bunch of parts in random colors and swept it into a box.

Oh man I made one of these too. Thanks for the nostalgia trip, I kept all my magazines for years but then I sold them to a guy for $20.
>>6335173
Is that a sequential gearbox?
Is it actually a part of that model or a custom build?
>>6335198
It's the sequential (1-3-2-4) dual-clutch transmission built in 42056. As I was taking the set apart I made a video of the tranny in action.
>>6335172

Because the set they were in was some kind of exclusive that didn't have a very long run.
Same applies to the red samurai in one of them.
>>6335421
Because they only appeared in that pack.
>>6335421
I wish they'd bring back samurais. Is there a rule for Lego now that they can't have humans vs humans "because it promotes warfare" or something? I've noticed it's always humans vs creatures/monsters of some kind now.

The last castle theme was humans vs humans.

I think he meant the the shitty 2016 movie one.
>>6335745
The one with the feeeeeeeeeeemales? that's the Ecto 2
>>6335747
No, it's still called Ecto 1, Ecto 2 was the copter in the cartoon series.
>>6335747
Ecto-2 is the little bike that comes with the set.
>>6335749
i'm sure this is explained in the Ghostbusters: All Inclusive /pol/ Stay Out Edition. I always assumed it was called the Ecto 2 and that the set is called "ecto 1/2" to let you decide what it is for yourself
https://shop.lego.com/en-CA/Ecto-1-2-75828
>>6335752
As someone who's seen the movie, the car is called the Ecto-1 and the little motorbike that you briefly see is branded as the 'Ecto-2'

So heres a quick question, does a old technic turntable (part number: 2855) fit inside here without the cog clashing into the other pieces? I dont have the part but might bricklink it if ut fits.
>>6335783
I donnow, compared to the actual black figs in TLBM she and Gordon looked dark tan.

I don't have those exact parts but this turntable doesn't look much bigger.
>>6336028
Not sure if it can be trusted
>>6336115
click on the hinge and use the "adjust angle by one" arrows on the angle thing to see if it actually does spin around.
Sometimes LDD does the "oh it fits on a step rotation but doesn't fit on a full rotation" thing.
>>6335561

Dusted off the old Exo Suit. Was there a reason they didn't revive the classic space line? I figured with how well the set was received it would've happened
>>6336243
>Was there a reason they didn't revive the classic space line?
Star Wars
>>6336243
It's one thing for a set to sell well, it's another for an entire theme.
>>6336247
I was naive to think that line was on the verge of ending just before Disney bought out Lucasfilm. Now with a new film every year, it'll never end.
>>6336250
Guess so. And it's still available for original price. I remember it selling out everywhere for a short time. They must've overstocked it soon after
Went to Bricks and Minifigs today, got some additions to my Rangers company:
Clifton Heath - excitable adventurer, specializes in tracking down alien artifacts
Yulia - specializes in espionage and infiltration
Maxwell - pencil-pushing agent, really likes his job
Also got a shoulder armor piece and a fucking red motorcycle for my Red Ranger, so he can do breakaway Kamen Rider work.
>>6336263
There was a rumor that the creator caused a scalping frenzy for the first wave of production by getting his circle of insider friends to manipulate social media.
>>6336268
The motorcycle came with a broken cheese (you can't even see it in the photo) but I feel lucky to get the whole thing together. They just as easily could have sold the the two parts of the bike separately and without the light wedges, antenna and kickstands.
>>6336269
>>6336282
You can just barely see the edge of the crack in that pic. Not without zooming in, though.
>>6336282
Cheese slopes and these clips fucking always crack on me.
>>6336291
The only cheese slopes that have cracked for me have all been white. What's up with that?
>>6336291
I have never had a clip break. And I own a lot...
>>6336293
I don't think the plastic's strong enough to withstand connections for long periods of time, cause I only notice it on stuff that I've had built for a while.

