Welcome to LEGO General, the thread where everything good was already posted and the memes are still bad. I'm your OP, and boy are we in for a decent thread today! Be sure to attempt that thread challenge. After that you should suggest a fresh new challenge for the next thread.

I'm just gonna leave this in case someone one the thread is in New York too,

Reposting this for shiny and beautiful new thread.
I want to build something like pic related, with both sides fixed instead of flopping around. Any ideas?
>>6327486
Here's my best attempt so far.
I tried something a little different for my latest MOC. Basically just a generic military installation that it'd be fun to pose figs on.
I tried to make this one look like it was taken from a surveillance camera.
>No dual molded legs
>No side printing
>Still has a bad suntan
>No stubble like his picture on the box
FFS Lego, you didn't even try.
>>6327597

Should make a ton of misc cargo crates and boxes to fill up the area. Pic related for some ideas.
>>6327495
That's basically all I could come up with to help you. What about using a 32291 (link below) hold the two on the left and then additional two long spacers (that you're using to hold those steady) to connect another part in front of it?
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=32291&idColor=42#T=S&O={}
>>6327595
>>6327597
It's looking pretty good. I'd for sure add some junk and crates like that other guy said. As for the security camera look, make sure you can't see over the top of the walls. CCTV cameras can't see through walls usually.
>>6327625
I actually had something like that in mind. I like building little pieces of space junk, I figured this'd be a perfect place to put it.
>>6327632
Good to know, I'll keep that in mind.
Explain
>>6327647
1x2 brick on the right is hollow in the core, 1x2 brick with technic hole has extra support because of the hole.
>>6327647
the studs on the one with the hole are hollow, the studs on the normal 2x2 have the lego branding on top?
>>6327659
It's a forgotten amount of space. The Lego logo is pushing on the side of the brick.
>>6327665
the elements should stop being wimps and learn to manage stress
>>6327661
>>6327625
Does anyone have LDD installed? I like to use these for a simple cargo box build:
>48336 (Black 1x2 plate with handle and closed ends)
>61780 (Dark Bluish Grey 2x2x2 Box)
>3023 (Trans-Orange 1x2 plate)
>3068b (Dark Bluish Grey 2x2 tile with groove)
>>6327647
http://bramlambrecht.com/tmp/jamieberard-brickstress-bf06.pdf
>>6327669
Right? But apparently TLC wants all the elements to be special snowflakes.
>>6327671
Handle on top or bottom? (Or both, I guess, if you've got more than one...)
>>6327684
2x2 tile, transparent plate and 1x2 plate form the "cap" of the box.
>>6327691
Looks good to me. I'd build a couple like this, too, because it's exactly four studs wide, so it'll fit nice and snug in a decently-sized cargo bay.
>>6327703
Throwing a 2x2 tile with center stud works well for stacking them, too. Most of my cargo "droids" are designed to grab the handle.

I haven't been able to buy straight peroxide in my area. Everybody only stocks hydrogen peroxide, and when I ask for straight peroxide they just tell me it's right there on the shelf.
Is it possible to order peroxide without the hydrogen online? Like, off Amazon? I've tried looking there but they seem to only have the hydrogen kind too.

>>6328013
Mixing brands is fun anon, try it sometime.
>>6328023
>Are LEGO'S expensive
Lego owns the expensive.
But really, I have people tell me everyday that Lego costs too much. I'm not sure what you're counting as expensive. Polybags are five USD. I'm ok with that being my fix when I'm broke.

>>6328023
If you're just into building your own stuff, you could get Chinese stuff for parts packs.
Gudi is very decent quality. Enlighten is kind of shit.
>>6328023
Yes they are paisano, I live in Sonora and the prices are really high on stores. Sometimes I like to go to flea markets and buy baggies of used random pieces and minifigures. Pic related, my clusterfuck, I need more space now.
>>6328023
Nah, Lego's cheap here in Texas. Even most of the licensed stuff is less than 10 cents per piece.
Hell, it's almost time for summer sets, so lots of stuff is on sale - Jestro's Big Huge Lava Castle of Doom is something like 45% off.
>>6328035
Why do you take so much pride in something that is 90% made of a pre-built structure?
>when a torso is $4+ on cracklink but they have it in the Build-a-Minifig
This was a tremendous help in building up my hospital
>>6328090
>using obvious female torsos on guys
As mentioned previously, they also had white ruffs, which go for a buck fifty a pop on the ol' crackalinka, so I got three of those as well. All in all about 50% off the cheapest I could have gotten things, and I would have had to order from multiple sellers and pay shipping to boot.
The PaB wall had a ton of great stuff, including the white 1x6 panels in the background here. I think I might have gotten about 500 black cheeses.
>>6328092
Funny you should mention that
I'm really happy that Veterinarian Girl's hair is so easy to fee for (it's an obvious bucket-shaped piece with two very pointy tips that are easy to feel through the bag). I'm going to be armybuilding this one and stripping the feminine curves (and ID badges) off of some of them to have a staff of both male and female hospital workers.
BaM also had tennis rackets.

