I got the first of those ko constricons in the mail today. He's actually really nice, nicer than I was expecting. The only real issue is that his mid thigh transformation joint is pretty loose, but that'll be super simple to fix. Although he can pose perfectly fine in bot mode with it and once you plug his gun in his dozer mode is rock solid. Beyond that his plastic is a little light weight, but doesn't feel fragile and his wheels are hollow. Definitely going to pick up however many more they put out.
>>
>>6279807
Anybody know if this glorious gaudy bastard comes with the different colored eye options like the original Grinder? What about the new parts for the other dinobots?
>>
Thanks for putting the general name in the title.
>>

Yeah, it was fucking annoying for the past 2 threads or so people jumped on to random shit with no thread title, so you had to look for it manually rather than just CTRL+F-ing that shit like a sane person.

Alright everybody

>Best 3P you currently own

>Worst 3P you currently own

>Most fun 3P you currently own

Best: Can't decide between Gravity Builder, Nero Rex or Carnifex

Worst: KFC Simba. Tolerances are a mess, flaws on an engineering level and doesn't integrate with Star Saber that well because the weight of the backpack is too much for Star Sabers backpack to stay securely in place. Still looks great on a shelf when combined though.

Most fun: Pic related. So many options for play and display.
>>
>>6279833

Best: Fans Toys Grinder.

Worst: Unique Toys Buzzing, purely because I've had him for months and still haven't had the urge to take him out his box

Most fun: Probably a toss up between Master Made Apollo or the KFC Junkions
>>
ITT: Official figures that are better than all their third party counterparts

I'll start.

So many good choices. MMC Sixshot? Tarn? Predaking? Overlord? MT Megatron? Etc etc. Honestly though I'll probably go with MMC's Not-Predaking. The individual 'bots are amazing, and the combined form is the best Predaking we've got by a mile.

>Worst

I avoided all of the shit ones thanks to PAYING ATTENTION TO REVIEWS AND ASKING QUESTIONS HERE IN THE THREADS. No, really. You'd be surprised how easily you can avoid shit purchases just by doing a bit of research. You guys are amazing.

Meh, honestly I'm not really a fan of any of the Megs completely. I hate that official one's fat waist, short torso, legs, and gray paint, but there are things I don't like about all the rest. Fortunately I don't give a shit about masterpiece scale so it doesn't really matter. I'm just going to get Rioter Despotron.

I like 3P. But it's hilarious how whenever a 3P makes an MP and then Takara makes an MP of that same character Takara's is better every fucking time.
>>
>>6279894
Honestly both sides have their ups and downs.

TR Triggerhappy and Generations Springer are goddamn amazing but theyn you look at something like Metroplex vs. Utopia and 3P blows it out of he water.

I also think 3P has pu a bit of pressure on HasTak to deliver on some of the more obscure characters like Sixshot and Overlord, which is why we got Leader class of both of them as well as others coming down the line.

At the end of the day, 3P and HasTak push each other to do better.
>>
>>6279898
Some would argue that the balance is starting to shift. I know a lot of people prefer the 3P offerings for an MP Megatron over the official for a variety of reasons, including price point. You used to never see that much of a split. MP Soundwave is the definitive Soundwave, MP-36 Megatron is not necessarily the definitive Megatron.

Well the only other deluxe 3p Springer is from the early early days of Fansproject and honestly it barely even counts any more. All other third party Springers are MP scale and g1 based.

>>6279898
Grapple and Inferno aesthetics-wise are awful compared to 3p. The way the crane/ladders folds up is dope af though.

Can I ask folks what "no box" means in regards to purchasing a figure from some sites? I figure it means no box for the figure to come in, but.. how is it shipped then? Just taped into the styrofoam to keep them from falling out and rolling about? Kind of need an idea of how they're shipped, as I'd rather just pay the difference with the box than risk having them fucked up in transit.

>best
Probably spartan. He's accurate enough for me, has nice articulation, and he probably has the best quality joints of any toy I've bought. Seriously, his balljoints are the perfect tightness, and his hinges are smooth as hell without being stiff or loose. It's crazy but just moving him around feels great.

Also, his altmode is the perfect mix of imposing and ridiculous. I was iffy on it for a while but I absolutely love it now.

>worst
Maketoys blindfire. I got him because I loved the looks of his altmode, but that's about all he's got going for him. His joints have poor range, the collapsing thighs for transformation barely hold his own weight, and the partsforming would be forgivable if the pieces didn't fall off when you looked at them funny.

He's probably tied with rear-end, who was a disappointing followup to swerve, but not actually that bad on his own.

>most fun
Gotta go with steelcore. Both modes are beautiful, he's got a fun transformation, and his articulation was ahead of it's time. The titty-master gimmick is so well integrated I sometimes forget it's even there.

If I had to choose a runner up, it'd be trash-talk, who was my favorite general toy for a couple years.

