They should stop trying to do photorealism with their live action dolls.
Unless they start casting really flawless 10/10 actress like Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly.
>>
>>6300169
>10/10 actress like Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly.

Not gonna happen. Dead actresses don't bring in the dosh like flavor of the month nerd movie.

Paradoxically, A Barbie Collector version of Hepburn or Kelly would do good. Both actresses have a broad name recognition. Mattel can crank out the dolls en masse to be cheap enough for normie collectors. And they can easily be sold in B&M stores.

Hot Toys is far more niche. Their prices and production count turn off all but the most hardcore & rich customers. And while your grandma doll collector knows Grace Kelly, she doesn't know her Iron Man Mk. 23 from Iron Man. Mk. 38.

New Wonder Woman gift set.

I think Steve's thousand yard stare is unsettling and the outfit Diana's wearing is really boring. Not worth the $125 in my opinion.
>>
>>6300658

And just for contrast, the mass market 2 figure set for $30 at most stores...

I don't think cloth pants & shoes for Steve really justifies the extra $95.
>>
>>6300674
I like the collector set a lot more. The clothing on the $30 set (which isn't regular doll sized) is blah.

>>6300658
Anyone know if mattel just might cheapen out and recycle the Star Trek Chris Pine doll for this one? I can tell they have the special Wonder Woman body from last time for this piece, but will Steve's body be as articulated for that price?
When are all the deluxe wonder woman dolls meant to roll out and where? I never saw the BVS Wonder woman in regular stores except for an HEB.
>>
>>6300935

IMHO, I like the $30 set more.

I prefer cheapo Steve's facesculpt as the collector's version looks a bit samey to a generic Ken doll head. I also like cheapo Steve's outfit compared to the collector's drab green outfit. But those damn molded on pants makes it a moot point. Maybe if I could find a spare Fashionista Ken body to transfer cheap Steve's head onto...

As for Wondy, it's mostly a choice between sculpt vs. articulation. The collector's version has an articualted MTM body, which is nice. However, the cheap Wondy has the all-new muscular female body buck, which is a far better fit for an amazon. It's really unlike any fashion doll body Mattel has put out since. Again, the collector's headsculpt is too doll-like. Cheapo's clothing is cheap, which is the only major downside I can see. But she does come with a sword!

Yeah, I really can't see me paying four times as much money for the collector's set when the standard 2-pack is just as good. For just about the same amount as the collector's version I can get the standard 2-pack AND Mr. Crystal Cavern King in OP's pic to play with my new Amazon princess.
>>
>>6301074
Sculpt looks different to me.
>>
>>6301074
>When are all the deluxe wonder woman dolls meant to roll out and where?

Supposedly WW herself is already out since the 5th of April. The Queen and the archer gal are to be out by May 1st. The Steve Trevor 2-pack will be out by June 2nd. Of course, these are release dates, so your mileage may very if you're hunting them down in the stores.

Speaking of stores, I would look for them online first, TRU second.
>>
>>6300658
In the last thread someone linked an article about the ever dropping Barbie sales...

But look no further than this: Literally aimed at "collectors", likely adults, with a MTM body and simple clothes for a price tag of 125. It's laughable, are they expecting adults to consider each of these meadiocre dolls worth about 62 so they can keep on realying in profiting and paying licenses for mediocrely done dolls?!

Cause it's Mattel + Barbie + Wonder Woman, so I'm sure nobody will resist this amazing set, hm?!

I've yet to see the wonder woman movie collector doll out - it must be bought up fast or they dont have a set up. They still have the BVS one at the place i went to buy it cause no one else wanted to spend 40 to 50 on it. My Tru also has the BVS one but it's pretty banged up - and it's not marked down still.
>>6301121
Was more a joke on Mattel wanting to cheapen out stuff...
>>6301166
It is def starting to feel like it - but it reminds me of how Marvel characters are getting new figures every new movie. You can pick up a piece that has a SLIGHTLY different outfit. Mattel is going whole hog cause they have Wondie in a number of things - the movie and their DC teen series.

Really? I can actually see Chris Pine in the Collector one, the cheap set just looks like a random male.

The collector one foes look a bit generic Ken doll, but Chris looks like a generic Ken doll. The cheek bones are too defined on the cheap one, the chin also looks too pointy.
>>
>>6305525
The chin, eyes, and hairline are off on the collector doll but it's nothing a little paint can't fix.
>>
>>6303402
>>6305525

It doesn't look like Chris Pine because Matty deliberately sculpted the face to NOT look like Chris Pine.

