>Spooky Gardener with white head, blakc torso with black leather straps pattern, spiky messy black hair, scissors, and Wolverine claw (comes with extra Wolverine claw)
>Mummy Girl
>Kid in bug suit with short legs, comes with new Jungle spider piece in different color
>Lady Mad Scientist
>Vampire Grandpa with trans-clear 1x1 round tile with fang dentures pattern
>Zombie CMF S1 Nurse

Ghost Costume Guy could have a funny ghost-themed t-shirt print on his torso that's not visible in promo images.

I've actually come up with CMF-style descriptive text for each one of these characters. Bug Suit Kid is like reverse Skeleton Guy because he doesn't see the problem with hanging out in Monster Town all year round. Zombie Cowboy is actually just a guy who went to a costume party and accidentally became a zombie.

Honestly they already covered all the important stuff in the first wave of sets, It'd be pointless making more. Especially now that the movie is done running its course. Hell, tlg's probably already finished designing the ep8 sets by now.

The only reason I would want more R1 sets is if they came out with a new Tantive IV set. The last full sized set was 2009, I think it's about time for a new one.

I'd love for them to do a Hammerhead, "normal" or UCS.

Considering how awesome that one scene with it was, it wouldn't be a bad decision to make one.
>>
>>6278802
Has there even been a Hammerhead set? I'd definitely shell out ~$70 for one.
>>
>>6278808
There hasn't. If they ever did, it would probably be in the thousand+ piece range, so we'd see it go anywhere from 120-150 USD to be honest.

Would still get it, I loved that design since I first saw it in KOTOR.
>>
>>6278813
It's a KotOR design? Why were Rebels using a 1000+ year old ship?
>>
>>6278820
They aren't the same ship but they share design similarities, specifically the "hammerhead" shape. It's like how the arrowhead design of Star Destroyers traces its lineage at least as far back as Sith Destroyers from the same era.

Hi,

I've been a fan of MOCs for a while, and while I've made MFZ-style robots for a while, I want to try to jump into making a larger starship (minifigure proportions, hopefully) for my girlfriend's birthday, to celebrate a Star Wars RPG campaign we do.

Any tips for jumping into a larger MOC like that? Some resources for how to make good starships, what parts to look at, and so on?

Her birthday isn't for months, so I have time to practice with smaller builds beforehand. And I can always lower my ambition and just make a MicroFighters style build rather than an actual proportional build, if I just turn out to suck! :P

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

Gymsnor-3 light freighter. Deckplans: http://deckplans.00sf.com/CorelliSpace/Gymsnor3.html

I don't want the exact proportions of this ship - it seems like it's too ambitious for a first-timer like me - but I at least want the actual deckplan in there, so my girlfriend can put the crew where she likes, and whatnot.

A ship about the size of the one in your picture, maybe a little larger, is about what I'm looking for. (Love it, by the way!)

>>6278912
Doesn't look too difficult to reproduce in legos, though if you're going for decks and separate compartments it'll definitely be larger than mine. This thing is essentially hollow, with most of the inside space taken up by a planetary exploration vehicle. I probably could've added some bulkheads between the cockpit area and the rest but it would've restricted things.

You might have to limit your ship to a single deck, multiple decks gets really complicated and you pretty much have to design the thing to be opened up easily to access them, which can affect build stability. Best of luck with your ambitions anon, I'd be real interested to see it.

>>6278913
It does, I try to work accessibility into my starships wherever possible.
>>
>>6278926
Oh yeah, the upper deck is like, purely engineering and stuff. My idea was that the separation point for access would let her put dudes in the lower deck, where all the interesting action is, but reveal the upper deck's stuff, as if the floor had gone 'transparent'. That stuff, since it only has to be seen from below, could be much smaller and representational.

Of course, her PC is the engineer, so she might want to have her minifig in the engineering stuff on the top deck... I'll just focus on the lower decks for now and see where my work ethic takes me. :P

Also, your ship is skinnier than I thought! I'd definitely have to go a bit wider in order to fit the outriggers and kitchen/fresher, but not too much wider, I think. Like I said, I think stuff like the cargo bay and whatnot can be really skinny. More to represent 'place' than 'size', if that makes sense!
>>
>>6278933
To clarify: I was thinking it'd separate at the ceiling of the first deck, which would be the floor of the second deck. When it separates, it's revealed there actually isn't a floor - 'transparent' - but instead you can just see the bottoms of the engineering stuff, pretending it goes further into the ship when really it doesn't.

