Transformers general-WHY THO edition

I think I noticed a slight issue with LG Highbrow.

The little nub on the helicopter cockpit that's supposed to tab into the headmaster port in vehicle mode is very slightly larger than an actual headmaster head, so it stretches it out the clip slightly, which in turn makes it not grip actual headmaster heads that well and doesn't help with the wobble situation.

Since the LG version is packed in heli mode it gets all the time in the world to stretch out that little clip, whereas the TR version ships in robot mode and probably wouldn't be stretched out at all. I'd wager TR Highbrows generally have more secure heads than LG Highbrows because of this.

Nope, TR Highbrow is a big offender right out of the packaging, just like Scourge that doesn't even have that peg. I agree about maybe wanting to make the peg smaller though.

It's not an issue of remaking the molds perfectly, it's a matter of spending $10,000+ to make the molds again. If it comes down to remaking a mold that can only be used for ONE obscure character (Dai Atlas) to making a new mold that can be used for SEVERAL characters (like a new Sideswipe mold), the old degraded mold isn't going to get redone.

Bought something that I never thought Id ever get. MP Ultra Magnus! On Mandrake, Open box at only 10000JPY!
However, shipping to Canada cost a whopping 5200JPY. The bright side is no customs fees and the thing came in 3 day or 4 days!

I'm pretty happy with it. Sure, it was expensive but I don't regret a single cent. I basically saved around 100$CAN over the normal price, counting all the fees. So that's quite a win!
>>
>>6309566

Nice, how do you like it so far?
>>
>>6309596

Pretty awesome. And BIG! More easy to transform than anticipated. Arms sleeves pegs a bit loose but so far, I'm very satisfied. Sure, the shipping cost was a bummer but the box was HUGE, well padded, and came in 3 days. So I can't complain.

The real problem is to find room to display him...

I'd forgotten how much I enjoy non-standard transformers. This kind of stuff is always the best. I also enjoy tanks a lot, too. Tankbots are always fun. Perceptor's headmaster connector was also hellishly tight too, the same way Sentinel/Astrotrain's is. I gotta figure some way to loosen it a bit, I felt like I was going to bust it getting the neck out. They really need to get their factories sorted out and get tolerance issues fixed, it's a bit embarassing at this point.

Yo, /toy/, I've been binging on Transformers toys lately and I want to get a Soundwave. I could get the old Masterpiece one for like 200 bucks, or I could get the titans return one for like 40 bucks.

Is the titan master one any good? I might end up saving for the other one anyway at some point and give the lesser to my nephew but I don't want to waste money on it if it's not worth it.

Basically, do any of you guys have either of them? What are your impressions of them?

Yeah the TR Soundwave is the TR Blaster remold/paint, and TR Blaster was really good. The MP Soundwave is flat out better, but it is a bit disingenuous to compare a $150 collectors toy with a $45 kids one. Also, Amazon might have the TR Soundwave on sale.

Similar. The MP is better of course, but if you can't (or don't want to) afford the MP honestly the TR is a pretty good substitute. He definitely has a lot of play value.

I just personally find the G1 look a bit dated.

I'd rather have something that evokes the spirit of the character, while trying new things.

And it wasn't that bad, actually. BBTS had Starscream on clearance, and I got Rodimus from Hobby Jungle Japan. He didn't come with the comic book, and was a good $100 cheaper than eBay.

Rodders took like 4 days (including weekends) to arrive, too, which was pretty great. Meanwhile Starscream took over a month.

All plastic, except for the nosecone.

What they don't tell you in the reviews, though, is that the nosecone and tank turret are fucking awful to position in robot mode. And the turret is on a REALLY stuff joint, and every time I try to swing it out of the way, I'm afraid I'm gonna break it.

But I'm glad I got it. You can't see it in the photos (crappy phone), but the red parts are done in this GORGEOUS metallic red, and he's a surprisingly solid toy. Considering the mold is only 3-4 years old, it is crazy the difference you can feel when you hold it, compared to a TR fig. CW Ultra Magnus feels really flimsy in comparison (and that's only 2 years removed from Generations Blitzwing), as does TR Alpha Trion.

I forgot how solid Transformers toys could be.

grow up! those "bootlegs" tend to have quality beyond takara, and are often desigend with the MP style collcetor in mind, the only thing that is a valid reason not to is you either not wanting to have unofficial, (which, then you shouldn't want any repurposed characters as well, or fan modes.) not liking the designs, or being too poor.