Big time celebrity charge big bucks to have their faces on something, like a doll or action figure, even if it's part of a movie like WW. Chris Pine's agent got him a stipulation that he'd get a royalty fee for every thing that has his face on it connected to the WW movie.

So to skirt around paying this fee, Matty made both the cheap & collector tier Steve Trevors to look vaguely like Chris Pine, but not enough that could get sued for it. It's also probably why the two Steves' head sculpts are so different. Rather than have one movie accurate Chris Pine head for both, two different sculptors in two different doll departments sculpted two different vaguely Pine-ish heads.

Pic related. Hasbro was willing to pony up the royalty cash for GoT2 accurate Pine head.

I think that what he's trying to say is pretty obvious. He's saying that the only reason she got a doll made of her while other more iconic people have been over looked throughout the years is for the same reason Pepsi recently did that Kendall Jenner tv ad that got pulled. He's saying that the only reason Mattel made the doll is because they are pandering to the SJW community that's still mad that they didn't get their first feminist president Hilary doll. Just like Pepsi, Mattel is releasing a product for the vegan Hipsters that jizz at the sight of diversity in the doll aisle.

Oh. If so, what a dumb thing to say. She's getting a doll because for the past few years Mattel has created OOAK collector dolls based on modern women who are breaking boundaries in various mediums (sports, ballet, directing, etc) and the dolls which get the most requests and petitions are those that get wider releases.
>>
>>6310256
>why is a random gymnast
>random gymnast

Mary Lou Retton was well-known in the 1980s. The concept that the Gabby Douglas doll was originally created for is for contemporary women doing stuff... right now. And as for "But why not _____"? There are thousands of women who aren't getting dolls, so I don't see the point in whining about so and so not getting a Pink Label doll.

>And why her and not some other female athlete, like Venus & Serena Williams?

Because Gabby Douglas is more popular with little girls than Venus and Serena Williams, and because Gabby Douglas just did all of this in 2016. When they released the OOAK Gabby Douglas doll last summer, Mattel got flooded with requests for them to make it available for purchase.

>>
>>6310279
>And what boundaries did Gabby Douglas break
>>first African American in Olympic history to ever become individual all-around champion

The line is for people who are breaking boundaries in contemporary society, not 30 years ago.
>>
>>6310277

No, Gabby won most of her individual medals in the 2012 London games. Simone Biles was the individual American gold medalist winner in the 2016 Rio games. Simone is more recent Olympic gymnast winner and she set an American record for most gold medals in women’s gymnastics at a single Olympic game.

Why isn't the most recent gymnast champ and Olympic record breaker getting a doll? Is it because her face is not as pretty as Gabby's or something?
>>
>>6310291

So she's getting a doll because of the color of her skin and not because of her achievements? Das racist bro.
>>
>>6310294
>Why isn't the most recent gymnast champ and Olympic record breaker getting a doll?

Because Mattel already made a Gabby Douglas doll in summer 2016 before she headed to the 2016 Olympics, at which point she was already popular with little girls, having broken records at the last games when she was only 16 years old. When they released the OOAK doll, people freaked and flooded Mattel with requests to make her available for purchase. It would have been dumb for them to turn around and make a Simone Biles doll instead. As for why Gabby and not Simone... why Misty Copeland and not Michaela DePrince? Why Emmy Rossum and not Pink? Why Trisha Yearwood and not Shania Twain? There's a million reasons why Mattel makes the choices they do. Marketability, visibility, willingness to release appearance rights, etc.
>>
>>6310299
>So she's getting a doll because of the color of her skin and not because of her achievements? Das racist bro.

She's getting a doll because she's a woman who broke boundaries. If you have a problem with people recognizing that black athletes, black dancers, black directors, etc, are breaking boundaries then maybe you should find a different thread.

Funny that you didn't have a problem with a white woman getting a doll because of her gender, tho.

What boundaries? There have already been African-American gymnasts who won medals in past Olympics, such as Dominique Dawes and Betty Okino.

And what about Amy Chow, who is certainly the first and so far only Asian-American gold medal gymnast in the Olympics. Why hasn't she gotten a doll if she broke the boundaries of her race?