The bottom deck, since it only is accessible into open air, would then not have to be designed with headroom in mind. That lets me significantly slim down the height of the ship.

>>6278933
>>6278935
Yeah I can see that working out, definitely saves on height, might have to be more than a bit wider though to accommodate everything heh. That ship is the largest I've built, can't really see myself going much bigger as they start to become unwieldy dust magnets after a point, I like them to be minifig-friendly yet still swooshable.

They all have purpose as well in my headcanon, that starship is an obsolescent cruiser bought surplus by an ambitious corporation, retaining the older weaponry but fitted with numerous new components for its mission of seeking out resource-rich worlds for mining.

This ship here is operated by one of their subcontractors, a fast, well protected cargo hauler to bring back mined raw materials by way of shortcuts through wild space, dodging navigational hazards and outrunning hostile factions. Two drone craft can be deployed for defense or scouting purposes, the "tug" can also detach the cargo pod which can be flown remotely (another feature I'm fond of putting into my ships).

That'd be sweet as heck to have for gaming, much better than deck plans on paper eh.

Funny you mention the colors, that thing got started with this brown windscreen piece I couldn't find any use for, just doesn't fit with most colors, ended up having to BL some more brown parts to flesh it out.

This is one of my most recent builds, the Imperial/Nazi Germany colors were quite unintentional, it goes with the crew who are made up of that one lego soccer team with red, white and black jerseys. They turned a touring bus into an interstellar cruiser, specializing in communications, sensors, electronic warfare, snooping and detecting. They sell their services to any interested parties but will stop short of taking an active role in ongoing conflicts, at most they will provide services that are defensive in nature such as frequency jamming, early warning detection and communications relays or eavesdropping. Generally they're called on to search for missing ships, assist the Space Police in tracking down renegades and broadcast major sporting events across the sector.

He's definitely on my "to buy" list

But here's some guys I threw together just now along with ideas for bases and stuff to build for them:

>XATHGAR THE MANICIAL: A necromancer wielding the mighty STAFF OF MALICE to summon the undead for no apparent reason. He resides in an subterranean lair carved by members of a long gone race. (Build would be a cutout of his Necromancer's lair with plenty of old god relics)

>LADY MARIGOLD: A noble woman and last in her bloodline, but barren and unable to produce a heir. In her grief she stumbled upon the WAND OF SORROWS. She now raises her dead kin from their slumber to wander amongst her labyrinthine gardens to protect what remains of her fortune. (Build would be a garden with worn and crumbling fountains and gazebo)

>THE LOST QUEEN: A queen with no past and no kingdom, she roams the viscid roads of the marshlands with an army of unfortunate souls that died in the murky mud pits. Her weapon is mysterious as her, but few dare face the darkness it summons. (Build would be a battle caravan)

Phew. Couple of building sessions and almost a half liter bottle of vodka I'm done. This thing is massive. I can't even fit it in the space I planned. Now my options are either on floor where it would explode or top shelf of closet where I wouldn't even see it.

I still remember when Cafe Corner was released, never got it and entered dark ages some time after Green Grocer. I still want the corner but unless I win lottery it's a fat chance.

>I can't even fit it in the space I planned.
haha, had the same. It's been balancing agains a wall next to my monitor ever since. Also considering getting another one, but the colourschemes tend to make parts-use for other buildings hard. I'm more of a dark and drab grey person for base colours, so the large percentage of white, tan and pastel colours scare me off a bit.
Assembly square looks absolutely excellent though, though i'd probably lose the fountain.
>>

>Nice, remind me of one of the first mocs i posted here.
Looks good! Coincidentally I think I made the hotel in 2014, specifically October just before Halloween. My first semi-moc (based loosely on existing instructions for the Daily Bugle building) since coming out of my dark ages. Used old parts from when I was a kid, scratched and worn, so a haunted building seemed appropriate.