>>6336268

>>6336288

>>6336416
Shut up, I like motorcycles! Although I might steal a couple things from that (admittedly very cool) build.
Pic related: I think Yulia is mai new waifig. That skintight cat suit, that slick short hair, those whiplash eyebrows, that zappy space gun! Unf.
>>6336422
>Bad news: It's not a sticker.
are you absolutely sure about that
>>6336426
I tried scratching it off with my thumbnail. There's no edge to catch onto.
I'm pretty sure it's not a sticker.
>>6336434
It is absolutely a sticker. I have that, it's from the Dumpster Fire set.
>>6336434
anon I can see the edges of it in your photos. it's a sticker.
>>6336414
Looks like some sort of capeshit.
It's Silvery Surfing Guy! His powers include hitting people with a surfboard and flashing his alien dick.
>>6336358
Don't worry, it's a meme created as a reaction to hoarders like pic related. Putting them on a baseplate to stand them up is completely normal. Plus your figs are mostly unique instead of being loads of the same character stood in a row.
>>6336451
>It's Silvery Surfing Guy
Close enough. It's Silver Surfer
>>6336466
That would look good as a giant MOC. Maybe some buildings surrounding the scene, a vehicle carrying some commander reviewing his troops, as it is it's boring stuff in boring rows.
>>6336466
>>6336472
You guys just don't understand shit.

Welp, looks like I'm a big fat fucking potato. When I tried to scratch the sticker off, I was just scratching at the surface in the middle (the design) instead of the edges, which I didn't notice until I looked again.
I'm actually a little spooked by how unobservant I managed to be there. Just what the fuck?
>>6336269
That's horseshit. It was speculators who took advantage of AFOLs who read a Reddit comment by the guy at LEGO who prepared the set for release and freaked out. The guy said that the minimum number of sets LEGO would make of an Ideas set is 10,000. Retarded AFOLs all over the internet (including here) took this to mean there was not going to be many made.
So the night they went up on the LEGO shop speculators from Brickpicker etc swamped the website and bought them out, and at stores, to cause a shortage that spiked demand. I used to post at Brickpicker and saw it happening at the time.
The speculators were betting that LEGO wouldn't do a second run because it was an Ideas set(it had happened before early on) so they sat on the sets. Unfortunately for them LEGO did do more production runs so the speculators got fucked over and had tons of stock left over..
Now it's sounding like they're scapegoating the set designer, and I doubt there's any evidence he had anything to go with it.
Are there any good Pirate ships coming out soon?
Not a fan of the new PotC one.

If you ask me, LEGO have gotten worse, much worse. Not from a design point of view, but from a marketing point of view. When I was a kid, LEGO did awesome Castle, Pirates and Space stuff, but nowadays it's LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit, LEGO Pirates of the Caribean, LEGO Ghostbusters, LEGO Toy Story, LEGO Indiana Jones, LEGO Scooby-Doo, I can go on forever how much licensed themes LEGO has made over the years. I understand if some people like those francises and want to combine them with LEGO, and if some people like licensed themes that's OK, but I can never understand how and why a huge company like LEGO who encourages creativity and use of imagination to rely on other's ideas instead of their own. I know they still make City stuff, which I'm not a big fan of anyway, and I also know they have LEGO Friends to appeal to girls, but if you ask me is just a generic appempt to compete with a certain toy line involving colourful horses. I know about the 2015 Pirates theme which I was really happy to see, but it came and went like it was nothing! The closest thing to a new LEGO Castle or Space theme is LEGO Nexo Knights, which is weird to say the least. It saddens me to see a company which created so many of my best childhood memories to be so dependent on licenses and rarely make anything like the good old Castle, Pirates and Space themes, which if they do result it being a licensed theme or something really, really weird.
>>6335700
it would be cool if they based sets on historical moments in history