And let's not forget Gabby's fellow teammate, Laurie Hernandez, who is the first Latin-American on the team and won a silver. Where's this boundary breaker's doll? Or does no one care that you broke a racial boundary if you came in second?

Giving Gabby a doll simply because of her skin pigmentation and won a gold medal is pretty damned racist. Especially when you ignore gymnasts like Chow & Hernandez who broke boundaries in their own respective races.

FUN FACT: Sara Robles was born with Madelung's deformity, which means her wrists are severely crooked. This leads her to have excruciating pain every time she lifts, bro.

And yet weightlifting is her life. She won an Olympic medal doing it. And she's a heavyweight, meaning she's lifting 300+ lbs. All while in pain at the most delicate part of your body while lifting.

Now that's damned motivational! But we're never going to get an inspirational doll of her because she's fat, ugly, and not the first Olympic winner of her skin tone.

>What boundaries

Again... since you can't read:

>first African American in Olympic history to ever become individual all-around champion
>first American gymnast to win gold in all-around and team competition at the same games

>Amy Chow

She competed in 1996 and 2000. That's 17 and 21 years ago. Not contemporary enough to the target market.

>Dawes and Betty Okino

Competed years and years ago. Not contemporary enough to the target market.

>Laurie Hernandez

She won in August 2016. The original Gabby Douglas Barbie was premiered in July 2016, before they went to the games. This announcement included a video campaign and was, at minimum, 6 months in the making.

Again, the line is for contemporary women who are breaking boundaries in recent/contemporary memory. The line is not all-encompassing women throughout history. Which would be cool, because god damn I want a

Gabby has a doll because she's a contemporary gold medal winning Olympic gymnast who broke boundaries and is popular with children and pre-teens, whom Mattel is targeting with their Pink Label releases from the broader Sheroes line. Mattel isn't ignoring these other women, they just don't fit the concept of this line.

Now before you go "BUT WHAT ABOUT __________" remember

-The Sheroes line is for contemporary women who are breaking boundaries in contemporary society and, on a broader scale, who are associated with or actively do work related to empowering women.
-The Sheroes line is usually OOAK except for the dolls that get the most requests/purchasing buzz, in which case they make it to a wider release. Both Misty Copeland and now Gabby Douglas dolls are Pink Label, since people complained when Mattel made the Ava DuVernay doll for sale only as Platinum Label, so less than 1000 pieces worldwide.
-The dolls which are released Pink or other Label for sale, rather than OOAK, need to be contemporary and marketable enough to the target market.
>>

Thank goodness your overlords censored that wrong think!

>Mattel isn't ignoring these other women, they just don't fit the concept of this line.
Because they're either too fat, too ugly, or too old. Only pretty people should be rewarded for breaking records.

>Misty Copeland
Who? And yes, I just googled her. She's a ballet dancer who's more famous for being a "first" for her skin color rather than her talent.

>Ava DuVernay
Another "who?" and another "first" for her skin pigment. I'm seeing a trend...

>need to be contemporary and marketable enough to the target market.
IE: Young & pretty girls in the headlines only please. Matty cares more about money and virtue signaling than actually promoting notable women.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mae C. Jemison, first AA woman in space, has done more to help humanity with her Nasa work, Peace Corps work, and nine doctorates than the three named trollops in the athletics & entertainment fields. Oh, and Mae is also an accomplished dancer & actress. So there's there's that.

But does this uber-woman who's breaking the boundaries in important "boys only" STEM fields is getting a doll? Nooo! More ballerinas & gymnasts, because little girls prefer that. How fucking sexist is that? Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining, Matty.
>>
>>6310525
So basically

>wah wah wah I've been told how the line works and I'm just going to complain about it11!!!!!

And oh yes, I'm so sure you knew aaaaaaallllllllll about Mae Jemison and wouldn't be saying "literally who?" if she had a doll made.
>>

>the three named trollops in the athletics & entertainment fields

Interesting that you don't think Mary Lou Retton isn't a trollop, but the black athletes are. Gee, what could the difference be? Could it be that you're a racist fuck shitting up this thread? I wonder!

>Who? And yes, I just googled her. She's a ballet dancer who's more famous for being a "first" for her skin color rather than her talent.
>Who?
>documentary film
>multiple books
>wide press coverage
>works with charities and children's organizations to help black dancers who often struggle financially and otherwise with ballet

If Jemison got a doll before Misty Copeland, you'd be saying "Who?" to Jemison.

>another "first" for her skin pigment. I'm seeing a trend...

