Where the rc car thread/ sub forum? I would imagine it in /Toys/

aww lame. no car models or planes on here either, huh?

I own pic related and man do I love this thing. So much aftermarket parts and great drifto.
Also, /toy/ doesn't have a dedicated RC thread. They come every once in a while with about 13 to 20 replies and then die out sadly.

I keep hearing about how these Mini-Z cars are way better than XMODS. How? Part of the reason I prefer XMODS is the customization. No other RC cars I know of offer body kits

Its the whole price and quality idea. Mini-z cars out the box handle great and have decent speed. There are many chassis you can choose from depending what race style you're interested in. Since production is still available theres a lot of aftermarket parts you can choose from. Also every kit comes with a 2.4ghz transmitter which is pretty nice.
X-mods are fun since they are cheaper, the chassis is pretty straight forward to work with and at the time a lot of aftermarket parts for both gen 1 and gen 2 bodies. Only place I can really find things is on ebay. I really like the whole customizing the body idea too. You can build a good xmod that retails for the same price as a stock mini z but in the end its just a xmod.
I own both, and both are fun to drive around on a CRC carpet or free spirited driving on wood flooring.

Unfortunately, the aero styling was really the only thing xmods had going for them. Mini z is better in every other way. I wish someone would remake them with 2.4ghz radios and brushless systems.

Its a real damn shame RadioShack had to kill the line a million times. The NSX kit was pure sex.
Mini z rc cars are gay

Sexy, nice pic
Pure gold
Sadly I ruined the radio and gears a couple years ago and haven't gotten around to fixing it.
Was just looking for an RC thread.
No pilots here? Picked up a Timber recently and have been asking around if anyone else has had to adjust the elevator as much as I have. Fun plane but tries to visit the moon if you don't keep pressure on it.

Could it be a servo malfunction? I've read somewhere that some owners had their elevator servos melt. Also, I'm not that all familiar with planes.
>>6343799
Works fine, the plane just climbs too aggressively, even with a ton of trim on the TX. The elevator wasn't centered when the servo initialized and I had to move the control rod to get it level.
Might need to move it a bit more is all. I think these high wing planes have a tendency to climb when you start getting up over half throttle anyway, mine just seems a bit too enthusiastic.

X-mods are a 1:24 scale radioshack brand that was discontinued. I think they retailed for 50$ back in the day. If you're lucky you can find a new kit for about 80-120$ on ebay. Used ones come with a bunch of aftermarket parts depending on the seller for the same price as a new one on ebay.
Mini-Z's are a 1:27 scale Kyosho brand that are still kicking since kyosho has multiple lines of R/C cars, boats and aircrafts. Depending on what type of racing (drift or circuit) the price varies. A circuit kit goes for about 150$ while a drift kit goes for 200$. Both come with 2.4ghz transmitter. For the price, it comes with a really detailed body, chassis with dedicated race tires, the transmitter, 24 pack of mini traffic cones and spare stock gears and internals (wheel nuts, battery holder clip, screws). And if you're serious on dishing out money in one shot they have fully built chassis that start from 300 to 400$ that include gyros, double wishbone suspension, faster motor, aluminum parts and color.