Lego has improved vastly from the late 90's and early 2000's. I'd say we actually entered another golden age in terms of set quality in the mid-2010s.
Licensing is bloated at the moment, but you seem to be glossing over plenty of other themes. We have modular buildings, sets of a certain quality that we've never had before. We have ninjago and nexo knights, both original themes made by lego. We also have elves.
While lego could certainly diversify the themes more at the moment, the set quality is very, very good.
Also you complain about 'weird' themes, when these embody the creativity you say their lacking. Where's the creativity in spinning out multiple repeats of classic castle, classic space and classic pirates?
>>6336938
all of them
>>6336986
>The closest thing to a new LEGO Castle or Space theme is LEGO Nexo Knights
Nexo Knights is the current Space theme, Elves the Castle theme
>>6337010
but that's a girl theme
I can't be seen liking a girl theme
Talking about girl themes, this set looks pretty cool
>>6337003
That golden age ended a few years ago.
Brick/plastic quality took quite a nosedive (dark brown bricks are supposed to be ticking time bombs and loads of stuff like CMF and soft pieces are made in China and are of lower quality), everything has stickers up the ass now since it's cheaper than printing and the sets may be designed a lot better than what we've got years ago (especially during the Jack Stone years) but ever since they took away the alternative models on the boxes and put in all those odd-colored bricks into the models for god knows what reasons there's this lingering feeling that they're trying to turn single sets into one-way products that specifically represent that model and that model only.
>>6337019
You're already buying toys designed for kids.
Stop bitching around and lose that final bit of dignity already.
>>6337024
What's this? Some sort of gaping vagina?
>>6337026
Stickers were much worse in the 2000s than now. I do think lego is beginning to leave it's second golden age, but only over the past year or two.
Alternative models were cool, but they're hardly some kind of amazing thing. The Bricks still break apart and fit together like they used to, so you can make what you want.
>>6337027
I was being ironic
>>6337026
They still have alternative models on the box, you're just looking at the wrong themes.
>>6336986
I think you're longing for a bit more heart and maturity from Lego. As am I. The problem with the licensed stuff is that it's got no heart, no creativity. It's just half-assed recreations of things we've seen in movies and whatnot. And their original themes like Nexo and Ninjago are aimed at a specific audience, namely 9 year old boys. Thing is, even my inner 9 year old dislikes those themes. He thinks they're corny and "gay". He wants something more manly, like GI Joe.
>>6337030
Yes, the evil vagina-lair to compliment the heroic cock-tower.

Then go to Enlighten:
Hello! My friend wanted to be a designer at Lego but he didn't get the job and he didn't like what Lego has become,so he decided to be a designer for Enlighten.Because Enlighten needs many but many designers he got the job. He told me that he is in a team that's working on a "Aztec Civilization" line. The series is supposed to have giant statue robots,Cyber-Aztec warrior, super advanced temples with UFOs to launch from it,there are also Aztec like aliens and they fight demons that use magical artifacts and vehicles. Another line that he heard is a Dino line,it's steampunk and ia more like "Cowboys vs Dinos".
There are also more Space Adventure sets coming,an CCBS like theme,it's more like Bionicle from 2001 and "VoodooHeads"(He told me about this line,I don't know that much about it) with organic pieces, technic and launchers.
There is also a new firefighters line combined with police,it's about those firefighters fighting fire like creatures/monsters that attack the City. There are also more Cherry sets and an Monster line in the works with more Army sets. That's all what he knows at this moment.Goodbye and have a nice day.
>>6337046

What's your budget? If you're not going to blow big bucks, most of Creator 3 in 1 builds are good. Just don't pick one where you can only build 3 cars or planes. Mixels are solid choice if you can still find them. Because I'm biased, both Nexo Knights and Ninjago are pretty solid action themes, if not bit too vehicle-heavy.
If you don't care of the money, then get a Modular Building. They're big, impressive looking and make a good centerpiece of any collection.