I started buying at the Lego store.

Then I found out about bricklink.

Then I liked amazon for the shipping but realized they don't even price match so money lost from amazon selling than selling for cheaper next day and more money loss from sales tax.

Then I realized I like Ebay as sellers trying to sell shit for months actually consider just selling their listing for a decent discount.

Is Ebay the last step on the pyramid of buying legos.

>>
>>6281458
Lego has free shipping at that price level I think, may not be as fast though
>>
>>6281562
>>6281570
Yup.
Bricklink is the way to go when it comes to getting particular parts. However... I am seeing that a lot of US based sellers here just don't have the quantities I need and Shop@Home is my last resort.

I have had great success in my Craigslist hauls as of late. Close to 120lbs in 3 weeks. You have to be fast and be ready to drive an hour+ if you want the good deals.

Yard sales - 0 on my end. I've never seen Lego at a yard sale in my life.

Ebay - I used to buy bulk parts on Ebay. Now that Lego is all mainstream again with their licensed crap it is not worth the $$$.

You want 'with groove.' They'll be newer, cheaper, and of course easier to use.

pic related shows 1x2 tiles with and without groove. it was a design change to make disassembly easier.
>>
>>6281617
The difference is that the version without the groove stopped being made back in 1978, with the grooved version being having been produced since.

Go for the grooved version, naturally.
>>
>>6281617
>Lego has them for .07 each while US based shippers have them for more.. Why?
Oftentimes, Bricklink prices are based on how available the piece is depending only on how many sets it's appeared in and the quantity that it appeared in those sets. That's why right now you can buy one of the silver heat-variant HAZMAT helmets for a buck on lego.com, but they're a few dollars each on cracklink because you can only get a few of them at a time if you're buying sets and parting them out.

A good example is the Bookkeeper minifig from Nexo Knights. It only comes in one big set, so it's really expensive on Bricklink, but it can be ordered for a much lower price directly from Lego.

For pieces that are currently in production, direct is often cheaper.
>>
>>6281617
also, modular floors/sidewalks are probably going to be either dark bluish gray or light bluish gray. People ususally just abbreviate to 'bley' and now and then you'll get some oldfag wishing lego'd bring back the old grays.

man I wish Lego'd bring back old dark gray.
>>
>>6281636
I miss old dark grey. It's perfect for making stuff appear worn or rusted due to that nice, warm coloration of it, but there's so many newer parts that only exist in dark bley and using dark bley and its bluish coloration makes everything look new and clean and futuristic.

Y'know?
>>

After wearing a bunny suit in the hot sun all over the noon hour, I was a little pooped when I got back home so I didn't have the energy to do what I wanted. Instead I just made a bunch of shreepish derpimals. The descent of shreep is a long and tangled path, and several shreep-like animals are different enough to be considered species in their own right.

From top: a common shreep. Note the forward-placed eyes and vacant gawk typical of its breed.

Fancy Southland Shreep. The combined weight of its pronounced jaw and crown make this shreep unsuitable for heavy fieldwork.

Baggy-cheeked Full Shreep. The 'full' in this case refers to its high, thick rump. This breed is prized for its amount of meat. Nomadic herders often make a delicious stew from the well-portioned cuts.

Spring-tailed Rock Shreepa. Rarely seen, as its preferred habitat is inhospitable mountain crags at extremely high altitudes. Folklore says it hoards treasure, but it's probably just a dumb animal.

Working Southland Shreep. A large, sturdy beast popular in regions where buckows are unsuitable.

Black-tufted Mountain Shreep. Unlike the more commonly known Mountain Shreep, the Black-tufted Mountain Shreep's horns have grown far past the edges of its skull in an impressive display that causes a ton of problems if they get stuck in a wooded area.

Bristle-backed Shreemp. Originally bred to miniature size during a short-lived fad among a vanished caste of nobility, it has proven a tenacious survivor due to its ability to digest even more than the common shreep and its ability to reproduce three months after birth. The heavy tusks are anchored to a thick set of shoulder muscles, allowing it to dig its way through most obstacles on its incessant quest for food.