Yes... that's the point. I'm so glad you understood that Mattel is celebrating black women who break boundaries! Copeland was promoted to principal about a year too early IMO, but her recent performances are fine and in some cases exceptional (her Juliet is one of the best at the American Ballet Theatre) and her success is hugely inspirational to young black dancers who often feel as if they shouldn't bother pursuing ballet because of their race. If you're a racist, then yeah, I can see why you'd have a problem with Mattel celebrating that.

Who knows? Maybe Mattel will do a Jemison doll. In fact, they've actually included and celebrated Jemison in an recent official Barbie video as part of their You Can Be Anything campaign. But the fact is: Mattel is a company. So, yes, they are going to do a ballet doll and a gymnast doll based on popular celebrities that children admire and look up to, guaranteeing sales, before others.
>>
>>6310245
The sad thing is Mattel keeps trying to market to millenials and kids by trying to please media hipsters without realizing that they aren't even 1% of Americans, despite owning 99% of big websites. I wish Mattel would focus on making the best dolls instead of chasing gimmicky fashion designers and BuzzFeed's favorite celebrities of the week. But at least this doll will make a lot of little girls happy after it ends up $8.99 on Amazon. Me too, I'll buy several for the bodies.

>If Jemison got a doll before Misty Copeland, you'd be saying "Who?" to Jemison.
Jemison has done actual work that has helped humanity as a whole. Peace Corps, Nasa, STEM, etc. Misty is a dancer who entertains. Why is the entertainer getting a doll over the woman who helped the world?

And that's my main argument right there! It ain't about the skin color. It's about who has done more and affected people more. Just look at what professions these "sheroes" have:
>A gymnast.
>A ballerina.
>A director.
All have inconsequential jobs that are attractive to little girls. Them being the first to do something because of their skin tone is secondary to that. Matty knows girls won't buy science lady, despite the big push to get girls into STEM fields. Matty hides that fact by promoting that these entertainers are the first in their respective fields, thus giving Matty an excuse to sell what little girls really want and a nice virtue signalling to boot.

Matty doesn't care about inspiring girls or celebrating women who really achieved something at the end of the day. They just care about money.

Oh, and for a good contrast on the boy's side of the toy aisle, there's the GI Joe Historical Collections.

These were made back in the 1/6 scale Joe's heyday. From the late 90's to early 2000's. Lots of important and brave people were made. Famous guys like John F. Kennedy, Patton, Teddy Roosevelt, and Washington. And also some not-so famous guys like Francis Pierce, John Fox, and Mitchell Paige. All Medal of Honor recipients.

Take good Ol' Ernie Pyle here. He's an old guy that most kids never heard of. No cool gun. Just a typewriter. And Hasbro had the balls to sell him at brick n' mortar stores for $20. All the Historical Collection figures were available for kids to buy at stores. Not web exclusive, and not under a "adult collectors" label, which Matty is doing with their "Sheroes" line.

It's like Hasbro cared more about introducing boys to real-life role models from our past than Matty cares about introducing girls to whatever pretty faced woman makes headlines today.
>>
>>6310905
I think Matty shits its pants in glee every time they find a "safe" modern celebrity they can use. But I am kind of surprised they didn't license some gold label Hamilton dolls. That was peak megahype last summer. They could have sold them in-theater, anybody walking in the door is already full of cash. Now there's been the inevitable controversy, so it can never happen.
>>
>>6310921
>It's like Hasbro cared more about introducing boys to real-life role models from our past than Matty cares about introducing girls to whatever pretty faced woman makes headlines today.
>whatever pretty faced woman makes headlines

I love how you have to diminish these athlete's accomplishments to make yourself feel better. Never mind that one is a multiple gold medal winning athlete, she's just a ~~pretty faced trollop~~. Nevermind that both are inspirational to young girls, nevermind that both carry the message that you can be anything, that hard work and dedication can result in success. Just black trollops, according to you.

>GI Joe Historical Collections
>Historical Collections

By jove, it's almost like it was a line aimed at producing historical figures--which the Sheroes line isn't! It's almost as if... they're two separate lines with separate purposes. Holy shit. I'm stunned that they produced different dolls.

>Not web exclusive, and not under a "adult collectors" label, which Matty is doing with their "Sheroes" line.

