I agree about with wanting to incorporate the vehicle i to the robot design. The thingis the movie designs, especially the AOE ones, were made with virtually no consideration on how to incorporate the altmode into the robot.

The reason almost every movie toy has to flip out of kibble is because there's no physical way to actuall transform in a way that would put even a small portion of the alt mode kibble on the robot. It's a flaw of the source rather than the figure.

I wish these movies had actual toy designers to make the robots. Every time I see a mess of scrap metal float from a maelstrom of nonsense into an indistinguishable robot, I get sick.

I know. it's part of the reason I find ROTF leader Prime so impressive.

It's also why I dislike the new design so much. They do not translate well into toys.
>>
>>6305682
KO company uses the Hasbro molds and either sells them repainted or adds minor/major additions to the mold for improvement.

OP's pic however is not a KO improvement but it's just made by a KO company who made a slightly modified LC Brawl and ROTF Megatron with articulated limbs
>>
>>6305718
So, is this Bonecrusher an improved mold like Brawl or a KO?
>>

Nope, 3P new mold. OP fucked up and used 3P for a mainline general.

One of the earliest Christmases I can remember.

I liked that figure, but I remember being abit bothered that he didn't exactly look like in the cartoon and that his fists weren't really part of the transformation.

I don't get why rubber pointy bits have to be a thing. That shit'll poke your eye out or dent your wall just as hard as regular plastic, only with the added benefit of ensuring your toy will break in about 4-5 years
>>
>>6306330
Optimus... Minor. Unfortunately.
>>
>>6306410
Then there's the fact that it's not consistent. The new Megatron and Optimus don't have rubber nosecones, yet most of the CW jets did for no reason.
>>
>>6306052
And yet Bayformer Optimus has had more character development and personality than anyone in G1?
>>
>>6306424
Kids could throw the plane around to it looks like it's flying, and could poke someone's eye. The kid would have to be a retard to do that, but that's the reason. Why not add those to the new Optimus and Megs? Cost cutting.

Jewing won over rubber.

It comes off easy enough and you can kinda get it to stay on his arm loosely, but it causes stress marks at the clear plastic attachment point and im worried it will break after a few times being pulled on and off, and that's a shame, because i like it as a shield and how he looks with out it stuck to his back. Might mod it.
>>

I also had this, albeit the original release with accurate colors. I'm not a fan of the brick leg trailer with the shitty base gimmick, but optimus is solid, and when the super mode has an actual set of legs via jetfire it's a really solid figure. Sparkplug is also a really great design, way ahead of it's time imo.

Will we ever get a show accurate/masterpiece release of this prime with actual legs for the super mode? I don't really collect transformers anymore, but I would pay any price to have a decent version of this design.

>Thew is probably the only one I watch for pure entertainment value.
I've always liked him, but he's been going downhill. He's trying too hard now, and he's way too scripted. I liked him better when he was clearly just spewing out thoughts, then editing the best ones together.

Also, in his recent TR Voyager Megatron review, I was kind of irked that he defended Megatrons horrific, bland gray plastic, but then complained that the face lacked definition, which is a symptom of the bland, gray plastic.

>>6306447
They're all fucking trash. Autistic manchildren who make 20 minute long videos about shitty retail toys, and blather on and on about nothing anyone gives a fuck about. I also find I can't trust any of them, because I always end up liking toys that people hate and vise-versa. If I need a closer look at a toy, I'll just look up some hi-res pictures.
>>
>>6306990
So beautiful.
>>
>>6307082
His opinions aren't incompatible. You can think unpainted gray on the body works fine while still thinking the face could've used paint for definition. I feel the same way about the figure myself -- the face is the one letdown.
>>

>TRANSFORMING WHEELS

>>
>>6307131
He could have at least acknowledged it. He says the gray plastic is fine, but to bring up the issue with the face is to admit the plastic has a shortcoming, which is that it washes out sculpted details. The way Thew talks about it, he seems to think the face sculpt itself is at fault, which would really be weird, because Hasbro has been all about nailing face sculpts in the past few years, with some exceptions.