The Cult of Saturn is a secret society that rules the world. You may know them as the Illuminati. They control the banking system and the media, our government is infested with them and the children of our political leaders are married to them. They often place their symbolism in movies, TV shows and music videos... symbols such as triangles, the all-seeing eye, the black cube, and the 6 pointed star.
The black cube represents Saturn, and the 6 pointed star represents the cube.
Star Wars has many Saturn symbols. Some of the helmets that pilots for the Empire wear, such as the Tie Fighter Pilot, have triangles and 6 pointed stars on them, and the Tie Fighter's wings are hexagonal, which represent the 6 pointed star. The Death Star is actually modeled after one of Saturn's moons, Mimas.
Also, the Saturn cult controls the Freemasons, and they are into this weird duality between the colors black and white, and that is why the Stormtroopers are black and white.

There's a police vs. cops theme every year and before NK both of the short-lived castle themes which came after the fantasy one were human vs. human, the one wave long pirate revival was human vs. human, World Racers or whatever the name was had human villains too, if that counts.
Monsters/skellies/robots simply appeal to kids more because why have baddies that are just slightly edgier version of the good guys when you can have snakemen or alien bikers?
>>6337046
How is that different than Nexo and Ninjago in terms of wackiness

Those boxes are okay. They have some nifty pieces, but you also end up with like 2 pink bricks and 2 green bricks and such.
Bricklink is a friend. It's more of a market place, but they also have very extensive catalog of what set contains what.
>>6337155
>make a house with
I'd say go for some of the smaller creator houses and combine them. You'll get doors, windows and lots of similar colored bricks. The creative brick boxes have tons of rainbow stuff so it's hard to make something that looks good from just one.

Military has to be the most autistic and annoying part of the LEGO community. The MOCs never have creativity put into them, the only thing that makes them 'impressive' is their size and amount of minifigs, usually all identical, and the same tank build used a billion times. They are by far the least interesting parts of every expo, yet there's always a trillion autists jerking off on them. Why? Oh wow, another D-Day recreation. I bet this one has 200 minifigs as opposed to the last one that had 150. Amazing. They're an eyesore at this point.

oh shit jungle city hitting store shelves in burgerland
Hello lads, haven't posted my stuff here in ages but curious if some of you remember my mocs. I finished this a few months ago, I started in december 2015. I tried taking photos outside and editing them into black but that would have taken way too long for 25 photos so I keep procrastinating doing another proper shoot. i'm planning on taking some proper photos once and for all this week. any feedback? This thing is flimsy as fuck due to my obsession with making everything as close as possible to the original. The wings can open and close and the front landing gear is fully retractable.
about the rubber band- that was a little cheat that I have fixed since i took this set of photos, the fuselage sides now stay in place without it. Also the little flex tubes that I bent in the back of the engine greebling have also returned to their original shape which pissed me off, I tried melting them in hot water to cast them into shape but it didn't really work.

Just about everything I build is military, though I'm inclined to agree with you to the extent that specifically WW2 military is perhaps the most worn out and overdone genre out there. I mean I'm sorry, but no matter how complex the build, every Sherman tank blends together after a while.
Then again, as someone who builds modern military I suppose the same could be said about the stuff that I build; lord knows how many M1 Abrams tanks there are online. But hey, at least mine has snazzy camo, lel.

I understand some people hate the idea of licensed lego, but really the same argument could be made about sets in general. Licensed or not, Lego know you're going to eventually take those sets apart and make something new. The whole "licensed sets limit creativity" argument seems kinda bullshit to me when you're talking about a product that thrives off instructions.
>>6337003
>Lego has improved vastly from the late 90's and early 2000's. I'd say we actually entered another golden age in terms of set quality in the mid-2010s.
Whilst I agree Lego is at a high, I don't think we can say that for the quality of sets. Fun & unique designs while being both aesthetically pleasing and fun to play with ended a few years ago. Not to say Lego sets are bad, but around 2011 I'd say they were a lot better.

>>6337671
They and Star Wars have the same problem in that they always focus on the same battle: D-Day and Hoth respectively. Once you've seen one or two, you've seen them all, to the point you'd swear there was a standardized set of instructions sitting somewhere that instruct you how to construct Normandy beach down to every last detail.