Gabby Douglas and Misty Copeland aren't web exclusives. Barbie's Pink Label is the lowest collector label priced low ($24-30) and in both cases, Mattel's target market for the dolls are children who are inspired by these two athletes.
>>
I'll be visiting an American Girl store for the first time soon to pick up something for my niece, I checked out the prices online and damn! No wonder my parents wouldn't buy me the dolls when I was little. I did get some sick paper dolls, at least.

Why are you diminishing those who sacrificed their lives and changed the course of history by comparing them to a person who's just really good at gymnastics?

>that hard work and dedication can result in success.
And according to you in >>6310433
a PR team that puts your name in the news. Sara Robles also worked hard for her weightlifting medal. Don't see Matty, let alone anyone else recognizing her hard work.

>Just black trollops, according to you.
Who brought up Mae Jemison as a better role model for girls? Who brought up Simone Biles, Amy Chow, Dominique Dawes and Betty Okino who made more important inroads in gymnastics for American minorities? Me. Not you. Screaming "racist!" doesn't automatically win the argument for you anymore.

>historical figures--which the Sheroes line isn't!
So Gabby, Misty, and Ava's accomplishments AREN'T historical? Well, glad that you agree with me on that. So what's your argument again? Oh yeah, that I'm a racist for wanting better role-models.

>Gabby Douglas and Misty Copeland aren't web exclusives.
I haven't seen them in stores and a quick look on google shows that they're sold only at Wal-Mart & target on their web sites. Sure, maybe they're on the shelves of FAO Schwartz or some fancy doll collector store, but not on the shelves where common people can get at them.

>Barbie's Pink Label is the lowest collector label priced low ($24-30)
>children who are inspired by these two athletes.
So are they "adult collectibles" as most of the Barbie collector lines are labeled or are they overpriced little girl's Barbies? Can't have it both ways. If I was a mom buying my little girl a flexible Babs, a MtM Barbie is far cheaper than some "adult collectible" that's twice as expensive. And as a adult collector, wouldn't I rather have more important historical female figures instead of the latest news feed celebrity, which you agreed with me in >>6310448

They have before (this doll, the ice skater Barbie and Ken, Olympic gymnast, and Paralympic Becky) but they had to pay for it.

The Douglas doll is in her warm up suit not her Olympic team jacket. I don't know if she's ever worn pink Nike jackets specifically since all I can find on Google is white, but the jackets she designed for her partnership with Nike are pink. Personally I'm just shocked Mattel had her in the stars-and-stripes leotard and not the glittery pink one she wore at the 2012 games.

Although you know, after looking some things up, I'm wondering if Mattel had to tread certain lines because Madame Alexander did a "gold medalist Gabby Douglas" doll in 2012. They could have some type of contract where they're the ones allowed to make a doll based on "Olympic Medalist/Team USA" Gabby versus 'regular' gymnast Gabby. Or Mattel simply didn't want to have to pay to make a "Team USA" Becky so they avoided any medalist related accessories.

The only Hasbro princes I own is this poseable Elsa doll which they are sadly retiring, and replacing with a very cheap reversible dress version which has almost zero articulation, and molded on clothing, yet costs the same. I bought the new reversible dress version because I was curious to see how the transforming gimmick worked, but returned it because the velcro was cheap, and wouldn't hold onto the dress in the back which messed up the whole point of the dolls gimmick. I had the Hasbro Mulan at one point, but returned her for the Disney Store version that comes with Mushu. I think their Pocahontas is also very pretty.

Shes been on my wish list for a while now, but at the prices shes sells for online she would have stayed on that wish list for a very long time. I have no clue whats going on with my local thrift store, but I'm finding a bunch of items that I had given up all hopes of ever owning. I also found these two Small World dolls. One was in her box, and priced at $4. The other one had no box, but, was in very good shape for $3. Their singing voices are very cute.

>Underrated post

To be fair I once spotted a black mom trying to push a black doll on her daughter at Kmart a few years back, but the little girl started screaming that she wanted the Holiday Hannah Montana doll. The mom looked disappointed, and tried once more before she gave up, and got her the Hannah Montana doll.

A few years later I saw a black mom trying to get her little girl hyped for a black princess frog doll, but the little girl stared crying "but I want Elsa". The mom said "but this one is pretty too. Look at the pretty dress." The little girl continued to cry "I want Elsa".