I bent a 5mm styrene tube into 'C' shape, with the base flattened. It's attached to the shield using acrylic foam mounting tape.

If you've bent styrene tubes before you'll know how tricky that is and you can see that my bends weren't the prettiest. It might be best to 3D print it if you have access to that.

I'm sure MMC will get around to comic Galvatron at some point. And yeah FP makes stuff still. But I do agree there has been a weird shift to MP stuff in the last year or two. Dunno why either, especially when so many of these MP-sized things aren't in an MP aesthetic.

I really hate to be a complainer, but

>comic Galvatron
I'm sure there are folks who appreciate it, but I vastly prefer G1 cartoon Galvatron. I might give in and just "settle" for Sovereign at this rate. Or pray a Galvatron General falls into my fucking lap.

I may not like it, but I think I understand the popularity of the MP scale, at least. You have a bit more freedom in engineering since you can go with smaller parts relative to their size without making fragile shit, plus they make great display pieces being big and noticeable and all.

I forked over the cash for MP-36, and despite the hiccups and a particularly nasty nick on the shoulder from a pin sticking too far out, it looks damn nice and imposing.

...Still planning to pick up TR Megs for my new Decepticon leader, though.

There is almost no doubt in my mind that HasTak are going to retool TR Galvatron with a proper head/no Titan Master gimmick.

It would be very easy to do- for all the TR voyagers in fact. The popup 'helmet' could just be replaced with a proper head and the transformation would be totally unchanged.

But they're cute! Help!!
>>
>>6311655

Just buy a TR figure instead. Then you get a whole, actual figure plus a mini-dude who can interact with the entire current line of TR stuff, rather than a minifig that interacts with precisely nothing.
>>
>>6311655
Consider
>how much you like each other
>how expensive they are to you
>the fact that you'll need to multiply their cost by like 20x because they come in "I swear it's not gambling" meme packaging and you might need to buy a shitton to get what you want
>>
>>6311664
How much you like each one*

Because you'll probably be getting most of them.

there is a little transparent hole in the back of the bag, if you move the fig over to that spot, you can at least see the color of the figure inside

>TF shoots Xeno
>Xeno vaporized entirely because TF's are goddamn gigantic and shoot lasers meant to kill other gigantic, tough machines, while Xeno's are tiny and organic

This would be a more likely thing. Also most of such a crossover would probably be xeno's terrorizing the human (or alien, whatever) populace and the TF's trying to stop them. Probably ending in a fist fight between Optimus and a Queen.

And how the fuck can a robot be gay? They don't have any genitals.

The roof doesn't really seem to mess with movement too much while on, really, though the tire-wing things on his shoulders sorta collide with it in the farther reaching poses. Taking it off does help the backwards movement of his legs, though I personally don't see why he'd need to put his legs back that far.

Why would I want to buy a figure of a series I never saw when I could buy a toy that is an update of a toy I've had since childhood and also more closely matches the current comics that said character is featured in?
>>
I can't remember who it was but I remember watching some reviewer who basically said he was hasbro's whiteknight because he had connections and understood every decision they made with engineering
I remember seeing him write basically a 5 page essay every comment as to why Takara is worse than Hasbro

Well that's dumb.
Gay people shouldn't be allowed to read comic books.

Especially not comics about war and other manly things.

They should consume sissy media, like shows about Kendal Jenner and drag queens.

Them being gay actually makes more sense when you read the Arcee one-shot and it explains that she's crazy because
Jhiaxus arbitrarily decided to introduce gender to their race and 'she' was the first test subject. This doesn't really explain how other femmebots exist, unless they were all modified the same way which one would expect to lead them all to be similarly traumatized but that doesn't seem to be the case.
That said, you're being way too uptight about this. The comics are actually pretty enjoyable. Thundercracker's basically write human fanfiction, a bunch of misfit decepticons are paling around with a brain-damaged Grimlock helping him get his marbles back, Prime's fucking everything up, and Soundwave is building a communist utopia.
>>
>>6311885
they retconned Spotlight Arcee because it was fucking retarded.

>>6311886
Oh, good. That makes sense, anyways, since it was her memory and she's barking mad, so her being wrong is perfectly reasonable.

They used to do it all the time not too many years ago. Just take a tiny bit less profit. They can still take in more than they spent to produce. Thier Broad of Directors don't really need another ivory back scratcher. Hell, they fired a shitload of people a few years back. Take the money they saved not paying them and put it toward increasing the quality back to acceptable levels.

Now they're giving us less and charging us more. And that's not the way it's supposed to work.