And he also states that Megatron is gray. Is this a recent thing? I always saw Megatron as silver, not gray. I thought this was widely accepted as fact.
>>

I think I'm done with BBTS. I bought this one on clearance, but throw in international shipping and they screw me on price every time. And it takes forever to actually get my thing.

It shouldn't take a month for a package to fly across the Pacific, when a passenger plane can do it in 13 hours.
>>
>>6307258

The worst thing I can probably say about Skullface is the guy probably jacks off in the paint department of Home Depot.

Other than that, probably my favorite reviewer because he actually criticizes things rather than going "Well, it's a piece of shit that falls apart if a fly farts within 3 rooms of it, 9/10 must buy.".
>>

I don't think BBTS has any control of shit once it leaves their hands, bro. You need to take your shit up with whatever postal service obviously threw your package into the ocean and didn't give a fuck.

He gets more attention in the original novelization of the film, both in the bumblebee fight, and in the highway chase that featured him for a split second in the film before focusing only on bonecrusher. There's a reason we never saw him again right after bonecrusher transformed. Barricade fought and died as well in that scene, but was cut, probably due to budget issues. To this day, it's a glaring plothole, that pisses me off.
>>
>>6307133
Not to mention dirt cheap for what you get in terms of size and quality. They need to make more heavily retooled KO's, they're sooo much cheaper to create and produce for them, and the savings come back to us!
>>
>>6307284
They should've used barricade in the opening scenes of ROTF, and killed him off then instead of creating a new character, to only be killed off 30 seconds later. Would've been some nice closure.

>>
>>6307397
KOs are hasbro molds and usual discussions is about whether ebay sellers are selling legit. The 3P Bayformers were KO improvemtns and honestly I don't know where they stand.

3P has its own general and thus gets violent reactions from either purists or loyalists.

>>6307397

It's usually the opposite so I have no idea. KO's are getting to the point where they're better than the real thing so who knows.

3P stuff upgrades are usually okay but figures that have official counterparts usually get sour grapes if it looks good or made fun of if it looks like crap. Movie stuff is a new novelty I guess.
>>
>>6307407
>>6307408

What about the Weijang style KO's that refurbish a mold so much it's practically a new thing? Is that 3P then? Why even have two threads? Why not just have Transformers Toys General?
>>
>>6307413
It will trigger the snowflakes. And that would be bad.
>>
90% of 3P shitposting usually stem specifically from MP vs. 3P pissing contests.

E.g., pointing out the fact thay MP Megs and MP Shockwave are grossly inferior compared to their third party counterparts will instantly send Takaracucks foaming at the mouth.
>>
>>6307413

1. The shitposting would destroy all discussion because Transfaggots can barely keep it together with Hasbro vs Takara.

2. There is so much 3rd Party output that it would take up an obscene amount of general discussion over official stuff.

I personally think 3p IS FINE provided its in context, ie what mp36 could borrow from some of the 3p megatrons to "improve" it not "HUR DUR THIS ONE IS BETTER" or just straight up talking about 3p without any mentioning of official stuff.

The ko stuff is another grey line but again depends ie "is xxx ko from this chinese ebay seller safe or do I avoid" and the weijang stuff could count depending on the product ie mpp10 and other upscaled variants from them can be discussed provided its a scale issue someone is asking about ie "i want my mp10 as big as mp01" but nothing oc-ish like their take on megatron (which is a true 3p, its simply too big and not borrowing from anything unless we're talking about what it COULD lend to mp36).

Or to make things easier keep 3p talk to ko stuff, warning people of potential ko's (so official fags don't get salty because who'd want to pay full rrp for something you can get at a quarter of the price yet you got a defective piece of shit from some cunt of a deceiving seller) and "alternatives" (like evasion mode prime too small>go get the weijang)

Its the Australian transformers forums (google "oz transformers, first listing), they have all the legal requirements for owning any of the gun megatrons there if you are in the right state/have the coin.