This year I saw a little boy trying to reach for a Trolls doll from the new movie which had brushable hair. His mom said "you don't want that" while the dad handed him a plush version of the same troll character. His mom said "The other one is more for girls. You don't want that". The boy accepted the plush toy, but even as they walked away his head wouldn't stop turning back to look at the Troll doll that he really wanted.

Do kids not like black dolls or some thing ?
>>
>>6331878
You see things all the time about how black/brown girls/moms push for black/brown dolls and that they're underrepresented but then you hear stories like >>6331386 where even when they have some options, they still go with preference regardless of skin color.
>>
>>6331386
I relate to that. Even though I'm brown and lived in a poorfag third world country's town where TV and foreign media weren't a big thing; whenever we went to the city and wanted to buy a toy I always went for the white looking dolls. I was always fascinated to see someone who didn't look like everyday people I encountered with. In this case, it was the blonde/ginger Barbies
>>
>>6331878
Yup. Clawdeen dolls are always the ones that shelf warm the worst in the MH section and I'm seeing the same with Bumblebee and Freddie for DCSHG and Descendants.

I was looking at the Descendants doll section today at Walmart, and all they had in stock was Freddie. I've been waiting since before Christmas for Walmart to restock the 17" Barbie Endless Hair Kingdom dolls. They've had the same five black ones sitting on the shelf since October. I finally lucked out at Target last week. Target not only restocked, but they had them on sale from $24.99 to $17.99!
>>
>>6331878
I like dolls of various colour nowadays because blonde Californian Barbies are boring after a while but I remamber when I was a little kid my aunt wanted to pay me a Theresa (since I had dark hair and eyes) so the doll would look more like me, but I still wanted the blonde Barbie.
>>
>>6332718
I don't really think I care to much what color their skin is as long as they are cute, and pretty.
>>
I can't take it anymore!!! I wanna find out what type of Designer dolls the Disney Store will have this September/October. They can't possibly release a 3rd wave of heroes and villains dolls. I wonder if they will do something cool like Princesses and their parents. They usually announce the dolls around mid August, but I'm dying to know what they have planed.

I also wonder what 17" LE dolls they'll release. They've already released every major princess. Maybe they'll finally do an LE Pocahontas and Mulan! I'll take anything accept another 17" live action Emma Watson as Belle doll.
>>
>>6332038
Really? I thought she, Draculaura, and Frankie shared that honor because there's like 9 million of their goddamned dolls and everyone already has them. Howleen and Clawdia did okay from what I saw in my area. Hell, even the cool looking Clawdeens were a bit hard to track down.
>>
>>6332968
Draculauras actually always sold pretty well. Out of the main ghouls, she was the one with most appeal to the target audience and was the least weird in the eyes of the parents.
>>
>>6332968
Could be a regional thing. The Wolf dolls sold horribly in my area. More for me, though.

Those are some really nice articulated bodies. I've always been a sucker for the huge feet thing too.

The fashion is mostly horrible and campy (why are there gaping holes everywhere) but there are some good parts.

I'd definitely consider getting them to repaint, especially if I found them on sale.
>>
>>6333693
The outfits are inspired by her most popular music video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OigFnuXL1NI

The holes are so you can attach the little plastic shape accessories to everything, which is the main gimmick of the dolls.

I know your pain, anon. I felt it when they made the LE Slave Jasmine doll a D23 exclusive. I found a 17" singing Jasmine at a thrift store, and even thought about making her into one.

Not another Minnie though! I skipped the first one, and got an extra LE Aladdin instead. I picked up the second Minnie because she looked stylish, and I wanted to have at least on in my collection. They can keep this new Red Queen of hearts looking Minnie though.
>>
I read that the new 17" LE doll is going to be Snow White, but I'm confused as to why people are calling her "The Art of Snow White" ? I wonder if this means that the new 17" Snow White is going to be redesigned, and look all weird or modern. They might also release 17" versions of the evil Queen, and Prince.
Someone also said that The Blue Fairy might be one of the new designer dolls. If this is true I hope they include a Pinocchio to go with her! I still think they should have gone with a Disney characters, and their parents theme.
>>
>>6334767

I think they're calling it "Art of Snow White" because it's part of the Art of Snow White release, like how DS did Art of Ariel, Art of Belle, Art of Jasmine, etc, except Snow gets a doll because it's an anniversary year.

I wonder what she will look like, since we now have 2 17' LE Snow Whites.

