1) Gundam and Transformers are two different francises. G1 is still seen as mostly a kid's franchise with present day pandering to the current grown fandom emphasizing the humor like in Sakamoto's comics. Moreover Gundam is largely seen as something more for adults especially parts of the UC and OYL (this has largely been a self-fulfilling prophesy as franchises like AGE have ironically decimated younger audiences interest). Thankfully some of the hasbro reveals (mostly tr voyagers) I can starve off because the stickers really do not help, the box sets are tempting though nautica is a let down in the retool department, and because my country has shit distrobution with tr leadersit gives me a chance to see what takara does for overlord which is the ONE guy from tr I want if nothing else

Its mp dinobot that has me reeling, his bot mode would be amazing but like the new mp movie bee he'll have alot of fake kibble just so both modes would be screen accurate, but I'll need him all the same in the hopes mp bw megatron comes.

He started out as concept designs but said concept designs weren't really toy friendly so they went off the ballpark.

I swear the mold would of been more useful if retooled into big convoy (head prongs, chest jewel, big beefy robot shape), because as the default stands it doesn't really suit either alpha trion or lio convoy's shapes save for the oc lion.

Still, I love him for what he is, the first retail alpha trion, that and the amount of paint is nifty, as if the make up for astrotrain being so...bland from the same wave

Paint is the problem on that toy. It's fine if you got the Takara version. The battlemask version looks to have a better painted body but then you lose the cityspeaker facepaint, and swapping heads isn't a perfect solution because the reds are different.

I would says the reveal is not bad.
But no big surprise there.

The only thing I was not expecting are the 2 new legend clones mold in the packs rather being individual releases.
At the moment it seems the Hasbro TR line is almost over with Voy and deluxe with new windblade throwing into the repaint mix along with legend seaspray.

I would care less for the movie stuff. But both Megatron look very good. I wonder which will be closest to the screen look.

My biggest problem with the news is they couldn't even give Blitzwing better gun and Overlord looks like just a different color of skyshadow. They barely made the effort to distinguish the two. It does not feel like overlord, maybe it is because the chest is closed?

Also no news on the line after TR.

Anyway, has Takara announced anything new?
They literally just stop giving us news in the LG line since summer of last year. Are they going to use the Blitzwing, octane, or even Broadside's mold? Their own version of Overaload? Where is Six-shots? Why are they running silent?

No, the entire jet section has been replaced with a new mold, only the tank is exactly the same.

It helps massively for his proportions, I thought we'd have to resort to fan moding overlord but the fact most of the front of the jet comes off to become his shield rather than a similarly sized dink jet like black shadow means they knew what the fuck they were doing

Because its meant to be a kids toy, not all kids like super robot proportions, outside of an mp I think this one does a fine job.

You can't make the legs thicker with the current design unless they retool the tank and said tank would end up being bigger than the chibi voyager esque tank they have now, as it is the current tank hits both durability and toy safety standards WITHIN hasbro's budget.

The best part of this tooling is they can just swap out the jet or just the tank and hay new robot.

If you want super robot wait for an mp, its your only chance, there is nothing wrong with your opinion, its just not gonna happen with most tr figures

Normally you can wait for a general release with standard retail figures but the problem is he's part of the masterpiece line.

While still a retail figure not only does he cost alot more he's a japan/asia release (usually just hong kong), when they announce the dates unless you live near a good HK store that is known for importing them in you best watch online stores like a hawk (hlj, amiami or a local online store of choice like robot kingdom, bbts, premium collectables etc), they tend to pre-order out quickly, sometimes in less than a day others could be 2 weeks.

But he won't get scalped, especially since online stores have order limits

Hello, need opinions about which version of trypticon to go for with my collection.

I have a hasbro metroplex which I got for $88australian dollars when it first came out and I was wrapped, got the SDCC fort max for $220aud because (at the time) it was the cheapest one to get AND had the sword, still beat the takara but not by much.

So, how shall we decide this?

The best line is the line you like and everyone else's opinion is irrelevant.

I myself like generations ONLY because it complete the seeker collection classics started, TR and CW collectively gave me the best chug like combiners and headmasters that I wanted, but none of these lines are perfect and neither is the one you like the best.

It's those shitty cg commercials and cutaways that I remember more growing up actually than the actually show itself. Commercials were easier to remember when you were an impressionable kid. That and Beast Wars because by the age I actually cared about character names at all was when Beast Wars was already airing. Hence why Optimus Primal is still much more nostalgic to me than truck Optimus even though I owned the toy back as early as 1993 or something. The trailer for G1 Optimus is something I would never forget since I stepped on mine and it stabbed my feet when I was a kid.