I'm guessing since it's chinese stuff you can only get them from AliExpress. If so, how was your experience with AliExpress?
>>6328119
I've gotten some from ebay, might be worth checking there also.
aliexpress is slow.
>buy something
>ten day standard processing period
>seller marks it shipped on the last day
>tracking number actually shows 'shipped' a week later
on the other hand I've gotten all my stuff so far, eventually, with no problem.
on the third hand I'm still new to it, might be worth asking people in /pbbg/ their experiences, store recommendations etc.
>>6328149
I order shit from aliexpress all the fucking time.
I had one time where I got a minifig I didn't ask for, and I can't be sure that I didn't order that one accidentally.
Either way, it's a 65-cent mistake.

But I'm not a pissy bitch about it, and I'll wait for clearances and other such things
>>6328001
That's a good loking Jokermobile, really love the mouth to store pesky bats in. Does it close?
Why do people like so much Classic Space?
The sets are pretty boring. I liked more Space Police 2010,Mars Mission,GS,AC,etc. Than those themes.
>>6328462
Gtfo Tron fag!
Now,another question:Any news on the SW TLJ sets?
>>6328471
I think it hits their nostalgia button. Usually the people who go after classic space are the older lego fans.
My nostalgia button would be the old aquanaut series, since the solo sub was my very first set
>>6328462
Please, stop ruining Tron for me.
>>6328471
There's a certain comfiness to them. Also the sense of wonder and exploration of space as a new frontier was strong in the times when they came out, so it's inspiring on some level too. Futuron had my first Lego set, so Classic Space is a little before my time, but it still has a similar vibe of setting up a society on the moon or a space station.
>>6328471
Space Police was fucking great, I hope we get something with a similar vibe soon.
What direction should Space go as a theme? I'd like to see something with futuristic buildings like City, but on another planet.
>>6328554
>futuristic buildings like City
It would be part of the City theme instead of Space.
You need action and shit for any other theme. Probably something "original" like Ninjago or Nexos.
Why Lego didn't make X Files sets?
>>6328090
Is the hair in the middle on the left painted black? Never seen em in that color.
>>6328471
You never build one before? Sets are indeed basic, but some stuff they pulled then makes new sets hide in shame.
>>6328554
Space Police and Space Firefighers?
>>6328603
Space Firefighters! Fighting the Fire Aliens! Fire Aliens>Nexo Lava Monsters. Next up...Water Aliens! Seatron! Why it didn't get made that theme? Also,I heard that aliens were planned since the first space police, right?
>>6328609
>Seatron! Why it didn't get made that theme?
It was released as AquaZone.
Also,I heard that aliens were planned since the first space police, right?
Since Seatron, actually.
Does anyone remember Lego dropping the retail prcie of certain sets? Not put a set on sale or give a discount but actually lower the retail cost? Because I've had my eye on this set and recently Lego dropped it from $34.99 to $29.99, and all the sites that sell it have it listed at normal price, not discount. This worries me because I'm wondering why they did this;maybe it wasn't selling well or maybe worse they changed something about the set. Thoughts?

Although X-Files was a great show, its awesomeness might have been difficult for the Lego market to understand.
I mean, Scully and Mulder did in fact spend a lot of time just talking to each other or other people. For a kid tuning in expecting something like X-Men, X-Files was sorely disappointing. (I know, I was that kid.)
Pic related, it's my newly expanded agents lineup.
>>6328768
>/lg/ is at it is lowest
Thanks for improving the thread by posting pictures of your sweet mocs!
>>6328768
Lego Movie-era general was great. Really busy, but everyone was into the spirit of Lego and this lasted a good while. There's a reason the Power Digger became a meme at that time. It was a set everyone could afford with a lot of rebuild value, and it got everyone involved in the fun and the imagination.
One of the big problems is that bootlegs/non-Lego brands are routinely posted here when they have their own general and it causes arguments. Could you imagine if /biog/ did the same as /pbbg/? Whether you like the content of either of those threads, it's irrelevant - this general would be nonstop arguments.
>>6328781
I liked /lg/ better when people ignored the trolls.
>post MOCs
Ok!
>>6328554
Well I'd like some more alien flora/fauna/architecture honestly, but every other thing has already been done pretty good.
Maybe reducing the size of both factions to a small number of characters and place them in more neutral settings. It would be Adventurers in Space, but maybe that's not a bad thing.
>>6328554
I just want Space Police III redone, with more civilian stuff. Space CityTown basically.