Short-statured Sharphorn Shreep. A relatively recent breed, its lineage can be traced to the original crossing of a mountain shreep with a dwarf shreep. It fares poorly in the wild.

I mean pick a brick light gray, medium gray, and dark gray. But no blue gray. ???

>>6281802
Lego doesn't call it blue gray; that's how Bricklink categorizes it. In the old days there used to be light gray and dark gray, but several years ago Lego shifted their color palette and made the grays more blueish. Lego still calls it "gray", but Bricklink call it "bluish gray" to distinguish it from the original gray color.

I actually have a decent blue spaceman who survived the 80s (sadly none of the original helmets made it). I also modernized his head because why not. The yellow torso's printing looks better with the camera flash, it's harder to see in standard light conditions. I included the greens from the exo suit because it's interesting how they've increased the size of the printing.

It gets better from then on. Four original Blacktrons, 10 Blacktron II (four with the white booster/gun thing), 3 black Futuron, 1 blue Futuron (minus blue tank since I only had one spare), about 9 M-Tron but only 4 fully built, and three Space Police II (two captains and 1 regular). I used to have a bunch of space police, no clue where they got to. Found an original red spaceman torso that's really super faded too so I'll rebuild him today or Monday. Everything else is in pretty decent shape. Some minor print damage here and there. The bigger issue is cracks on the side of the torso but that just makes some of the arms swing a little loose. Nothing too bad.

But hey if none of the legs work just cyborg up that shit with bricks and make a weird spider walker to nest the torso in. Space, man, it'll fuck you up.

Best case scenario seems to be double or triple VIP points off.
Don't know which stores carry it in your country, but in Germany there is a storechain that gives 15-25% off relatively often, problem is they only get Modulars a year after initial release.

If the small one is a Gozanti they only carry 4 TIEs or airlift in a single AT-AT or a pair of AT-DPs/AT-STs. Looks like the one next to it is the light carrier. It's a pretty sweet ship, shame they lost it in the series.

I wanted to do something like this as well but I want so make a ISD first with the wedge plates sloping similar to the 150$+ ISDs and not just plates stacked on top of each other but had no time yet to research that.
I would love to make a space battle display with everything from fighters to destroyers but the scale for fighters to be viable is probably too big, sadly.

Nice ideas here.

Not a bad idea. I don't have that head and I really don't feel jazzed enough about this as a project to buy anything. Originally while playing around he just had Superman's hair as if the Man of Steel had to rebrand himself for the new era. The current head was more about Lex Luthor's weird Nuclear Man sort-of-Supes clone from Superman IV, but it's definitely leaning more towards making it Trump himself.

He's just built from random existing droid parts with no attempt at even the small bits of customization they put in the series.

Hell, it doesn't even need to be printed on just a damn sticker. Is that too much, Lego? There was already a sticker sheet included anyway. Also they could have at least made dual sided heads for more expressions.

Sounds like some people are aiming for the rocket boy to farm him for the gray spaceman torso and create a classic gray space faction. I'm a bit tempted myself, to be honest. Still I love that retro spaceman and I wouldn't mind some dupes of the animals. Also I tend to get multiples of the costume figures anyway. Sets have been using color themes for ages, the only real difference is Star Wars has been a very long running theme and will continue to be. If they don't like them nobody is putting Zodiac Master's pistol to their head to make them buy it or risk using up all his ammo so he can't commit suicide.

Knighton's Castle looks... incomplete? Probably because of its foldy structure compared to most castle sets which are tied to a base, but I can't help but think that those walls feel a bit thin, especially since they don't end in either a proper gate or towers.

It's a similar deal with the Library, but the Library hooks up with the Fortrex, which I feel is the only building set that seems to be able to stand out on its own without modifications. Evidently, I wish more vehicle sets, if they had to make them, were some combination of castle and tank.

>>
>>6283391
Yeah, that's the one I was thinking of when talking about them being opened up. It's more of a cross section. Okay, they weren't going to make the full castle since if they did it'd give that new Falcon a run for the money!

Still if they can manage Hagrid's hut they could manage some peasant hovels for lava monsters to fuck up.