>traveling to america
>bring home a possibly restricted import

While that dude got lucky its a higher risk, if they catch it in your luggage I HIGHLY recommend you play stupid and let them trash it, don't pull it apart or leave it in botmode (people tried that with pic related, didn't go too well back in the day, mp05 and mp36 come in botmode anyway) as it just means you're highly aware of the nature of it.

You're better off just playing stupid and bring it via luggage or ship it straight to your place, but if you can get it cheaper in the US then shoot, but mind you I'm no lawyer and the forum I mentioned highly recommends NOT to keep it as luggage.

I'm just seeing what premium collectables is doing, had a 10% off voucher and got him for $200, problem is they also have a whole truckload of other shit I po'd off them including mp primal so...I may of lost money unless this month they pull off a miracle.

I'd buy that mold as a lot of things. Dai Atlas would definitely work well.
>>
>>6308096
>Dai Atlas would definitely work well.
All he'd need is a new head (a non-issue given how 'heads' are kinda the focus of the line) and a drill attached to his nosecone.
>>
>>6306330

This badass mo'FO. Never had Optimus during G1; when I got back into TFs in 2011 this was the one on the shelves. Still really fond of him, although MP-10's leading my Autobots now.
>>
>>6308105
>a drill attached to his nosecone.
Derp! I just looked at the original Dai Atlas and I completely fucked up. It's the tank which need a dril, not the jet.
>>
>>6308005
I kinda want one because I have a YOTS Omega Supreme with nothing to combine with.

Ha, just decided to try to get one at TFNation.
>>
So my local Target didn't get any TLK stuff yet but they did have some of the new RID Warriors and decided to pick up Soundwave.

Excellent choice, I happened to pick up Soundwave today as well and he is magnificent.
Almost got Skywarp too, but the hollow legs and blocky wing underside bother me a bit too much.
>>
>>6308165
I recently got the starscream of this mold and he is fun. I agree thr under wing blocks kinda suck but they at least fit flush and dont patrude. Transformation is really neat though.

G1 from the 90's that I end up throwing away because we immigrated to a different country and I wasn't into toys at that time. I threw 99.99% of my toys and kept 1 which was a birthday present of my grandmother that I still have to this day that I got extra parts so I could repair it.

He was my second and third too but the next Optimus I would get (kinda) was Power Master Optimus Prime. It had just come out in the U.S. and my uncle got him or me at Walmart. I've always had a soft spot for PM Optimus.

When does TLK Voyager Megatron come out?

And is there another Deluxe Bumblebee coming? Because he sure as hell doesn't look like his current toy in the movie.
>>
>>6308282
Yes there is going to be a second Bumblebee that looks closer to how he will look in the movie complete with a swappable arm cannon
>>
>>6307855
He is. The back kibble is unfortunate, but other than that he's great. The accessories work, integrate well and most don't need to be removed to transform him.

He has flaws, but he's just an all round fun figure. Best deluxe Barricade mold.
>>
>>6307515
Literally nothing makes that work.
>>
>>6308316

That's Super-Con Optimus Prime, right?
I've had my eye on this fella for a little while.

>>6306330
Pic related was my first Optimus. Great robot mode (minus the back kibble), but his altmode sucks. Those articulated fingers make up for it, though. He's got some fantastic poseability. Still wouldn't mind an updated Transmetal-like Primal some day. But the current toyline is too obsessed with cartoon accuracy. I just want good toys!

Got FOC Optimus Prime not long after, wasn't impressed with him either. It's so small, I can't see how it counts as a Deluxe. His head's the size of the nail on my pinky finger. Tiny.
>>
>>6308379
How can you hate that gorilla mode? It's most well-articulated gorilla and I think he looks great.

The wide eyes and aesthetic focus on curves throughout the shape of the skull and facial features are meant to imply youth.