Why can't lego make sets like this?
>>6327647
the lego logo isn't inset but protrudes from the surface.
Studs are exactly half a plate high. The lower lip of the headlightbrick is exactly half a plate high.
So the technicbrick, wich is hollow, is flush against the snotted 1x1 brick.
That same technique however can't exactly allign in system on the right because of the aformentioned lego logos on the studs.
Not sure if new or trolling or if i'm a total autist for actually sticking to this rule.
>>6329249
Nice, saved that pic in advance already.
Funnily enough i just got some medieval pieces to work with on a whim last bricklink. I hardly ever do those but i'll cook something up.
>>6329391
builder here, i consider that to be very high praise so i really appreciate that
simple answer though is that LEGO probably doesn't do sets like these because
(a) every set would end up costing $300 and
(b) for licensed sets, they usually only get a bunch of concept art from the studio so they have to work with whatever they have
that being said the gotg vol 2 sets are really quite awful, pic related is i think one of the worst superheroes sets ever made, but of course marvel knows that i'm a whore for minifigs so i fucking bought it anyway

Mexibro here, I usually hunt for offers, it doesn't work always but you can get expensive sets cheaper than usual.Today I got lucky and found this one at Gamers for 592 pesos (33ish dlls).
My Walmart has Jestro's Volcano lair on clearance for $60. Should I get it? I've been kinda back and forth. I don't really have anywhere to put it, but it's over 1000 pieces for under sixty bucks.

>>6329419
>for licensed sets, they usually only get a bunch of concept art from the studio so they have to work with whatever they have
That doesn't excuse original trash, like the Killer Croc/Bat-Tank set.
>>6329830
It actualy does. Not many people knows but it seems Lego (and other manufacturers as well) is often forced to make sets of stuff that was chosen by others. You can see many connections between Lego sets and playsets from other manufacturers - they often work with same meterial.
I stared noticing this in star wars and Disney Princess line.
>>6329656
This looks amazing. It seems from the R-7 family. What is it exactly?

It's a space dildo!
But really, I don't think I based it on any specific Soviet rocket, just a lot of general design elements, I wanted to build a rocket after the Saturn V reveal.

>The tree/stud shooter/debris is a waste of bricks though.
I think it must have got shifted over from the Gamora vs Nebula set.

Well, it looked a lot like a Vostok without payload fairing.

Hoping to build a minifig-scale version of this scene soon.
It was one of the few things that really popped out to me for MOC potential (The other that interested me was the forest scene with Rocket and the Ravagers.)

I guess the point of the set was ravagers vs Rocket with the milano being trashed. The ship being added was a great idea as it let people being able to play out the gamora scenes!

I don't quite get this meme.
It doesn't look like a good set or anything, but everyone holds it up to be terribad. I assume this wasn't in the movie and that's why it seems so stupid?

What about it is good? It's a weird mess of pieces put on wheels
And even the mandarin fig isn't even good

Did a fugly mock-up with what parts I could scrounge to replicate it. Surprisingly, it stays upright. If you nudge it or put it down roughly the engines do droop but they show no sign of dipping if you don't deliberately screw with it. Just ordered the parts. Will share the final product when it's done. Really excited.

Sets like this are small and cheap so they get a pass
mid-price (or high depending on who you ask, and what their value would actually be if they didn't have the licensed character tax) sets like the Milano from GotG 1 are also fine since they take care to offer unique builds representative of their respective movies
The big ugly, stupid clusterfuck sets are the crimes against nature, like whatever the fuck that Doc Ock set is supposed to be, which is a shame because you could turn them into some cool Hydra ships, pic related, that would be topical.
>Doc Ock is now a Hydravenger going by Superior Octopus, so you can add that minifg
>Secret Empire means Hydra ships are especially relevant
>Hydra sets mean we can see some new Hydra minifigs, like Sin, or Zemo and his Thunderbolts

See, the concept of an insertable sex toy made of Lego (TM) brand buildable block toy product is sound, in theory.
In practice, you'd have to deal with the difference in friction between the bricks' clutch and the inner surface of the orifice you're using it in (vadger, poover, muncher, etc). It could be anything from annoying to problematic to painful to have bricks come apart while plunging the Lego (TM) brick block buildable toy product dildolio in and out.
That's why you'd want to put something in place that would keep the construct together as a unified whole. A device uniquely qualified both by shape and by intent would be a standard latex or polyeurethane sheathe d'penor, aka a condom.
This would ensure that even if some of the elements of the construct became detatched, all the parts would be held together as a single more-or-less streamlined body, easily removed from this or that bodily orifice with plentiful mucous membranes.
Help me choose a better hair piece for my Yellow Ranger? I don't want it to be the same as Blue, but I'd like it to be short, if that even exists.

Been collecting a bunch of rebel troops for an endor setting diorama. The Rogue One rebels fit in decently i feel too, giving the "army" a more rugged, desperate and varied look.