I mean, I like Quantron a fuck-ton I won't even pretend. Bought him new for $325 and I still take him out once a month at least and transform all the figures a few times. Not to mention blindfire is easily one of the most fun and articulated figures from a 3rd party combiner team.
>>
>>6280082
Yeah for that much money I think you're better off playing it safe. I only ever got no box figures when they were less expensive ones.
>>
>>6280082
If it's just someone selling off their collection I might still go for it. Just make sure to tell them to pack it well, there's not much that can end up broken if you wrap it to hell and back in bubble wrap and proper padding.

Tarn sold out instantly, and got extra runs that came out recently. People still want to complete the team I'd wager.
>>
>>6280096
Nah, wanting Gravity Builder and was looking at the listing on Chimungmung. Not worth the risk though.
>>
>>6280086
I'm interested in Quantron but not as Computron. same for any of MT's combiners; I want their Yellow Giant as a sort of generic, heroic Brave mecha to pose alongside my other MP/Chogokin Braves. I just wish there was a repaint of Quantron so he could be more differentiated.
>>
>>6280100
None of the 3P Devastators really scratch that party itch for me...MT and TFC's look terribly outdated,I don't collect Legends, and Constructor fails at doing MP aesthetics in any era's way. I really respect Gravity builder, and aesthetically Its closest to my ideal Transformer look, but I know I'm going to dump it as soon as an official Takara MP or Fanstoys version comes out. which is why I hope GB gets a G2 or diaclone style real paint, so I can buy it without feeling the need to dump it later on.
>>
>>6280100
Green Giant was one of my first 3Ps. Loved him to bits but after a few years I decided it was time to upgrade and replaced him with Gravity Builder.

MP-36 makes the unofficial MPs look like utter dogshit. That semi-shiny grey finish they did looks so much better than silver.

I was actually considering buying Despotron before too. Glad I didn't.
>>
>>6280389
Despotron doesn't scratch its paint after a 30 minute transformation nor does it costs $200 though ;^)
>>
>>6280392
I transformed MP-36 multiple times and I don't notice any paint scratches.
>>
>>6280389
Looking at this picture, MP-36 looks the best by far.

Owning one, I can honestly say that the engineering and transformation are incredible. The only thing I can complain about is I wish certain pieces tabbed together and came apart easier when going to and from gun mode and that certain pieces had better clearance.

It's a goddamn shame about the paint issues.

Appreciate the effort anon, thanks.

He looks fantastic and about the size I was expecting based on pictures; all the reviews seem to agree that he's a great figure. I don't expect you to pull the thing apart, but how do the individual robot/beast modes look and feel in hand based on your experience with them?
>>
>>6280681
Not that anon but the individual bots are fantastic for the most part.

Not-Razorclaw has funky shoulders, the two legs have issues holding their knives in my experience.

Not-Rampage is definitely the highlight of the set as far as stand alone bots go. All the animal modes are pretty stellar as well with Not-Divebomb being the weakest.
>>
>>6280681

They're damn solid. Only issue I know of is Leodux might have a bar inside of his chest could possibly be installed upside down, and if it is it will prevent you from putting in filler parts, but otherwise won't affect anything, and you can fix it just by unscrewing his chest.
>>
>>6280435

>>
>>6280689

Not-Rampage is pretty good, but not-Tantrum is even better. The chunky proportions really work for him and the guy has a ton of personality. The only Feralcon I am considering buying the NeoArt KO of just to have him as a desk toy without having to disassemble Feral Rex.

I'm really interested in Toyworld Devastator, but the whole using a size bigger than masterpieces is a major letdown
In fact the only combiner I would accept in MP scale would be the car ones, like Menasor and Road Caesar, simply because I like having the kind of vehicles all the same-ish size

>Best 3P you currently own

None. I mainly buy FT and MT figures for my MP collection because they usually look good and are solid but both companies (and all the other 3P companies I have an experience with) are too amateurish to come up with fun transformations that don't make the figures less solid or accurate.
>>
>>6280843

Toyworld's Devastator is MP scaled, that's why he's so large. He scales well not only in combined, but also in his individual bots and alt modes.

I guess they're going to make it to scale with MPP-10? The whole thing's weird and I feel like they should have done like...anything but a G1 Megatron for their first original figure but maybe they started it so long ago that that's just hindsight being 20/20.

Yes but I don't think he's been shown killing someone in chair mode. They aren't alive in the current canon because Roberts is a hack.

The DJD had 3 torture robots on their roster. 1 turns into an electric chair, one is a mobile smelter and melts robots in in chest, and one has a massive conveyor belt and a grinder in his chest and grabby arms to shove robots through it. I guess vos, who is the sniper rifle, counts since his face comes off and drills into someone else when he makes them wear it.

I honestly got the impression that Roberts might not have had any solid idea of where he was going with the second season of that book and especially with the DJD or at least that whatever he had an outline for was no longer going to work because of other factor. It's like he got the deadline for the Hasbro merchandising revolution and just threw any old crap together to make an ending.

But really, Roberts is a great character writer, but his plots are held together with tape and handwaving.

Currently between jobs so I'm not planning on picking up much of anything in the near future.