With the exception of this >>6331218 it does't happen very often now a days. Teen pop stars used to be way bigger in the 80s, 90, and early 2000s. For a very brief time Britney Spears was referred to as a living breathing Barbie doll come to life by Mtv. This was before she started getting edgy, chubby, and overly sexual on stage, and her doll line was discontinued.

After the late 90s teen pop singing dolls disappeared until around 2007. This is when Disney released those High School Musical, and Hannah Montana dolls. Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and One Direction dolls became a thing, and there were also a few other dolls based off of Disney Channel / Nickelodeon stars.
The fact that the hit Disney channel show Girl Meets World didn't have any dolls created to help promote the show kinda cements that this fade is dead once again.

It hit it's 65th episode a few months back, and got cancelled shortly after. 65 episodes is all Disney has to make in order to sell the show into syndication. In it's three year run the show had some of highest ratings on the channel. They've made Disney V.I.P dolls for less popular characters in the past, yet Girl Meets World got nothing.

May I ask why you want to put an Obitsu head on a Fashionista body? Most Obitsu bodies are Barbie compataible as far as clothes and are on par with MtM bodies for articulation.

BTW, if you're dead set on using a Barbie body, why not use the MtM purple top/Asian/Kira body? It has better articulation and easier to find.

I'm trying to make a Gwendy prop replica from Small Soldiers. The issue is that while Obitsu and mtm Barbies are more articulate, their joints don't match up with how the props look. Fashionista bodies have the closest resembling joints, at least in the limbs. The only torsos that match up with the prop are those old 80s fully jointed Barbies, but they don't have wrists and are only in that really dark tan skintone. So the Fashionista seems like the only decent compromise.

And the reason for the Obitsu head is because I wanted to grab one of those non threaded heads and they seem to be the cheapest.

Now that you mention the lower price though, the mtm might be easier to get. That, and I think a slight inaccuracy for better poses should be fine.

>fat Ken

yesss
>>
>>6342768
Been wanting a chubby Ken to go with my chubby Barbies. We also need a shorter Ken, though the one in the middle bottom has a fuck HUGE head ugh.
>>
no wonder their business has stagnated when one of their "best" designers has that attitude...
>>
>>6342768
Oh ffs, now I can get a big fat Ken who looks just like me! No Mattel, being fat should not be glamorised or promoted as normal in any way.

Gay Ken in the bottom left however looks pretty tidy.

The worst part is, I'm pretty sure collectors can fucking afford the set, especially with how Integrity Toys can price their stuff and get sold out. It's just the dolls are fucking mediocre for $125 especially since Wonder Woman CAN'T turn her arms, Steve Trevor has molded on gloves, and both outfits are one piece things that either can't be removed or stitched in. And considering the single dolls were $45, where does Mattel get off charging an extra $35...

I honestly hate Carlyle Nuera's designs a lot and his attitude about reusing fashion designs but with different fabric isn't cute at all but everyone fucking loves him cuz he remembers the 90s.

Does anybody outside Instagram really love him, I wonder. The clothes are all shit, he makes a "cute" drawing without any apparent consideration for what the final doll will look like.

He apparently collected FR before working at Mattel, so it's hilarious for him to imply somebody is a poorfag while designing overpriced cheap crap for a failing brand.

New Rapunzel has really long hair, but shes smaller than a classic doll. Shes been reported to be the size of a Bratz doll. Her hips move. Plus her hair is really soft!

Is "big" Ken even fat? It looks to me like the new sizes are jock, twink, and tall. Even Mattel marketing knows fat women never want a fat guy. Also, the greasy man bun is disgusting.

Is that hair style for men really in right now or is this just a Ken doll thing. Shaved sides, and than gelling up the top. Even the Ken dolls with plastic molded on hair have the same style now. It kinda reminds me of how black man used to shave the sides of their heads, and than leave a pencil eraser top afro on the top of their heads in the early 90s.

Also whats up with that retarded Jim Carry from Dumb and Dumber inspired suit? It looks just as tacky, but only gayer do to the colors, and the fact that they didn't give the poor guy a shirt so people could lust over his perfectly molded exposed chest.

No he's not.

>It looks to me like the new sizes are jock
They are, and they were only created to shut the mouths of those who protested that there is now a plus sized barbie doll, yet Ken still has the body of a greek adonis. They slightly changed his body without actually making him "curvy" aka fat as they did Barbie.

He looks like he has more of a Kristoff from Frozen doll body now than an actual "Curvy" , chubby or fat body type.