My typical LDD rendering method (max screen res, outlines, scale result to 50% for antialiasing like pic related) doesn't handle vertical models well since my GPU/monitor only go up to 2048x1536.
>>6333544
While I'm big space nerd, 120 (+tax and or shipping) is steep for me to buy, plus knowing the cat the set would get knocked over every fucking time. Not to mention I'm a little short on space too (pun not intended.)
I personally would be happy with the landing module.

Nexo Knights. It takes the slot of another theme that could be better.
Unless they give me Mushlord. I want fucking Mushlord.
>>6334176
>Ninjago. It was here enough.
or
>Super Heroes
>>6334176
Nexo, Minecraft and NinjaGo are garbage and need to go.
>>6334176
Super Hero Girls and Disney's Princesses
I'm thinking of doing brickfilms, main thing i'm worried about is lighting/flickering, can I get any advice?
>>6334176
Capeshit and Star Wars. Ninjago maybe, it's had a good run but I'd like some more room for the smaller themes that it keeps overshadowing.
I hope Nexo continues for a while (but it most likely won't) because I think it holds loads of potential as a theme.

>fact is lego designers are better than average joe.
I wish they'd make new Exo Force with these supposed "better than average joe" designers on board this time around.
>>6334249
Did you miss that literary every theme has mechs now? Even Duplo.
Or are you just pissy bitch who wants anime heads
>>6334255
And most of them look quite shit, which is why I said "supposed".
Are lego movie sets really that bad? want to buy that forklift robot and pirate robot
>>6334272
Don't be stupid. If you want to buy something just do it.
>>6334272
>Are lego movie sets really that bad?
literally no one says this
>>6334238
I now have come to the realization that all of Lego's current themes suck, and the only reason I buy their sets is for the figs. Bring back Castle, Galaxy Squad and Agents!
>>6334272
There is just one mediore set - The evil lair. Rest is good and above
>>6334293
it has best kitty though
>>6334176
The one with daft shit like brick-built birthday cakes and photo frames
>>6334176
Superheroes.
as if that'd ever happen, it's probably profitable as fuck.
>>6334176
fucking minecraft of course

You are now aware that the people who made the Lego Batman movie are anti-white male bigots!
Did you know that most of the characters that have positions of power in the movie have brown skin or they're white women?
For example...
Two-Face (aka Harvey Dent) is a District Attorney. He is now black.
Commissioner Gordon is now black and so is his daughter Barbara Gordon (aka Batgirl), who is a police officer.
Mayor McCaskill is a white woman.
Dr Harleen Quinzel of the Arkham Asylum is a white woman.
The security guard for Arkham Asylum is Aaron Cash. He is a black man.
Catalina Flores (aka Tarantula) is a former FBI agent. She is a Mexican.
And now they're even making the police officers brown or female. The upcoming Two-Face Double Demolition set has two police officers, one a black man, the other a white woman.

>Two-Face (aka Harvey Dent) is a District Attorney. He is now black.
>villain
>black
das rasis
>>6334318
YOU are now aware that Harvey Dent was black and played by Billy Dee MOTHERFUCKING Williams in the first burton batman movie.
You are a retard, and im a regular /pol/ user and think that. You have to learn to turn it off man.
10214 or 70810
I can't decide pls halp
>>6334348
Personally I'd go with the Sea Cow. Looks cute and comfy. I've never been one for the architecture sets tho.
Podracerfag again. How illegal is the tile/clip connection here? Should I worry about breakage if I do this? If yes, what are some alternatives with similar results?
>>6334379
Your clips will break. If you want to do this at least use the other ones.
>>6334379
The new clips allow a legal tile connection, but not at that angle.
>>6334379
illegal, for good reason
the other anon's right, those clips will crack. Use these. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=15712

>being retarded on 4chan

>Expecting adults who collect toys to care about anything important.
>>6334176
Those stupid brickheads and ideas. The general public shouldn't be trusted with taste.
>>6334318
This just means that white boys will associate with the main character. While all non-whites are secondary or background. So I could make the argument that it's racist the other way.
>>6334502
As long as it puts money in their pocket without sacrificing normal sets I don't mind it.
>>6334336
Shiiiiiiiet. /pol/ is always right, even when on /lg/...
>>6334216
There was a guy who posted a guide to reduce flickering a while back, it had good tips like don't use florescent lights and make sure your power is steady. Those are things I hadn't thought about. I think you ultimately just need to try it and then do it again better until you're good at it.

Hey, I'm looking to make a tank platoon whose members are somewhere in the range of 5-7 inches long, does anyone know of a good solution for the treads? Open treads, or covered, either's fine, but I'm dead out of ideas.
>>6336585
Ah, thanks. Also, step 3 is where I hit the snag.