You see a lot of similar design in TFPrime's Bumblebee.
>>
>>6308010
I'm fully expecting a 3P upgrade kit that rectifies this. I'm happy that the roof comes off, but it really needs a proper handle for Barry to hold on to.
>>
>>6308408

The problem is it instead implies some kind of deformed skullface. He almost looks like a Warhammer 40k Chaplain.
>>
>>6308105
>>6308115
Hopefully Takara will provide.

Then again, I'm still waiting for a redeco of Alpha Trion that becomes Victory Leo, so I could be waiting a while.
>>
>>6308292
I really love the Camaro altmodes, but that head, man. Not muh Bumblebee.

He'd make a perfect Goldbug, though.
>>
>>6308383
Mostly because it doesn't actually look like a gorilla.

If they did something about the colours (or lack thereof) and changed the gorilla face a little, he'd be my favourite Primal by far.

He just looks like a guy with a bushy beard to me.

I'm totally getting MPM4 to replace him though, but it'll be weird putting him away after a decade.
>>
>>6308474
Even though he doesn't look much like the movie model, that's still a cool figure. A lot of movie 1 figures hold up as toys, even if they aren't perfect replicas

I got a grey one of these friends from an expo, his head is on a very tight ball-joint and prefers to look slightly to his right rather than being centered. How can I fix this, and who is he? He's grey and purple and his head looks like Tarantulas.
>>
>>6308474
His transformation is accurate to the scene when Optimus gets into the city and transforms and does that flex pose.
>>
>>6308379
He'd be better if he was Transmetal colour accurate.

I washed my recently-acquired Kreo b/c they were used

Put them in a tin and filled it with soap water, rinsed a few times and I'm toweling them out

They have some grey stains/residue that seens to wipe off, is that just moisture or is it dust? Looks like the sort of weird grey stuff you get from washing stuff, but I rinsed them 3-4 times

The back piece hinges are what scuffs the sides of the head so if you do that step before sliding it past his noggin it won't scuff. Of course you can always just file that shit down so you never have to worry about it again.

>Best deluxe Barricade mold.
Would you say he's really better than any of his other releases?
>>
>>6308618
A bit of bias since Barry only has one mold of his new form but I think because his gettup is the most police motif the TFverse has had, TLK Barricade is better, even with the unintentional riot shield.
>>
I just realized, can you even roll the Sixshot tank mode without the chest getting in the way? It doesn't' seem possible for the tiny wheels could work.
>>
>>6308637
Was asking because everyone in thread keeps talking about Barricade and now I want one I guess and was wondering if the new one would be the best way to go. I kinda like the looks of the HA one but its fucking expensive now.
>>
>>6308660
I'm waiting for a slightly better repaint for Barricade. I can go for the kibble on his back but his grayed parts with white weapons is just boring to look at, not to mention the slapped-on police on his shoulders seems cheaply done.

The sad part is we might get a better painted one in the future but replacing "PUNISH AND ENSLAVE" with HAIL MEGATRON"

Nitpicking tho

If you want something with good engineering you'll want the HA Barricade. I think people are over-hyping TLK barricade because of the novelty of the design.

And yup, pretty much any HA toy is expensive as hell now since most of them are considered to be the best versions of their characters.
>>

>I'm waiting for a slightly better repaint for Barricade.
I was really hoping we'd get a perfect Voyager scale one but I think that's a dream atm.

What is that?
>>
>>6308871

Molds are big metal blocks that they dump the plastic into. With enough use without retooling, the mold degrades, which causes the plastic parts to come out too tight, not tight enough, the wrong shape, tolerances to be off, etc.
>>
>>6308530
Could be dust left over from the rinsing. You need to scrub them with an old toothbrush. Or, it could be dried semen.
>>
>>6308687
Novelty goes a long way for me. Whenever I look at a new toy, I ask myself, "Am I really gonna buy ANOTHER robot that turns into a car?" Most of the time, this causes me to give up on the purchase because the toy just doesn't stand out enough. TLK Barricade passes the test though.

It's quite fun to use his brass knuckles to ORAORAORAORAORAORAORA a piece of styrofoam.