That Lockdown looks fucking sick though.
>>
>>6283402

I have zero interest in Bayformers, but damn does that Lockdown look impressive, just from a technical perspective alone. Unique Toys are usually pretty great and lend themselves to really playable figures so he could be this years equivalent of Striker Manus
>>
>>6283402
Noir and Susanoo. I was thinking about a Gladius too, but that designer is a fucking slug.
>>
>>6283389

I've got MP Inferno and Grapple turning up tomorrow (I know I know, I kinda like them I can't help it).

Also should have v2 Constructor and v2 Ollie delivered next week. I've also got a set of the first 5 bots for Poseidon on it's way at some point and Stroker Noir should be out the end of this month too.

Only other things I've got pre-ordered are FansToys Phoenix and MMC's Kojin.
>>
>>6283421
>I know I know, I kinda like them I can't help it

Naw, no shame there. Featureless truck modes aside, those two figures are nuts.
>>
>>6282600
Thanks, anon.
>>
>>6283389

ToyWorld Primorion and PX Apocalypse part B are waiting to be picked up today.

God pic related on preorder.
>>
PO: BB7 Hotlink & Bitstream

I'll probably grab FT Seaspray and Omega Supreme at release too. I was planning to get their Skyfire too but with rumors of an official one being revealed this year, I'll wait to see which one is better.
>>
>>6283422

Holy fuck you're right. They turned up this morning (thanks DHL!) and while the alt mode is shit that transformation was really impressive and the bot modes look absolutely dope.

What's a mess? The review, or not!Blitzwing, here?
>>

Both, but the review was a mess due to technical issues. The figure is a disaster, like kfc tape bots disaster levels.
>>

Both, Ditka has terrible knee joints and is very top heavy and Bobo Shelly is being his usual overly dramatic self

>Best
Definitely Striker Manus. He's just a 10/10 across the board in my book. I'd pick up Striker Noir too, but I have some weird aversion to owning multiple figures using the same mold.

>Worst
This one's weird because I actually like the majority of the individual ToyWorld Throttlebots, but Wideload and the combined form are weakest 3PTFs I have. Mainly because Wideload is a huge pain in the ass to transform and I dislike ToyWorld's tendency to use extraneous accessories specifically for the combined mode and nothing else.

>Most Fun
Planet X Vulcun. This fucker's just a blast to play with and pose in both modes. You can even mount the original FoC Prime on him a la Age of Extinction and it looks badass. I had a picture of it one time but it was lost when I transferred computers.

I think I only own 4 3P tf's actually.
MT Battle Tanker
UT Maniaking g1 ver.
UT Provider
TW Orionvil

I'd have to say provider holds up the best,
Battle tanker is the shittiest just because it's so brittle and everytime I play with it something new breaks.

Yeah I know how you feel
I'm most likely going to sell Noir off unless I have a change of heart since I just wanted the cool extra weapons for Manus
>tfw basically paid $90 just for a set of sprues
I wish I didn't miss the boat on Vulcun though he looks rad
>>
>>6283656
Kind of agree. There are parts of each I like, but I'm not sold on the whole package on any of them. MP 36 looks great, but the ugly alt mode and ball ache of a transformation are a major turn off, as is the lack of silver and shitty cartoon badge.

Gladius looks sweet as an original Megatron concept, and easily looks like the funnest one as a toy. Cartoon accuracy is the cancer killing high-end transformer toys.
>>
>>6283610

Crazy that this brand continues to hobble along just because people are desperate enough for G1 characters and the douche in charge owns a bunch of factories.
>>

Not really, there companies that are still pumping out IDW and original designs. So I don't know how you'd come to that conclusion.

>>
>>6285321

His fingers pop off because they didn't pin the joints.
His legs are loose as all fuck and his second leg joints wobble like a cheap KO.
His ankle articulation sucks for absolutely no reason.
His thigh swivels are so tight the plastic grinds itself off.

I didn't even transform him before I shoved his shit back in the box and asked for a refund. This will be my first and last ToyWorld product.
>>
>>6285326

That's a shame, I was tempted to pick him up at some point. Toyworld can be really hit or miss with their tolerances, everything's either too loose or too tight.

I want to pick up some stuff I missed from the last year or so, how does Cynicus hold up? I heard there were some pieces on his ankles or arms or something that got brittle and broke, was that a widespread thing? And did it get fixed in the re-release?

Also, should I go for j4zz or downbeat? I know they're going for two different styles, but I'm cool with either so I mostly care about which is better built/has more articulation.
>>
>>6285993
Downbeat fo sho. MT products are always solid. Only minor complaint is the unpainted gray plastic. Took a Gundam marker to mine and looks a lot better.

They kind of had to. Their combiners were not holding up (literally) and their two old timer series releases were big steaming logs of comical quality. And yet we are at a point where Poseidon is by far my favorite combiner I've owned.

Thats the kicker. Imagine being rich enough to own several factories, obviously with enough of an interest to produce "high end" figures for a 30 year old toy commercial that you don't even have the rights to, but giving so little of a shit to quality that you just let them churn out shit every time.

why did they show the side of the torso when it's such a mess?

Tbh I really like the style of the toyworld one that is upcoming. It looks closer to the MP-10 aesthetic imo which I really like. Yes the head is a fair bit off, but i don't think it's terrible by anymeans. The altmode is shit tho.
