Made some alterations to Nautica. Her color needed to be darker, and her head was shaped wrong.

I'm not entirely sure. It was packaged in robot mode (two-pack with the button changer Bumblebee) and the instructions tell you how to go from Vehicle to Robot, so I've been trying to reverse engineer it.

I noticed a tab that it looks like is supposed to slot into the head in some way but I can't figure out how. The instructions don't mention everything like the tabs that fold out of the torso for the arms to peg onto.

Well I was hoping BW would come with a different gun. It ends up using the top part of the fusion cannon as it main weapon (plus a plug-in cannon extension.)

My thought is by painting the part in, black it can incorporate itself better as the fusion cannon and be more distinct from the BZ's own.

They could have have some struts on joints to pull it off. Obviously they didn't for what are most likely cost reasons. That does not negate the fact that they're in the wrong place for the character design, and does not negate the fact that the problem still exists when other modifications to the stock figure are conceptualized. Takara Ginrai costs 100+ in most places
so for about the same price, you can get him, tidal wave, pounce, and a thunderwing head (and granted, a terrible looking metalhawk) that's a pretty good deal.
So if you were almost ready to pull the trigger before, this should be an easy decision for most. Buy the set, sell what you don't want, and your cost is lower than if you imported it.

Flywheels brings Grimlock and Brawn to the Hive to meet his boss, Zarak, who is pleased that he has brought him new soldiers. When Flywheels affirms his loyalty to Zarak, the Autobots are confused since the alien is not Flywheels's leader, Scorponok, so the Decepticon explains that Zarak is a parallel version of his leader and that the Hive is in fact a giant scorpion robot named Scorponok. They explain that in their own world, their head modes don't control bodies but work in tandem with them, making the resulting Headmasters twice as powerful. Weirdwolf mistakes the attacking Scorponok for his leader, MegaZarak, but the ever-helpful Waspinator is quick to point out that it's Scorponok, a Nebulon-piloted robot from an alternate Headmaster story called "The Rebirth". Unlike Flywheels, Weirdwolf refuses to accept this Scorponok as his leader and fights back, but is quickly dealt with. The Headmasters from both worlds arrive to help, with the otherworldly half explaining that they're heroic Nebulons who followed Zarak in other to stop him from conquering the Legends Universe.

As they take on Scorponok, the Nebulons form the transtectors' heads while the native Headmasters remain in their cockpits, a process Chromedome calls "Double-Headmasters" and Flywheels "2-in-1". Sakamoto's ongoing comic work really lacks the dynamism and subtlety of Milne's work. It's even worse since IDW gave him several of the darker/emotional issues to draw such as the DJD focused ones as well as the stuff that delved into what traumatized Skids from the War. If you notice, each one has one of every size class, and alternating factions for everything but leaders and deluxes
So that means if the next sets are similar in total figures, but I bet with 2 decepticon leaders and 2 decepticon deluxes

So, given that, I think we'll get the other two clones, a G2 paintjob on megs, a retool of Galvatron as Star Saber (remove his tank treads and remold the hatch on his chest and you're halfway there), and as for heads... so far they've been clearly designed to go on specific other figures and are leaders/big names (Rodimus/Thunderwing on Hotrod, Skyshadow) so I'm gonna guess Star Convoy (or whatever his american name is) and Straxus

I'll put money on a Bludgeon repaint/retool of Hardhead and a reflector repaint of Perceptor

That's hard to say, since every leader class has already received a remold.
Maybe they'll surprise me and do one of each (since right now we have 4 leaders on each side) So I can see them doing a poor man's omega surpreme from Overlord, and probably a cop out nemesis prime (Or a crazy surprise, Guiltor)

Personally speaking I know there are difference department and division within Takara taking care of different brand. But how hard would it be to get someone from the figure/capsule section and have them help out in the design?
I think one of the biggest problem people have against female TFer is how masculine they are. This should not be hard as unlike Hasbro' action figure, you don't need all the detail you just need get the general female face and body right.
This never going to work if you do it in reverse- male TFer body -> female Tfer body.

Unless we are talking about something like Strika (or movie transformers) that intentionally defies these norms, having curves is what defines them as female transformers. Look at all the various Arcee or WIndblade or Blackarachnia molds (barring the first one), the curves and feminine figure is the cue that says they are female to buyer. As a counter example look at the attempts at doing them without these features. For example MP Roadrage or TFCC Slipstream. As figures they suffer in not being able to convey the characters are female or feminine. This is the problem with Nautica.

I think that is a problem with Warden. He doesn't put too much thought into the remolds or how to economize. It's the same case with CW in the beginning of CW he was just too overly generous with make new molds that the first batch of Stunticons had all separate molds, but by the tail end it was just virtually all remolds to the point that poor Blast-off became an aerialbot and then he wasted an entire Voy mold budget on his childhood favorite character of Sky-Lynx. The same for TR a lot of these new molds aren't even getting a 2nd use like Galvatron/Weirdwolf/Mindwipe/Hot Rod/Doublecross/Perceptor/Kup.

I figured the clones were going to be repaints of Blurr/Brainstorm and Weirdwolf/Mindwipe. The thing is, it's certainly not going to happen. We know all of wave 5 from rumors. Wave 6 is the last and I frankly don't think he'll accommodate so many when the average is 4 new deluxes. Hello, need opinions about which version of trypticon to go for with my collection.

I have a hasbro metroplex which I got for $88australian dollars when it first came out and I was wrapped, got the SDCC fort max for $220aud because (at the time) it was the cheapest one to get AND had the sword, still beat the takara but not by much.

So, how shall we decide this?

This is true, the only issue that's making me considering jumping the gun is premium collectables, they only take limited allocations and half the time short themselves out (for example, my mp primal isn't here yet...)

I missed out on a $160 hasbro fort max, and that one from them apparently came with the nicer hasbro asia sword, but there was no indication of that, instore ended up the cheapest as mentioned but that was with the rattiest box shoved in a dark corner of a store that was clearly hidden for a poor customer unaware of australian layby systems.

I'm conflicted, after paying rrp for the takara generations version of blitzwing (liked the plastic shades better) I feel quite attached, while the execution is far from perfect I...really like the act its an "updated" version rather than a "tweaked" g1 toy, and yet the colors of the TR are just jaw dropping.

THEN they ruin it with stickers, thanks hasbro.

If takara consider tampo prints I may need to think hard, I'm a man with shit taste and I still like my blitzwing as imperfect as it is, hell I bought it for the jet mode.

The tooling was meant to work in multiple uses, from his baldgius redeco (and head reversed for a better robot) to strke from computron.

The shuttle mode is clearly what they were going for and robot became secondary, with colors being the main homage to him as well as basic "shuttle chest" and thruster feet.

While a crappy look altogether its still a better homage than what hasbro gave us, least give us a new head for fucks sake

Since a knockoff G2 Laser Rod Prime was my first non-Beast Wars transformers I gotta admit this actually kinda look appealing to me. I wish it's grey was lighter, mind you, but overall this is a neat homage.

I got pretty good results by coating the tabs with futureshine a few times. I think I also trimmed some plastic from somewhere that was causing extra tension. Can't really recall, though.
